Lexie had lived in Budapest for six months. She'd changed her number so Stuart couldn't contact her. She was finally starting to heal but it came at a price. She kept everyone at arms length. She rarely went out with the rest of team for drinks after work. Lexie mostly stayed at home learning new languages through Rosetta Stone. She was on a video session with Dr. Price.
"Have you been doing what we talked about? The doctor asked.
"No."
"Lexie isolating yourself from people isn't healthy."
"I go to work."
"Yes, but that's all you do." "You need to make friends."
"I have Kristen."
"Friends over there."
The next night the team had just gotten back to the office from solving a case.
"Let's go out." Jamie said.
"I'm in." Scott said.
"In." Andre said.
"Of course you are." "Your girlfriend works at the bar."
"In." Smitty said.
"Lexie, come on." Jamie said going over to her desk.
"Alright." She said reluctantly. "I'm in."
Lexie had fun drinking and playing darts and pool.
After a few hours she realized she and Scott were the only ones still there.
"Goodnight Scott."
"Goodnight Lexie."
Lexie went outside. It was very cold. Lexie saw that she had a flat tire.
Ten minutes later Scott came out and noticed Lexie sitting in her car. He knocked on the driver's side window. She put it down.
"Alright?" He asked.
"Yeah, I have a flat tire." "I'm waiting on a taxi."
"I can give you a ride."
"Are you sure?"
"Absolutely."
They were driving her to apartment.
"I'm surprised you agreed to come out with us." Scott said.
"Well, I wasn't going to, but I need to do other things besides work."
"Are you happy here?"
"Yeah."
"You just seem standoffish towards us."
"It's not you guys, it's me." "Back in New York I started dating my partner."
"Agent Scola?"
"Yes."
"I take it it didn't end well?"
"No." "He'd been previously involved with another agent." "She came back to the team and revealed that she'd given birth to his child." "I knew there were leftover feelings with them." "I suggested we put our relationship on hold, so they could see if there were feelings left." "He assured me there weren't." "Then a few weeks later he confessed he'd slept with her." "He apologized and apologized but I was done." "I got offered this job the next day, and I took it." "I know why he chose her."
"Why?"
"She can have children and I can't."
"I'm sure that's not the reason."
"It's up here on the left." He pulled up.
"I can relate in a way." "I used to date Jamie." "It's made our friendship stronger but at the time, it hurt when she left me."
"At least you guys are still friends." "Thanks."
"You're welcome."
"Goodnight."
"Goodnight."
She got out of the car and went inside.
