Chris stayed asleep even after hawkeye woke up almost an hour ago, Looking at the sleeping child, pierce felt a rush of affection towards the boy. He looked so innocent and sweet like this, drool at the corner of his mouth and a little on the pillow, his hair was sticking up sideways. He looked adorable, Hawkeye was glad Chris could at least sleep without fear.

He and Trapper were lounging on their bunk and were slowly waking up as Radar walked into the Swamp.

"You guys got mail!" the smaller man announced. Handing the mail around.

"The kid still asleep?" he asked Hawkeye, lowering his voice slightly.

"Yeah, I don't know how long he was awake before he got here, he seems to need it." hawkeye replied. He brushed the blond hair gently and got a very sleepy and a bit irritated soft groan back. Grinning he accepted the letter he got from Radar.

"One for Trapper" Radar announced throwing the letter at the men laying on his bunk.

" I don't feel like mail" Trapper stated while refusing to open his eyes.

"Go ahead and open it, they can't draft you again," Hawkeye said while opening his letter.

"Bad news from my wife. She still loves me. Would you believe this? She thinks I got sent to Korea as part of some secret plot to cheat on her." trapper said

"Well, didn't you?" Pierce said looking over at the other man from his bunk bed.

"Yeah but how did she figure it out?" Trapper replied laughing.

"Hey, Ho-Jon! Come here" Hawkeye said to the young Korean man hanging around the Swamp. The young Korean student wanted to become a doctor and hawkeye had the idea of helping him get to the states for schooling. The young man lived near the 4077th and was earning some money doing little shores around camp.

"I got a letter from Dean Lodge." he explained "Dear Hawkeye as Dean of the college, I naturally remember you very well. Your request to enter the Korean boy Ho-Jon seems one of your nobler gestures, and since his academic record meets our requirements, we will be pleased to accept him this fall. Provided you can get him here, and also send me $1000 tuition before the 15th. It was good hearing from you, if you do to the army, what you did to this college, America is finished. Blah blah etc ."

Ho-Jon cheered out loud and hugged hawkeye. " That's terrific, " he said.

At the loud cheer, Chris was startled awake, the boy almost fell out of the bunk. Breathing fast he looked over at hawkeye and then around the room with big scared eyes. A second later Chris felt his ears start to burn. Ohh boy he was so embarrassed! Now they were all looking at him, he made too much noise, he hoped nobody was angry with him. His pulse quickened, as he felt fear. Hawkeye didn't seem angry but you never know with people. He felt his body tremble softly until hawkeye spoke in a friendly voice.

" You're finally awake! I was almost planning to park your bunk in the mess hall, so you could eat and sleep at the same time."

Chris looks at the man confused, moving his bed out of this Swamp seemed like a bad idea, maybe the man wanted him gone. He quickly started to feel sad and his eyes burn slightly with tears at that thought.

"I'm kidding, you don't need to get upset, " Hawkeye said placing his hand on the boy's blond head, scruffling his hair a little.

Their bunk beds were next to each other, Hawkeye could reach the boy in his sleep if he wanted to, maybe that would prove to be in handy if Chris got a nightmare or something.

Chris let out a sigh, he needs to get used to that. The unexpected touch was pleasant after the shock of it disappeared. He felt a bit safer again, which puzzled Chris a little. He couldn't remember feeling safe with someone.

His stomach made a sound, which made Hawkeye smirk.

Ho-Jon quickly left to tell his folks that he would be moving to America to attend school. Now all they have to do is come up with the $1,000 for travel and the $1,000 for tuition.

McIntyre and Pierce finally come up with the idea of raffling off a weekend pass for two in Tokyo with a nurse for company.

With the plan in place, the two men and the small boy trailing behind went to the mess hall.

Chris now knew the hall and expected the people, but he still got nervous entering the big tent.

He silently followed Hawkeye, who gave him an empty food tray.

" You just follow me, when we get to that line, you tell the man serving what you want to eat." Hawkeye said pointing at the line of people getting served.

Chris instantly panicked, he didn't want to talk, looking at hawkeye with sad scared eyes, begging him not to ask this of him.

"Don't worry, you just point to the food you want, I will make sure you get it, Okay?" hawkeye said giving Chris an encouraging smile.

The talking would have to wait, making the boy think for himself was also something he wanted to teach the child. And to make sure to take small steps, he thought letting Chris pick out his food would be a good start.

