Author Note: Preview of a work in progress I start some time ago. I have an entire USB full of unfinished, half started ideas and stories that I began years ago. I drag it out and look over the things on it and see if anything jumps out when I get stuck on the main ideas I'm working on. As for this I cleaned it up, and added a few things. Basic plot synopsis is Rose comes back to put right what once went wrong.

Rose Granger-Weasley felt her molecules reintegrate. When she had stepped into the quantum accelerator chamber she hadn't been sure what would happen but it would have been better than the world she grew up in. She checked herself over to make sure everything had come through the way she had programmed the reintegration sequencer to do.

She was in her sixteen year old body, in the backyard of the Granger home in Crawley. She was naked which was going to have to be rectified but fortunately no one would be home right at the moment. They were at Kings Crossing Station to meet the Hogwarts express on its way back after the horrible fourth year and the tri-wizard tournament.

Entering the house she made her way stealthily to her mother's room. At this point a svelte sixteen year old girl herself. Looking in the mirror she smiled in relief at her good looks. She was not overly vain but being 132 years old she did have to admit she liked the current reflection in the mirror a lot better than the one she had seen in the mirror just this morning.

Borrowing a set of clothes from her mother she set out to acquire some more local funds. A few visits to several banks with some strategically placed confundus charms and she had a sizable stack of muggle money. She was glad that she was able to use wandless magic, not only did it make it easier to use the jedi mind trick like her uncle used to say but that the trace would not detect her. Most magicals had to use a wand to enhance their control over magic so the Ministry made it a requirement to put into each wand tracking charms.

Going to Diagon Alley she entered Gringotts and introduced herself as Rose Henderson. Establishing an identity and a vault she left to do some shopping. She also took a room at the Leaky Cauldron to have a base of operations and place to think. She was not going to try and plan anything as her uncle had always said plans never work out the way you thought they would, ever.

She did have goals though. She had memorized everything her uncle and her mother had told her about their lives growing up. She had read every book written about this era. So she knew when certain things would happen and she needed to prevent them. First she needed to keep her Uncle Harry safe and out of the Ministry this summer. That meant keeping an eye out for the Dementors.

She could and would do nothing about Dumbledore. Aside from trying to stay out of his way there was nothing she really could do to him at this point. He was too powerful politically and too skilled with the Elder Wand for her to bring him down. That brought her thinking back to the fact she needed a wand of her own. She was skilled with wandless but here and now as a sixteen year old girl she would need a wand to blend in.

Her third task would be to train and help her uncle and her mother so they would be able to fight better and save lives. She also had her primary goal of keeping her mother from marrying Ronald Weasley. She knew some of these conflicted slightly but she would have to figure out a way to make it all work.

Visiting Olivander's he had dropped a great many hints he knew who she really was but otherwise said and did nothing. She had always suspected he was neutral in the war, selling what amounted to arms to both sides and raking in the gold. She took her wand and left.

She stopped for some lunch and to think about how to make sure her mother did not get with her father. That was something she had decided was going to be one of her goals after watching the fire go out of her mother year by year when they were growing up. Her reformer zeal and spirit of rebellion had been slowly destroyed, all because her father was a lazy self-centered boar.

The final straw had broken the year she had been ready to graduate. Her uncle had had to arrest her father for violating the statute of secrecy and assault on a muggle. He had been driving their family car and gotten into a collision with another car after he had been drinking and speeding. Instead of taking responsibility for his actions her father had used a confundus and obliviate to try and get out of the ticket the officer gave on the scene but the speed camera was separate from the officer on the scene.

When the investigation showed that Ronald Weasley had a history of using confundus or obliviates in his dealings with muggles the scandal it caused ruined her mother's political career. She had to resign in disgrace from the Ministry. The divorce caused the Weasleys to shun her and when her uncle had taken her side they called that the final betrayal. Ginny had left Harry and their divorce was far from amicable. Lily and Albus had taken their father's side but Sirius had walked away from both of them. Teddy had washed his hands of all of them and moved to France with his wife Victoire.

