[I do not and never will own Fireman Sam]
Chapter 3: Fireman Sam Finds Out
As dawn began to break, Norman soon began to discover that Newtown was a very long way away.
"Awww... Newtown is still a long way away." he moaned. Then, he yawned. "I know," he said to himself, "I'll go find a quiet place to have a sleep in the forest." He climbed over a wall, and ran into the forest.
He made it to the campsite where the charred tents from The Great Fire of Pontypandy were.
"Good job Trevor never took these down." he said to himself.
He crawled into one of the tents, laid down, and fell fast asleep.
Meanwhile, back in Pontypandy, Steele, Sam, Penny, and Elvis were heading to the Fire Station to begin work. They had been worried about Steele ever since Norman had kicked him in the nose.
"I'm actually shocked that Norman did such a hurtful thing to you, Steele." Penny said to Steele, who had a bandage on his nose; Ironically, the same one from the episode 'No Nurse Like You'.
"It was painful for me too, Penny." Steele said, "But I'm still ready and able to read about the emergencies."
"Do you think Norman Price really will run away, Sam?" Elvis asked.
"No, I don't think he would, Elvis." Sam said. "He was just being silly. I'm sure he'll cool down about it soon enough."
Suddenly, Steele heard the fax machine go off. He ran into his office, followed by Penny, and got the letter from the fax machine. He gasped when she read the letter on it, and so did Penny. "Oh, no!" Penny said aloud.
She ran outside, looking very worried. "What's wrong, Penny?" Sam asked.
"Norman Price has ran away from home!" said Penny.
"WHAT?!" Sam & Elvis said at the same time, both horrified.
Sometime later, everyone in Pontypandy had heard that Norman Price had ran away, and they had all gathered at Dilys' shop.
Fireman Sam was reading the letter Dilys had found. "Oh, no!" Sam said, gobsmacked. "Norman Price did run away!"
"How could Norman DO such a thing?!" Penny said, just as gobsmacked as Sam was.
Dilys was sobbing, and drying her eyes with tissues. "Oh, my poor little Norman!" Dilys cried. "Out there, all alone, no food, nowhere nice to sleep..." She blew her nose on another tissue and threw it onto a pile of soggy tissues on the floor next to the counter. "Oh, if only I hadn't been so horrid to him!" she sobbed. "Even when he kicked Station Officer Steele in the nose!"
"He kicked Station Officer Steele in the nose?!" Mandy exclaimed, shocked, and angry that Norman Price did such a shocking thing.
"Yes!" Dilys said tearfully. "I saw the whole thing!"
Everyone gasped.
"How low could Norman Price actually go?!" Charlie exclaimed.
"This is very serious." Fireman Sam stated. "We must go find him. I'll call Tom Thomas so he can use his helicopter to search for him." he dialled up Tom Thomas at the Mountain Rescue Centre. "Norman Price has ran away, Tom. Can you use your helicopter to find him?"
"Roger that, Sam!" Tom Thomas' voice rang from the phone.
"Right." Sam said. "Elvis, Penny, you go with me to find Norman in Jupiter. Trevor, you take Charlie, Sarah, James and Bronwyn to help out too."
"Roger that, Sam!" Elvis, Penny and Trevor said.
"I'll tell Mum and Dad to come help too, Fireman Sam." Mandy offered. "Just in case."
"I think that's a very good idea, Mandy." Fireman Sam suggested.
"I'll go too." Dilys said, coming down from upstairs with a bag packed with essentials.
"Uhh, I don't think that's a good idea..." Fireman Sam began uneasily.
"I don't care." Dilys said firmly. "My Norman's out there, and I'm coming with you to find him."
Fireman Sam knew this was extremely serious, but there was no other choice - he needed all-hands-on-deck to find Norman.
"Come on, then!" Fireman Sam said seriously, as he headed out the shop, followed by Dilys and the others. "No telling what mischief Norman Price will be getting up to in Newtown!"
They didn't know that Norman Price wasn't in Newtown - he was walking in the forest, after his nap. "So glad I finally took a nap." Norman said to himself. He walked through the charred forest, feeling pleased with himself.
"I don't know why I never thought of this before." he chuckled to himself. "Oh, Norman Stanley Price, you are so, so, clever."
It was then Norman heard some noises coming from the road. He hid in the bushes, not too far from the edge of the forest, and watched, as he saw Fireman Sam, Elvis and Penny in Jupiter, Trevor's Bus with Charlie, Bromwyn, Sarah, and James, and Mike Flood and Mandy Flood in Mike's van, followed by Helen Flood in her [repaired] ambulance.
Norman watched them drive past the forest. "I wonder where they're going." he said to himself.
He didn't know they were heading to Newtown to look for Norman... except that wasn't where Norman was.
Boy were they gonna be angry when they found out the truth!
