The jeep raced over the dirt roads, Hawkeye didn't want to waste any time getting there. Chris had to hold on tight as he tried to stay in his seat while still protecting his toy bird. Maybe it wasn't a good idea to bring it, but he didn't think about it at the time, and now he regrets taking it.

"Wheeeheee" Radar yelled happily as he seemed to love the speed. Chris looked at him confused, he could do without the speed as he grabbed his seat tight.

Radar pointed out an army checkpoint, but Hawkeye didn't care as he didn't stop and just drove past at high speed. Radar was not happy, this was definitely the first sign of trouble! He looked helplessly as he drove past the soldier who called ahead to the next checkpoint, he mumbled to himself that he knew it!

Because the checkpoint was called ahead, they were stopped by a jeep with another two soldiers. Hawkeye had to stop this time as the jeep was parked in the middle of the road and the man knew they would start shooting if he didn't stop. He wasn't too fond of that idea, especially with his son in the backseat.

So the doctor stopped, but not before he told Chris to hide as he didn't want any extra attention on them. He told Radar to lie down and act sick as he quickly came up with an idea.

The doctor smooth-talked the soldier into believing Radar was sick and very contagious. The worried soldier let them quickly pass and Hawkeye sped off.

They arrived at Kimpo and parked the jeep. Chris seemed very happy they stood still, the boy's hair was all messed up and he looked kind of pale, and after Hawkeye lifted him out of the jeep he stood a bit unsteady on his legs.

Hawkeye brushed the child's hair a bit flatter and told Chris to stay close. Hawkeye didn't see the boy nod, as he was already looking at where to find Trapper. He knew Chris would stay close no matter what.

Radar left to find Captain Hunnicut and Hawkeye ran towards the MATS office. Inside he finds a sergeant who is very busy on the phone attempting to straighten out an order of odd foods and items for a general. Hawkeye tried to read the files but got stopped by the man.

A highly irritated Hawkeye asks for and gets the stateside flight manifest, and finds out that Trapper's flight back home left ten minutes before Hawkeye arrived. Hawkeye felt dreadful, only TEN lousy minutes!

He sighed and put his arm around Chris to give him a quick hug, he needed a couple of seconds to compose himself before they walked back outside.

Outside they met up with Radar, who had found Hunnicutt.

Hawke told the clerk with outrage that he just missed Trapper by ten minutes.

The tall new man had a gentle face and smiled at Hawkeye as he introduced himself as BJ Hunnicut. Hawkeye simply said hi and turned back to Radar to complain about him missing his friend. If he had just packed his bags on time, or just made sure they could contact him then he wouldn't have missed the man.

"Who's the kid?" BJ said with curiosity as he looked at the small child next to Hawkeye. "He's mine" Hawkeye answered he looked closely at his child's reaction towards this new man, with Trapper gone just like that, he didn't know exactly how Chris would react.

Chris started the tremble a bit as he saw the man looking at him. He started to feel a bit scared. 'That man is looking at me! '

The boy thought fearfully as he held his bird close to his chest as looked up at BJ's smiling face with big eyes.

"You brought your kid to war?" The man asked the other doctor. Hawkeye was a bit tired of hearing that question so he joked

"Yeah, I thought it would be funny, I could use him as a shield. Small and easy to hold out in front of you." He got a strange look from the other man as Radar quickly told him that Hawkeye was joking.

Hawkeye started telling that he found the child and adopted him and that Chris just refused to leave. He didn't explain more than that, as they would have time for that later. He hoped the man would be nice to the child even if the boy woke him up at 3 in the morning.

BJ looked at Chris and saw the boy look back with a scared expression.

"You don't have to be scared," BJ said. The man got down to eye level with the child and pointed to the bird. "I like your bird"

He said with a smile.

Chris took a step back and bumped against his dad, as he gave a small smile, he liked this man, this new guy liked his bird, while Radar didn't even comment on it, except for the "Yeah, that's nice Chris" before the clerk brushed the bird out of his face. He knew his friend was busy, but still.

"T-Thank you," The child said with a soft voice. It was only polite to say thank you after getting a compliment. And he wanted to be nice to this man. The guy would be living with them from now on, and he wanted BJ to like him.

BJ seemed happy with the answer and gave the boy a big smile. He wanted to caress the child on his head, but Chris flinched and BJ stopped, got up, and looked at Hawkeye with questioning eyes.

Hawkeye told him he would explain later as he brushed over the boy's head, Chris was already calmed down again, and another thing that made Hawkeye proud was his kid was also very polite, even though he didn't get that from Hawkeye.

