This chapter should have come out weeks ago, but both my main Beta and back up Beta both disappeared for two weeks. One huffed paint and the other wanted some 'me time.' (Insert joke here.) So I didn't know anyone I could trust who could help with this chapter to fix certain segments I wasn't happy with. They finally returned and helped out. Other than that, I'm stuck at home most of the time due to COVID. You would think that would give me more time to write, but it's so easy to get distracted. Friends want me to join them in online games.

Ship Names are still being saved!

Don Orbit: I debated long and hard to figure out how they should escape. Didn't want to do the cliché sick one, so I had some fun with it.

Batthan the Dark Knight: She is joining Adam to cut off his balls.

Fernandamichelleraya: Shoe's on the other foot. I know a lot of fanfics always have the girls be the ones to talk about guys, but we all know guys do it just as much.

BlueJack22: And it will be glorious.

SlothDGod: Maybe… Running gag with Neo perhaps? Look up the prehistoric sloth names and maybe that will help you.

Guest: Accelerator returns next chapter.

WriterAdam: Exactly.

KurobaraIto: Now that you mention it. Yeah. While Nora, Neo, and Last Order are their counterparts.

D. : What are you talking about? Touma grabbed her attention. They just need ship names.

Ahsoei: She has too with all the competition.

Inacio: Did they kiss? DID THEY KISS?! Yep.

Nine To One: Sienna and Touma have such chemistry.

Aminadab Brulle: Getting people in trouble in public is my goal.

TheB: The Bellabooty is a national treasure.

Kyugan: He does that. Pyrrha will protect him.

LL: Mercury is so much fun. Plus, if I give him more screen time, he gets character development too. Touma and females trying to hurt him is just a typical Tuesday. Aogami needs to see Blake and Touma together. He would cry tears of blood with jealousy. Heh, Touma is so popular, he just doesn't know it. Still has to dance with a couple girls at least.

DD soul: You should be ashamed of yourself and my laugh did not indicate amusement.

KnightOfZaku: Sadly, no. They will have to save that for later.

AMTT94: They appear. I still have to have them go through their character development.

Mr. X: 1) Comment? No. Eyes wandering? Yes. 2) I saw it, but not yet. 3) Couple chapters. Got some other stuff planned. Already know who gets what team. 4) Yes… I 'forgot.'

TechnicalJoker: Weiss right now.

Takei Daloui: Part of the fun of fanfictions is weird pairings. I love writing Mercury and Neo. Since they don't get a lot of screen time in the story, they have a lot of character development available to them. Just got to flush it out. Neo might do that. It wouldn't embarrass her.

Andrew MacKenzie, Wade Daron, Trjz: Thanks.

BURRITO LOVER: More index characters won't appear for a while. Several main events have to play out.

Not A Criminal: If the door is see through, your plan fails.

Legoupman: Eh, he doesn't have automatic reflection all the time now, so if he doesn't notice it, he can get hit.

Follower: Couple chapters until that big confrontation.

Cbustroyer: 1) Some can. Others do even weirder things. 2) Yeah, but she might have to learn some history about the world. 3) It's about 20% done. 4) None at the moment. 5) I'm alive. 6) Nah. Level 5s can do a lot more than maidens. Maidens just have a variety of elements at their disposal.

Eddie Simon: I try to update.

Disclaimer: I do not own Toaru Majutsu no Index or RWBY.

As the Beacon students fled the base, a blood-chilling roar followed closely behind, turning the already green-faced Jaune a shade lighter.

"D-Did you hear that?" Jaune asked, from his position in the back of the Bullhead.

Blake's ears twitched as she pulled off her mask, being the only one present who didn't need to strain her ears to hear the cries of a thousand curses being thrown their way.

"Oh, I can more than hear it..." Touma moaned tiredly, as the cry solidifying his future misfortunes grew farther in the distance. "I can feel it."

"Sounds like you got yourself a new admirer, eh? She's already missing you so much she's got you on her lips. Loud and clear." Mercury teased with a signature grin, nudging Touma in the side with his elbow.

"Shut it! I can already feel the death flags stabbing through me. Not to mention Sienna's not one to let go of a grudge easily."

"So, you actually met Sienna Khan?" Blake asked. "Was she the one who ordered your kidnapping?"

