Hawkeye felt terrible, the court case scared his son more than he thought, two days before the trial the boy stopped talking, and now that it was over, he was still very quiet and held on to him for the whole night. He did laugh a little as the adults were celebrating and getting a bit drunk. But it was still very difficult to put his son to bed that night. Chris cried a lot and he didn't want to let go of his dad.
Chris was almost hysterical, so Hawkeye decided to hold him close and tell him some stories, till the child was deeply asleep. It didn't take as long as he thought, but that reaction and the fear in the boy's eyes were still clear in his mind.
He looked at his sleeping child, Chris looked adorable like this, you would never know he was so scared and nervous if you saw him sleeping like this. He just looked very peaceful.
Hawkeye sighed, he needed to see Chris happy again, he didn't want his son thinking back at his childhood and only remembering anxiety and sadness. He sat there for a couple of minutes just thinking, he heard BJ slightly snore in the background.
'What did Chris like to do? He likes to do puzzles and riddles, reading, writing, his toys, and of course his comic books and superheroes.' Slowly an idea started to form, and a grin broke free, as Hawkeye got up. For this plan to work, he needed to wake up Radar!
The next morning Chris woke up slowly, stretching on his bed. He turned over, facing his still sleeping dad. He felt very relieved seeing the man close, he still woke up scared most of the time. And that court of yesterday still scared him, what if they changed their mind? It felt like they wanted to kill his dad right in front of him, and it kinda hit close to home.
He shook his sad feelings away and tried to be positive. Seeing his dad did make him feel a lot better, things were getting back to normal.
He rubbed his eyes, trying to remove sleep from them before he got out of bed. He said good morning to Wally, who apparently fell on the floor during the night. He put the bunny safely back on his pillow before he left to go to the latrine.
When he came back, he heard his dad stir and groan softly, meaning the man would be waking up soon.
The boy got a huge smile as he jumped at the change to get his dad's coffee. He loved helping and making sure the people he cared about were happy. That's what you do for friends and family!
The small boy collected his dad's cup and looked over to a sleeping BJ and collected his cup as well. He cared a lot about his friend too.
Chris walked barefoot over the compound to the mess hall, he wore a red pajama with a red car at the front, it wasn't his favorite pair, as he didn't care about cars at all, but Kellye gave him this one, and he liked her, so he liked wearing them.
Chris loved the early mornings of the 4077th, it was peaceful most of the time, and he greeted the few people he passed. He was a bit proud of himself that he wasn't afraid to greet them as he didn't know them very well. But it was only polite to do so, and they greeted him back with a smile. He started to feel better, things were still the same, and people were still okay. He even started to feel giddy.
He came back inside the Swamp and saw his dad sitting up, his eyes were sleepy and his hair was messed up. The little boy giggled at the sight and handed over the man's drink.
Hawkeye was barely awake as he heard the small giggle he would recognize everywhere. He looked at his kid and got a cup of coffee handed to him.
"How do you keep doing that?" Hawkeye said sleepy, as he gave Chris an affectionate hug.
"Thanks, kiddo!" He took a sip "Oh, Radar asked for your help for this morning."
The boy walked over to BJ and put his cup next to his cot before he turned around and looked at his dad with a huge smile and he asked in his slightly squeaky voice "Really? With what?"
Hawkeye gave him a goofy grin as he said.
"How should I know? I maybe look like I know everything. But I'm just doing whatever. I'm actually not even a doctor. "
Chris giggled as he walked over to his dad. He nudged his dad a little and whined "Paappaa! What did Radar say!"
Hawkeye laughed as he tried to keep his coffee steady.
"He just said he needed your help! "
"When? "
"Before breakfast."
Chris looked shocked as his mouth fell open.
"It's before breakfast now!"
"Brilliant," BJ added sleepily as he sat up, he saw his cup and thanked the boy with a happy smile.
"Didn't I tell you he's a genius!" Hawkeye replied laughing before he got nudged again by an impatient child.
"Dad! Can I go now?"
"Yes, go!" Hawkeye said laughing as he pushed Chris gently. The young boy grinned and ran to the door.
"Chris, wait!" Hawkeye tried before the child could reach the door.
"You forget to get dressed, you're still wearing your jammies. "
Chris giggled as he ran to his trunk to change.
BJ burst into laughter as Chris almost fell on his face, trying to get into his pants as fast as possible. Next Chris was trying to open the door before he even had his shoes on, making both the doctors laugh. They were still laughing as the door slammed close behind the child.
