There was a boy she grew up with. They were childhood friends, now she trusted him with more. He used to tease her. Now he would compliment her. Both were cleaning dishes after a vigorous dinner. They wanted to hurry and finish, but the plates would not grant them this request; they were porcelain, too old and too valuable, more so than them.

"How was your first lesson, Anita?" Nethan asked. "I don't want to talk about it." Typical response from a girl when nothing goes okay. This boy was smart, rather than prod her for continuous questions, he waited for her to continue.

Less than a minute later, she angrily placed a bowl in the sink not carrying if it chipped. "The lesson didn't go good. Figures I have no healing... I swear I would be able to heal all these people. I thought this was my gift. My big shot again. I barely remember those times I would play, how they all loved to hear me. What happened?" She glanced at him, he had also stopped scrubbing a dish. He checked around the room to make sure they were alone.

"It's the first day Velen will come back right?" She wagged her head "yes he will. But even he looked worried at what I did. HE DID! Hasn't he seen it all? He's so old." She turned back around and continued cleaning. If it was considered cleaning. Her mind was in another universe watching the soap bubbles explode. "I destroyed a rose."

He stopped and went closer to her. "How do you destroy a flower? It's just a plant." She explained how the plant turned black then Velen healed it then he couldn't. "Are you sure he couldn't heal it? I mean, we are talking about Velen here." She mumbled "true." He nudged her shoulder with his elbow "honestly he was probably just testing your patience. Priests love to do that."

"I think all old people like to do that."

"You can say that again."

"I can but don't."

"You know, what he's gonna do next right?"

"No, what do you think?"

"Oh come on, what do you think that man hasn't seen or heard since he last saw you."

"I don't know. I heard about him in letters and conversations, but nothing extraordinary."

"You're clueless sometimes. He is going to want to hear you play."

She dropped a plate in the sink creating a crater of soup. "Aren't those two instruments still there? When was the last time you touched them? I bet you they are covered in spiders now."

She was staring at the sink, looking at the bubbles which are an amazing trance. Then she immediately grabbed her inner thigh "SHIT!" She almost slipped on the tile racing out of the kitchen.

Nathan was left alone wondering what in the divine's name that was all about.

Late in the night, she was in her dorm, in her tub. It wasn't lavish, but she was thankful to have one. "This is so stupid." She said into the air while throwing a black under-garment onto the floor. She shared a room with another girl around her age, but she was normally gone at night, doing who knows what.

"Why do bad things always happen to me? I just want to be normal, or do some sort of good. I'm tired of doing chores and using bandages for wounds." There were indeed many of the new patients hurting themselves. It seemed in the past two weeks the bizarre plague or what most people now considered it a curse from the underworld. This new form of the plague was causing the patients to hurt themselves. Now Stormwind and all its provinces were worried if the curse would cause people to hurt others intentionally. She wasn't sure how the people would handle the unknown. An enemy could be a friend and a friend could be an enemy.

This, and the courts were already packed with people making excuses doing crimes. "I was in a trance." One would say. Or "I wasn't in my right mind when I stabbed him." It was hard for the newly appointed judge to decide weather the guilty were lying or were indeed in a trance from the plague. Stormwind was a mess, especially with the Brotherhood lurking around, and Jaina being a weak leader.

"What a mess this all has been...too long." She dived her face into her hands then submerged. Upon reaching out her hair flacked her hard in the back. She forgot how thick her hair got when wet. Then she began to think.

A thought jousted into her mind causing the water to rhythmic the discovery. Moments later she was in a nightgown with a thick cloak. Then she ventured outside her dorm on another adventure.

Normally it was forbidden to walk the grounds at night. It wasn't enforced though, nor were there any priests wandering around. All of the workers at the Stormwind Cathedral were exhausted. They worked tirelessly for nine years, since the start of the curse. The people of Stormwind and all around were becoming strange. They had forgotten the good times. However, everyone treated the priests, priestess, or any sort of healer with tremendous respect. It was even profitable for a healer to walk around the city in their robes, for the people would tithe them money right on the spot. But then, others began to mimic them. Thus ruining this wonderful opportunity for all parties.

She slithered her way to the old Cathedral she played oh so long ago. She had a small lantern just to cover her steps. She had to slouch over to obscure the light.

She slid her hand into her cloak and pulled out a key to the main door she had stolen from Matilda oh so long ago. Then she stopped turning the key. There were people inside.

"Someone there?" Came a man's deep voice from inside. Anita gasped and hid on the other side of the door almost dropping the lantern in the process. "You FOOL! Don't yell out 'who is there' it is is probably just a student," responded a woman with a deep voice. Our girl knew she should run but could not. Anita curled up into a ball, frozen as a piece of snow. Too many thoughts were racing in her mind. Out of all nights why now? Where were there people? Is it even possible to steal a tremendously large instrument? We're they delivering another instrument: again? Even after all this time?

As she sat trembling, the metal door slowly creaked open, a human eye peeped outwards. They were bright blue and reflected from the full moon.

The peeper slammed the door. "It is her!" There was a pause, even the crickets stopped. Now there was a whisper, as if there were any other sounds in the dead of the night: completely useless. "Are you sure?" "I swear! The girl has His eyes and hair! She even has…" Anita stopped shaking for one-second to hear "his nose."

"Ludicrous, let me see, I always wondered what our Mistress loved about this girl." Returned the voice of a woman who sounded like a man, or perhaps the woman was as fit as a man.

Anita heard movement towards the door. She left the burning lantern and bolted. Running as fast as humanly possible. She tripped twice on the wet grace. Once in her dorm she slammed the door waking all the students in the process.

"What is it Anita? I wondered where…" Her roommate Naomi asked while also trying to hide a boy in the corner. Then she noticed "by the divine Anita did you see something? Why were you out?"

Anita buried her hands in her face and sobbed. Embarrassed she ran to her room. "Leave Michael!" Naomi told the boy who was hiding behind a couch. "Not tonight and don't tell anyone you were here." The boy was masculine clearly, Naomi had strong tastes in boys but his mind was elsewhere "you want me to leave now but we were just…" Naomi opened the door waved him out. He sulked away having to relieve himself back at his dorm.

The cry was loud, the large rug draped across the floor couldn't even try to muffle the wailing. "Anita, I have never seen you like this." The two girls looked completely different. One had a natural tan, as if she came from the desert of Tanaris, and her hair resembled the midnight sky. Naomi had hair as bright as the sun and eyes as bright as the sea. She stretched out her hand on Anita's head carrasing it similar to a mother. She was older but less mature than Anita. Age and maturity never seem to follow one-another.

"Where did you go? I have never seen you venture out at night like this? Wait, did you see Nathan?" A mumble response came from the pillow "no". With a more gibberish continuation, possibly "leave me alone." But, Naomi continued "did a mother find you?" "No."

"Just tell me what happened, did an older man...do something?" Naomi barely finished the last part, it was hard for her to say that, but she knew Anita was strong and would tell if something did happen.

"I am here for you Anita. You can tell me now or later, or you don't have to. I am sorry for whatever happened." As Naomi stood from the bed to retire, Anita grabbed her arm and yanked her. Her eyes glowed orange "I AM NOT an orphan!"