"Kind of?" Jaune chimed in, hoping conversation might soothe his churning stomach. "Let's just say some hot-blooded recruits wanted to gain favor with he- hurp- I'm good, I'm good. I'll shut my mouth for now." He returned to his corner, fighting the burning sensation in his gullet.

"Anyway, before that." Touma stared at the others. "How the hell did you all find us? Actually, scratch that. How did you even know about this?" He turned to Mercury. "Did you contact them?"

"Nope." Mercury shook his head and leaned against the wall of the Bullhead. His arms were crossed and he looked pleased with himself. "After you two got captured, I followed. Wasn't able to get close enough to the first Bullhead they dragged you on, but I knocked out a straggler, stole his clothes, and snuck aboard a second."

"Couldn't you have contacted the police or something?" Jaune asked weakly.

"Yeah… and you believe they'd arrive in time?"

"Good point." Jaune looked away in embarrassment and then closed his eyes to keep himself calm. "Didn't mean you had to put yourself at risk. You had no idea what was going on."

"Pretty sure I wasn't thinking straight after the last few shots we had."

The guys all shared a moment of unity. Touma had been plastered, Jaune had been wasted, and Mercury had been buzzed, though naturally, he had to play it up more. Blake raised an eyebrow, unimpressed and mildly annoyed. She peered over at Neo, who was piloting the ship.

Wearing a tight-fitting white pilot suit adorned with an aviation cap, courtesy of her Semblance.

"Okay, fine, that explains Mercury, but how did you two find out?" Touma asked, looking at Blake.

"I couldn't sleep and was on the roof enjoying the night air when I saw Neo sneaking out of Beacon." Blake lied through her teeth while keeping her face passive. She was hesitant to reveal to Touma that her team still didn't trust Neo and that she had been watching Neo's room since they heard Touma and Jaune hadn't returned that night. "I intercepted her and she told me she was going after you."

Touma facepalmed, turning to the heterochromatic girl in question.

"Neo?"

That one word, full of exasperation, was all it took to get his message across. Somehow, part of him knew she would find out about this. How exactly? That he didn't know, but she was certainly going to. Her being here was proof. There was no way he was going to find out though. Everyone knew Neo wouldn't give a straight answer. She would just shrug and play it off. Or, that's what they all thought. No one expected her to give an actual answer.

Since she was flying the Bullhead, pink words formed in the air thanks to her Semblance.

The tracking chip I implanted in you warned me you were leaving Vale.

Everyone stared at those words in silence, processing them slowly.

"WHEN DID YOU PUT A CHIP IN ME?!"

While you slept, duh.

It took a moment for her sarcasm to sink in. Words were harder to convey the underlying meaning of when it was written in pink text. The only reason Touma could tell she was joking was the obvious smirk she wore. He could only see part of her face, but that was more than enough to see it crystal clear. A breath of exasperation escaped him as she slumped against the wall of the Bullhead.

"I need to stop falling for her stuff."

"She wouldn't tell me much either." Blake added in condolence.

Touma finally turned to Blake with his full attention and looked at her. He really looked at her, not just a passing glance that told him who she was. His eyes finally settled on her figure, or more noticeably the outfit that was hugging it. She had discarded the mask, but the jacket and pants she wore were definitely a size or two too small. Her midriff was showing, the cloth of her top being stretched tightly over her chest while the pants allowed her shapely legs to pop. Much like the seams of her pants. His eyes fell and rose impulsively as she turned to look at Jaune and Mercury, immediately feeling ashamed of his obvious ogling of a friend.

He was well aware it was wrong, but he couldn't stop his lower brain functions.

Blake wasn't oblivious to his gaze either.

Male gazes on her weren't unusual. It was something she, and many other Huntresses, were used to. For the most part, you just ignored them unless they tried to go beyond looking. She never really liked it, even if a small part of her was flattered. Boys judging girls by their appearance wasn't unusual and plenty of girls judge guys the same way. Blake couldn't say she hadn't admired an attractive guy now and then over the years. She just wanted someone who liked her for more than her looks. Still, if Touma wanted to glance at her figure, that wasn't too bad. Even if she really wanted to hide her slowly reddening face under the mask once more.

Mercury, on the other hand, was another story.

