Chapter Forty-Three
Rory woke up in her room the day after New Year's Eve. She didn't feel as tired as she thought she might. School would begin again after the weekend ended. It was back to classes, back to studying… and back to The Puffs. Rory was excited to start the New Year. She stayed home and didn't go out to spend time with her friends much over the week-long break. She decided to do so in hopes that things would be better between her and her mother.
She couldn't wait to see her friends again.
Rory decided to clean up her room and to finish up the rest of her homework that was due on the first day of school. She needed to go to the D.A.R. tomorrow to do a shift at work so she needed to get ahead on things. Her cell phone rang while she did her laundry.
"Hello?" said Rory.
"Hey, it's me, Logan."
Rory smiled. "Hi, Logan. How are you?"
"I'm doing better. Elias is doing well, too. I had fun with you on Christmas Eve at my family's Christmas party."
"I did, too," she replied. "Colin and Finn sure are something… especially when they get a few drinks in them."
Logan chuckled. "That's true. Anyway, I'm going back to school at Yale in a week or so. Do you want to go grab something to eat tomorrow before I leave for school?"
"Oh," said Rory. "Actually, I'm working tomorrow."
"At the D.A.R.?"
"Yeah."
Logan cleared his throat. "What if I came by tomorrow? With a cup of coffee? I want to see you before I head back to school."
Rory smiled. "That would be great. And I'm not one to say 'no' to a cup of coffee."