"Let's go home," Hawkeye said.

They turned towards the jeep but only found an empty spot.

"Where is the jeep, Radar?"

Hawkeye asked the clerk who stood with an open mouth watching the empty spot. "It's right here!" the clerk said, slightly panicked.

"Radar, there is no jeep here. There's only a whole lot here."

Radar then starts to panic as he kept saying that he knew there was going to be trouble, he just knew it! And now the jeep was stolen. He tried calling for the MP's but in his hurry almost got run over, Hawkeye pulled the man back just in time.

The smaller man was outraged and panicked as Hawkeye tried to calm him down. He put his hands on the clerk's shoulders and listened to the man rambling about the jeep being his responsibility and government property!

He let Radar ramble for a while before he told the clerk that he, Radar, was also government property.

This stopped the clerk, as the man never thought about that.

Hawkeye told Radar they should welcome BJ to this wonderful country with food and drinks. He takes them to the Officer's Club to think things over, but when Radar points out the club is only for officers, Hawkeye quickly devises a solution, taking one of Hunnicutt's set of captain's bars and pinning it on Radar's cap.

"Is this what they call a field promotion?" BJ jokes.

Hawkeye nodded as he said

"For being brave and nearsighted above and beyond the call."

Hawkeye declares that Radar is now a "Corporal Captain". Which the late teen didn't appreciate at all he only seemed more anxious.

Chris giggled as Hawkeye had to push the clerk inside.

As they walked in the nervous clerk did appear completely out of place and got some angry stares as they ordered their drinks and took a seat at the bar.

Even the bartender gave the clerk a look like he didn't believe the man was even old enough to be in the army, as Radar ordered his Grape Nehi. Hawkeye asked for a peach Nehi as well, but the bartender didn't give Hawkeye any look at all.

Chris climbed on a stool and happily drank his Nehi. He put the little bird next to Radar, hoping his friend would see it.

It took some time and some not-so-subtle prompting from Hawkeye before the very nervous Radar did see it, making the clerk remember that he never really answered the child about the bird.

"Ohh, wow that is a nice bird!" Radar said. He looked a bit uncomfortable and very uneasy as he tried to make conversation with the happy boy while keeping an eye on the mean-looking bartender.

Chris told Radar about finding the toy and the great toy store they visited, and what he saw there. The boy rambled a bit, but he spoke softly and seemed very happy, and it made it easier for Radar to pretend he was paying attention. He wanted to listen to his friend, he really did, but there was also a mean-looking general on his left that kept staring at him.

Hawkeye glanced toward BJ and saw the man smile, Hawkeye felt a bit relieved, he knew BJ had to share their tent, so he was glad to see the man being happy with his son's rambling.

Chris had a huge smile as he happily was telling Radar that the bird could also sing and move and had his hand ready to start winding him up before his dad quickly took it away from him.

The last thing they needed was more attention from a loud children's toy inside a bar. Hawkeye thought as he looked at the fallen expression of his son.

"I'm sorry, but no toys on the table or in this case the bar." the man said, putting the bird away.

Chris pouted and wanted to say something but before he could open his mouth Hawkeye mouthed No.

'That's not fair!' Chris thought. 'When Radar finally looked interested in his bird, his dad took it away! Stupid!

Chris sighed, gave his dad an annoyed look, and took a sip of his drink.

Ignoring his son pouting, Hawkeye welcomes BJ to Korea, and they clink their glasses. And started talking. BJ tells Hawkeye he lives in the San Francisco suburb of Mill Valley, California, he got his doctorate from Stanford University Medical School and was drafted during his residency in Sausalito while his wife Peg was eight months pregnant.

During his five-week training period at Fort Sam Houston, Peg gave birth to their daughter Erin, and while they were out on a date (her first one since giving birth), B.J. gets a call to ship out in two days.

Hawkeye in turn tells the man about the 4077th, and about the two amazing guys he just missed out on, Henry Blake and Trapper John.

He continues about Ferret-Face Frank, which earned him a giggle from Chris. Hawkeye looked at the boy and felt very proud he didn't seem scared at all, of course, he was surrounded by his dad and friend, but it was still a strange small crowded bar.

Hawkeye smiled and racked his fingers through the boy's blond hair.

He told BJ he'd be sleeping with them in the tent, and so started the conversation about Chris's nightmares. Hawkeye hoped BJ wouldn't mind as much, his son always felt terrible for waking everyone up.

As the conversation turned to his nightmares, Chris gasped, "No, dad! " he said softly, he didn't want BJ to know, it was embarrassing! He tapped his dad urgently.

