Summary/Disclaimer: Time for another chapter of the Code of Honor. Enjoy the 2500-word chapter. I don't own Star Wars, Disney, and Lucas Arts.
(Republic Arquitens class cruiser, 19BBY)
The pair of Clones with both Ahsoka and Tracyn while they lazed around the command console. They had been ready for this mission, all too ready for this type of work at the end of the day. It'd need to be handled sooner or later.
The hologram showed the planet below. A sphere of water and sky that had been considered unimportant to the war effort, no supplies to be harvested, not stationed near any major hyperspace lanes.
The perfect place to house people out of the way like the senator. It had been so far out of the way that Tracyn probably expected the Separatists not to know what was coming. He didn't see any orbital defenses, but he didn't rule them out at the time.
"This is the target planet: Vorix." Tracyn heard from Vaughn as the Clone officer stepped up to the table. "The senator is held in this base, located near the equator and defended by a full battalion of battle droids, AA cannons, and Vulture Droids. We're be landing on the rear landing pad while General Skywalker leads an ariel attack on the base and General Gest leads a land attack. The base is ALSO reported to be run by one of Count Dooku's officers. A force user." Vaughn put in as the two Jedi looked down at the table.
They had been interesting when it came down to it. the base was defended by a woman who worked directly for the count, neither seemed excited about the idea of fighting a real battle. All of them wanted to battle and all of them were eager to cut their teeth on the field of battle.
Well, not at least against a Jedi Killer. Ahsoka still sported a smile that had been a lot more interested in what they'd be up against them. It had been a lot of work for the Togruta Jedi to handle this.
Still? Neither did he. He didn't want to back down when it came to these missions. There was only so much that could be done to prepare for the plan. It'd be fun when it came down to it.
"And I and Commander Tano will extract the councilor from the prison blocks. Both Lieutenant Checkmate and Vaughn will lead the evacuation team with us." Tracyn said while he tapped on the console before looking at the image. "From there? We take them to the cargo landing pad. It's less defended and the last place they'd expect a gunship to come and extract us from the base. We're bringing them back to the Resolute so General Skywalker can return him Coruscant." Tracyn stated before he tilted his head.
"Boys? Get to the gunship, we're let commander Tano talk out the final details." Vaughn said as he motioned for his men to leave. "We got clankers to scrap, Shinies!" Vaughn yelled before he saluted both Ahsoka and Tracyn.
Checkmate looked at his friend and commander. The clone had a small head of black hair and a weary look that belayed the amusement and experience the soldier had carried. He knew Gest was a younger commander than most.
Still? There was a lot more to be done at the moment and a lot that had to be done sooner or later. They had to hit the enemy, get in, snatch the target… It wasn't to be easy, nor would it be as simple as it appeared.
Ahsoka and Tracyn both shared looks at one another as they sighed, curious as to what was to come on their adventure. The mission seemed very simple at the time.
But all missions were that way and they weren't to get involved in the insanity that was this mission and its ideals. It was something they had come far too close to simply giving up on, the sooner they managed to do this? The easier their consciences would rest.
"Are there any questions before we go over the rest of the plan?" Tracyn questioned with a raised eyebrow.
"Yeah, is there any way we can get to the clanker blasting, commander?" One of the clones asked which made chuckles and smirks break out across the room.
"Ah, you guys are some of the best soldiers," Tracyn said with a smirk. "Alright, any jokes or real questions?" Tracyn asked with a raised eyebrow as he glanced over the soldiers.
"Are there any chances we run into heavy resistance? Not every clanker is going to fall for the frontal assault, Commander." Another clone asks before Tracyn nods. "Also? Do we have a backup plan if the first doesn't work so well?" The clone questioned to which Ahsoka and Tracyn shared a look.
It had made the Togruta and Human share a look as they cleared their throats. They nodded before turning back towards the hologram table. This was going to be fun one way or another. It had to end one way or another either way. Still? They had to end this mission on a possible high note.
Tracyn was the one to speak up first and break the silence, Ahsoka merely turned back towards the Clones.
"We know there's a Separatist shuttle on the landing pad. We're going after that if given the chance and let the ship know that we're flying an enemy warship." Tracyn stated before he hummed to himself.
"And yes. We do expect to run into some big droids to break, Ridge." Ahsoka added with a smile. "We know one of the Separatist inner circles is there to try and interrogate the senator for their information. It is possible they won't be fooled by the attack and if that happens? I and Tracyn will handle them, you focus on bringing the senator back." Ahsoka said while she crossed her arms across her chest.
Tracyn rubbed at his chin while he sighed to himself. he had been interested in this; he had been interested as of the second. It would be a lot more curious if they could down to it.
"If that's all? We need to get back to work." Tracyn said before he shut down the table. "Everyone reports to the gunship and we get going. Before then? Anyone who needs extra equipment is to head to the armory, we're going to be down there a while and there will be a lot of droids to fight." Tracyn stated before he rubbed at his chin.
The clone troopers nodded and left both Checkmate and Vaughn on the floor with their commanders. This was going to be a confusing mission. Tracyn sighed and leaned over the table as he questioned what to do next. The path ahead was going to be long and more interesting than he expected. This had to end sooner or later.
