Chapter 26: Long Road to Ruin
"What do we do!? You can't possibly fight him Takuya!" Zoe pleaded with the flame Digimon. He was dead set on confronting the monster running rampant in the city.
He shook his head, "Zoe- I have to- People are going to die if I don't-"
"YOU could DIE!" She shrieked, "Takuya please don't do this!"
Takuya looked at Zoe, then to Kouichi and Ms. Kimura. "I'm sorry." He bolted for the front door, and took off down the street before anyone could stop him.
"That idiot! He's going to get himself killed!" Kouichi cursed. By the time they ran outside Takuya was already long gone, jumping the rooftops towards the destruction. "We need to go after him!"
Takuya leapt closer and closer towards the devastation. He could see the heavy cloud of smoke and dust swallowing the area. He could feel the all too familiar power emanating from the center.
Countless people were fleeing the area as random explosions in the demonic knight's wake were demolishing the city around them.
The small Digimon paused on a rooftop, surveying the scene before him. He could vaguely see ShadowSeraphimon's shape in the distance between the buildings. He felt a feral growl rise in his chest. He looked apprehensive, knowing how dangerous the situation would be.
He took a breath to calm himself and continued towards to chaos, knowing that he could very well be in over his head. Then, the sound of sirens wailing caught his attention. He stopped again and watched a few firetrucks and emergency vehicles race down the street below.
Takuya followed them up the street, keeping up with ease from the rooftops. He paled seeing them turn towards a familiar building. Flames billowed out of the building in front of the small Digimon. He felt his blood run cold.
"Dad..."
Takuya jumped to a closer rooftop, his eyes scanning for anyone who might have been left behind. He had tried to hear out any possible cry for help; anything that would indicate that someone was in trouble.
People everywhere were running as rubble and glass rained down on them with each explosion caused by the evil angel. It was a sea of chaos; their screams and loud explosions muffled out any sound. The mob and the cloud of ash and dust had made it difficult for any individual in need to be seen.
The Digimon boy bit his lip, trying in a vain attempt to find his father in the mob. It was impossible to find him like this. He growled but took notice to someone who was trapped amongst the rubble.
Takuya jumped down, without any hesitation and ran over to the individual, pulling the rubble away to free them. He could hear the blasts grow closer but he pushed the thought away and pulled the last of the rubble away.
A woman he vaguely recalled as his father's secretary appeared beneath a sheet a mangled metal. She gasped at the sight of him, shrinking away in fright.
"No please, don't be afraid..." Takuya pleaded, still digging to free her leg from under a metal beam.
She looked at him with a deer in the headlights look. She gasped softly as he lifted the beam that pinned her leg.
"Move now!" he grunted as she scrambled away. Once she was clear, he set the rubble back down. She turned to flee. "Please... I...I need to know... did Hiroaki Kanbara get out?"
The woman stared at him, shaking her head after a moment. Takuya looked away, "Uh... Thanks..." She fled as Takuya stared up at the burning building. "What do I do?"
The building was one of the tallest in the area. It would take him hours to search the building for him and that was time he didn't have. ShadowSeraphimon was destroying everything in sight; he didn't have the time to look for a single person in this mess.
Takuya was stricken with panic. There was so much happening and his worry for his father did little but put him more on edge.
If Takuya was going to help everyone he would have to deal with the fallen angel to stop all the madness.
Stragglers were still fleeing the buildings, and Takuya was making sure to keep an eye out for his father or at least any indication that there was no one else inside.
That's when he heard the worst. Someone was frantically trying to convince rescue workers to go inside and free someone they saw collapsed on the 22nd floor. His dad's practice was on that floor. Takuya growled softly, making up his mind and dove into the building through an open window.
The lobby looked like a bomb had gone off. Desks, tables, and chairs were strewn across the floor. People were still trickling out of the staircases. He knew going up would only frighten people and prevent them from heading to safety.
His gaze fell upon the elevators. They weren't operating. He could climb up the shaft and get to the 22nd floor without scaring anyone.
He grunted and pried one of the doors open. He couldn't see the elevator car, and guessed it was stuck somewhere in the upper levels. Takuya just hoped it wouldn't obstruct his path. He studied the walls and leapt inside, leaping from ledge to ledge with catlike grace.
"19... 20... 21... one level to go." That's when Takuya found the elevator sitting between floors 21 and 22, blocking his path. He figured he could squeeze between it and the wall and continue from there. Then he heard someone inside the elevator calling for help.