"Well let the games begin," Hawkeye said as he got out of bed. He explained to his friend what he planned for his kid today, and BJ happily agreed to help.
Chris ran towards the clerk's office, he loved helping Radar! They already did the mail yesterday so he didn't know how he could help today, and he was curious about what Radar was doing.
The boy entered the building and heard the hushed voices of Radar and Colonel Potter, he walked towards the door and was able to hear them quite clearly when they were speaking to each other.
"No, it should look more like this." Radar said.
"Well if you know it that well, why don't you do it? " Potter's voice said.
The boy pushed the door open slowly and stepped into the room before stopping abruptly at what he saw.
He gasped as his mouth fell open, Radar was wearing a blue t-shirt with a big yellow diamond shape with a big red S painted on the front of it. He even wore a matching red cape.
"Ohh, Pig feathers!" Colonel Potter said as he looked up from painting another smaller blue shirt and saw the young boy.
"What?!" Radar said, he only seem to have eyes for the big red S that the colonel was painting. "Did you mess it up? Please don't tell me it messed up! I got the picture right here. " the clerk said, pointing at his comic book cover.
"Radar, I'm not messing it up, weren't you the one watching the door, in case a happy ankle biter would burst through."
"Huh?!" The clerk said as he looked up and saw Chris.
The boy rushed to the clerk's side with excitement. "Radar! You're Superman! That's so rad!" He said. His eyes shone brightly as he looked up at his friend in awe.
"Ohh, Chris!? I'm sorry, I wanted it to be a surprise." Radar said looking a bit disappointed.
"I'm surprised!" Chris quickly added he didn't want his friend to be upset and this was the best thing ever!
"You even got a cape!" He was so excited he bounced a little up and down, as he had the biggest grin.
Potter finished the red S with a flourish. "So, finished, Chris what do you think of your superman costume." He held out the small blue shirt and a red cape to match.
"Mine?"
"Of course yours! I can't do this alone, I need you to help the people!"
Radar said with a wide smile.
There was no way, he would dress up as superman to play alone. He felt crazy for doing this but Hawkeye could be very convincing. He and Hawkeye planned a game for this morning with superhero activity, of course, he still needed to work, but Hawkeye promised him they should be done with the game before noon.
"Really! Ja! I want to help! Mieters! Can I put it on? Please!" Chris said as he bounced on his toes in excitement.
"Hold your horses, the paint ain't even dry yet," Potter said as he put the shirt down. "Just about a minute"
"But you needed my help to play superman with you?" Chris asked Radar, he didn't mind of course but it was a bit odd.
"Yeah, your dad planned a whole game, but only till noon or so, as I still need to do my work," Radar said as he shrugged with a smile.
"This is the best thing ever! " Chris replied happily "So what kind of things are we doing?"
"I know there must be people in need of two superheroes" Radar replied with a big smile.
Chris had to wait a whole two minutes before he could wear his shirt, and Potter had some difficulties getting the child to stand still as he put the cape on. Once everything was ready, they headed off to the compound.
The first thing Chris saw when he stepped outside was a little note on the ground right in front of him. That definitely wasn't there when he came in. He took the note with curiosity and read.
—
This is your number 1 enemy, your rival! Captain Operate! I have captured your friends and you will never be able to save them!
Unless you solve the riddles and collect the clues maybe then you be able to save your friends. But you have to be a real superhero to defeat me!
First riddle.
I have married many women but I am not married who am I?
The answer will guide you to the next clue.
Ps: Chris, this is a game, nobody is getting hurt, stay on this unit, don't worry about schoolwork and I do expect you to eat breakfast and lunch with me. Have fun. Love, dad.
—
"Radar! Look it's a riddle! This is so neat! I wonder who was kidnapped though" Chris said enthusiastically. His dad was the best dad ever!
"We could really do this! I bet we make a great team." And no schoolwork, he was finished with it anyway, but it was still nice to get free from work.
"You bet!" Radar said, he felt a bit silly wearing a superman shirt and cape but this was rather entertaining. And seeing a happy Chris made it worth it.
Chris bounced around as tried to find the answer, it didn't take long. He gasped as it just clicked into his mind, a Priest. And Chris knew that Francis couldn't marry if he wanted to, and priests did marry people to each other. He told Radar the answer and the clerk seemed very impressed by him being so smart.
Chris got a huge grin, he felt great that Radar thought he was smart! This was the best day ever!
Radar walked and Chris ran towards Francis's tent and knocked, the man opened the door and got a bright smile as he saw the two supermans.