His slimy gaze was obvious. Blake quickly turned to glare at him, but he didn't even have the manners to pretend he wasn't looking. He just smirked at her and gave a small wave from his position of leaning against the wall. Neo was doing a pretty impressive job at keeping the ship level. They barely had any turbulence. After all the excitement, some peace was a welcome change of pace. Still, Blake refused to let Mercury continue his perverted stare after all the shit he said while they were infiltrating the White Fang hideout.

"You mind?" She hissed quietly.

"Not at all, quite the contrary." Mercury replied, refusing to even acknowledge his actions.

Why Touma and Jaune were friends with him, she had no idea.

Thud!

"OW!"

Blake spun around on the spot and saw one of Neo's white boots lying next to Touma, who had fallen on the ground. He was rubbing his slightly reddening nose and wincing. Turning to the owner of said boot revealed a less than pleased Neo glaring at him from the corner of her eye. At first, Blake couldn't figure out why Neo had done that, until it sunk in.

She was jealous that Touma was staring at her.

Smirking slightly at Neo, which only made the colorful girl's eyes flash dangerously, Blake sat down next to Touma. He opened his eyes and noted her next to him, but didn't say anything. Nor did he try to scoot away.

"You okay?"

"Yeah. Just another bout of misfortune I don't completely understand." There were noticeable bags under his eyes and he looked exhausted. Jaune didn't look much better. Blake was a little more alert due to her training in the White Fang to operate on little sleep, but drowsiness would eventually overwhelm her too. Mercury and Neo were the only two who looked completely awake. If they wanted to know what happened, now was the time.

"Why did the White Fang kidnap you two?"

Touma and Jaune shared a brief look at Blake's question. Neo's ears twitched from her pilot spot and Mercury went quiet, not wanting to cause a distraction here. This information was needed, as even Cinder didn't know why they had made such an obvious move. If Touma and Jaune hadn't known, there wouldn't have been that awkward pause. Jaune's words even hinted at a greater significance than was revealed.

"They thought he was a dragon Faunus." Jaune laid it out, leaning back against the bullhead with closed eyes. He was finally reaching his breaking point. He only lasted this long due to adrenaline and Neo's smooth flying.

"You're a Faunus?' Mercury asked. "Huh, didn't see any traits so thought you were human." He shrugged. "Oh, well. Doesn't change anything." Blake's opinion of him went up ever so slightly. "So what's the big deal?"

"Faunus are supposed to have animal traits of real animals," Blake explained. "Dragons don't exist. So a dragon Faunus as Jaune put it, would be something unusual."

"I'm definitely human," Touma sighed, leaning back against the cool metal. He was tired with only a couple hours of drunken sleep, which is not nearly as restful as real sleep. "But that base was a training ground for White Fang recruits. Their leader, Sienna Khan, heard rumors I defeated one of their generals during our recent mission…" His eyes flickered toward Blake for a moment. He purposely left out some of the information that was private. "So with the dragon Faunus rumor…"

He spent a few minutes explaining how they were kidnapped because of some overzealous recruits and about how they were locked up and then interrogated by Sienna. Blake took note of how he mentioned Sienna was a hypocrite. It only reinstated her belief that leaving Adam and the White Fang was one of the best decisions she ever made.

"…then you three showed up," Touma finished up. "It was a good thing Neo found us when she did. We escaped our cell, but we were trapped in the base."

"Yeah, it's hard to just walk out of bases," Mercury laughed. "No thanks needed though. I just stole a Bullhead while Blake here sexed a couple guards to death."

Touma choked in shock, wide awake at that bold proclamation, while Blake leapt to her feet and in one smooth motion, her hand gripped Mercury's ear and twisted it.

"Would you like to rephrase that?" Blake asked coldly, twisting even harder. Her eyes were radiating cold fury.

"ARG!" Mercury cried out in pain as Neo silently cackled. "I give, you crazy-!"

"Crazy what?" Blake hissed, twisting his ear a little more.

"CrA-azy… nice girl?"

"That's what I thought."

Blake let him go and Mercury stumbled back, rubbing his ear and muttering angrily. There was some cursing too, thinking she couldn't hear him, but he forgot about her extra pair of ears. A quick glare from the girl shut him up before she sat back down by Touma. A smile graced his lips as he looked at Blake, glad she held her ground against Mercury's teasing. Her amber eyes were a little surprised at his reaction, but the corners of her mouth twitched.