Takuya thought the voice sounded familiar but he wasn't completely sure. It didn't matter though. He had to help whoever was in trouble. "I'm going to get you out of there! Just stay calm!"
The person inside the elevator had stopped calling for help and Takuya took that as a sign that they heard him.
Takuya held his breath, trying to make himself as thin as possible as he tried to squeeze through to get the elevator doors open. It was a tight fit, and Takuya found it very difficult to move but he at least managed to get between the doors.
First things first, Takuya pressed his back against the elevator car and tried to pry the doors to the floor open. It groaned and creaked but Takuya had managed, getting some leverage and giving him room to breath.
"Almost there!" Takuya called out again, trying to reassure whoever was trapped in the elevator. He then turned around and prepared to open the car doors when the building started to shake.
The car trembled as Takuya sunk his claws deeper into the slot between the doors. Using everything ounce of strength he could muster, he began to force the doors apart. He heard the audible gasp of the individual inside, but Takuya paid no attention to the person's fright. He had to open the doors enough to get them out.
Once the doors were his shoulder's width open he took a step back, allowing whoever was inside a chance to slide out. No one came. Takuya tilted his head, puzzled. "It's okay. I won't hurt you!" He tried to reassure the person in the elevator car.
Still no response. Takuya peered inside, shocked to find his father sitting in the far corner of the elevator. "Dad..." he breathed.
"You stay away from me you monster!" the man snapped. Takuya felt as though a knife pierced his heart.
"Dad... Please... L-let me help you..." Takuya pleaded, trying to climb into the car to pull his father out if he had to.
Mr. Kanbara kicked at the boy, "I said stay back!" His foot connected with Takuya's face, forcing him out of the car and onto the floor below.
"My, thou art pitiful," a voice sneered. Takuya froze.
He turned slowly, seeing his worst nightmare come to life standing before him. "M-mercurymon?!"
"Tis been a long time, former Warrior of Flame." The mirror warrior smirked and crossed his arms, his mirror shields reflecting the fear and panic of the two Kanbaras. "The last time we met, thou and thy worthless friends had defeated my magnificent power."
Takuya growled weakly but it incited no fear from the evil warrior. "What're you doing here?"
"I have come to take my place as ruler of these worlds, as is my destiny." Mercurymon answered smugly. He then turned Mr. Kanbara who was cowering in fear at the sight of the warrior. "Look at how fragile they are under my presence, like insects. It will be all too easy to take this world and make it my own."
"You're crazy if you think you can take over this world." Takuya found the courage to reply, standing in front of his father like a shield. "I won't let you do that."
Mercurymon just laughed at him. "Thou think that thou have a chance to defeat me? My power far exceeds thy own. Tis mere child's play to rid of a nuisance such as thyself."
Takuya's growls grew louder, his hands igniting but he hesitated when he heard his father's gasp.
"It breaks thy heart to see thy own father ever so fearful of thee, doesn't it?" Mercurymon taunted, taking pleasure in watching Hiroaki pull away from his son.
Takuya turned and glanced at his father's fearful expression. Tears formed in the small Digimon's eyes, "I-it doesn't matter... I'll protect my family, and my friends. I won't let you hurt anyone ever again!"
He lunged at Mercurymon, eyes blazing with anger. The Warrior of Steel smirked, " 'tis futile," he whipped his arm out, backhanding Takuya across the room, through a wall and into metal desk. The boy yelped in pain as he tried to stand.
"Stay down whelp. Thou hast been a thorn in my side since the beginning," the evil Warrior said confidently. He strode over to Takuya, grabbing the boy by the scruff of his neck.
The boy yelped in protest, struggling weakly. "Let go of me..."
"I will crush thee like a boot crushes a bug." He threw Takuya back into the desk, earning another pained cry from the boy. "No one wants a beast like thee. Thou art better off dead!"
Takuya looked up at Mercurymon. "I won't let you... I..." he coughed, "I won't give up!"
"Oh ho, really now? And how canst thou hope to match me with this?" he sneered in response, holding out two very familiar objects.
Takuya's eyes widened when the Warrior of Steel revealed two red lights, blazing with energy that the boy could not mistake. "My… Spirits…"
"Correction; they are my Spirits." Mercurymon interjected and made the lights vanish into his hand. "Now, tell me if this feels familiar," The warrior spoke and in an instant his hand lit ablaze, "Pyro Punch!"
