===xx

Draco Malfoy was sitting in front of the accursed vanishing cabinet. He was tasked with fixing this damnable device before the end of the year or he would die.

He looked at the dark mark burned into his arm through dark magic. He had been forced to do something unnatural and evil to accept the mark, just like his father had done before him. Just like all of the Death Eaters. The Dark Lord enjoyed making his followers dance to his tune, so they could show their loyalty to the Dark Lord. He closed his eyes as he heard the screams of the local muggle girl he had violated, that he had forced himself on then obliviated so she would never remember the actions he had done to her.

He was supposed to kill her and dump the body in the woods but he just couldn't bring himself to go that far. He had wanted to make his father proud, to show him he was strong, that he was a true Malfoy. Only it all tasted like ashes now. He reflexively rubbed at the symbol of his greatest mistake once again. His father had not told him he could feel the evil moving and crawling under his skin, like some kind of burrowing creature. It itched constantly.

He got up and began to pace again. Angry at himself for ever wanting to be like his father, for ever allowing himself to go this far. To get into this battle so deeply. He had listened to his father and mother prattle on constantly about how blood made people better. How the right sort were the pure-bloods and nobody else.

Granger proved that a lie. She was the best student in the school, beating Ravenclaws in her points. Getting the best grades out of everyone, even with Snape stacking the deck against her. Even Draco had to admit that she was well on her way to being Head Girl and was one of the most technically proficient and skilled witches in the school. She was not entirely a slouch at being inventive but that is what their friend Luna Lovegood was all about. She was nothing but inventive. A pure-blood that didn't care about her purity. Hell Draco thought he wasn't even sure she knew she was a pure-blood sometimes.

Then there was the Weasleys, those lunatics had no technical proficiency and nothing but pure dumb luck with their spells and abilities. From the insanity the Twin terrors performed to the one trick of Ginny. But the one who took the cake, the top of the heap was Harry James Potter. Half Blood, hero of the wizarding world, the boy-who-lived and the one person Draco could never get out of his mind.

Draco had realized he had a crush on the stupid git last year. Theodore had been teasing him about his always taunting Potter but never actually doing anything to move against him since year one. How every year he had to go make sure Potter was on the train and how with her dark black hair, green eyes and boyish figure Pansy even looked a bit like Potter. So of course Draco had joined the Inquisitorial squad and attacked Potter and his friends, it was the cruelist he had ever been to them. To try to show everyone he did not have a crush on Potter. It hurt to do that.

Only when he found out about what happened at the Ministry he felt a pang of regret, of sorrow and sadness. Bellatrix had been bragging about killing Sirius Black her own cousin and the last father figure Potter had. He remembered how shattered Potter had been after the battle and he wondered how he would feel if his own father died. When he couldn't summon the kind of sadness that Potter seemed to feel he was confused. He had almost reached out to try and apologize or even extend some sympathy towards Potter but he knew his own father would see that as consorting with the enemy. Showing weakness was not the Malfoy way.

He kicked at some stupid piece of furniture sticking out of a pile causing a small landslide. Leaping out of the way he fell into a pile of dishes and lamps and junk. Throwing them around he shattered a crystal that caused a pillar of reddish brown smoke to issue from it. The pillar soon coalesced into a tall muscular male with dusky red skin and jet black hair. He was wearing tight pants and curled toed slippers. A fire opal gemstone hung from a golden chain around his neck.

He stretched and flexed causing Draco to stare in confused fascination as the being grinned at him, "Ahh a thousand years trapped in that bauble can put such a crink in the back you know."

Draco blinked a couple of times. A part of his brain was screaming that he should be running right now. That running was a very good idea and always an available option. Unfortunately his body did not seem to be in agreement as he shivered in confused terror.

"Forgive me friend. Salaam and good evening to you." He cheerfully and politely said bowing with his hands in front of him, palms together.

Draco managed to recover his voice enough to stammer, "Who, Who are you?"

"Who am I. A very curious question given that who must be followed by what and what I am is a djinn."

"A genie?" Draco asked in a curious tone.

"Not quite." The being said with a disgusted tone. "I am a Djinn. We are the elementals of the desert sands. The first beings of true magical power to form out of the primordial winds that blew the sands of the desert together. I am Farouk the Mighty. A prince among my people and for freeing me I will grant you one wish."
Draco's mouth spoke before he thought about it. "The only wish I have is to be out of the problems I've gotten myself into. I want things to be different." He cried out.

