Padme's Master
Summary: What if Padme had been trained as a Grey Jedi?
Disclaimer: I'm not lucky enough. I'm not allowed to kill my brother, and I don't own Star Wars.
Prologue
Ruwee hurried to answer door. "I'm coming!" The door opened with a creak. Light spilled out into the cold night. He studied the being standing on his doorstep. He couldn't make out many details; the figure was wearing a heavy, hooded cloak, which hid the face. All Ruwee could tell was that this being was slightly taller than his wife. He felt a flicker of doubt at letting the being in, but his hospitality won. "Come in! It's freezing outside, this time of the year!"
"Thank you." The voice that issued from inside the hood was definitely feminine. The being pushed back her hood to reveal her face. Her long, brown hair all hung down her back, apart from two long strands that were pulled back from her forehead. For some reason, the hairstyle reminded Ruwee of a crown. Her eyes were a green-brown colour. She had a beauty mark on her right cheek. She looked her eighteen, twenty at most.
"Would you like me to take your coat?" Ruwee asked.
"Thank you," said the woman again.
Ruwee led the woman into the lounge room, where his wife, Jobal, and their two daughters, Sola and Padme, were waiting. They were sitting on mattresses, propped against boxes, because they were moving to Theed the next day.
The woman spoke. "My name is Jessica Jokonin. I would like to train your daughter, Padme."
"What?" Jobal looked alarmed. "What do you mean?"
Jessica smiled. "You needn't be alarmed, Mrs. Naberrie." She drew, seemingly from thin air, a metal cylinder. Ruwee recognised it.
"That's a lightsabre! You're a Jedi!"
"Not quite. I'm what is known as a 'Grey Jedi'. I don't agree with the all the teachings of the Jedi Council. I do all the things a Jedi would, with a few notable exceptions."
"And you want to train –"
"Your daughter, Padme. I have foreseen that she will play a vital role in the future of the galaxy. I feel it is important that she have training to cope with it."
"No," said Jobal, quietly. "She's only two. I know that Jedi take children away from their families. She's too young." To her surprise, Jessica laughed.
"Yes, Jedi take children away from their families. I have a different idea. You are moving to Theed, correct?" Jobal nodded. "I was hoping that I would be able to live with you in Theed, and train Padme there."
Ruwee and Jobal spoke quietly together. Neither realised that the Grey Jedi was using a mind trick. They eventually agreed.