Nearing the man serving the food Chris started to get nervous again.

" Igor, Chris here is just going to point out what he wants, Okay? He's a bit shy" Hawkeye said knowing shy was an understatement.

"And give me the green beans, please. And some of that, even though it looks terrible" he said pointing to some potatoes.

Chris looked at Hawkeye and the food, he didn't know what he wanted, he never had a choice before. Hawkeye's tray was already full when Chris finally pointed to one of the options, looking at Hawkeye to see if it was alright for him to do that. Hawkeye smiled encouragingly.

It took some time but with both their trays full, Hawkeye led Chris to an empty table. Sitting next to Father Mulcahy with Trapper on the opposite of them.

Chris looked timid at the Priest as he sat down, sitting as close to Hawkeye as he could without completely sitting on the doctor's lap.

" Well eat up, but don't expect much of it though, the food died six times before being delivered here"

Chris looked at the doctor, he didn't understand much from that sentence, but he knew the man wanted him to eat. He liked this food, he normally didn't have a choice with eating, and sometimes he went days without food, so he wasn't picky.

"And how is our young visitor?" The Father asked Chris with a gentle smile after sipping his coffee.

Chris looked at the man but remained eating.

"He's fine, he slept well and he's eating. I called Sidney for him, to see if he could find out about the boy's parents. And I want to get some X-rays of him." Hawkeye explained between bites.

"X-rays? Trapper asked "Why? Do you got the feeling something is wrong?"

"Yesterday when he undressed in the shower I check him out briefly and one of his ribs seems to have a weird curve, " Pierce said.

"Is it broken?" The Father asked the doctors, concern clear in his voice.

"No, it's not loose or hurting Chris, so I think it's an old fracture already healed, but I want to find out how exactly what's wrong, and if there's more. I just want the whole complete picture."Hawkeye said. "But first let's visit Henry to get the weekend passes."

Pierce waited till Chris was finished eating before he asked the child if he wanted more. Chris shook his head at the question, he couldn't remember the last time he eat so much.

Hawkeye showed Chris where he could put his empty tray and the three of them left to go to Henry's office.

Chris was still wearing Hawkeye's stapled boxer and an old army shirt, but the temperature was warm enough and the boy was completely covered so it was fine for the moment.

After some convincing Henry agreed to the party and Hawkeye made his way over to the lucky nurse they picked to be raffled. It took some convincing from the doctor, but she also did agree to be raffled, it was for a good cause.

Getting the X-rays done with Chris was proving a bit of a challenge, getting the scared boy to stand still while there was a loud sound present took a couple of attempts to get it right.

Hawkeye needed all his patience for this, being a doctor he had plenty, especially with children. Hawkeye was packed in protected clothing and looked a bit like an alien, which the boy didn't like also. But after some time they got it right and now he got the boy seated with a magazine he found nearby, he didn't know if Chris could read but it kept the boy occupied while he went over the X-rays.

He immediately saw several old injuries that had healed on his own including some cracks on the small child's skull. His lowest rib was the worst one, the point was pointing slightly up, being broken and moved before healing. Looking at the healed fracture he didn't think that the boy would have trouble with it later on. His left upper leg also had a healed break and maybe he would have trouble with that when he got older, but he couldn't know for sure till later.

The kid had been beaten a lot, Hawkeye felt so angry, those people! if he ever found out who they were, he wouldn't know what he would do. As a doctor, he would never hurt anyone, but these people would and will be the exception to that rule if he found them.

Feeling anger radiate from the doctor, Chris pulled his eyes away from the picture book and looked at the man with a scared expression.

"I'm not angry at you, I promise" He added

After hearing that Chris relaxed a little, he knew basic English and this was clear to the boy.

After a latrine break for the boy, they went back to the Swamp.

"And? What did you find out" Trapper asked the moment they arrived.

"He got around three already healed fractures and some less old bruising, and a minor tear in his right collarbone. He also had some hits on his head in the past, but that's healed now as well." Hawkeye replied grimly.

Trapper looked sick at the information, being a father himself he couldn't imagine hurting a child that bad.

Chris sat down at his bunk and looked at the stuff around him, yesterday he was too tired to look around. All these things looked fascinating, never seen some of them.

