Jack Fenton was not a stealthy man. He never said he was, but he had to try to be subtle for what Jack had to find out.
Actually, getting into city hall was easily one of the night staff left a door propped open, so Jack didn't have to break down a door and to get around the building was easy Jack knew his way around city hall from when mayor Montez would consult him and Maddie about ghost security protocols and a few times when Jack tried to visit Vlad.
Though Vlad was always busy
Now Jack knew why
Or at least he had a theory.
Jack ducked against a wall; a janitor walked out of the office. Once the coast was clear, Jack walked into the office, heading towards Vlad's computer.
Turning it on, Jack inserted a flash drive downloading everything on Vlads hard drive.
Once the download was done, Jack took out the hard drive and left as quickly as he could, walking around the block where Maddie was waiting in the Fenton family ghost assault vehicle.
When buckled in, Maddie drove off, and they sat in silence until they got home, Jack holding the drive in his hand the whole way.
"Ready to find out the truth," Maddie asked seriously.
No, he wasn't, but Jack Fenton was a scientist. They didn't stop looking for the truth because he may not like the answer, and if there was even the slightest chance of saving his old friend from an evil ghost, he had to go through with it.
"Let's do this."
The next day, Jack and Maddie were so busy with the flash drive they didn't notice their children wondering what they were doing.
"Dad, what are you doing?" Jazz asked her father,
"Morning, Pumpkin! Your mom and I are doing some amazing work on the ghosts," Jack told his daughter.
"What kind of work?" Jazz asked.
"Just amazing work, nothing you should be concern about, honey," Maddie said.
"Okay... Then," Jazz said as she went outside.
Danny somewhat knew what his parents might be doing because of learning of Vlad being half-ghost. However, he hoped that his mom and dad could deal with Vlad independently without his help. So he decided to go to Nasty Burger to hang out with Sam and Tucker.
Nasty Burger
Danny was sitting across from Tucker alone in their usual booth at the Nasty Burger eating lunch. Sam wasn't with them ether she got the summer flu, or something came up.
"So you and Penny are out in the open now," Tucker said, taking a bite of his burger "think her dad is going to be like that phantom dude."
Danny shook his head. Oscar Proud, while overprotective of Penny and her dating but still was the farthest thing possible "the guys all bark and no bite not like Phanty's dad."
Danny didn't know what kind of guy was Phanty's perfect match, but whoever he was, Danny hoped he was tough enough to handle whatever that short-tempered creep in a trench coat.
Danny's phone rang before he could take a bite. Danny raised an eyebrow at the number before he answered it, "hi, Mrs. Manson."
Danny frowned, hearing Sam's grandma's worried question "no, I haven't seen Sam today. She's not at home yes, I'll call you if I see her"
Danny hung up the phone looking at Tucker. "Sam's not at home. Did she mention anything happening?"
Tucker shook his head "no, there's no big protest she mentioned and nothing at the Skulk and Lurk."
Danny was starting to get worried that a ghost might be involved in this, like Prince Aragon kidnapping Sam to be his bride again, or Walker tries to use her as live bait to catch him or some other ghost with an ax to grind with Sam.
Tucker pulled out his PDA to try and track their goth friend when he got an alert "Uh Dude. You need to see this."
Danny leaned over to look at the PDA and frowned at the news article playing 'this isn't possible,' Danny thought, horrified.
They're playing footage of Danny in Gotham, Metropolis, New York, Beverly Hills, and Tokyo on the screen. There was footage of Danny Phantom with an unconscious girl over his shoulder fireman style in every clip.
Girls that he recognized from last summer. Beside a girl with long blond hair and blue eyes which the Danny was carrying along side Lita.
Someone somehow not only was impersonating him but were abducting every girl that Danny was in contact with.
Including some girls that not just anyone could beat in a fight like Kara Musa and KATIE!
'How was this fake able to beat her? I don't know.
Oh no
Danny rushed out of the Nasty Burger, finding an alley he transformed, flying at top speed, Danny's phone rang. "Danny, are you okay," Tucker asked.
"All of the abducted girls that were kidnapped were girls I met last summer," Danny explained frantically "that means Penny is on that list. Listen, Tucker, could you go to Kim Possible Com?"
"What why," Tucker asked, "wait, you dated Kim Possible."
"Priorities, Tucker," Danny snapped, "go to her website warn her that she's in danger I'm going to warn the rest of the girls who will give me the benefit of the doubt."
Down below him, Danny saw a sign welcoming him to Arizona Danny was almost there.
Danny couldn't do anything for girls like Jen Violet or Wendy who didn't know his identity other than sending a warning to the cops that they were in danger.
"Do you think Sam was kidnapped too?" Tucker asked, sounding worried.
Danny had been thinking the same thing "I hope not, but one of the girls who was kidnapped is Katie Kaboom, and she shrugged off my ghostly wail like it was nothing."
And another one of them was SUPERGIRL, who definitely could beat him in a fight.
Danny was in California now, and he had to keep going. He was almost to Wizville.
'Hang on, Penny, I'm coming.'