The boy gasped and cried out in pain as the burning fist slapped into his gut.
Mercurymon smirked and threw Takuya into the support beam, crashing into it with a loud sickening thud. "What is the matter whelp? Canst thou stand up against my flames?"
Takuya whined weakly and tried pulling himself back up to his feet. He fell to his knees and heaved suddenly, the force of Mercurymon's punch having knocked the air from his chest. What affected him more was how Agunimon's attack, a move he so often used backing his adventures, was used against him with such a devastating magnitude.
"Thou truly art pathetic." Mercurymon smirked and turned to the adult. Hiroaki found himself unable to move, only able to just watch as the cruel warrior pommel the poor boy senseless. "Too scared to flee for thy worthless life fool?"
"L-leave him alone Mercurymon!" Takuya rasped, using the support beam to pull himself up.
The evil Warrior smirked and advanced on Mr. Kanbara, still trapped in the elevator. "I wonder if thy father can even look at thee. Thou art such a disgrace, not more than a mangy mutt, and I will put thee out of thy misery! Lupine Laser!"
The beam charged in the Warrior's shield, aimed for Mr. Kanbara. "No!" Takuya forced himself to his feet and dove into the path of the laser, taking the beast level attack square in the chest. He crumpled to the ground in a heap, dangerously close to the edge of the elevator shaft.
"Takuya," The boy didn't stir, his chest scarcely indicating him breathing. "Takuya! Get up!"
Mercurymon drew closer to the Kanbaras, an evil smile plastered to the steel Digimon's face. "Good riddance, whelp." He lifted his boot aiming to push Takuya down the shaft.
Hiroaki was frozen. Takuya scared him but the boy had been willing to take the hit for him. Takuya had saved him despite everything that happened to him.
The adult grabbed Takuya's arm and pulled him away from Mercurymon before the evil warrior could push him down the shaft.
"How fickle thou art. Was it not thee who cast this wretch from thy home?" The evil warrior asked, seemingly uninterested in the man's actions. "And now, thou hast gone out of thy way and prolonged his inevitable death."
The man tried his best to ignore Mercurymon's words and tried to wake his son. "Takuya, you need to wake up. Wake up. Please."
Takuya moaned weakly as his father shook him to try and awaken him. His body ached, a painful burn seared in his chest from being shot by Mercurymon's attack.
His eyes fluttered open, "D-dad?" His vision swam before him as his father slowly came into focus.
Mr. Kanbara looked as though he was going to speak, but found no words to say. This creature lying in his lap was still his son, despite the ferocious exterior. How could he have been so blind? "Takuya..."
"My, there is nothing like a father and son. It's so sweet it's sickening!" Mercurymon grabbed Takuya's tail, pulling him from his father's arms. He slammed the boy into the ground, and kicked him repeatedly in the chest.
Takuya could feel himself blacking out. He was hopelessly outmatched. Death felt imminent.
"Thy power will be mine whelp! Thou hast no prayer of defeating me!" the Warrior laughed maniacally.
Hiroaki panicked for a moment and looked around for anything that could help. Takuya could die if he didn't do anything. Out of desperation the man picked up a large chunk of rubble from the floor and lunged at the warrior.
Mercurymon had no trouble backhanding Mr. Kanbara into the wall. He paid the man little to no mind as he was busy enjoying the pain he was causing the boy. "Look around thee whelp for this will be the last sight thou shall see."
Takuya whimpered, feeling Mercurymon's foot press down on his chest.
"Thou never stood a chance against me whelp. My power goes unmatched. Not even Aldamon's power can rival my own." Mercurymon continued to taunt and ground his heel into the boy's chest making him black out.
The boy's eye lids fluttered open slowly. Takuya rose in a pitch-black void. Immediately he feared the worst.
"You aren't dead."
Agunimon appeared before Takuya, armor practically glowing in the darkness. He smiled at Takuya. The boy stared at the Warrior of Flame, in shock. His voice caught in his throat as millions of questions raced through his head.
"I owe you an explanation," the blonde warrior said softly.
Takuya nodded numbly, unable to bring himself to speak.
"This might be hard to understand, but our souls have been linked. They have been ever since you ran away from the Digital World after Duskmon struck down Kouji. You became in sync with my spirit when I transformed you into Flamon, allowing you to better understand and utilize it's potential."
"You turned me into Flamon?" Takuya asked, finding his voice at last.
