Chapter 11
A/N: Just a short chapter. I thought I'd post it before I went to bed.
Padme had wanted to go with Jessica to see the Jedi Council. However, it was decided that she should take her role of Queen, and speak to the Senate.
Jessica waited outside the Council chambers while Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan made their report. Qui-Gon described the suspected Sith. Mace Windu and Yoda made all the required assurances, then dismissed them. Obi-Wan headed towards the door. Qui-Gon did not move.
"More to say have you, Master Qui-Gon?" asked Yoda.
"With your permission, my master…" he paused. "I have encountered a vergence in the Force."
"A vergence, you say?"
"Located around a person?" questioned Windu.
Qui-Gon nodded. "A boy. His cells have the highest concentration of midi-chlorians I have ever seen in a life-form. It was possible he was conceived by the midi-chlorians."
There was a shocked silence at this. Mace Windu was the first to recover his voice. "You refer to the prophecy," he said quietly, "of the one who will bring balance to the Force. You believe it is this boy."
Qui-Gon hesitated. "I don't presume –"
"But you do!" Yoda snapped. "Revealed, your opinion is!"
Qui-Gon took a deep breath. "I was going to say, Master, that I don't presume to come before you without confirmation. There is another who agrees with my opinion."
Master Ki-Adi-Mundi jumped to the obvious conclusion. "Kenobi is your Padawan, and…"
But Qui-Gon was shaking his head. "No, not Obi-Wan. Another. Obi-Wan, could you open the doors, please?"
With a sigh, Obi-Wan complied.