"You two could not have arrived at a better time, I'm in real need of a hero right now. " The priest said, he tried to look upset but his eyes gave him away.
Radar rolled his eyes, the priest was trying to hide his amusement and wasn't doing a great job of it.
"Why? What's wrong?" Chris asked.
The child seemed sincerely worried and it was so sweet, that Francis couldn't control his smile coming through.
"Well, after I woke up this morning I noticed all my collars were missing, I only have this one left." The priest said, pointing at the white collar around his neck.
Chris gasped, "Were they stolen?"
"I wouldn't know about that," Francis said with a delighted smile" But I did see a suspicious person sneaking around my tent earlier"
"Radar! We should look for clues, that's what superman would do! " Chris said as he tugged gently on Radar's sleeve. "Don't worry Francis, we will find them," he said as he started looking around the man's tent and found a note on the inside of the door.
"Yes! I found another note" He took it and read while Radar looked over his shoulder.
—
You will never find them! Muhuahuahahahaha.
Unless you solve this next riddle.
I am so strong I can transfer a lot of people, but without my four-round sidekicks, I'm nothing. What am I?
Give up now, you can't defeat me!
Your evil enemy, Captain Operate.
—
Chris tugged Radar's cape gently but excited as he started guessing, it took a couple of tries, but together they worked it out. It was a car, or in this case probably a jeep.
Francis chuckled as the two left to play, he just hoped Hawkeye wouldn't ruin his collars, he normally wouldn't approve of playing with religious things but it was very hard to say no to the doctor if he got his mind set on something. And it was for a very good cause, he was glad Chris was happy.
They followed in that direction and got startled as Rizzo stepped around the corner, the man looked like he had just woken up and acted shocked. He threw his hands up and excessively said.
"The lord must've listened to my prayer, as here are two fine heroes, ready to save my day! " He put his arm around the nervous and slightly uncomfortable clerk. His big cigar in his mouth made Radar cough a little.
"Boy, am I glad to stumble upon you guys! " He sighed very dramatically as he leaned heavily on the smaller man. "I was real surprised this morning when I found a jeep missing. Who would steal a jeep just to make me look bad? It stood right here!" the man pointed to the empty spot in front of them. "The colonel is going to be matter than a wet hen if he finds out. You got to save me! " He sighed again.
"Laying it on a bit thick there" Radar mumbled as he tried to wave away the smoke.
Rizzo grinned at the slight discomfort of the other man and whispered.
"I've been waiting here for over an hour, give a guy some credit. "
Chris started explaining his theories about the collar thief trying to get away in the jeep.
"That can't be!" Rizzo said. "That stolen jeep ain't got no wheels, I was getting around to fixing it, but you know, stuff happened. "
"How do you steal a jeep without wheels?" Radar asked stunned, Hawkeye was taking this game pretty far. This was a surprise, as he didn't know the riddles or the game, as Hawkeye planned to do that with BJ. Radar just helped to fix the outfits and offered his help with solving the riddles.
"Beats me! But I saw a real suspicious like person sneaking around, a real weirdo." Rizzo said he took a drag of his cigar. "Ohh, and I found this note." The man handed a crumbled-up paper note to the child.
Chris took the dirty oil-stained paper, with a slightly horrified expression. He had never seen such paper conditions and it made him a bit sad.
He uncrumpled the paper and read out loud, trying to read through the smudges.
—
Wonder how I did this? I'm just that good at being evil. And you have seen nothing yet! Try to find me with this next riddle.
I help you eat food, but I am not your hand. You can eat everything using me. You can use me to mix food as well. Who am I?
With evil regards your enemy, Captain Operate.
—
Chris giggled, his dad was so silly at times. This was an easy one, and he told Radar proudly that he know the answer, it was a spoon.
Radar laughed at the proud happy child and said.
"And just in time for breakfast." Solving riddles was making him hungry.
They entered the mess hall, and some people snickered at Radar's outfit, but he ignored them, he knows he looks silly, but secretly he was having a lot of fun with this, and as he looked at the happy chatting child next to him, he felt happy. This was totally worth it.
They took their trays and they neared Igor, they noticed him having trouble serving the food. Radar's mouth fell open as he saw Igor serve the food using bowls instead of normal spoons.
"What are you doing!" The clerk asked as he looked in shock as the man shoved creamed eggs on his tray.
The man didn't look happy at all as he replied.