Agunimon nodded, "I had to in order to protect you. If you had merely returned to the Human World on DarkTrailmon- it would have caused a rip in the fabric of time and space. There would have been two of you in existence- and that could not be so. I also sensed Duskmon's energy pursuing you. I wasn't about to let him harm you when I could not be there to protect you."
"Okay… but why are you here now? If our souls were linked, why haven't you shown yourself before? " Takuya countered, feeling betrayed by his own Spirits.
"You didn't need me." Agunimon said simply,
Takuya shook his head, "But I DID need you!"
"I'm sorry Takuya, but you wouldn't have needed me if I hadn't been so careless. I lost to ShadowSeraphimon and he took my data- along with the data of BurningGreymon and Aldamon. Fortunately their powers remained locked to him. He still retains the ability to copy another's attack and use it, so I fought as Agunimon, to prevent him from learning the higher powered attacks should I lose."
"But you did lose."
"Yes. It was my concern about his abilities that cost me the battle- and in turn affected you. When my data was absorbed by ShadowSeraphimon, my soul- much like Seraphimon's egg, lingered. It attached itself to you- because of our deep bonds. That is why you became half Digimon."
Takuya felt himself tense up with Agunimon's explanation. "So… that's why I've… turned into a Digimon… does that mean… it's also the reason why those Digimon were after me?"
"It is." Agunimon answered. "Mercurymon wants our full power. He wants all the power of the Legendary Warriors. How he was able to follow you here… I'm not sure. It started with a small hole but he finally made his way into this world."
The boy wasn't sure how to respond to that. "I'm sorry Takuya. I never wanted to drag you into all of this… or to cause you all this pain."
"My life was ruined Agunimon… my family cast me out… everyone at school thinks I'm a freak… I don't even have my humanity anymore. All I have are my friends."
"I know."
Takuya bit his lip, unable to look his friend in the eye. Part of him wanted to blame Agunimon for everything that's happened to him since this whole ordeal started but he remembered he was still in battle with Mercurymon. "What now?"
"You need to use the Spirits and beat Mercurymon like we did before. If you become Aldamon you'll have the strength and power to take him on."
"What if I don't?" Takuya countered, "What if I lose?"
Agunimon placed his hands on the smaller boy's shoulders, "You can do this Takuya. I know you can, and you know you can."
The smaller digimon looked down, "but... I..." He closed his eyes feeling all the pain and suffering he's had to endure.
"I won't let him hurt you Takuya. I'm going to do my job and protect you like I should have," The blonde Warrior insisted, "You have so much more than you realize, you just need to believe in yourself."
Takuya looked up into Agunimon's fierce blue eyes finally. The Warrior never meant to hurt him, things just turned out badly. Even in making him half Digimon was an act of protection.
"Okay." Takuya nodded slowly, accepting his spirit's power and friendship as he had once before.
Mercurymon felt a twisting sensation in his stomach, "-what?" It felt like something was being pulling out from the core of his being. He gasped as he saw a familiar red glow envelop Takuya's limp form. "NO! I will not allow this!"
Energy surged through Takuya's body, revitalizing hm and giving him the strength to fight on. He rose to his feet slowly and data wrapped around his body. It pulsed and disappeared in a burst of light. In Flamon's place stood a tall and very angry looking Agunimon, Warrior of Flame.
"Are you ready for round two Mercurymon? Because I sure am." Agunimon asked rhetorically and cracked his knuckles, getting himself ready to continue fighting.
Hiroaki watched in awe of the blonde warrior clad in red armor that stood in Takuya's place. Agunimon stood tall, a good head taller than he was. Agunimon looked absolutely imposing. "That's… Takuya…?"
The Warrior of Flame lunged forward with impressive speed and punched the Warrior of Steel in the face, catching him off guard. Agunimon smirked and followed up his attack with a kick in the chest, making the evil warrior recoil and back up towards the edge of the room.
Mercurymon growled and aimed his shields to face his opponent. "Lupine Laser!"
Takuya was ready for KendoGarurumon's stolen attack this time. He dodged the attack with ease, feeling light on his feet. Flames sparked to life from his gauntlets, swirling around his arms. "Pyro Punch!" he punched fist full of flames at Mercurymon, stunning the steel Warrior.
He growled, "Thou cannot best me!" Data flowed around his body. Takuya lunged at the evolving warrior, tackling him through a window.
Mr. Kanbara called out, but his voice was lost amidst the shattering glass and growls. The data disappeared, as Mercurymon successfully evolved to ShadowSeraphimon. The demonic angel Digimon open his wings to prevent him from crashing to the pavement below.