Her mother had simply stopped trying at that point. She had faded from the public view and while her and Harry had remained friends she did not remarry. She had felt too guilty she said for not making her marriage work, for not making things with Ron work. Her uncle Harry had eventually wound up with Luna Scamander when her husband Rolf had been killed on an expedition. Hermione though simply faded until one morning she did not get up.

So Rose swore to prevent that from happening. Her mother deserved better. The paradox equations showed this course of action had a only 1% chance of wiping the entire universe out of existence which was acceptable as well as only a further 5% chance of activating the grandfather paradox as she had reintegrated herself into this timeline. If all went well the other one would collapse and this one would simply replace it.

She looked at the clock and smiled. She had a few hours before the Hogwart's Express would arrive. The Dursleys should be out of Privet Drive so she would go scope the situation out.

===xxx

Arriving on Privet Drive she walked along the block. Disgusted by how boring and identical each house looked she almost missed #4. The only way she didn't was the extra wards and magics covering the house.

She started picking through the web covering the house, nullifying some of the more useless ones, reinforcing useful ones. Redirecting the detection spells away from the house so that magic could be cast within the house. She was going to need that one. When she had the outside finished she moved inside, checking the clock to make sure she still had time. Repeating the same process she had used outside she soon had the house a small island of safety within which magic could be performed without the outside world knowing.

She banished the door off of the cupboard under the stairs. She had managed to convince her uncle to talk to her about his childhood just before he died. So she looked at this cupboard and its now emptiness. She saw the sad stick figures scratched into the wall and almost cried. Pulling herself together she cleaned the room up. Painting it and cleaning it. She did not replace the door.

Moving upstairs she saw which room was her uncle's. She replaced the door with a nice solid wooden one. A brass doorknob that was rune warded to only allow a magical inside the room replaced the one with the locks on the outside. The door was also warded to prevent any drilling or attempt to mar it by muggle means.

Entering the room she looked at the broken furniture and shook her head. Multiple spells later and it was clean with comfortable furniture that was in Gryffindor red and gold. She smiled and left a note telling Harry that he had a friend and she would be checking up on him soon. She hoped he enjoyed the gifts and would explain everything when she saw him again. She left it on the writing desk by the window and left.

She apparated back to Diagon Alley and had some dinner. She would visit harry tomorrow. She knew she would have to visit her mother tonight as Dumbledore would begin to try and convince her to go into hiding at Grimmould Place soon. That would set her on a path to eventually erasing her parents memories which caused them to be estranged for the rest of their lives. She had gone to rescue them but they felt so betrayed and angry at her actions that they could never forgive her or magic ever again.

===xxx

She made it back to Kings Crossing in time. She knew the Hogwarts Express had just arrived and she would be able to sneak into the car to ride with the Grangers to whichever restaurant they were going to have dinner at.

She knew her grandfather had loved Range Rovers unfortunately there were four of them in the parking lot. So she made her way into the station. Walking into the lounge she began to see teens and other students coming the other direction. She knew she had to hurry and there they were the Weasleys and Harry and Hermione walking into the lounge. Harry looking shell shocked and numb. Barely registering the kiss on the cheek from Hermione. He marched off with the Dursleys like a condemned man to the gallows.

She shook her head and followed the Grangers back out to the car park. They had reached a Green Range Rover when she walked up.

"Hello Dan, Emma, Hermione. How are you tonight?" She called out. She had been wondering how she would make contact with them and chose the simplistic approach of walking right up.

Hermione spun and almost drew her wand but stopped herself in time. Rose smiled and held her bare left arm up. "I come in peace. Klaatu Barada Nikto."

Dan laughed, "Well, hello. Anyone who starts a conversation like that can't be all bad."

"Thank you sir. I hope you don't mind the intrusion but it is absolutely essential that I talk to the three of you tonight." Rose said.

Hermione frowned, "I'm sorry I don't know you."

"That's because I haven't been born yet. I traveled back in time to change history."

Hermione scoffed while Dan chuckled. Emma asked, "Okay so where's your Tardis?"

"I did not use one. I used a sub-etheric axial flow quantum accelerator to convert my magical core into an energy pattern that was accelerated in the negative Z axis along the temporal pathways resulting in my reintegration in this temporal frame of reference. Destroying all connections to the future. As a matter of fact no matter what I've already altered things so much that there is no going back. Fortunately by integrating my physical and temporal matrix into this frame of reference I side-stepped paradox. Specifically the Grandfather paradox."