But his dad only shushed him and told him that BJ should know that the man would be sleeping in the same tent.

Thankfully, BJ just laughed and said that after Erin was born he would consider himself lucky if he got four full hours of sleep a night.

Hawkeye smiled at the man, he had a good feeling about BJ. They stayed till they had finished their drinks, and decided they needed to get back.

Right before they go outside, a General, parks in front of the Officer's Club and goes inside with his aide. Seeing the jeep when they go out, Hawkeye decides their jeep has been returned.

Radar didn't agree as the nervous clerk yelled in a nervous high tone.

"That's a general's jeep! "

"No, no, no, no. What they've done to get inside the officers club is they put a general's flag on our jeep." Hawkeye quickly reassured the clerk.

"It's not!" a stressed Radar told the doctor.

"I can prove it, test me!" Hawkeye said as he put his hand before his eyes and said.

"It's army green?"

"Well yeah, but..."

"Made in Detroit?"

"They all are..."

"Has mud underneath and four seats that reduce your behind to tears?"

"Yeah but..."

"They couldn't fool me for a minute! " Hawkeye said tossing the General's flag away,

Radar almost had a heart attack as nervous as he was. The clerk didn't like this at all. He was responsible for that jeep and now Hawkeye was stealing another one.

Seeing he had no choice as Hawkeye helped Chris into the jeep and gave back his bird toy, he sighed accepting his fate but insists on driving since Hawkeye and BJ have been drinking. Hawkeye agrees to ride shotgun while BJ gets in the back seat with Chris.

The child had the bird on his lap as he played a little with its wings.

"May I have a look at that?" BJ asked Chris, the boy looked shocked at the man. "I just want to look, I won't harm it, I think Erin would love something like this when she's a little older." Chris had his doubts but decided to trust the man as he handed the toy over.

BJ seemed amazed by the little toy, making Chris very happy.

BJ quickly gave it back and Chris started talking about the toy and the toys he had at the Swamp.

He sounded unsure and very shy, but not fearful, Hawkeye noticed, and it seemed as if the child had already accepted his new roommate. Hawkeye was a bit stunned at this development. It seemed that the child had already formed some type of friendship with this new man. It was amazing that Chris could adapt so much easier than when he was found.

On their drive back they encounter the same MP stopping them again. Hawkeye tells Chris to hide away, just to avoid a lot of questions. Chris was known around here, as he had his file included with the 4077th files, but they would stand out with Chris with them, and the fewer people know the better.

It took some convincing, but Hawkeye managed to make the MP believe the sick man was now driving the jeep and BJ was called in to help operate on the man later back at the 4077th.

The MP was almost convinced but noticed the jeep was a whole different one.

Hawkeye couldn't convince him on that one and he wanted to report it, until Radar acted like he was having a seizure and the man quickly dismissed them, afraid he was going to be contaminated with the fake illness of the clerk.

They didn't drive as fast as before but BJ still lost his hat thanks to the bumpy dirt roads.

They drive by a local farm, and Hawkeye suddenly tells Radar to stop, when he sees two young Korean girls dangerously checking a nearby field for mines.

Their father, mother, and little brother stood next to the road watching, the father held the rope attached to a big ox.

The clerk stopped and Hawkeye shouted for the girls to stop. "What's happening?" Chris asked his dad, Hawkeye quickly explained what the girl was doing, while he and Radar tried to make them stop.

The girls wanted to, but their father had other plans and they resumed their searching. Hawkeye jumped out of the jeep followed by the rest of them, Chris more or less stumbled out, in his hurry to follow his dad.

He was still feeling the nagging fear, the fear that if he lost sight of his dad something terrible would happen. Henry and Trapper had proved that theory a little as well.

Hawkeye ran toward the man guiding his daughters from afar. He tried to tell the man he should stop but the Korean man didn't speak any English.

The man shouted to his daughters to continue. Hawkeye was outraged and shouted at the man. He even tried to insult the guy in Korean but Radar let him know he ended up calling him an umbrella.

As Hawkeye tried to find the right insult he got interrupted by a loud bang. After they flinched away, Radar was the first to act and run straight toward the wounded girl.

Chris gasped as he saw his friend run towards the minefield, his panic rising as he thought of Henry and Trapper, he couldn't lose his best friend! He stopped thinking and started running after the clerk.

He got as far as three steps before he heard loud footsteps behind him before he felt himself get grabbed by the back of his shirt. He almost flew back by the force his dad grabbed his shirt but he had no time to think about it as Hawkeye snatched Chris's arm and held it tight with an iron grip.