"Thou art doomed now!" he pulled Agunimon off his chest and threw the blonde Warrior back into the building. The impact was enough to force Takuya to de-digivolve back to Flamon.
Takuya moaned, feeling sore from the impact, but got back to his feet and glared at the fallen angel. His eyes widened when he saw that ShadowSeraphimon had held his hands out towards them.
"Strike of the Seven Dark Stars!" ShadowSeraphimon charged seven black balls of light before his hands and prepared to release it onto Takuya and Hiroaki.
"Dad! Look out!" Takuya called out and tackled his father out of the way as the balls of energy shot towards them, demolishing everything they came in contact with. The building shook violently and tile fell from the ceiling but Takuya kept himself over his father, protecting them from everything that would hurt them.
The dust settled and Takuya wobbly got back to his feet and took a cautious step towards the window. "Dad, are you okay?"
Hiroaki nodded slowly, to shaken up from the sudden blast to respond verbally.
Takuya trembled where he stood. The attack had seriously compromised the building's integrity. "W-we need to go... now," he choked out, gasping for air. He didn't realize how badly he had been injured as well. Hiroaki tentatively went to Takuya's side. He carefully wrapped an arm around the small Digimon's shoulders, supporting him.
"Let's go," Mr Kanbara said softly, pulling his son along towards the stairs. Takuya smiled weakly, nodding.
The building shook again. ShadowSeraphimon appeared in the window, reaching in for Takuya. The small digimon pushed his father away as the demonic Digimon's hand closed around his body. He cried out in pain, being crushed.
"Get off of him you bastard!" Mr. Kanbara called out to the fallen angle but he had already flown out the window to the open sky.
ShadowSeraphimon floated in midair and looked down at the boy in his hand. "Didst thou truly think that even with thy power that thou could defeat me?" he asked, tightening his grip and making the boy yelp with pain.
Takuya struggled against the evil Digimon's grip, trying to get room to breath. "Let go of me!" he commanded and was covered in the same light again before expanding. ShadowSeraphimon was forced to let go of the boy as he grew. The light faded leaving the large red armored dragon BurningGreymon in Takuya's place.
The fallen angel drifted backwards, getting some space between the two. He kept his gaze on the blazing dragon and smirked under his helmet. "Tis about time thou decided to evolve."
BurningGreymon roared and dove at the winged demon. ShadowSeraphimon caught the large dragon by one of the horns on his head and used it to throw him into a neighboring construction sight. He roared again, taking off from the rubble and streaking towards ShadowSeraphimon.
"Wildfire Tsunami!" The plates around BurningGreymon's armor split and flames spewed from the crevices. He tackled ShadowSeraphimon, engulfing them both in a fiery inferno.
ShadowSeraphimon struggled in BurningGreymon's grasp. He built up energy from his core and allowed it to flow through his body freely, aiming to strike Takuya. "Shadow Starburst!" The energy jolted from his body to Takuya's making the large dragon howl in pain.
He lashed his tail, catching the demonic doppelganger in the stomach and knocking him from the air. He crashed into the ground as Takuya landed on the street nearby, unable to stay airborne for much longer. Takuya caved one on knee, struggling to stand.
"Thou have proven thyself to be quite a nuisance." ShadowSeraphimon told the Beast of Flame and got to his feet. He smirked seeing Takuya's condition. "Tis a vain attempt to think thy Beast Spirit will be enough to stop me."
BurningGreymon snarled and struggled, using what little his strength he had left to lift himself back up to his feet. "I beat you before, I can do it again." He pointed the blasters on his arms at the fallen angel. "Pyro Barrage!"
ShadowSeraphimon held a hand out, creating a force to block the blazing bullets fired at him. "Hast thou forgotten? These pitiful attacks of thee have no affect on me."
Takuya heaved a heavy sigh and dropped his arms to his sides, unable to continue his rate of fire with the Pyro Barrage. BurningGreymon was powerful but he needed more. He needed Aldamon's strength. The power of the Fusion Warrior had to be enough to counter the fallen angel's own strength.
He shifted back to Flamon once more, feeling exhaustion setting in. He couldn't give up yet. He was too close. Takuya lifted his head.
"Accepting defeat?" ShadowSeraphimon jeered, looming over the small flame Digimon.