Farouk looked at him with his burnt red eyes, he grinned again making his mustache twitch. "I can see into your heart what the problem is. What the solution is. You desire things to be different. That is the main point of your wish?" The being asked.

Draco nodded, he knew he wanted things to be different somehow. He wasn't sure how or what he wanted but he knew it couldn't be any worse than the way it was right now.

"Know this mortal. I grant this wish but only this wish. There will be no more and no reversal. This wish will be permanent." He intoned drawing himself up impossibly tall it seemed like to Draco.

"I don't care. Right now I am stuck in a horrible place. Nothing could be worse than this right now." Draco cried.

"Very well then I grant you your wish for things to be different Draco Malfoy. Son of Lucius. From this day hence your world is different." The being known as Farouk declared as he clapped his hands.

Draco sudden felt himself tossed into the air in a burning gritty wind. A howling noise assaulted him as he felt surging energy go through him just before everything went dark.

Draco woke up laying on his stomach. He shifted to his hands and knees before he noticed something was not right. Long silken blonde hair cascaded down in a curtain around his head while two rather interesting weights hung from his chest.

He scrambled backwards trying to stand only to fall onto his backside. A firm round padded backside his mind noticed as he landed on it. The things on his chest bounced and shifted briefly due to the impact.

He reached down to grab the breasts, his breasts. He had breasts. He pulled at the long blonde hair only to feel pain. He screamed in a feminine voice briefly.

Jumping to his feet he remembered seeing a stupid mirror not far from here. Running to it he found that he was a very attractive blonde girl. Leaning closer to the mirror as if trying to see himself instead of the girl, his breath steamed it. It was not an illusion, it was something real. As he stood staring into the mirror he saw that the image was shifting and melting.

He was standing beside Harry Potter, only as the girl still. No a mature woman as her pregnant belly showed, a baby was in Potter's arms while another crawled around by their feet. He recoiled in confusion falling onto a bench. The reflection shifted and returned to that of a blonde haired girl sitting on a bench. Still wearing the same clothes she had been wearing before this shift.

Studying the reflection without moving she accepted he had been turned into a girl. The Djinn had promised his life would be different, his world would be different. Oh Merlin what else had changed? Was there now a Draco and he was someone else? She was going to have to get more information. The first thing though was to see if it was gone.

Draco hesitantly turned her left arm over to look at the pure unblemished pale skin where the Dark mark had once been burned. She rubbed it as a sense of relief flooded her. Washed over her like a giant wave. She began to laugh uncontrollably as she stood up and ran from the room.

Draco had only gone a few feet down the corridor when she realized she was wearing the exact same clothes she had been before the Djinn changed her. The clothes did not fit well and a bra was definitely going to have to become part of her wardrobe now.

Draco paused as she heard people coming. She saw Potter and his gang coming down the corridor. When they saw her they started smiling.

"Di. Hey there you are. We were wondering if the Nargles had carried you off." Harry said grinning as they came up.

"Uh why are you wearing such ill fitting clothes?" Luna asked bluntly. She was holding hands with Neville Longbottom, Draco noticed.

Hermione snapped her fingers in front of Draco's face. "Di? Hello? Are you alright?"

"Uh. No. Maybe. What did you call me?" Draco thought maybe being honest for once would be a good idea.

"I called you Di. The nickname you said we should call you." Hermione asked. Harry was watching Draco very closely it seemed like.

"Who am I?" Draco asked. "What's my name?"
Harry laughed, "Maybe we ought to get you to Madam Pomfrey. You look like you got tossed and spun by one of Hagrid's cousins."

Draco laughed, "Maybe. Just humor me, please Harry." Draco tried the pouty expression Pansy put on when she wanted something. Apparently Potter was not immune to it either.

"Okay let's get to the room and then we'll figure this out." Harry commanded making the others shrug or nod. Weasley was not among them

When Harry took Draco's long slender hand in his Draco's heart almost exploded. "Are you sure you're okay?"

"Yeah I am now." Draco wound up giggling briefly, causing Hermione to roll her eyes. Harry though nodded and squeezed her hand.

Luna had activated the room so that it was a nice sitting room with beanbag chairs and low tables. It was in wild primary colors with flying rabbits and dancing pigs cavorting overhead.

Draco was led to a low padded mat between Harry and Hermione. Hermione took the time to cast a few spells on her before asking, "Okay now what happened?"

