All right let's get a few things out of the way before the yelling starts (puts on doughboy helmet and starts digging a trench) This isn't going to be very cannon, but I will try my best to capture the core personalities of the characters, but don't expect greatness. Two, I've had this idea for a while, so I'm getting it out of my head. Three, let me just say something about this show: One of the main reasons I didn't really get into it was because I couldn't get a solid read on the characters. I couldn't pair anyone with anyone, I couldn't really connect with them. Until I saw Keith and Romelle. And this story was born. Those were the only two I felt that click with. (Pokes head out of trench) So, this story will branch off from right after they find out what Lotor has done to the Colonists, and are traveling, but then it branches off. AU, none cannon, different timeline, all that good stuff. I own nothing, except the OCs and the idea. Sorry for the long A/N, but had to get that off my chest. Please enjoy! (ducks down into trench)

Chapter 1

Keith stared out the window, forehead pressed against the glass, watching the stars pass by. His hands were bound in front of him, digging into his wrists, and the bench he was sitting on was unforgiven. The last few hours kept playing over and over again in his head.

They had barely started the trip back to the castle, him, Romelle, Krolia, and the wolf, when they became trapped in a tractor beam from an unidentified ship. Krolia tried to hide the two, keeping the wolf by her side; weapons drawn and waiting. Beings that looked human, except their faces were very square, eyes pitch black, and boxed shaped ears. They were dressed in heavy armor and carrying rifles. They found Keith and Romelle within seconds and forced Krolia into surrendering. They muzzled the wolf and put cuffs on all three of them, marching them into the other ship. A large being went up to them, hands on hips.

'Well, what do we have here? A Galra, a new animal for the menagerie, and, what are you?" He said, looking Keith up and down.

"I've heard of species like him, sir. They are called humans." A guard from the back said. The leader sniffed slightly, looking down at Keith. His eyes than turned to Romelle, eyebrows going up in surprise.

"An Altean? I thought they were wiped out." He said, taking in her ears and markings. A guard came swaggering up to Romelle, a cocky grin on his face.

"This will be a treat. Never seen an Altean fight. Maybe we'll give her to the guy who pulls the wings off of insects." He said, leaning in so his face was inches away from Romelle's.

"Careful, Joshua. I wouldn't get to close." Another guard said. Joshua laughed over his shoulder.

"Please, these people were lovers, not fighters." Keith glanced over at Romelle, and saw a look in her eyes that was a cross between fear and defiance. Before anyone could react, Romelle reared her head back and slammed her forehead into Joshua's nose. There was a loud crunch as blood spurted from his nose. Joshua howled in pain, staggering backwards, clutching his nose as blood leaked through his fingers. The rest of the guards were too busy laughing to help him.

"You bitch!" Joshua screamed, glaring bullets. The Leader looked at him.

"Maybe this will teach you not to underestimate a prisoner. After all, they are about to fight for their lives. Good she gets that into her head now." He then turned to Romelle.

"Although, you just proved you can handle your own against a decent opponent. Had you stayed your head, they would have put you in a lesser category. Now, you are going to play with the big dogs." He said. Romelle's look was still defiant, but the fear was creeping back.

"Alright, we got some Players! Let's go home!" The Leader said, and the guards cheered. Joshua glared at Romelle as another guard sat the trio down on the bench in another section of the ship, closing the door and locking them inside.

Keith was brought back to the present by a weight on his side. Romelle was shifting slightly. He glanced at her forehead, where a bruise was starting to form, and all the bravado had left her. He could also feel her shivering slightly. He scooted close to her share some of his body heat. She glanced at him, and managed a small smile. Keith smiled back a little, huddling in on himself to keep his core warm. The hum of the ship put the both of them into a light doze, with Krolia ever vigilante. It wasn't until Keith spoke up to break the silence.

"Have you ever heard anything of what they are talking about?" He asked her quietly.

"No. I've never heard of any kind of Game or players." She said. Keith went back to the window, trying hard to see if he could find The Castle.