"I'm doing the best I can! Someone stole all my serving spoons, it's not my fault! Do you know how difficult it is to serve food this way? I splashed the creamed eggs all over Major Burns. If you want to scream at me some more, you can stand in line! "
"Ohh no, that's okay. I'm good." Radar said nervously. and they quickly went to sit next to Hawkeye and BJ.
"Heya kiddo, having fun?" Hawkeye said to Chris who sat across from his dad with a big grin. "Yeah, this is so much fun! Thank you!" He started excitedly telling them this was the best game ever and about the clues they already found.
"You sure you got enough food over there," BJ asked the clerk, watching the man starting to eat his mountain of food.
"I could always go back and get some more " Radar said with his mouth full of egg. The clerk turned towards Hawkeye.
"Did you steal Igor's spoons? That's just mean. " Radar said.
"I know nothing!" Hawkeye said. "Except that it was hilarious to see a very angry cream-soaked Frank trying to get an explanation out of Igor."
"Dad, aren't you Captain Operate?" Chris asked. BJ chuckled.
"Who is Captain Operate? Never heard of him. Don't you as real heroes have to find out who your enemy is?" Hawkeye said trying to be very serious but his humor-filled eyes gave him away.
"Then anyone could be Captain Operate?" Chris asked curiously.
"Anyone and everyone. But I don't know anything." Hawkeye said as he ruffled his son's hair, making the child giggle.
Hawkeye and BJ said their goodbyes, got up, and walked towards the door.
"Muhuahuahaha" A deep slow evil laugh was heard before the door closed behind them. Chris gasped, he didn't hear if it was his dad or BJ's voice. He nudged Radar excitedly, making the clerk spill his food.
"Did you hear that evil laugh Radar?" Chris said as he kept nudging his friend. "Do you think it was my dad or BJ? "
"Yes I heard it, and I think it was BJ. But please stop pushing me, I'm trying to eat." The clerk said as he tried to hold his fork steady.
Chris stopped and quickly apologized. He didn't want his friend to be angry with him. And BJ could be Captain Operate, it made sense.
After eating they went to the kitchen, to investigate the stolen spoons.
They found out that the cook was not a happy man, and the kitchen was one big mess. All the big spoons were gone, and the poor cook had to improvise a lot.
He didn't even want to talk as he handed Radar the note, with almost a hateful expression. Radar apologized, and said he didn't know, it wasn't his fault, he was just there to help solve the riddles. The cook still didn't say a word and went back to prepare his soup holding a big knife. He gave Radar a mean look as slowly stirred the soup with it.
The clerk quickly left with Chris slightly hiding behind the man. He wasn't afraid of the cook, but the man looked very angry at the moment.
"Boy! He really wasn't happy. You're dad's nuts!" Radar said once they were outside. He opened the note, and Chris nodded and looked over the man's arm at the riddle, he felt a bit bad about his dad doing this, but he was having too much fun to worry about it.
—
Muhuahuahaha haha Captain Operate here.
So, you think you can stop me? Don't forget I already got your friend. And if you fail to give me what I want, I will kill them.
If you want to know my demands, you will have to find me first. Solve this riddle to find out who is missing.
I have a base but I'm not a baseball field.
I have sheets but I'm not a book.
I'm used every night but I'm not a light.
I have a room named after me but I'm not a bath.
What am I?
—
"It's a bed!" Radar said excitedly forgetting for a second that he was supposed to let Chris solve the riddles. But he was getting into this game.
"Yeah, you're right Radar! It must be! But which one? " Chris asked, 'boy, Radar was smart!'
They decided on going to the swamp first, Chris ran over there, he loved the sound his cape made, it was almost like he was really flying. He felt a bit silly stretching his arm like he was, but he couldn't resist trying it at least a couple of times.
Chris waited for Radar before he opened the door. they stepped inside but it just looked the same as always, nothing seemed wrong or out of place. They looked around for a bit before Chris noticed it.
He gasped, Wally was gone! Instead, there was a little note on his pillow.
"Ohh no, I don't like where this is going." Radar muttered.
They opened the note and read.
—
Are you starting to see how serious I am? And yes, I got the other one too! I'm looking at them now, and they look very frightened.
Now for my demand, I want the biggest amount of pudding, enough to last me a lifetime. And not just pudding, I need chocolate pudding.
I got both your friends, and they will never see daylight again unless you can figure out this riddle and save them just in time before I bring them to their doom.
I'm the place you go to when the need is highest.
I have a bowl but I don't hold cereal.
I have a tank but I'm not in the military.
I can be sat on but I'm not a bench.
I get flushed but I don't have a red face.
What am I?