Dan blinked several times working that out. "Okay so you basically beamed yourself backwards in time? And somehow managed to side step paradox."

"Essentially sir."

Hermione scowled, "And why would you do that?"
"To save the world." Rose bluntly stated.

"Okay who are you and what kind of game is this? I am getting really tired of this. Did Fred or George put you up to this?" Hermione huffed.

"Look this is not something we should be standing in the middle of a car park discussing. Unless you want to get the aurors or obliviators to show up." Rose pointed out with her arms crossed.

"You know pumpkin the strange girl may be correct. We should probably get going if we're going to make the reservation at Caproni's." Daniel suggested looking around the car park in concern.

Rose looked at the doubtful Hermione. "Your guard was lowered. You had very poor situational awareness. If I was a Death Eater I could have taken you out in a heartbeat. Seriously mother if you are going to help Uncle Harry defeat the dark lord you'll need to get a lot better."
Hermione's doubtful expression changed to confusion and suspicion. "Mother?" She asked skeptically.

Walking around to the passenger side of the car she smiled, "I'll explain over some chicken Alfredo and cannoli."

Dan and Emma looked at each other and shrugging let the girl into the car. Hermione took a moment longer but entered with them.

"Okay we have got a bit of a drive to get there so you've got time to talk." Hermione demanded once the car was moving.

"Okay. I am Rose Granger-Weasley. I come from the year 2132 and I came back to put right a great deal that went wrong."

"WEASLEY? Your father is one of the Weasleys?" Hermione exclaimed. "Which one?"

"That filthy lazy loser piece of crap Ronald." She spat.

Hermione frowned, "Ron's not that bad."

"Really? He's a casual bigot. He threw harry away claiming he cheated to get into the tournament then came back and acted like he did nothing wrong. Not to mention the jealousy. The laziness of him expecting you to do his homework ALL of the time. His distracting Harry from doing his homework. And that's just the stuff he did while in school. You don't want me to tell you about after the two of you got married. I was really glad when you got divorced and so was Hugo."

"Hugo?" Dan asked.

"My younger brother. Dad always wanted more kids and kept pushing for mum to have more. You about killed him the one time he replaced your prophylactic potion with a placebo."

Hermione snorted. "Assuming this is all real. This is sounding more and more like a bad Twins joke."

Rose scowled, "You have a birthmark on your left hip. When you held onto Harry's waist riding Buckbeak you felt like your heart was going to explode out of your chest. You briefly flirted with the idea to 'accidentally' cop a feel of his equipment. Albus too many names Dumbledore just asked you and Ron to NOT contact Harry or give him any information this summer. A summer after he just spent the worst year of his life, so far. The tri-wizard tournament almost killed him. Voldemort almost killed him in the cemetery. Plus you winding up at the bottom of the stupid lake because you wanted to go to the ball with a sports star almost killed him. He was worried sick about you and refused to leave until he knew you would be safe. You can be such a teenager, mother." Rose crossed her arms. Hermione stared at her open mouthed.

"Uh just how old are you?" Emma asked worriedly.

"I am 132 years old. This body is technically a construct from quantum particles local to this time frame based on the pattern of my sixteen year old self." Rose explained.

"And you know everything that is going to happen?" Dan asked.

"Mostly. I talked to mother, uncle Harry, aunt Luna and as many others as I could. Since I refused to take dad's side in the divorce I was shunned by the Weasleys." Rose sadly stated.

"So you know the Irish Lottery numbers for next month?" Dan joked.

"Sorry I didn't exactly pay attention to those." Rose said with a wry shrug.

"Oh well, worth a try."

===xxx===xx

Hermione kept trying to come up with magical or scientific reasons for time travel not to work which Rose refuted. She tried to explain the math but as some of it involved dividing by zero and using transcendental higher arithmetical functions the Grangers were soon lost and even Hermione was struggling to keep up.

"Okay Rose. We are almost at the restaurant. Could we please just stop with the Gallifreyan talk there. In public we use code words." Dan asked politely.