The doctor saw his kid run and acted out of instinct, grabbing him with more force than he normally would, but he didn't think about it as he saw Radar run through the field. He just needed Chris to stay put while his eyes followed his friend through the minefield.

He started shouting to the clerk to come back, that the man stood in the middle of a MINEFIELD! As BJ urgently tried to do the same.

Chris whimpered a little as his arm started to hurt a bit, the moment his dad grabbed him, he understood what he had done, and the realization hit and he knew he was in so much trouble.

Hawkeye briefly looked at him and the hurt expression on his Dad's face broke Chris's heart, he hadn't meant to scare his Dad, it just happened.

"P-papa, I'm sorry..." he mumbled, as he tried to pull his arm free, but his dad's grip had him locked. At the pulling of his son, Hawkeye did loosen his grip a little, but he didn't let go.

They saw Radar running towards the girl and he quickly picked her up.

Chris tried to pull his arm free again, but he quickly got pulled towards his dad as his dad loudly and hard, smacked his backside.

SMACK!*

Chris cried out, not expecting it. "Ow!" The boy's face and ears turned scarlet, and tears sprung in his eyes as Chris hopped a little as tried to rub the pain away from his backside. "Ow, dad!" he said sadly.

Hawkeye didn't release his arm or say something, he was still yelling things to Radar who was now returning as he carried the girl.

He and Chris would talk about this later, this was the first time Chris did something so dangerous for a friend. Hawkeye knew Chris would stop thinking and follow him but now the child seemed to do that with Radar as well.

Only after Radar safety returned from the field, did Hawkeye let go of Chris's arm.

They rushed over to collect the girl from the clerk. She had several fragments in her leg, but other than that seemed to be intact.

BJ took her from Radar and carried her to the jeep as Hawkeye put his slightly sniffing child in there as well before he climbed in the driver seat himself. The rest of the Korean family wanted to go as well and they all got in. Giving Chris almost a panic attack, the boy quickly climbed to sit at the front between his dad and BJ who had the girl on his lap. He sat a bit closer to his dad, as he calmed down a little.

Poor radar was stuck in the back with the mother, sister, and small brother of the wounded girl and even the dad tried to climb in, still holding on to the ox.

Hawkeye yelled to the man, "No Ox! No Ox! " But the man didn't understand him as he kept trying to get in.

"Radar, tell'em." Hawkeye tried but the clerk just yelled

"No Ox! No Ox! "as well, so Hawkeye tried to explain as he pointed to the street till the man got the idea.

The man stepped down and they drove off to the nearest local hospital.

"That was very brave, Radar, running, into a minefield," Hawkeye said

"Oh wow, that was brave!" Radar said as if he just realized what he did.

Chris gasped "Niet eerlijk!" the boy said softly but a bit offended.

Hawkeye looked at him confused. "What?"

Chris realized he spoke Dutch and he tried again, "I-it's not fair!" Hawkeye felt his anger rise as he raised his eyebrow, making Chris extra nervous.

Chris felt the anger radiate from the man but knew his dad wanted an answer, so he collected his courage and said.

"W-w-why is Radar brave, a-and I got s-s-spa... uh... punished?"

His dad looked at him, Hawkeye's expression made the child regret he said anything. If his dad got angry his eyes seemed to get darker and now they looked dark gray like a hurricane instead of blue, making the boy shudder.

"You wanna know why? Hawkeye turned his eyes back on the road. He drove pretty fast but tried to drive carefully.

"Radar isn't my son! I don't want you to be brave! I want you alive!"

Chris started to sniffle as his eyes blurred and he wiped them, trying not to cry. He had tried so hard to stop crying as much, but he just couldn't do it. He messed up everything and now his dad was so angry with him.

"Not that I want you dead, Radar, but you know," Hawkeye said as he parked the jeep.

Radar mumbled something like "I know" and he started helping BJ carry the woman inside, with the rest of her family following.

Chris wiped his eyes, he stopped crying but was close to starting again. his dad was so angry, He felt bad, He felt horrible, He didn't want him to be mad at him anymore.

Chris had been very good this week, with no problem, No bad behavior. and one moment of not thinking has got him into trouble. The tears threatened to fall again as he looked at his dad and said he was sorry.

BJ and Radar returned, and Hawkeye waited till they took their seats before driving off.

Hawkeye looked at his son, he was still pissed, but more hurt and sad than actually angry. He felt terrified as he saw Radar run into that field but it felt as if his insides froze when he saw his son do the same.

He thought he was clear with his last spanking but clearly, he was wrong. Hawkeye knew he had to follow through on the threat he made after the last spanking, and he hated it.