"Uh. Before I answer your question could you pleease answer a few of mine. Then I promise you. I'll answer anything you ask me." Draco bit her lip in worry as she looked from one face to another.

Harry nodded, "Okay. Well to tell you your name you're Diana Cavendish."

"Diana. Diana Cavendish?" Draco asked again. When everyone nodded she sighed, "Okay. What house am I in?"
"You're in Ravenclaw with me." Luna said happily. "You're like my big sister and you introduced me to Harry and Hermione." She continued.

Draco frowned. Or rather Diana as she figured she might try getting used to that name. "I'm in Ravenclaw? But. How did I become friends with the two of you then? Ravenclaw and Gryffindor don't share too many classes."

Hermione laughed, "Well you and I have been in competition for the top two spots in the school since first year We met in the library one day to bury the hatchet and talk during second year when Harry was regarded as the biggest threat to the castle since Salazar Slytherin himself. Ever since then we've been friends."

Harry then chuckled, "And you and I met with your mom in Diagon Alley my first time in the magical world. You helped me understand some of the stuff Hagrid neglected to mention about the magical world. So we've been friends ever since then. You were my first friend in the magical world my age."

Diana nodded she had a feeling she might be more than just a friend, "Oh. Okay. And uh. Do you know a Draco Malfoy?" She asked nervously.

They all looked at each other while Luna stared up at a pig for a long moment before saying, "I remember now. He and his family were killed when he was a small child. Father said there was some suspicion that it was another dark family who wanted to take over their position and power. So they ended the Malfoy family line."

Neville snapped his fingers, "Yeah I remember that now. Gramma said it was one of the old fashioned ways the Great Houses used to settle issues. That the Malfoys had made a bunch of enemies stepping on people as they climbed the power ladder."

Diana blinked rapidly as she processed that. She would have remembered her entire family being killed, "Who did it?"
Neville looked at Luna who frowned, "There was never any proof but the general consensus is it was the Weasleys."

Diana rocked back then started laughing maniacally. The Djinn had promised the world would be different.

"Diana?" Hermione put her arm on the laughing girl's back to steady her.

"Sorry. Sorry. Okay. Wow. He did promise my world would be different."

"Who?" Hermione asked.

"One last question okay? Well one for now. I have a feeling I'm going to be asking a lot more questions before I get a handle on everything." Diana stated.

"Right okay. One more then we get to ask several." Luna clapped her hands with a maniacal grin making Diana flinch.

"So uh. Well. Am I your girlfriend?" Diana had wanted to ask something else but the fact Harry had not let go of her hand through all of this made her wonder more about that.

Harry seemed to be surprised by that but after glancing at Hermione said, "Uh its sort of complicated but we're working that out."

"Oh. I hope you'll explain what you mean by that at some point." Diana said. She noticed Hermione had not removed her hand from her back but lowered it to just above her kidneys.

"We will. Now you had better explain why you're acting like Luna after eating her father's mushrooms." Neville said with a laugh as he hugged Luna.

"I swear father said they would help me see the wrackspurts so much more clearly." she said with big eyed earnestly. "I never suspected they would help the Nargles take my clothes and make me dance in the moonlight."

Neville shrugged. As the others gave light chuckles.

Diana smiled before taking a deep breath, "Okay well any of you ever hear of something called a Djinn?"

Luna and Hermione reacted with Hermione gasping and Luna looking worried, "You encountered a Djinn?"

"Uh yeah. Is that bad?" Diana asked worriedly.

Hermione paused to find the right words it seemed like but Luna jumped in, "It depends on if you made a wish or not."
"Let's just suppose that I made a wish." Diana said with a sinking feeling.

Luna looked concerned, "Oh well then you could be in deep trouble."
Hermione cleared her throat. "Djinn are spirits from the Middle east. They share many characteristics with the Genies, Div and other elemental spirits. However Djinn are a bit more on the trickster end of things at best. They have a tendency to grant wishes that are twisted in their intent, especially if one is careless with their wording or vague in their intent."

Diana buried her face in her hands briefly going "Oh crap. Well that explains it."

"Explains what?" Harry asked deeply concerned.

"Uh well this is going to be a long story." Diana said with an awkward expression.

Once she had finished Diana looked at the others with some concern. She was worried they would think she had gone insane or even worse they would abandon her and then what would happen.

Harry worked his tongue around inside his mouth as he thought before saying, "Okay. Hermione, Luna why would we all only know her as Diana Cavendish?"