"Oh right. You still have the secrecy act." Rose said.

"It goes away in the future?" Hermione asked in excitement.

"Yes. In the year 2096 mundanes develop a quantum field sensor to detect new military weapons and discover the pocket dimensions of unplottable areas. It was a real shock when military helicopters landed in Hogsmeade." She gave an amused snort.

"I can imagine." Hermione said.

"Yes. The reintegration was mostly peaceful. Some of the old guard on both sides held out for a bit, and there was some ugliness which is still being ironed out but it was mostly peaceful." Rose reminisced. "But that is not why I am here."

"Right you said you wanted to save the world." Daniel said with a nervous chuckle. "Only let's not talk about that until we get back to the house okay?"

"Of course. I understand. I hope to get to know the both of you. I never did when I was younger." Rose said sadly.

"I sincerely hope all of this makes sense someday." Emma said.

"I know grandmother. I'll try to do my best." Rose said with a sympathetic smile.

They pulled up to the restaurant causing Rose to smile. "I always loved it when uncle Harry would bring us here. He has a partial share in this that Dumbledore never told him about."

"Why would he do that?" Hermione frowned.

"There are a lot of things Albus Dumbledore did that were not quite proper. I can tell you more later. Right now I want some Fettuccine and Alfredo Chicken. Plus they have some excellent Canolis." Rose enthusiastically said when they got out.

Dinner was slightly awkward but they managed it. Hermione kept trying to deflect from the events of the last year while Rose kept telling her parents about the various things that had gone on, or at least as much as she could in public. Dan and Emma looked from one girl to the other in confusion and concern multiple times. Eventually the conversation moved to non-magical events and safer topics.

Once dinner was over they moved back to the Range Rover and begun the drive back. Hermione was scowling.

"What's wrong mother?" Rose asked.

"Stop calling me that. This is all just insane." Hermione huffed.

"Well sorry but they deserve to know the truth. I never got to know my grandparents after what you did to them." Rose sniped back.

"What I did to them? I haven't done anything to them." Hermione shouted.

"OKAY. That's enough you two. We do not shout, we talk calmly. Understand?" Emma ordered calmly yet firmly.

Both teen girls nodded, "Yes ma'am."

"Alright. Now Rose. Aside from Hermione's birthmark is there anything else you can do to prove you are who you claim you are?"
"Well I could get a goblin heritage test. They show the family lineage. Or get someone to cast the Familia Paternas which tells who the father of the subject is." Rose said. "Unfortunately the temporal travel process doesn't allow anything physical to be brought with me."

"Oh how convenient." Hermione huffed crossing her arms

"Well sorry. I did not think you would be this pig headed and blindly obedient to Dumbledore." Rose sneered.

"I am not blindly obedient."
"So you're not going to write to Harry. After the trauma he has been through. You'll just let him suffer?"

"Its for his own good." Hermione declared stridently. Although she bit her lip slightly.

"No its all for Dumbledore's own good. NOTHING about Harry's" Rose shouted back.

"GIRLS. I swear if you get into a yelling match one more time we are stopping this car." Emma raised her voice over the two of them.

"Mum you're not actually believing this are you?"

"I do not know what I am believing. I do know that your father and I love you but have noticed you are not acting the same. You come back each year a little more distant, a little more of you feels likes its lost. We get these empty vague letters saying you are doing fine but that you can't really tell us about what's going on in your world. We feel like you're going to go away and never come back someday." Emma described sadly.

When Hermione said nothing Rose said, "Well its actually the two of you she sends away in the summer of 1997. But after that you never have contact with her again."

Hermione snorted in derision. "Like I would do that."
Rose ignored her, "Muggle-borns are pushed to choose which world to live in during this era. It is highly discouraged for them to choose the muggle world or to maintain relationships with their muggle friends and family."

"That is disgusting. How horrible." Dan and Emma said. Hermione looked guiltily at Rose but said nothing.

"I chose this point in time because it is the most effective leverage point to achieve my goals. If I had gone back further it would have not only increased the chance of failure, it would have actually increased the chance of destroying the universe. If I had not come back this far not all of my goals could have been achieved." Rose explained.

Daniel made a humming noise briefly before asking, "And what are those goals?"