And you guys better hurry up!
—
"Oh no, they didn't!" Radar said as he looked at the boy with a shocked expression. "I have to check! "He said before he quickly left the Swamp, Chris ran right behind him. This time Chris wasn't the only one running. Their capes waving behind them in the wind.
Radar rushed into the clerk's office towards his bed and almost threw his pillow to the other side of the room, but only found an empty spot underneath it.
Radar gasped and put his hands on his head. "Ohh no, that wasn't part of the deal! That's not what we agreed. " He started to pace around a bit frantic.
"Radar, calm down." Chris tried as he walked behind the man, trying to tug on Radar's sleeve, but the clerk moved too fast. Chris felt very bad about this, but he knew his dad wouldn't hurt the stuffed animals.
"We just need to find them and stop Captain Operate, we can do it, Radar. We are the best team together." He had managed to grab his friend and Radar stopped pacing.
"Dad wouldn't hurt them for real, it's just a game, he even said so in his first note."
Radar seemed to think about it for a second before he nodded and said. "You're probably right, we should hurry and go figure out the next riddle." He got the note out of his pocket and read it again, he was not happy about this and he wanted to find his bear as quickly as possible.
Chris tried coming up with the answer, but he just didn't get it. Thankfully his friend is really smart also and he told that the answer is a toilet.
Chris felt a bit silly for not knowing, but Radar explained those are different than latrines. Chris wasn't used to them, he knew toilets, but he only remember using them once or twice.
"So we need to go to the latrines? Or do we need to find a toilet?" The child asked.
"They just started digging the new latrines." Radar said before his eyes got wide. He looked a bit panicked as he said in a nervous voice.
"They wouldn't bury them, right? "
Chris's eyes got big and he gulped, he didn't know, it seemed like something his dad would do.
Without a second thought they raced towards the latrine digging spot, the wind blew against their faces, and their capes waved behind them. Chris loved the sound of his cape in the wind, it made him feel like a real superhero, saving his and Radar's best friends. And they needed to hurry.
They arrived at the spot, and Radar stopped abruptly, making Chris bump into him. After the boy steadied himself by holding on to Radar, he looked at where the clerk was looking and his mouth fell open.
There was a hole in the ground, the shallow start of where the latrines were being built. But someone made a low long slope down the hole with at the top a wheelless jeep facing it, just like it could glide down if it got pushed.
Nobody was there but at a short pace in front of the jeep where two big ladles were stuck upright in the dirt.
Chris heard Radar gasp as he noticed his bear was bound with a priest collar on one of them, while Wally was held tight on the other, also with a white collar.
"Criminy! That takes the cake! I didn't agree with this. GUYS that's not funny!" Radar said in an almost panicky way.
"Muhuahuahaha" a loud evil laugh rang out through the camp. Chris gasped and hide a little behind the clerk, he knew he was supposed to be a superhero right now but it was still a bit scary as he didn't recognize the voice.
At that moment Colonel Potter walked past, "Radar, how long is this game going to take? You still got work to do. Last time I checked this was still a mash unit."
"But sir!" The clerk waved with his hand wildly to the spoon-bound stuffed animals.
Potter took in the scene and chuckled while he shook his head " Boy, that man's a loony. I knew there was gonna be trouble, I should've never agreed to this. Do you know how angry the cook is? Not to mention Major Burns. "
"Can't we just go get them now?" Chris asked the colonel while he was still hiding a bit behind his friend, "They are just bound to big spoons?"
"Muhuahuahaha" a loud laugh rang out once again, but this time a man jumped out from behind the jeep. He was dressed in normal doctors' scrubs but he had his face mask over his eyes, with two holes cut out of them and a big O painted on his forehead.
Chris jumped up startled but calmed down rather quickly as he recognized the man.
"First I want my chocolate pudding, you won't like it if I let this jeep roll over your little furry friends" The man, who was clearly BJ dressed up. BJ stood in a confident evil mastermind stance.
The compound was silent for a second before the three burst into laughter.
"Boy! that's the silliest outfit I've ever seen." The Colonel managed between his snickering. "And you can't just push a wheelless jeep to glide over sand. It just doesn't work that way."
"Yes, it will work that way! "Another loud deep voice rang out once again, this time Hawkeye jumped from behind the jeep.
"Because it is I! " He stood tall and proud wearing the same outfit as BJ, including the big O painted on his head "Captain Operate" He gave the Colonel a wide smile as he said, "I can operate on anything"
"Wait, are you both Captain Operate?" Chris managed to get out between his laughing and giggling. His dad and BJ looked ridiculous like this but he loved that they both wanted to play with them.