"I can't believe you just ran after Radar!" Hawkeye grumbled. He looked at his son briefly before looking at the road again.

"Even after last time! Do you remember what I said, after your last spanking? Also because you did something stupid like today!"

Chris blushed and said "Daaaaad! Stop it!" he looked at him pleadingly. he was so embarrassed, why did his dad say stuff like that?

He didn't want the new guy and Radar to hear or even know about him being spanked.

"Christopher! You do not whine at me and if you don't remember I can explain it to you again!"

"N-no, sir. I'm sorry…" Christopher quickly mumbled, he was a bit ashamed of himself. He had never done that before and it was something only small kids do. He was already ten years old. He just needed his dad to stop saying such things.

"Good! Now listen here! We will talk about this later. Now I want you to stay close and don't run into minefields or stand in front of guns or any other dangerous thing, ok?"

"Yes, sir." Chris agreed, knowing it wasn't a question. He wiped away his tears as he shyly sought comfort from his dad.

His dad didn't say anything, just let him lean against him as Hawkeye briefly stroked his hair before putting his hands back on the wheel.

BJ thought it was safe for another conversation as he asked Chris what language that was. Chris just shook his head as he snuggled closer to his dad, He didn't want to talk, and he felt terrible.

So Hawkeye took it upon himself to answer.

The ride was pretty smooth until one of the tires blew, the adults stepped out, and Hawkeye told Chris to stay put. While they were busy changing the tire a small group of Korean locals walked by.

After a second Hawkeye looked up and saw that they all seemed to have disappeared, which meant they went into the woods. Making it a big possibility that these are enemy guerillas. Hawkeye tells Chris to hide and stay hidden, as the adults quickly try to change the tire.

The first shot was fired and the doctor doubled his effort to change it rapidly. Hawkeye needed Chris to stay put, so he kept talking out loud, that way Chris knew he was alright and he didn't have to look.

Now it really started to rain bullets, but thankfully the guerillas were bad shots and they just had the tire on, they jumped in, and quickly drove off.

Hawkeye promptly asked if Chris was alright, the boy came from beneath his hiding place, and told his dad he was fine. Hawkeye was thankful Chris was so small he could hide easily under the seats of the jeep.

Further, still down the road, the four ran into an American patrol and made some small talk.

A mortar suddenly exploded near them. They stopped driving and jumped out, Hawkeye grabbed Chris, again thankful for him being so small, and ran towards cover.

Chris gasped as he got grabbed and dropped his bird on the ground next to the jeep, he hadn't had time to think as more explosions followed and several people screamed out in pain.

Running as fast as they could they jumped underneath an army truck, Hawkeye pressed Chris to the ground, while the child trembled. The boy wasn't as scared as he once was, he started to get used to this and even though it scared him, it didn't get him into a panic.

The explosions stopped and Hawkeye crawled towards a fallen soldier close to them, but the man was already dead. They heard someone calling for a medic and the doctors jumped into action, Chris following Hawkeye closely, only a step away.

Walking towards the screams they found the wounded man, and Hawkeye crouched next to him, grabbing a medical bag. He tore the man's shirt apart to get access to his wound as he told Radar to call for choppers. Bj found another man near them and went over to help the man.

Next, Hawkeye found one soldier lying on his belly and two other men close by, as Hawkeye came closer, he checked the man on his belly and noticed the man didn't have his whole face, but just a bigger part of it, some was blown off and he was very much dead. The doctor quickly moved on, the other two needed his attention a lot more as they both looked like they were bleeding a lot.

Hawkeye started with the first man, but the second man was bleeding a lot also, he couldn't do them both at the same time.

He didn't need to think about it "Chris! Try to stop the bleeding okay! " he threw the medical bag toward his son. Chris nodded and started, the boy had seen this a thousand times, and even helped sometimes during triage, during the times there weren't enough staff, like that time almost everyone got sick. Hawkeye worked on his patient while watching his son closely.

Chris worked fast but didn't have the strength to pull the bandages very tight, but for now, it was saving the man's life.

Hawkeye finished his patient and helped Chris with the second. The child did a great job, cleaned the wound and everything, Hawkeyes just needed to tighten the bandages, and he was ready for transfer to the MASH unit.

Radar and BJ joined them again and BJ started towards the casualty Hawkeye had already found to be dead. Insisting on trying, B.J. turns the man's body upright, but in horror, stumbles away, as he quickly drops the body again. Hastily he crawls away to empty his stomach.