"First prevent mother and Ronald Weasley from marrying, by any means required. Up to and including killing Ronald Weasley." She stated calmly and without emotion.

Hermione frowned as she looked at Rose. She started to say something but Rose pointed her finger at her in warning. Hermione narrowed her eyes but did not say anything else.

"Second assist Harry Potter in defeating the dark lord Voldemort, also known as the wizard Tom Marvolo Riddle. Hopefully quick enough to prevent the civil war that occurs otherwise that killed a great many magicals and mundanes. And finally help clean up the various Death Eaters and their allies that have infected the wizarding world."

Hermione huffed, "I'm surprised you didn't say you were going to try and fix Harry and I up."
Rose shrugged, "While that would be nice Aunt Luna would be a good pair for him as well. She was a very nice and fun person. It will depend on your decisions as to if I will help you develop a relationship with him."

Hermione's scowl deepened and she was about to say something when her dad asked, "Death Eaters? Who exactly are they?"

Rose said quickly, "They are the terrorist followers of Lord Voldemort. They feel that muggles are animals and should be enslaved at best or killed outright. They count muggle-borns like Hermione as perversions of reality and seek to destroy all of them."

"I was trying to keep mum and dad from worrying too much about things they can't do anything about." Hermione firmly stated

"So you've known about them?" Emma said.

"Well somewhat." Hermione evaded.

"Rose you and Hermione are going to sit down when we get home and tell us EVERYTHING about what is going on in the magical world. We will determine if we will be scared or not."

"Mum I have to get ready to go on a special project for the school. I don't have time to rehash the last four years." Hermione said.

"No she doesn't. Dumbledore wants to imprison her and her friends in a hidden house in London so that the Order of the Phoenix can hide from Voldemort."

"That's not true!" Hermione said.

Daniel accelerated the Range Rover, and cutting off traffic, took an exit they normally did not take. He slowed down once they were on that route in the flow of traffic. When Emma looked at him with an understanding nod he smiled back grimly.

"Dad this isn't the route home." Hermione noticed.
"You're right. We're going to France." He said.

"What?" Hermione exclaimed.

"I've made the decision that you are not going to go on any special school project. You are not going to lie to us any more. You are going to go to France with us right now. You are our daughter and you need to realize it. Unless you want me to stop the car and let you out so you can go run off to your precious Dumbledore." He did not sound entirely angry but he was close. "And if they have a problem with it too bad. So this is it. Us or them. This is the point of no return."

Hermione looked like she had been slapped by a haddock as she fought back tears. Hermione closed her mouth and looked furiously at Rose who composed herself into a mask of calmness. Daniel kept driving now heading southeast, away from London, away from their home.

Hermione leaned back in her seat to stare out the window as the miles continued to flow by. She said nothing as she fought back the guilt that threatened to overwhelm her.

They had reached Dover and was getting ready to go to the newly opened Chunnel train when Hermione said, "I'm sorry. I thought I was doing the right thing. Rose is right. Professor Dumbledore wanted me to go into hiding because he was afraid the Death Eaters and Voldemort would come after me."

"After you? So he was going to protect you. Not meaning to sound ungrateful but what about us?" Daniel asked.

"I'm not sure. I didn't ask. I thought he was going to do something to protect you." Hermione said weakly. She seemed to be realizing that she was not as aware of everything as she thought she had been.
"No he didn't. He and the Order did nothing to protect any muggles, not even the muggle government." Rose explained. "Aside from a token effort that is. A pretty weak one at that."

"Okay. We'll get a hotel room here. Rose and you will explain Everything, and I do mean Everything that is going on and we will deal with it from there. Understand?" Daniel said.

"Yes dad." Hermione said.

Rose managed to keep the triumph off of her face. She might not have stopped her mother making the chain of mistakes yet, but she had at least started the process to prevent her doing so.

The Dursleys had arrived back to their house. Harry dragging his things out of the car.

"Now don't forget those abnormalities will be locked into the cupboard as soon as we are in the house." Vernon growled

"Yes Uncle." Harry hissed back as sarcastically as he could.