"Of course, two supermans deserve two enemies," BJ added.
"Makes sense," Chris said as he looked at his hero partner, Radar was still giggling at the two doctors. "How did you steal a jeep?"
"We didn't, we just hid it under a large veil and pretended it was gone, had to bribe Rizzo though" Hawkeye explained.
"Can I get my bear back? He looks uncomfortable." Radar tried.
"Ohh no, my short four-eyed friend, chocolate pudding first!" BJ said.
"Hey don't make fun of me, where are we going to get pudding in a middle of a war?" The clerk said.
"Beats me, but if you want to save your friends, you better hurry," BJ said as he walked to the back of the jeep and pretended to push.
Chris gasped "No! Radar we have to stop them!"
Potter chuckled before he turned serious and said to Radar "Half an hour tops, I need those daily reports."
The clerk replied with a "Yes sir," so the Colonel turned towards Hawkeye. "And YOU! Where are all the ladles and spoons? And why steal all of them if you only need two!"
"How did you think, we were going to eat all that pudding?" Hawkeye told the man, dead serious.
Making Radar and Chris burst into laughter again. That was just plain silly.
"You better bring them back, completely cleaned up." The Colonel said sternly but couldn't help his chuckling.
"Scout honor!" Hawkeye said.
The moment Potter left BJ let out an evil laugh as he said. "Time's almost up!"
Chris looked at Radar with a big grin "Let's get them!"
"What? You want me to fight them?" Radar said but Chris was already gone, he ran towards his dad, who stood between him and his plushy friend. "You're not gonna hurt my friend!" Chris told Captain Operate.
"Ohh yeah, you think you can stop me?" His father's voice was playful but he stood ready for a fight.
"I know I can!" Chris took a stance, he thought for a second before he decided to tackle his dad head-on. He ran and grabbed the man around his waist and tried to push him over. "You're weak!" He almost shouted as he managed to get his dad to the ground.
"And I am way stronger!"
Hawkeye just laughed as he let himself get thrown down and they dropped on the dirt floor, wrestling and rolling around.
Hawkeye laughed as he looked at his happy child. He had never seen so much happiness and joy in one person, it warmed his heart. This was what he wanted for his kid, Chris looked and sounded like the happiest kid in Korea.
Radar looked a bit unsure at BJ who went to stand in between the clerk and the stuffed animals. The doctor stood tall and crossed his arms. BJ smiled, "Wanna fight me? "
"No of course not, I just want my bear back, we didn't agree to this." Radar said.
"Hehe, then show me the pudding, or fight me, I think I could take you," BJ said with a slightly smug smile.
Giggling and laughter sounded in the background, Radar looked and saw Hawkeye get up while holding his struggling child.
"Let me go!" Chris giggled as Hawkeye lifted him in the air, pretending to throw him away.
BJ took a menacing step toward Radar making the clerk's attention snap back to the threat right in front of him.
"Wait!" He said, making BJ stop in his track."I hear something" He listened closely, and his mood dropped. It faintly sounded like choppers.
"Oh no, please tell me you just trying to distract me from your bear," BJ said with a disappointed expression.
Radar shook his head sadly, before he yelled, "CHOPPERS!" He pulled his cape loose, dropped it on the ground, and ran towards the clerk's office to announce it to the whole unit.
Chris and Hawkeye stopped what they were doing, Hawkeye had his kid under his arm as he saw the clerk run away.
He groaned and put Chris down. BJ already had his mask off and was on his way to start triage.
"Sorry kiddo," He said as he pulled off his mask, the wounded had to come first.
Chris nodded as his dad kissed his forehead before he left and ran towards the choppers.
Chris sighed as he looked around, people were running around everywhere, and no one is paying attention to him, it always was so sudden, he understood of course, but that didn't make him feel better.
He dusted the dirt off his clothes before he went to collect the stuffed animals, he made sure Francis's collars stayed clean and the stuffed animals were safe again. He carried them in his arms as he walked towards the clerk's office.
First, he put Radar's bear back in the clerk's bed, he even dusted and cleaned him a little and tugged him in. He felt sad about the game ending so soon, he almost hated it.
After that, he walked back to the Swamp and laid down on his bed. The Swamp felt very empty right now.
He looked at Wally and a small smile broke through, he shouldn't feel sad, he had a lot of fun this morning being a superhero.
Now it was time for the adults to save and help people. Real people instead of stuffed animals.