"He deserved it." Touma assured her.

"Oh, I know he did. Next time, I'm throwing Neo's shoe at him."

"See if I help you all again!" Mercury huffed, crossing his arms and plopping down next to Jaune. However, noticing his green face, he quickly scurried backwards and decided sitting in the co-pilot seat was safer.

An airsick Jaune was less favorable than a small psychopathic ice cream girl.

Talking died down shortly after that. Jaune was trying to sleep to avoid remembering where he was and throwing up. Touma's eyes were dropping as he laid against the cool metal wall. Blake eyed him for a minute as he fell asleep and then glanced at Neo, who was still piloting the ship. Drowsiness overtook her too and she felt her vision fade as she fell asleep. Her head slipped to the side and fell on Touma's shoulder. His head then rested on hers. Both of them were rather comfortable for sitting in the back of a cargo ship.

Neo's teeth ground in silent anger as she noticed them, but there wasn't much she could do about it. None of the others knew how to pilot the ship except for Mercury, but there was no way Neo was trusting their life to him.

Glancing over at the jerk, he signaled her with his fingers. She responded with a brief nod and gestured back. While the others were asleep, there was a chance they would wake up. It was imperative they didn't hear the information being exchanged.

Weirdly enough, with two unlucky individuals, a former terrorist, a former criminal, and one of the biggest assholes alive in a single ship, they managed to get back to Beacon without being shot down, crashing, or being swarmed by Grimm. That was a small miracle in itself. Neo landed the Bullhead a couple miles from the school and gestured dramatically to Mercury with a tug on her lips.

He understood exactly what he needed to do.

"RISE AND SHINE!" He yelled, banging against the metal walls.

"I'M UP!" Jaune and Touma bolted upright. Blake was immediately on her feet, hands automatically reaching for her weapon, but stopped when she remembered where they were.

"We would like to thank you for flying Neopolitan Airlines. You'll find the quickest exit right behind you, please watch your step and consider us again for your next rescue operation needs. Thank you and enjoy."

"I hate you." Touma muttered.

"Still friends?" Mercury asked, raising a fist up.

"Why not?"

They fist-bumped and then Jaune joined in. Now that they landed, he was feeling much better. The guys were insulting each other, but at the same time, still close. Blake watched them with interest. She never got to see a lot of guy friendship. The most she had seen was Jaune and Ren, which wasn't a good benchmark. Neo bounded behind them, picked up her shoe, and exited the Bullhead with the rest of them. Before they started the walk back to Beacon, Neo touched the ship. The entire vehicle shimmered before being replaced by rocks.

"You can't keep it." Touma told her and Neo gestured at him. "It doesn't matter that you were able to rescue us with the last one you had. We have to tell Ozpin about it." Neo crossed her arms and huffed at him.

"Aww, let her keep it." Mercury suggested. "You never know when you two will need a private getaway. I hear Vacuo is nice this time of year."

Jaune immediately stepped away as a dark cloud formed around Blake.

Neo gestured at Mercury with a thank you.

"No," Touma said again sternly. "As your team leader, we are letting Ozpin know about it."

Neo crossed her arms and then kicked him in the shin. He hopped around on one foot with a pained grimace on his face which brought back the smirk onto Neo's face. There was one crucial detail he had missed. She quickly signaled it to him to point it out. It was really handy that he knew how to read her gestures. A lot of time was saved and wordlessly causing his eyes to widen in shock was incredibly satisfying.

"Right…" Touma muttered. "Explaining why we have one…"

"That's a very good point." Jaune admitted and glanced at Blake.

As much as she hated to admit it, Neo was right. They would have to explain how they knew about it. Neo would obviously not tell the truth about it to Ozpin. Their best option was to say they randomly discovered it when training out in the Emerald Forest. That actually might work. They just needed to wait until the excitement of the White Fang attack died down. If they went to Ozpin now, there would be a lot of questions they couldn't answer.

"We can pretend to find it another day," Blake suggested. "For now, let's get back. I'm sure our teams are worried about us." Knowing she had to face Yang after those texts weighed heavily on her mind.