Entering the house Harry felt the change in the wards and magical energy of the house. Vernon had already stomped ahead and was staring at the cupboard with his mouth agape. His face turned purple as he turned to Harry. Dudley's voice from upstairs was the only thing that saved Harry from a pounding he was certain.

Vernon turned, "What Dudders?"

"Come look at Harry's door!" He called excitedly.

Vernon turned and marched upstairs followed by a curious Harry. He had spared a look at the cupboard and noticed it was doorless and much cleaner.

They stood outside Harry's door with Vernon growling and drooling slightly. "WHAT IS THIS?" He bellowed.

Harry looked at it then back at his uncle, "It looks like a door."

"You watch your attitude you freak. How did you do that?"

"I didn't do that. I was with you all evening." Harry pointed out.

"I know you did some of your mumbo jumbo stuff. Now put that back."

"You know I can't do magic outside school." Harry said calmly. He had faced Voldemort his uncle was not as big a deal by comparison.

"JUST. PUT. THE. DOOR. BACK. TO. NORMAL." Vernon slowly said. A vein in his forehead began to pulsate.

"I can't. I don't know how it happened." Harry explained.

Vernon grabbed him by the shirt and lifted Harry off the ground by shoving him against the wall. For his bulk his uncle could move rather quickly.

"I will have no funny business while you are here. Understand me. Now get in there and stay quiet. You want to have a nice pretty door. I'll deal with it later." Vernon threatened, "Or I'll deal with you."

Harry entered his bedroom, noticing the strange tingle and slight pinch on his finger when he opened the door. He slammed it shut in a brief act of rebellion before freezing as he looked around at the transformed room. Touching everything to make sure it was real he found the note on his desk. He read it twice and looked around. He grinned as he wondered who his new friend was and how things were going to go from here.

The next morning Rose woke up. She had spent until the middle of the night explaining to the Grangers what was going to happen if they let Hermione go hide in Grimmould Place. If she continued on the path she was going and how horrible her life would be. By the time she had returned to the leaky Cauldron the Grangers had decided on a course of action and Hermione was tearfully apologizing to her parents causing them to hug and hold her.

This meant Harry would be her sole project for today. She stopped by Macduff's and bought a pair of Loch Laddies Breakfast Meals before going to Privet Drive. She remembered how this was her uncles one favorite vice.

Landing outside she double checked the wards and saw her modifications were still active and unbothered. More proof in her mind that the old man had no desire to truly see to Harry's safety. She walked up and opened the door entering unannounced.

Vernon saw a tall reddish brown haired girl walk through his locked back door. "Here now who are." Was all he got before he felt his throat constrict as the girl scowled at him. Choking he sat back down and the constriction eased.

Harry was frying their food and stopped. She was cute and obviously a magical. She also had two Macduff's bags with her.

"Hello Harry. You can put the spatula down. I brought you and I breakfast."

"Uh Hi. Do I know you?" Harry asked in confusion.

"No not yet. But we can get to know each other over breakfast."
"Look here now. Whomever you are. You can't just." Vernon had tried to begin again and felt his throat start to constrict again.

Petunia stood up and carefully moved to the stove, "Go ahead and go with your little friend. I'll take over for us." She was watching Rose carefully like she expected her to turn them all into frogs or something. The several encounters with the magical universe had made Petunia at least more willing to not press things with them.

Harry shrugged and followed the girl who paused at the kitchen cupboard and unlocked it, "Might as well take your things up to your room."

Harry nodded as they relocated to his room. She did laugh when she saw the cupboard under the stairs had the things from the kitchen cupboard in it.

===xxx

Taking the breakfast sacks from her he began to lay the food out as she took her shoes off to sit on the opposite end of the bed.

Once they began eating he studied her, "Who are you?"

"My name is Rose. Beyond that things get a bit complicated." She smiled. Complicated might be the biggest understatement ever.

Harry nodded, "Oh. So you did all of this?" He said gesturing around the room.

"Yes I did. You deserved a lot better than that horrible squalor you were living in." she said with a shudder.

"Oh well thank you." Harry said politely.

She looked at the way he was looking at her. A sort of slightly goofy bashful grin was on his face. She realized he was a very cute boy and she was sitting on his bed talking to him. She wondered if she should make a play for him herself. While she called him uncle it was only because he had married her aunt and not by blood. And physically at least she was only a year older no different than the age her mother was right now.