Hermione and Luna had moved to the side briefly, they had a quick intense whispered conversation before Hermione said, "Actually this makes sense. If you did make that kind of vague, open ended, wish to a Djinn they would be free to interpret it however they wanted. Especially if they had a sense of irony and wanted to punish you for the way you had been for some reason."

"We need to research this Farouk the Mighty." Luna stated.

"Right." Hermione agreed.

Diana looked at all of them, "So you believe me?"

Hermione shrugged with a quick sideways head nod, "I neither believe nor disbelieve you. I remember you as Diana Cavendish. I'm pretty sure Harry does too."

Harry nodded, "Yeah. You've been Diana ever since I've known you."
Diana frowned, "So what does that mean for me?"

"Well I'm going to treat you like Diana. Since I never knew this Draco and I hope the rest of us will too. If that's what you want." Harry declared firmly.

The others all voiced the agreement with that idea.

Diana sighed in relief, "Thank you. I'll try to be this Diana but I don't know what she was like and what you remembered. So maybe you should tell me, about me." Diana laughed.

"Luna why don't you take Diana back to Ravenclaw so she can get dressed and you can tell her about herself along the way. I'll go to the library and get to work on this Farouk."
Harry smiled, "I'll walk with you to Ravenclaw if you don't mind Diana?"

Diana smiled warmly, "No I don't mind at all."

===xxx

Luna began to chatter on happily about how Diana was a smart, caring person who had done a lot to help her over the years. Had been a good friend and a big sister when the Nargles had messed with her things and during the darkness when she was attacked by the spirit of Riddle.

Harry walked with Diana holding her hand which caused her to feel funny and tingly all over. Draco would have preferred being caught dead rather than walk openly like this. Harry did not seem to find anything odd or unusual about it.

By the time they had reached the Ravenclaw door with its golden Raven knocker Diana had a decent idea of the sort of person she was. Luna had not shed much light on why Harry was holding her hand though.

"One last thing what's the story of this?" She said pulling her hand and Harry's up to refer.

"It's kinda complicated. But let's just say you and Hermione are very special to me." Harry said.

Diana sighed, "I wish I could remember any of this."

"Be careful wishing. That got you into this." Luna cautioned earnestly.

Diana laughed, "Yeah well he said I only got the one wish and there would be no more."

"Still there are other beings and fate herself can listen." Luna seriously said.

Harry chuckled, "I think that's not a bad wish for Di. Okay Luna?"

Luna looked appeased but still said, "One can never be too careful."
Pulling Luna into a one armed hug Harry kissed the top of her head, "I know Luna. Okay I better go see what Mione has turned up so far. Love you."

"Love you too Harry." Luna said earnestly hugging him back. "Don't forget to kiss Diana. She will need positive reaffirmation that she is still cared about."
"I know Luna. I will." Harry said as Luna extracted herself from Harry's hug. Harry turned and hugged Diana then kissed her on the lips.

The small part of Diana that identified as Draco Malfoy squirmed and screamed but the part that was coming to accept herself as Diana screamed in excitement. His lips were so much softer and warm than she had ever expected. The kiss was altogether far too brief for her desires.

She was looking into his emerald green eyes deeply as he studied her. "You okay?"
"Yeah. I just never kissed you before, that I remember." Diana breathlessly said.

"Oh yeah. Well you enjoyed?" He cheekily asked.

Diana breathlessly nodded, "Yes. Very much."

"Ok. Love you too." Harry said honestly.

Diana giggled nervously as she just nodded. Harry grinned but went off without making a big deal.

Luna giggled, "Good. Now c'mon. I need to show you your dorm and stuff." Luna said taking Diana's hand.

Diana reluctantly let go of Harry, listened to Luna answer the riddle of the door and then was in the Ravenclaw dorm.

Diana changed her clothes with her mind whirling. Luna had to correct her on the proper technique for putting the brassiere on but otherwise sat on her bed chatting happily and comfortably about how they were all such a tight and caring family. How Diana was lucky to be with harry and Hermione but that Luna was very happy with Neville.

Diana looked in the trunk and on the nightstand trying to make sense of her new life. There was a picture of her with a tall handsome man and a pretty blonde haired woman. It was a formal picture so could have been anywhere. A photo album held pictures from the last several years. Pictures of her with Harry, Hermione, Neville and Luna doing various activities. A few muggle pictures of her and Hermione in swimsuits, together or alone with Harry. Some with Luna and Neville in the muggle world as well.