Hawkeye put a couple of magazines on the child's bunk and said

"Go ahead, you are allowed to look at my stuff, however, I can't say that about Trapper's or anyone else their possessions, so you should ask before touching something that doesn't belong to you, Okay?"

Seeing the man wanted an answer Christopher nodded. He didn't dare to ask anything, but he would just stay away from other people and their things, he was delighted though that he may look at these picture books.

Checking all the different magazines, his mind wondered about all the things he saw in them.

Some of the things he saw activated his memories, but something still blocked them and it only caused his mind to go blank, not remembering anything at all. He still liked the pictures though. He could read a little but not much. He knew, he learned a different language, even if he couldn't remember which one. He was happy though with the little English he knew.

Hawkeye wrote his father about Chris and he explained a little about what they found out about him, which wasn't a lot. He did write about the X-rays they made and because his father was a doctor as well, he wanted the man's opinion of it.

He also asked for clothing and some children's books or comics, anything that a 9-year-old child would like would be good. he knew he had his old books as a child kept at his father's house and He knew the man wouldn't mind sending them over. He wanted to send the letter today and then he had weeks to wait for a reply.

Hawkeye and Trapper started counting the amount they collected this morning. But they only counted $600.

" That's not enough" Trapper stated the obvious.

Thinking about it hawkeye looked at Franks's side of the tent.

"Ohh, well we haven't given everybody a chance to contribute,"

Hawkeye said walking to Franks's bunk.

"Hey, what are you doing in Franks gear?" Trapper asked the other man.

"Selling Nickel-Nose a ticket" hawkeye voiced scanning through frank his possessions. He must have money somewhere. He went through Frank his possessions only to find a Bible. While Pierce is looking through Burns' bible, Burns walked in and demands to know what is going on.

Throwing his hat on the floor in a fit, his face had the stiffest upper lip hawkeye had ever seen.

Frank was not a quiet person and hawkeye was amazed that Chris didn't jump out of his skin. The kid watched every move of the man with untrusting eyes. But he didn't get frightened, a bit nervous perhaps but nothing like yesterday with terror showing in his eyes.

"Oh, I just wanted to borrow your Bible, Frank". Pierce claims, looking completely serious.

Frank grabbed the Bible out of Hawkeye's hands, not believing a word the man said.

"I peeked at the end, Frank. The devil did it" Trapper said.

"Oh, shut up," Frank said pushing hawkeye away from his side of the tent.

Frank then goes on a long tirade about how Pierce and McIntyre are corrupting Ho-Jon, about their snide remarks towards him, about how they are turning the camp into a brothel, and about the fact that they are operating a still.

Getting louder and heated from his tirade, Frank walks over to the other side and grabs the still.

"Frank, I'm telling you, you drop that gin mill and your heads gonna go in the shop" Trapper said menacingly.

Frank runs across the tent, still in his arms. The other two men started their pursuit after him.

When Pierce and McIntyre finally cornered Burns, he flung the still on the ground and it breaks.

*BANG!*

Chris almost jumped off his bunk, looking terrified. Fast breathing and looking ready to bold.

" Thanks a lot. Frank." Hawkeye said refraining from hitting the other men on the head for good measure.

Hawkeye walked to the child and got to his eye level. He gently brushed the blond hair from the child's forehead. "It's okay". Chris felt his panic subside a little but he still watched Frank with suspicion.

Chris started to like the friendly touches, they made him feel like he wasn't alone anymore, it was nice and it made him care about the man. He still got alarmed by the sudden touches of affection but after the shock wore off he enjoyed them.

Hawkeye walked back to a stammering Frank.

"Oh...Um...listen guys. I'm sorry, I didn't know it was gonna break" Frank stated knowing the other men are angry.

"Oh that's okay, it's all right, Frank. Don't worry about it"

Pierce and McIntyre both said while picking up an empty duffel bag and capturing Frank with it by throwing it over his head. They stirred the man to the door. And while Frank was screaming bloody murder, Hawkeye opened the door and Trapper kicked him through.

" I thought he would never leave" hawkeye voiced.

Hawkeye looked at Chris for a moment to check if the child was startled, but he just looked stunned at what they did. He grinned at the small boy, and the big blue eyes connected with his. Hawkeye was pleased that he didn't see fear in them.

Later in the day, Henry Blake told the doctors the party was canceled because he had to leave for a couple of days, and he wasn't happy to be missing the party. The guys didn't mind that much, with Blake not there all they needed was a plan to keep Frank out of their business as well.