"Sorry. I was thinking. You're welcome." She said.

"Uh. What were you thinking?" He asked biting into the sandwich she had brought.

"That you are a very cute guy." She decided to at least have a little bit of fun.

Harry almost choked but managed to clear his airways, although Rose had moved to beside him in case she had to give him the Heimlich.

"Are you okay?" She asked.

"Uh yeah. You just took me by surprise there." He stammered between coughs.

"Sorry." She said with a laugh.

"Uh so. Why did you do all of this?" He asked carefully eating his sandwich again.

"Because you deserve to have nice things Harry. You've had a very bad life until now." She said kindly. Moving back to the other end of the bed to give him some space to breathe.

"Oh. I suppose." He said uncertainly, "Its what it is."

"True, but it could be better don't you think?" she asked watching him carefully.

He took a deep breath before saying, "I know. But there are some good points."

"Oh like what?" she was curious to see his perspective now. She had talked to him in the future and his memory of things might have changed since now.

He seemed to think for a moment then said, "Well my friends. I get to fly at Hogwarts. Hedwig." He said referring to the owl that was watching them eat so he took some of the bacon off his sandwich and tossed it for her to enjoy.

"That's not really a lot is it?" she asked.

"Its enough." he said with a shrug.

"So any special girl get your attention?" she asked with a soft smile.

He blushed but shook his head, "Not really. I haven't thought about it. And right now I don't exactly feel very interested in all of that." He frowned as he wadded the wrapper for his meal up and threw it into the garbage can. His body language though told Rose that he was lying. Especially the blush when she asked about a specific girl.

"Oh I'm sorry. I forgot about what happened after the tournament. Cedric getting killed by Voldemort." She said gently. She was lying but she was not sure telling Harry the whole truth right now would be a good idea. "That would make a person rather down."
He looked at her, "You believe me?"
"Yes I do. You have utterly no reason to lie about this." She stated flatly.

"No I don't." Harry was happily surprised by her statement. "Thank you. I was worried that no one would believe me."
"Oh a great many people do believe you, its just not in their best interest to show it." She explained.

Harry sighed, "Well that's wonderful."
She realized he was tired and depressed. She floated her meal over to his desk. When she turned back he was frowning at her.

"Don't worry. One of the upgrades I made to this place is that any magic used inside these walls is undetectable by the Ministry." She explained with a smile.

"Really?" He asked in shock.
She nodded, "Well you'll need a place to practice magic. So I modified the wards over this place to help you out."
Harry grinned, "Wow. Uh thanks."

"No problem. What are friends for?" she said with a grin of her own. Her mother would have to make a decision soon as she was certainly starting to develop an attraction to this young, vibrant Harry Potter.

"So. Uh can you stay? Maybe work with me on a few spells I need to practice?" he asked hopefully.

She smiled, "I can stay until lunch then I have to go do some things. Check on someone else. So what do you want to start with?"

Harry smiled as he pulled his school book out. Putting it in his lap very carefully.

===xxx

Rose was eating lunch in her room at the Leaky Cauldron smiling. She had spent the morning trying not to push her uncle Harry into the bed and have her entirely too wicked way with him. The hormones in this teenage body certainly worked just fine. She even doubt Harry would have resisted as his hormones seemed to be working just fine too, judging by the looks he was giving her and the fact he kept a pillow or his school books over his groin most of the time they were sitting on his bed talking.

She took a deep breath and focused on her lunch. She could not afford to be distracted right now. She focused on the note she was writing to Arthur Weasley. It was listing all of the Horcruxes, what they were, where they were, and how to destroy them. She was also warning him about Dumbledore's role in the rise of Voldemort, the history of Tom Riddle, and how Dumbledore had manipulated Harry's life. She also included a list of Death Eaters and their allies in the Ministry. She hoped he would accept and believe this. She signed it using the appropriate auror codes and Ministry sigils so that should help. Arthur was one of the few people around right now she would trust.

She finished her note and her lunch. She would stop by the Ministry and make sure this got delivered to Arthur himself. She would then go find out how things were going with her mother and her grandparents.