Hawkeye rapidly finished up and followed the man to help him. It happened every time with all the new people. The worst thing is, you get used to this blood and death. He held BJ's forehead as the man retched for hopefully the last time.

Someone called again for a medic and Hawkeye stood straight and helped his new friend up.

After a while, they got everyone stable and are again on the way back to the 4077th. Chris found his bird again but it had a slight dent and looked like someone stepped on him.

It wasn't that bad, and his dad told him he could try to fix it. While Radar told him it gave the bird more personality. Chris got a smile as he kinda agreed to that.

Hawkeye was dead tired, 'What a day!' He thought. He was proud of his son but also very disappointed at the same time. And he knew he had to punish the boy when they got back. He didn't look forward to that at all.

They are almost at the end of their journey, as they stop at Rosie's Bar just outside the camp.

Radar warns Hawkeye that they should bring B.J. to camp first, but Hawkeye insists "We have to start him on his ulcer first", so he takes B.J. inside and buys him sake with beer while Radar and Chris have their usual Nehi's.

Hawkeye describes the camp to B.J., the conditions, and the people B.J. will be working with, summarizing the whole situation with, "So pitch in, muddle through, pip-pip and the whole schmear."

A while later, a drunken Hawkeye and B.J. stumble out of the bar. Once again, Hawkeye tries to insist on driving but Radar refuses. They finally arrive at camp and unevenly scramble out of the jeep, and Hawkeye introduces B.J. to Frank and Margaret. To their horror, B.J. tosses off a lazy drunken salute before bursting out with "What say, Ferret Face?" before collapsing to his knees, clasping himself to Margaret's legs while Hawkeye collapses in hysterical laughter.

The doctors managed to find the Swamp safely, even if it was a bit graceless. They had a lot of fun getting there while Frank was shouting at them, but they just laughed too hard to care.

An hour later Radar brought them their dinner secretly with some coffee, Frank wouldn't approve and the man was already making his life difficult. The doctors were sobering up a little after they had something to eat and some coffee. BJ started to unpack some of his stuff.

Hawkeye took a sip from his coffee and looked at Chris, the boy's bedtime was coming up, and they still needed to have their talk.

Normally he wouldn't have waited with spanking his son, but after today, he and BJ needed a drink and some time to get their emotions in check.

Hawkeye lost his friend today, even though the man was safe at home, he would miss him.

The boy looked nervously up at his dad after he felt the man's eyes on him. Chris had played a little but was very anxious about being punished, he felt a lump in his throat, as he saw his dad deep in thought. This was not good.

"Chris, you get ready for bed!" The man stood up and mumbled to himself about where his slippers were.

Chris's stomach seemed to do a flip, and dread filled his body as he heard his dad talk about the slipper, he had hoped his dad at least forgot about the slipper. 'Nooo! Not that!' He thought. He wanted to object but didn't want to anger his dad any more than he already was so he put on his pajamas and brushed his teeth, while Hawkeye looked around the tent for his slippers.

Chris knew where they were but he wasn't about to tell the man. He saw them way under the bed.

He finished his bedtime routine and didn't know what to do now, so he just nervously waited for his dad.

Hawkeye saw his kid was ready, but couldn't seem to find those stupid slippers. BJ throws some clothes out of his suitcase and some shoes including a new pair of sandals.

He promised his son a spanking with a slipper and that was what he was gonna do. He picked up BJ's slipper and heard Chris gasp. He looked over and saw Chris, the boy's expression almost comically shocked as he watched with big eyes as Hawkeye lifted the large slipper.

'No!' Chris thought. His body filled with dread. 'That thing is huge! He couldn't!' Tears filled his eyes as he looked at his dad pleading for him not to use that thing.

This was just mean! "No! P-papa... Don't!" he said softly, his voice two times higher than normal.

Hawkeye looked at his son but didn't respond as he held up the huge slipper for BJ to see and say. "BJ, I'm borrowing this!"

"Yeah, sure. Wait, what? Are you gonna spank your kid with my slipper? I just got those, can't you use your own?" the man said.

"I can't find my own. You'll get it back, it will only take a couple of minutes and I'm just borrowing it, it won't break either," Hawkeye said as he heard Chris softly starting to cry.

"You know what, you just keep them! I will get another pair," BJ said as he put his stuff away in his trunk.

Hawkeye asked the man if he was sure before he called Chris over. He sat down on his cot and put the slipper next to him, as the small boy seemed to be frozen on the spot, Chris stood in the middle of the tent with big teary eyes and shook his head no.

He didn't want to go! BJ was still here, and that slipper was the biggest he'd ever seen.