"Come with me," Hawkeye said to Chris before walking out, the child quickly obeyed and followed, he didn't want to be alone anyway.

They went to the nurse's tent because Kellye who is one of the nurses had made some clothes for Chris. They were made from her old clothes, and Hawkeye was grateful for them. Everyone wanted to help Christopher. Clothes were being handled, and he got some magazines and even got a small fairy tale book.

Kellye used green army shorts and a simple yellow t-shirt. The shorts were still a little long and they came below the knees, it looked kinda funny but he could grow into this, Kelly explained she made a simple waistband that could stretch around the waist as he got bigger, he was too skinny now anyway she said. Smiling gently at the boy.

Chris liked her, she seemed sweet, and she had a soft voice. She talked a lot about her family and that calmed Chris down, he loved hearing stories, even though he didn't always understand everything she said, he got some of it. Chris loved the emotion he was seeing from the woman, the people he knew didn't show their emotions, and because those people were not nice, he liked the change, he knew these people were different.

The other nurses seemed nice too, they reminded Chris of the women he knew before he was instructed to leave with the soldier. Chris didn't mind ladies around him, he felt safer with them than with other men. The ladies he met were not as easy to anger.

After a lot of flirting on Hawkeye's part and a lot of rejecting back from the ladies, they had to literally push Hawkeye out of their tent.

Admitting defeat Hawkeye took Chris, now wearing his new clothes to set everything in motion for the raffle.

Hawkeye asked if Chris liked the colors of the clothes and the child gave a smile.

Hawkeye kept asking Chris for his opinions, he wanted Christopher to think more, about what he wanted and what he liked. And asking couldn't hurt, he hoped the boy would find his voice soon if he ever would find it. Hawkeye kept denying the fact he started to care for the child but secretly he started to think about his options for adopting him.

While they are walking down to the camp, an announcement comes over the PA system informing the camp that everyone will be confined to duty and that all other activities are canceled by order of the acting commanding officer, Major Burns. This meant that Blake left for his trip and Frank was the one in charge.

Pierce refrained from throwing a rock at that commanding officer.

Later in the recovery room, Pierce was making his round tending the patients, Chris never far away. The child didn't have to stand next to him all the time anymore, but he needed to see Hawkeye to stay calm.

The soldiers of the day before left already, they were transported back to the front fighting, or the Tokyo hospital if they needed more time to heal.

When Frank walked in Hawkeye told the man he needed his opinion about a patient. He tells Burns to listen to somebody's heart.

Suspicious of the other doctors Burns bends over the patient to listen to his heart, Pierce quickly injects him with a sedative.

He and Trapper grinned and started wrapping bandages around Burns' face. Putting the man in bed, before Hawkeye leaves, he orders that the "patient" should be given a sedative every hour, on the hour.

Chris seemed stunned by what they were doing, Hawkeye give the boy a big smile. With that problem solved, they started preparing for the raffle.

Radar managed to get the weekend passes by letting Henry think he was ordering more ice cream while signing the paper. So everything was in falling into place.

Hours later of decorating and the party finally was in full swing, Chris stayed close to Hawkeye. Not daring to leave his side, there were a lot of people moving around and dancing, there were bright colorful decorations and music.

It was overwhelming. He watched everything with big eyes.

Chris had never seen something like this, he liked the music and the colors, but it was a lot for him and the people frightened him still.

He also kept losing Hawkeye in the crowd. He tried to stay near Hawkeye but also wanted to stay out of the other people's way. He wasn't allowed to bump into people, he knew they didn't like that.

Hawkeye was dancing with a nurse, their bodies pressed close together. He tried to get Chris to stay at the sideline on a chair where there would be fewer people walking in the way, the boy seemed terrified of touching people around him, but the moment Chris lost sight of the doctor he started searching for him again.

Trapper had the great idea to park the boy on one of the tables on the stage they made for the raffle. Making the boy sit higher so he could watch everybody better. Hawkeye handed Chris the book one of the nurses got him as a present. And provided the child with a plate of food and a glass of milk.

Chris was happy with the arrangement, he liked the book, it was a short tale and Chris couldn't read everything but he got the general idea of the story, thanks to the many pictures.

Hawkeye resumed his dancing with the lucky nurse, who was going to be raffled later on this evening.