"Ok, big planning is over, time to go smash some droids into scrap," Tracyn stated before he crossed his arms across his chest. "Check? Why don't you ever do these meetings? I'm not nervous about them. I always feel like I'm going to scream if I don't find out a better answer to all of this." Tracyn stated before he hummed.
Checkmate nodded and stepped up towards the Jedi. It was clear to him that the Padawans were trying to wing it. He wasn't mad at that, they were young for the field of war, and they weren't as sharpened on the teeth of battle as Clones were.
"We aren't going to win if they don't respect the commander, sir." Checkmate stated before he hummed to himself. "We both know they need to see you. They need to know we can win." Checkmate added before he hummed to himself before he sighed to himself before he hummed to himself.
This was going to need to be flawless when it came down to it. there was all of it as of the second. He hummed before he sighed as of the second while he rubbed at his chin before he blinked at his eyes. He could almost feel the anticipation in the air as of the second before he seemed to question what was about to happen next on the battlefield when it came down to it.
He was going to be interested as of the time start to point out as of the second before, he sighed to himself before he cracked his knuckles and looked around.
It had made him curious as of the moment. This was certainly going to be something for the history books, something that had to be placed in the archives when it came down to it. they couldn't back down, nor could they wish to backpedal and question what was to come next. Ahsoka rubbed at the edge of her nose before she slowly started to tug him into the next room before he hummed as of the time.
"We need to go," Ahsoka stated before she hummed before she started to drag him towards the hanger.
Tracyn nodded before he fell into step. It had to end here. This couldn't be said enough that there was more time to handle this, they had to be prepared for the next topic.
"What do we do if one of Dooku's warriors is there? We both know the senator is going to have someone major guarding them. I doubt it's not General Grievous or Ventress." Tracyn stated before he sighed. "As happy as they are? I'm freaking out before this came down to it." Tracyn added before he hummed to himself.
"I know, but we both know that this isn't going to be easy. We need to hit them once more. Need to be willing to do what it takes." Ahsoka responded before she sighed. "Sides, if they this terrified? Then they're just willing to admit that they're scared and not winning this as much as they seem to think they are." Ahsoka stated as she hummed to herself.
It had made him question what was going on either way. There was more to this. There was more that had to be done, more that had to be put on the line and this wasn't going to help either way. This mission would hurt more than anything. It was painful, it'd be harmful to their army… And it was something that had to be done.
(2 minutes later)
The LAAT was launched from the hanger bay with some interest in its crew. Every single clone aboard readied their weapons, staring out the blast shields as the two Jedi started to think of what to do next when they got onto their plans. This had to end sooner or later.
"General Skywalker is giving them all he has down there, isn't he?" One of the clones questioned before he looked around.
"It's what General Skywalker does best, boys," Vaughn said as an explosion seemed to light the air itself aflame.
There was the roar of engines as Vulture Droids took to the skies. Anakin's Delta-7B starfighter raced past them. Ahsoka could only roll her eyes at her master's eagerness to engage the enemy as they had so easily done before.
This had to end sometime soon. It was going to be fun one way or another for the Jedi Knight to let him have his fun. This was going to be something that was remembered for all the wrong reasons and perhaps some of the right ones as well.
Then again? She couldn't exactly fault her master for enjoying this to the degree he was. she'd probably be right at home engaging Vulture Droids and sending them crashing down to the ground in plumes of fire when it came down to it.
She had been eager to engage some of the droid's forces herself when it came down to it. This would be something for the droid army.
There was a lot more as of the second when it came down to it. There was more to do, more to see and question at the end of the moment. This had been something nice and peaceful… And even he was starting to tire of it.
They had a lot more to handle as of the time being. They had to get down there and handle the mission. He and Ahsoka moved with purpose… Or at least attempted two as the pair of padawans had yet to question what to say and do next. This had been something nice and peaceful before now. He almost wondered if they had done something bad to get to this point.
"Something tells me we might run into a few problems when all of this was said and done," Tracyn stated before glancing over at his friend. "Isn't exactly like we've done a lot to throw the droids off the scent at the end of the day," Tracyn added which wasn't untrue.
The droids might have been unaware of their real damn plan, but he knew better than to expect this to work. They weren't as stupid as the people who had been working for them at the end of the day. The Droids would buy this if only a little, the people who had been in charge of them? No, they'd only be fooled for a little bit if anything else.
(Vorix droid base)
Ventress looked at the subject whom her droids had captured… The senator was a lot more powerful in will than she expected… But she knew he'd break sooner or later. It wasn't as if he had much reason to hope. They had swiftly dealt with his escort and that meant the Jedi coming to get them could be screwed if they attempted to come to their rescue.
Still? if there was a lot more to question what to do next. This was a lot more as of the second. This had to be done when it came down to it. She had something to do before all of this was done.
There was a single transmission that swept across the base. She laid herself low as it seemed that whatever was expected of her came from her own master. She bowed as well as she could have before her master said something. She had to be willing to handle this properly, even if she had to do something drastic.
Still? it wasn't as if she hadn't a reason to be a little proud. This had been a lot to handle.