Takuya snorted, "You wish." Heat radiated off his body and data wrapped around him once more. ShadowSeraphimon took to the sky, sensing Takuya's next move.
The data dissipated and a blur of black, red, and orange shot at the fallen angel Digimon like a rocket. "Aldamon..." ShadowSeraphimon growled, recalling their last encounter, "So we meet again."
"For the last time," the blonde hybrid replied, glaring at his adversary.
"Do thy worst!" the demon challenged.
The Fusion Warrior smirked. "With pleasure." With that, the blasters on Aldamon's arms rotated and opened up, gathering energy into balls of fire between their twin prongs. "Atomic Inferno!"
The fallen angel crossed his hands and took the blast, unable to dodge it from such a close range. The fireballs pelted the pale armor and pushed him back with each blast.
"Not so easy now is it?" Aldamon asked, seeing that he was at least doing something against the evil Warrior.
"Strike of the Seven Dark Stars!" the fallen angle blasted, having subtly moved his hands into position to attack while Aldamon was distracted. The seven balls of dark energy clashed hard against the fireballs and exploded, sending a great cloud of smoke and dust throughout the area and blinding them.
Aldamon took a defensive stance, unable to see through the cloud, and tried to detect his enemy's presence. "Damn it. Not good…"
"Die!" ShadowSeraphimon dove at the Fusion Warrior, tackling him "Shadow Starburst!" Energy surged into Takuya's body forcing him to cry out in pain.
He kicked the demonic warrior away, trying to find a safe way to use his most devastating attack on him without taking out half the city. Takuya flew up into the sky above, hoping that ShadowSeraphimon would follow.
"What's a matter? Is the Warrior of Steel getting rusty?!" he called, baiting the dark angel. It worked as ShadowSeraphimon charged out of the cloud of smoke and into the air after Aldamon.
"Thou will regret thy childish words boy!" he snarled, "Strike of the Seven Dark Stars!"
The attack was easy enough to avoid, but ShadowSeraphimon's full on body slam was unexpected and painful. Takuya gasp as the wind was knocked from his chest and he recoiled, falling beneath the dark angel.
"Had enough whelp!?" ShadowSeraphimon half growled half taunted, growing tired of Takuya's persistence.
Takuya smirked, "Just enough!" He had a clear shot into the sky. He had to act now. Takuya held his hands close forming a small ball of flames. It grew in size and strength until it was almost too much for him to control. "Solar Wind Destroyer!"
ShadowSeraphimon gaped, finally understanding Takuya's plan. He wanted to get them into the sky, out in the open to attack with everything he had without any collateral damage. "No, this can't be…"
"I'm putting an end to this right here!" Aldamon roared and released the massive fireball towards the fallen angel.
ShadowSeraphimon held his hands out trying to push the colossal sphere of flames back as it slowly swallowed him whole. He screamed in agony as the flames burned, incinerating his wings and melting his armor.
Takuya watched as the Solar Wind Destroyer began to dissipate and the fallen angel plummeted to the ground. Just then, his wings gave out and Takuya fell right out of the sky.
The evil warrior lay there on the ground unable to move; a ring of data circling around his chest with six lights floating around it. "This… can't be… I was… to be king…"
Aldamon grunted and managed to land on his feet, albeit unsteadily. "And let you hurt more innocent people? No way in hell. It's over ShadowSeraphimon. For good this time." The Fusion of Flame responded and pulled out his D-Tector. The data floated to the scanner's screen and ShadowSeraphimon disappeared.
Takuya smiled weakly and looked down to the screen. "It's over…"
Takuya's smile widened. It was finally over. ShadowSeraphimon was gone. He took a deep breath and looked down to the D-Tector in his hand but felt something come over him. He swayed as his vision started to black out.
The D-Tector slipped from the warrior's hand as he was wrapped up in a cocoon of light.
The light faded and Takuya collapsed on the floor, having reverted back into his Flamon form when the light died away. His body was beaten and battered, and his breathing was labored. The poor boy layunconscious amongst the rubble.
"Over here sir!" Well armed people soon gathered around the fallen Digimon. They had their weapons trained on him should he wake and be hostile, like the other monsters.
One soldier knelt before him, "It's not dead general."
A tall balding man stepped forward, clearly the general the soldier had spoken to. "Take it. Confine it. Study it. I want to know what that abomination is and where it came from."
The soldiers nodded and lifted the light Digimon and threw him into a small cage in the back of an armored truck. They locked him up and drove away as quickly as they appeared.