Margaret interrupted Pierce, Asking about Frank, who went missing a couple of hours ago.

" Ohh, I thought you heard," Hawkeye said.

" heard what?" Margaret asked with concern showing on her face.

"Franks went over to the enemy. They offered him $100 more a week and a royalty on bedpans" hawkeye said completely serious.

Knowing that Hawkeye was joking, Margaret got angry. " When I find him, you'll be under arrest."

Doesn't bother me, Hawkeye said while he hold the nurse close and started dancing again.

" My spies tell me three companies of Canadians attacked hill 55 about an hour ago, by midnight, this place will be flooded with casualties. I don't plan to work if I'm busted. Why don't you stop worrying about Frank? Grab yourself a partner and give him a dancing physical." Hawkeye told Margaret while resuming his dancing.

She left the party fuming and calls General Hammond to complain about Pierce and McIntyre, the general told Margeret he would be on his way over there right away. Satisfied with the general's promise she resumed her duty to check in on the patients. When she pulls one patient's pants down to give him a shot, she recognizes Burns.

Pierce announces that they have raised $1800 for Ho-Jon and then has a name draw for the raffle. Radar who is the only one hearing a helicopter goes up to the helipad and greets General Hammond and Blake.

As Hammond enters the party, Pierce announces that Father Mulcahy is the winner of the raffle. Everybody cheered while Francis himself was shocked, what could he do with a nurse in Tokyo?

"ATTENTION" the General shouted, making to music and conversation stop.

Chris his heart jumped at the loud voice, panic overtook his body and he jumped as quickly and quietly from the table as he could. He went to stand behind Hawkeye, wanting to be close to the man he started to trust.

"Do I understand that the priest of this outfit has just won a weekend with a nurse, in Tokyo? The general said loudly.

"It's a prayer come true, " Pierce said raising his glass.

"Who are you?" Hammond asked.

"Captian Benjamin Franklin Pierce. And who are you sarge?" Hawkeye asked

"What do you think this star means! " the general said furiously pointing at his general star.

"You're Tinker Bell?" Hawkeye replied jokingly

He thought the general would explode judging by his expression.

But it was Henry who exploded and told the doctors this was General Hammond.

"Where is McIntyre? " the general demanded. A loud "Yo, here" was heard as Trapper appeared next to Pierce.

"You and Pierce are both under arrest." Hammond demands

At that moment Houlihan enters with Burns trailing behind her, still, a bit sedated, and bandages still wrapped around his head.

"The mummy strikes, " Pierce said in fake shock. He felt a small hand grab his shirt, Chris looked frightening but not completely in a panic so hawkeye decided to ignore it, the boy probably wanted some contact to feel safe from this yelling man.

Chris didn't want to be seen by the yelling man as well, because of the way the boy was hiding behind the doctor. Hawkeye decided to give the boy that, by making himself a bigger front, standing a bit broader than normal.

Margeret looked furious, she explains, "Those two, they're ruining this war for all of us!"

"Get the MPs Henry, " Hammond said. " On the double!"

"Now get moving. You're under arrest" he said to the doctors.

" Oh no, I'm afraid we can't do that general" Trapper said putting his hands in the pockets of his bathrobe.

" It's a good idea though, I like it. I would do the same thing in his place" Hawkeye said

"I hear choppers" Radar announced before running off.

"I don't hear any choppers"

The general said looking confused. "Wait for it, those choppers are gonna be filled with Canadians, who went to a different party tonight.

Without us, a lot of those kids are not getting home from that party." Hawkeye said highly irritated. He didn't wait for an answer as he left with Chris behind him.

"You can stay close to me, but stay out of my way, I need room to do my job, " He said to Chris on the way. The boy nodded

After the triage, the doctors were washing their hands, they convinced the general to help operate as the man was a doctor as well.

"Chris, you can stay in the O.R but you have to scrub"

The boy jumped into action earning a smile from the doctor.

" From who is the kid, " Hammond asked, noticing the child only now.

"He's mine, " hawkeye said without even having to think about it.

Chris looked at Hawkeye, did he hear that right? His? He could stay with the man? Christopher already liked hawkeye but he didn't realize Hawkeye felt the same. It filled him with happiness and a small smile came through aimed at the doctor.

A big grin broke free and Hawkeye almost cheered at the smile of the boy. He loved to see the boy smile.

"Why on earth would you bring your son to a war zone!" the general said outraged.