The Ministry was just as easy to break into and navigate as she had read about. The laughingly called guard at the door had not even asked why a teenage girl was wanting to see Arthur Weasley. She made sure it got to his desk and was placed where only he would find it.

Getting to an apparate point she cast the spell that would locate her mother and traveled there. They were still in the hotel. Knocking on the door she smiled when Daniel opened the door.

"Hello Daniel. How are things now?"
"Ahh Rose. We were just talking about you. Come in."

Hermione was sitting on the bed across from her mother. She looked at the girl with an apologetic expression.

Rose held her hand up, "Before you say anything mother I visited Harry this morning. He is doing well and I even managed tog et him to do some homework."

Hermione looked happily surprised, "Well congratulations. That's quite an achievement in itself."

"I know. One of uncle Harry's biggest regrets was that he didn't take school seriously when he was younger." Rose agreed settling onto the end of the bed.

"So now that things have calmed down I can see the family resemblance." Daniel said sitting by his wife on the other bed.

"Thank you. I tried to get my age as close to mother's as I could. So I would be able to interact with her and our friends at school." Rose admitted. "Speaking of. What are your plans now?"
"We wanted to talk things over with you. Hermione has agreed to refuse to go into hiding and we will trust you to help guide us."
Rose looked at Hermione who nodded her agreement. "Okay. Once we go off the historical track I will not be able to predict what happens. I only knew the past, not the future."
Hermione laughed as her dad looked confused, "She means that she studied what happened in her past. Which is our future."

"I'm a Whovian pumpkin. I understood that. I was just confused because I thought you had some sort of way to know what was going to happen."
"Sorry Grandpa. I have a plan, but its not based on anything beyond mathematical modeling and theory. I know where the Horcruxes are. I know what the plans of the bad guys were and their goals. I know where they are right now. But once we start changing things, like the three of you not turning up in Crawley, that's going to cause them to react and the future to change." Rose explained.

"She's definitely your daughter." Daniel said shaking his head, "Okay. So what should we do right now?"

"Go ahead and go to France. Stay just across the channel though. I'll help Hermione visit Harry as I can travel outside the boundaries of Ministry control. As long as you remain in the U.K. the Ministry can get to you as can Dumbledore. It'll be harder for them to operate in France." Rose explained.

"You are willing to take me to visit Harry?" Hermione asked uncertainly.

"Yes if you are willing to actually be his friend. That means being his friend." Rose said staring intensely into Hermione's eyes. Rose knew she could penetrate Her mother's mental barriers but wanted to give her a chance to decide on her own.

Hermione nodded after her mother and dad gave her reassuring nods. "I would like to be his friend." She said hopefully.

Rose smiled, "Good. I will stay with you until we get to a nice hotel in France, then take you to visit Harry this evening."
Daniel grinned, "Great. Although one thing Rose."

"Yes Grandpa?" She asked.

Daniel frowned slightly, "Okay two things. Never call me that again, and could you go by the house and at least pick up a few bags for us if we're going to be staying on vacation?"

Rose laughed, "Sure thing Daniel."

N0wa5t3r: Ahh thank you. The magic levels in the canon world are a bit on the moderate end of things in many ways. The Djinn as I wrote him would be more on the epic magic level of the scale, which is not canon but still fun to consider sometimes. Although to bring the Djinn back down into canon power levels there are a couple of other options. One is that this is all just a dream Draco is having as he lies in a catatonic state in Saint Mungo's from the Djinn messing with his brain. The other is that its all just a holodeck simulation that the Djinn put Draco into. I haven't decided if I want to go that dark or just have the Djinn's power level be a macguffin to move the story along. It is an Alternate Universe after all so not sticking within the boundaries of canon is not a bad thing. My notes from the time period say that it was just that powerful so may stick with that.

OfficerDonNZ: True this is going to be more like the Power of the Nargles level of Alternate Universe changes. So canon is out the window. I agree though that canon Arthur is a big goofball that would be as likely to become a DE as Mister Rogers would. He'd only go full bore berserker if someone hurt his family and as much as Molly is a smother she would be the same. Ron is definitely the black sheep in that family.