"Christopher! Now, front and center!" Hawkeye said as he pointed to the spot in front of him. He hated his kid disobeying during punishment, it was highly disrespectful, and he didn't have the patience for it.

Chris cried a bit harder, his face and ears were bright red.

His dad didn't even seem to care that BJ was right there, and Chris didn't want the man to see this, it would be embarrassing, very embarrassing! And he wanted BJ to like him, but his dad was having none of that.

He let out a big sob as he very slowly made his way over, normally he would've rushed to his dad if he was using that phrase and tone, but he was dreading that slipper a lot!

"Wait! You're doing this now? Here?" BJ said.

"Yeah, where else? I can't wait any longer, it's already past his bedtime. " Hawkeye said as he got hold of Chris's arm who finally came into his reach. He positioned the boy between his knees. The child was crying as he wiped his eyes with his sleeve.

"Alrighty then... Then I guess I'll be off. I should go check in officially with ferret-face anyway." BJ said before he got out.

Chris let out a bigger sob as he tried to convince his dad that he didn't have to punish him.

But he only got an extra smack to his bottom as his dad said. "Oh I have to, and I will! Didn't I tell you I would do this if you did something dangerous without thinking? You will be punished and you're not gonna like it!" His dad looked at his son strictly.

"Y-Yes sir," said the small voice "B-b-but... It's a v-very big slipper!" it sounded a bit like a whine while he looked at the man with big puppy eyes.

Hawkeye didn't appreciate the tone of his son. The child was already in big trouble. Seriously he said "I know, BJ got huge feet. This will work nicely "

"Daaad! " Chris almost squeaked, "Can't you use your own?" the child managed to say between sobs.

"I can't find my own, and I want this to be finished already!" He wanted to grab the boy's arm but Chris took a step back quickly.

"They're under the bed!" Chris whispered, he immediately saw by the look his dad gave him that that was the wrong thing to say.

"Wait what? Did you know where they were this whole time?"

Chris was shocked as he looked up at his dad, he didn't think that one through. 'Did I know? Of course, I did! I even kicked them a bit further away!' He thought. But of course, he didn't want his father to know that.

His silence and quilty expression were enough of an answer for his dad to reach out, grab him and pull him closer before he gave Chris a firm smack. "Ow!" The child hopped up and down rubbing his bottom.

He tried to step away again, but his dad took hold of him again and pulled him back.

"Now, I'm definitely going to use this, you just dug yourself deeper into trouble! Better yet, BJ gave this to me, so after this spanking, you can put them safely in your trunk until I have to use it again. Is that understood!" Chris was crying in earnest now as he said "Yes sir" between loud sobs, knowing it was the only answer his dad wanted.

"Let's just hope these make enough of an impression on your backside, that I won't need to use them for a long time! Now let's get this over with!" Hawkeye tapped the boy's thigh, "Now! Drop those pants."

Chris let out a rough sob as he with trembling hands pushed his PJ bottom down. He knew he couldn't convince his dad not to punish him, especially now. He went slow and barely got them down, he stopped just over his bottom but his dad didn't mind as he hauled the boy over his knees and pushed the fabric lower till mid-thigh, his briefs quickly followed.

Hawkeye pinned the boy's legs under his own.

Chris gasped as he felt the slipper resting on his bare bottom.

"Give me your hands" Hawkeye demanded, he knew the boy would probably kick and struggle, and he wanted to be sure he only hit the small bottom and not his hands.

Chris hesitantly obeyed and Hawkeye grabbed his wrists.

Hawkeye raised the slipper and let it hit harshly.

Thwack*

His child squeaked as he felt the sharp pain in his buttocks as the first slap connected, and cried harder. More whacks quickly followed with increasing force.

"Stop!" The boy wailed loudly as he started to struggle against his dad, but it didn't do any good, as the man kept spanking at a steady pace while he kept a strong hold on him and said.

"You don't tell me to stop, Young man! Your behavior has got you in this position, you know better than to run into a minefield!"

I'm sorry! Daddy!" Christopher's cries were cut off by more smacks.

The boy whimpered, he tried to kick his legs but his dad held them in place, Chris shook his head, tears streaming down his cheeks. "Daddy…Papa! Please stop!" He sobbed.

But his dad didn't stop, he didn't even lower his pace, giving the child no room to think about anything other than the increasing burning on his backside.

Hawkeye lifted the slipper and smacked his small target, again and again, ignoring the screams of pain or the pleas for mercy from his son.

