Hikaru's actions had surprised even her.
It wasn't like her to do what she'd done today; making up a half-crazed plan that only got crazier as it progressed. That was more along the lines of Jun or Ryuuta-- occasionally Shiro. But she had to do something. Gear was slowly killing that village, and she would not allow them to take another innocent life. It had been risky: letting herself get caught, changing into Pink Five at just the right moment, everything hinging on the hope that Jun would catch on and know what to do next. Lucky for her, it had also worked.
"Hey! Hey, Hikaru!" Shingo waved as she ran to her, the other three not far behind. She looked down at the waves sloshing near her feet. It had been necessary, but she couldn't help but feel guilty about what she'd put all of them through. Her one comfort was that she knew they wouldn't be angry. They were the sort to rib her for making them worry and leave it at that--
"I was so worried!" Hikaru found herself on the receiving of an almost painfully tight hug from Yabuki Jun.
She patted Jun's back gently, not sure of what to do. Jun was by no means cold, but she was also by no means the type to run up to someone and hug them, voice cracking as she confessed her worries. Just the idea was oxymoronic.
But it was happening.
She decided she needed to say something. "What's wrong, Jun?"
"What do you think what's wrong! I nearly lost you today!" Jun tightened her grip. Hikaru hoped she didn't see her flinch. "Next time warn me before you decide it's crazy stunt pulling time, okay?"
Hikaru smiled as she returned the hug. "Okay."
"Aw, how romantic!" Trying to bait them further, Shingo made kissy faces. Ryuuta giggled like a little kid, leaning heavily on Shingo. Even levelheaded Shiro was trying to hide a grin.
"Man, you never learn, do you!" Jun broke away and chased after Shingo, who hadn't had the sense to keep quiet, but enough to know when it was time to run. Shiro and Ryuuta demonstrated the same amount of sense.
Hikaru watched as they ran off together, any lingering thoughts of guilt and confusion gone. The people were safe. Her friends were safe. That was all that mattered.
"Guys, wait up!"
