She was in a blank space, unable to discern up from down. She could hear voices in the distance, but was unable to make out what they were saying. However , she felt safe and warm and oh...so comfortable. She could feel warm hands caress her forehead.

Was that mum? Did she come back?

Her head hurt from thinking too much, so she drifted back into deep sleep. In her dreams she saw Mr Dickinson having a beybattle with Tyson's grandpa who was dressed in a bizarre Hawaiian shirt with pineapple motiffs. She could also hear someone call out her name.

Was that Tyson? She ought to respond and let him know that she was alright...just very sleepy.

She tried to open her eyes or make a sound but her eyes felt heavy and her mouth wouldn't form the words. She tried again and saw a flash of light and the silhouette of a person before everything fell dark again.

--

She was feeling warm...a little too warm for comfort. Her head did not hurt as much anymore. She could also feel rapid breathing next to her.

What was that?

So curious she was about the whole affair that she was compelled to open her eyes a crack.

There it was again! The same icy blue eyes. She remembered seeing them before. But from when?

She struggled to open her eyes wider and focus on those blue irises. What she saw however, almost made her yelp out. A large Siberian husky was sitting next to her. Its rapid breathing fanning her face. Its blue eyes watching her intently. Hilary struggled to sit up but warm hands held her down, comforting her.

Wait! Were they speaking in English? And how did they know her name.

She turned her face to see a plump, kind faced, middle aged woman sitting next to her, holding a wash cloth. A young girl of no more than 16 was standing next to the woman, watching her curiously. The woman was saying something to her. Hilary tried to focus on the conversation .

"You gave us quite the fright there, my love", the lady tutted.

"Yeah! We thought you had broken your neck! the young girl pipped in. Hilary tried to make sense of the conversation. What had she done to make these people think she had broken her neck.

Oh wait...oh no!

The memory hit her with the force of a freight train. She had fallen from a wall. She had been in terrible pain. Most likely had passed out. She lifted her neck to look at her left arm, which was in a sling. She had scratches up and down her right arm and the palm had an angry red cut across it. She felt her forehead and her fingers brushed against a bandage slapped across her left temple. She was also wearing someone else's clothes. The lady noticed her examining the dress and patted her knee kindly.

"Your clothes were all soiled my love. I have given them a quick wash and put them out to dry. These are my daughter's things. You can use them for however long you like."

"How long have I been out for?" Hilary asked. Her voice sounded croaky.

'A whole day I'd reckon', the girl replied."The doc put you on painkillers and anesthetic".

There was another nagging question that Hilary wanted an answer for.

"How do you know my name?"

The girl was about to answer when the Husky sprang up from the bed and ran to the door. The older woman silently stood up and beckoned the younger girl to follow her. They exited the room and Hilary could hear a male voice speaking to them. Although he was hidden from view, she could hear his cool curt voice addressing them.

"Thank you Mrs Harrison. I need a few minutes alone with her. And please take Mishka along with you".

The young girl popped her head back through the doorway and gave Hilary a cheerful wave before shutting the door. Hilary lay back against fluffy pillows and studied her surroundings. She was in a large bedroom, lying on a beautiful four poster bed. The room had huge sash windows letting in rosy light from the setting sun. She had lifted up her arm to take a closer look at the wounds when the door swung open.

Hilary watched as a very familiar young man walked briskly into the room and positioned himself near the window. His handsome face was currently twisted with cold fury.

"Explain yourself", Kai Hiwatari growled at the currently terrified brunette. She had never seen him this angry before.

"Kai, it's me..., she spoke up softly. But he cut across her response.

"Yes Hilary. I do know it's you. What I don't know however, is why you felt the need to THROW YOURSELF OVER MY WALL !"

He was shouting now and looked really mad.

Hilary struggled to sit up again, but the motion made her slightly dizzy. Her discomfort did not go unnoticed on Kai. He moved closer to the bed. "Are you okay?", he asked in a less gruffer tone.

Hilary nodded, refusing to meet his eyes. She was embarrassed and hurt by his cold demeanor. Kai sighed, stuffing his hands in his pockets. "You could have been seriously injured, or worse, dead. What were you thinking?"

Hilary looked up into his face. His reddish brown eyes were fixed on her. A few bangs of his dark hair rested on his forehead. He had the beginnings of a slight stubble and his lips were currently thin with annoyance. He was also quite tall, maybe a whole foot taller than her. And although he was lean, she could make out well defined muscles straining through his shirt sleeves.

He was still looking at her expectantly for an answer. She hesitantly cleared her throat. "I had come to see you, but couldn't find a way in. I waited outside the gate hoping someone would come out but no one did".

"So you decided to scale the walls and maybe jump to your death?" supplied Kai sarcastically.

Hilary frowned at him. "You know what Kai? Maybe if you let people meet you at the office, like normal humans do, then perhaps I wouldn't have had to resort to extreme measures now, would I? "Your office minnions wouldn't even let me pass on a message to you".

Kai raised his hand to silence her. " For your information, they did let me know".

Hilary stared at him. "I see, and you chose to ignore an old friend, who by the way, has traveled over a 1000 miles to get here", she replied tightly.

Kai narrowed his eyes at her. "Why are you here Hilary?"

She looked back at him calmly. "I wanted to tell you something important. It had to be done face to face. And I even have a letter in my backpack that explains everything".

Kai was now looking uncomfortable and stepped back away from the bed.

"Stop! Hilary, I think I know what this is about. And as flattered as I am, this is not the best time. I am not looking for a relationship...never have, never will. So let's pretend this never happened and go back to our lives...", he finished helplessly.

Hilary gaped at him for a few seconds, before she burst out laughing. Kai watched her confused as she held her chest, trying to control her laughter. "Oh Kai! I didn't come here to make any undying declaration of love", she said rolling her eyes at him. I'm here on official BBA matter".

Kai did not look convinced. So she patted the bed next to her. "Let me start from the beginning. You better take a seat Kai. This will take a while".