Luna had stopped talk and was looking over Diana's shoulder. "You do not remember any of this?"

Diana shook her head, "No. He said my world would be different, not my memories." She said slapping the album shut.

"I'm sorry Diana. We had a lot of great things happen that would be nice for you to remember." Luna hugged her sympathetically.

"Thanks Luna. I'll figure it out. I'm just a bit shocked and confused right now. Trying to get a handle on this world. Who I am and what my place is in it."
Luna nodded deeply, "Aren't we all."

"So where should I start? I mean the Malfoys are dead, who are the Cavendish family?"

"You are part of a pure-blood line that was related to the muggle Cavendish family. Your father is Robert Cavendish and your mother is Corina, she prefers to be called Cora. You live on an estate to the east of Leiston in Suffolk. Your parents are really nice people and they have even accepted your unusual relationship with Hermione and Harry." Luna explained in a single rapid breath.

Diana looked at her for a long moment before deciding to just ignore that and accept that Luna was weird in any reality. "About that. How did we come about?"

"What do you mean?" Luna asked in confusion.

"How did I wind up in a complicated relationship with Harry Potter and the," Diana had almost said mudblood but doubted Diana would have said that, "brightest girl in the school."

Luna smiled broadly, "Oh that. Because when you and Hermione became friends you both became Harry's friend and eventually realized you both loved him. So rather than fighting over him, ruining your friendship, you both decided to share him. Harry certainly doesn't mind. If it wasn't for Neville being my boyfriend I'd be really jealous of you both."

Diana raised her eyebrows in surprise, "We share him?"

"Oh yes. From what I have been able to surmise, none of you have had sexual relations with each other but have certainly enjoyed a great deal of other physical pleasures." Luna said with a sigh.

Diana looked at Luna in consternation, "Oh do you know all of this."
The bubbly blonde suddenly looked sad and vulnerable, "Because after Arthur Weasley slipped me the diary of Tom Riddle I was very hurt, scared and vulnerable. Harry saved my life and took me into your group. In a very platonic little sister way. I became very attached to Neville and we are very happy together. Did you know he kisses very well?"

"Uh no. I'll take your word for it." Diana said distractedly. Arthur Weasley? Arthur Weasley was a Death Eater?

"Are you okay Diana? You looked like I had slapped you with a haddock." Luna asked reaching out to touch Diana on the arm.

"Arthur Weasley is a Death Eater?" Diana asked in a hushed whisper.

"There is very little confirmation of it. He was cleared of all wrong doings. Although his great wealth and closeness to the Minister is probably how he escaped prosecution." Luna replied.

Diana shook her head feeling a sense of vertigo creeping up her spine. "What about Ron Weasley? Does he exist?"

"The Prince of Slytherin? He is one of the most foul, arrogant and conceited beings on this planet. A typical product of the Weasley family." Luna leaned in conspiratorially. "There are rumors that along with his girlfriend Millicent Bulstrode he is sexually involved with his sister Ginevra."

Diana felt her sense of vertigo reach the boiling point and cause her mind to briefly shut down.

"I am sorry this is too much information?"

Diana nodded her head, "Do I have enough time to take a nap. I think I need to relax for a little bit before I can deal with all of this."
Luna looked at the ceiling for several seconds then back into Diana's eyes, "You can take a 90 minute nap. Then you will have to shower and get dressed for Hermione's study group in the Library."

Diana took a deep breath. Of course she would have a study group. "Of course. She runs a study group."

Luna looked surprised, "You have said this is one of your happiest activities at the school. Especially as you are helping many of the lower year students develop an appreciation for learning."
Diana took a deep breath, yes she was definitely going to need to take a nap.

"Thank you Luna. I'm going to take that nap now." Diana said laying down on the bed.

Luna moved over for her, then cuddled beside her.

"Luna?"
"You're one of my big sisters. You look like you need a teddy bear right now."
Diana sighed. Her father had never allowed Draco to have a teddy bear. Putting her arm around the blonde as she tried not to cry.

n0wa5t3r: True. I am hoping to focus more on them than the background war and things going on. Especially with as noticed Ron being held at arms length. This will not be a trio story. I know what Harry's ability is and it is left field. And no it is not, but then again it is, hereditary from James Potter.

OfficerDonNZ: Correct he is not an animagus or a werewolf. And Scabbers will be coming out soon which will change the game completely.

Timekeeper: We'll see how it goes. I have the path I want to take in the notebook So hopefully the characters agree with it.