" I didn't take him with me, I found him here and taking him back"

Hawkeye said. He was done with scrubbing and this conversation, even though he loved that the general called Chris his son.

"So far for writing my wife" Trapper mumbles but gives a wink to the boy. Chris didn't understand the winking but it seemed like a good thing so he let it go.

During the O.R, Radar brought Chris his book and also some sterilized pencils, and some paper so that he had something to do.

Chris looked at the paper and back at Radar who was trying to explain how to draw a house real quick.

Chris looked at the paper, it looked so empty. Picking up a pencil he started copying the words from his book, some he knew and some he didn't know. Just to fill the paper.

Looking at Hawkeye, he saw the man smile at him, so that must mean I'm doing something good. It made him happy, but that also scared him. It's only been two days.

After the session, general Hammond walked out of the O.R feeling stiff all over. "Well, I haven't put in a stretch like that for years, Henry, " he said to the man next to him.

"Makes you remember what's it all about doesn't it."

Henry said.

"Henry, those two maniacs are the best surgeons I have ever seen. Made me feel like a horse doctor in there. Now, make sure you don't lose them. Not even to me."

"Yes sir" Henry replied cheerfully and shook the man's hand.

Just after the General left, Hawkeye and Trapper walk out of the O.R.

"Hey, Where is he going, didn't he want to arrest us or something, we're ready to go." Hawkeye said.

"Forget it." Henry announced "he was too impressed to have you guys arrested.

"We did it again, shrewd up in reverse, maybe we should use rusty equipment next time," Hawkeye said putting a hand on Chris his head, the boy immediately went rigid but calmed down a second later.

"Stop washing our hands" Trapper added.

"Raising our prices," Hawkeye said.

First, they had dinner together, letting Chris decide again over his food. It went a little easier this time, he was getting to know the people.

"So your kid, huh ?" Trapper said with a playful chuckle. After they entered the Swamp.

" Oh shut up," Hawkeye said throwing his pillow to the other man, who laughed and ducked just in time.

Noticing the time, Hawkeye told Chris to get ready for bed only to be answered back with a confused look.

Hawkeye scolded himself a bit for not explaining as he saw Chris's eyes turn fearful.

Earlier today he was visited by a local tailor and he ordered a bunch of stuff for the child. He knew he was crazy denying that he wanted to keep the child, but he still tried. The clothes would take a while to be made so for now they still had zero.

"Well, normally you would put on your pajamas," he explained. "but you don't have any yet, and I even forgot to order one." Hawkeye sighed "But I will do that tomorrow, and for now you can choose, you can sleep with a big t-shirt with the stapled boxer, or without underwear." The T-shirt would be big enough anyway, but if Chris wanted to use the latrine at night the boxer would be warmer.

Hawkeye was relieved to see the fear subside in the child's eyes. Chris went to the small suitcase Hawkeye found, Hawkeye said that Chris could put his stuff there. Chris didn't believe him at the time, he never had things of his own. But now he had a couple of things already.

He took the boxers and one of Hawkeye's shirts and looked at hawkeye for approval. Hawkeye gave him the thumbs up. Chris didn't really know what that meant but hawkeye seemed happy, so he started changing into them.

"After putting on your sleep clothes you should brush your teeth. I got the standard army-issue toothbrush for you, it's a little big for you, sorry about that, but it's better than nothing"

Hawkeye said friendly.

Chris had never heard of something like that and gave a confusing look. "Don't worry, I'll show you" Hawkeye said getting his toothbrush and his army helm. He filled the helm with water and returned to the Swamp. Normally he hung his helm to the nail on the tent pole so that he had a little water bowl right in front of him. But Chris was smaller so he put the helm on his chair.

"You just try to copy me, okay?" Hawkeye told Chris reassuringly.

At the taste of the toothpaste, Chris made a startled face. It tasted so weird but so familiar at the same time, he felt sad for a second before it got blocked.

Hawkeye saw the different emotions flash through the boy's eyes before he got the blank stare. It only lasted for a second and he didn't stop brushing. Even though it was a bit clumsy with the big brush.

Trapper was already asleep on his bunk, as Hawkeye tugged Chris in for the night. "Goodnight kiddo," he said affectionately suppressing the urge to plant a kiss on the kid's forehead.

Instead, he caressed Chris's hair before he went to lay down himself.