Thwack* "You know I don't like doing this!" Hawkeye said between the whacks sternly, *Slap* "I told you what would happen if you do something so dangerous! *Whack* What's always gonna happen if you endanger your life like that!" *Slap* "I'm telling you again, it's dangerous." *Thwack* "If anything happens to you I wouldn't know what to do! *Smack* And if a good spanking is needed to prevent that I will give you one!

His small bottom quickly reddened as the slaps came down harshly.

"Ow!.. ahh!.. P-papaaaa!"

Hawkeye ignored the crying of his child, even though it pained him. He positioned the child higher over his knees, to get a better aim at his upper thighs. And gave the four last, fast hard smacks on them.

Hawkeye put the slipper down and let go of Chris's hands and legs, he started rubbing the boy on the back soothingly as the boy cried. The small bottom looked deep pink with darker imprints of the slipper, and Hawkeye knew the slipper made an impression.

His son sobbed, his hands were shaking slightly as they went to his bottom to rub his freshly spanked cheeks.

"It's over, Kiddo," Hawkeye said. He let Chris rub for a couple of seconds before he lifted the sobbing boy, and put him on his lap. He made sure there wasn't any pressure on Chris's bottom. He didn't pull his clothes back up but had to raise the boy's pajama bottom a little as Chris almost kicked them away.

The doctor was holding him securely around the middle with one arm while his other hand rubbed circles on his back soothingly.

Chris wrapped one arm around his dad's neck and with the other one rubbing his reddened flesh 'That hurt!' He said as he snuggled closer into his dad's chest.

"It's supposed to! It's punishment." Hawkeye's harsh words were in contrast with the gentle way he hugged the child.

"I'm sorry daddy," Chris said between sniffles.

Hawkeye looked up into the little face peeking out from under his chin. His face softened.

"I forgive you, kiddo." He kissed the side of his head."I love you very much. You just need to stop scaring me like that.

Chris's tears kept going as his lower lip wobbled as he tried to stifle a sob. "I'm sorry…" Chris whispered into his father's chest. "I won't do it again…"

"You better not! I will use the slipper again if I need to!" Hawkeye said, looking pointedly at his son. The boy looked very miserably at the idea, which was a good thing, Hawkeye thought, at least the slipper did its job.

"Daaad, I said I was sorry!" the boy whined.

Or so he thought, Hawkeye thought to himself as he frowned at his son before he gave the freshly spanked bottom a firm tap. It wasn't a hard one, but it still hurt as it was still tender. Chris gave a small yelp of protest before he sobbed again.

"Stop whining, young man, a little I don't mind, but you're starting to do it a lot and you shouldn't whine at all if you're already in trouble." His dad scolded.

"I'm sorry" Chris whimpered softly into Hawkeye's chest.

Hawkeye sighed and put both his arms around the crying boy in his lap holding him tight as he soothed the child.

"Shhh, shhh… it's okay kiddo. I know, it hurts, but it's over now, and hopefully, we won't have to do this again anytime soon."

He whispered, stroking the blond hair. The little boy cried a bit slower as he seemed to calm down a little. Chris buries his face further into his dad's chest and sighs.

They sat like that together, for several long minutes, Chris was almost calm again when the door opened.

Hawkeye quickly pulled Chris's briefs and PJ up, to save his son's modesty a little. The boy hissed as the fabric brushed against his tender rump.

Radar walked in to collect the plates, but Hawkeye also suspected that he wanted to see if Chris was okay, as the clerk rarely collected dirty things from their tent.

And indeed after he collected everything he quickly asked Chris if he was okay, the boy got fire red but nodded. Which seemed to be enough answer for the clerk, as he smiled at the boy. As Radar looked at Hawkeye he lost his smile and gave the man an accusing look.

After the clerk left, Hawkeye told his son to put the slipper in his trunk. Chris looked very miserable as he carried the hateful thing and with an angry frown threw the slipper in his very organized trunk, Hawkeye had to stop himself from smiling as Chris never just threw something in there.

Hawkeye put Chris to bed. The child flinched as his bottom touched the hard cot. He rolled on his stomach and sighed sadly. He sniffled pitifully and then wiped at his nose with his sleeve.

"Come on kiddo," Hawkeye murmured. "Let's get you some sleep."

He reached out and felt the boy's brow and the little forehead crease he made when he frowned, Hawkeye suppressed a chuckle at how cute the child looked. He then ran his hand through the lightly tangled blond hair on top of his head.

Chris's eyelids drooped slowly and he let out another sigh.

Hawkeye rubbed the boy's back for several minutes and watched his son fall asleep. What a hell of a day! He thought, at least everyone was safe, and BJ seemed like a nice guy.

He looked at his sleeping boy with affection.