"I'll eat my shoe if Accelerator's worried about me." Touma joked.

"We told them we were going into Vale," Jaune reminded him. "We just say we drank a bit too much, missed the last Bullhead, and stayed the night."

"Which technically is mostly true," Mercury laughed. "Just omit a little bit of the details."

"Mhmm." Blake murmured. "I think we should tell them what happened. They probably know."

They still would have to explain why she and Neo went after them. The earlier text messages still lingered in her mind. Her team had some but not everything. At least there was time to think about a convincing story as they trucked their way back to the Beacon. All the uniforms they had stolen were discarded and they were wearing pretty much their under layer, being forced to leave their top layer at the White Fang base. Blake felt a little exposed, but everything was at least covered. The boys were also in front of them and she got a chance to admire their backsides.

Not like Yang would know. Neo was right beside her doing the same thing.

"Thought you could just sneak back in?"

Well, I should have seen this coming.

Blake found herself sitting in her dorm with Touma and Jaune in seats next to her. The rest of her team and Team JNPR were standing in front of them, silently expressing varying degrees of anger. Pyrrha was probably the least angry, but Weiss and Yang were definitely near the top. Neo and Mercury, who weren't part of the groups' inner circle, but nevertheless their partners in crime, were leaning up against the wall amused while watching things play out.

"Yes?" Jaune and Touma answered Yang's question.

"You should know that I'm a light sleeper, Jaune-Jaune." Nora reminded her.

"Since when?" Jaune asked incredulously. "Ren has to work hard to wake you up in the morning."

"Don't drag me into this." The other boy muttered.

"Explain where you all were last night," Weiss demanded. "Ruby had to interrupt my rest because of it."

"Why are we here?" Jaune asked her. "I told Pyrrha we were going into Vale and might not be back until late." He tried to get up but Pyrrha pushed him back down.

"Now, Jaune." She wore a smile on her face, but it seemed really unfitting for the aura she exuded. "You were gone all night and didn't bother leaving a message letting us know you wouldn't be back until the morning? We were worried."

Jaune gulped and didn't try to get up again.

"You two actually went to a club?" Ruby asked, looking back and forth between Touma and Jaune. "That seems… more like Yang's shtick."

"We had promised a couple people we would drop by and hang out when we were free," Touma explained. "They gave us their numbers, but I lost mine. Could have sworn I had it in my bedside table." He shrugged. "Just my luck."

"I lost it too," Jaune admitted, not noticing Pyrrha looking guilty. "So we decided to head over since we were going to Vale."

"And I heard them saying they were going to party and I joined them." Mercury added. "Thought it would be some minor party, get a few drinks, but they actually got us into Junior's. Damn." Touma and Jaune turned to him and panic and shook their heads quickly for him to be silent. Of course, he continued, being the asshole he was. "They knew the Malachite twins. Impressive."

"Hang on!" Yang held up her hand. "You're telling me you two actually went to Junior's to meet the Malachites?" Jaune and Touma looked down and remained silent. Blake and Neo were now joining the rest of the girls watching those two.

"Who are the Malachites?" Weiss asked, glancing over at Yang.

"Twin bouncers at Junior's bar. Both have Aura and are pretty tough, but they are a couple huuuuuge bitches."

"Yang!" Ruby held out the swear jar and Yang tossed a Lien in.

"So Jaune was meeting a girl?" Nora asked, confused.

"Seems like it." Blake replied.

"Silence!" Weiss pointed at Blake. "Don't push attention off you. We will get to you in a minute!"

"You can't judge a book by its cover," Mercury spoke up, adding more fuel to the fire. "Dang, after a drink or two, they knew how to flirt. Had those two girls hanging off their arms most of the night. Were even planning to accompany those two back to their room. Lucky bastards."

"WHY?!" Touma and Jaune cried out at this evident betrayal.

Everyone froze at this pronouncement, even Ren. Nora, who had been standing near Pyrrha, suddenly backed away as darkness exploded from the girl. Jaune didn't see it, as she was standing behind him, but a shiver ran down his spine. Touma could feel Neo's gaze bore into the back of his head, along with Blake staring from his left side. Then there was Ruby whose eyes betrayed how hurt she was and made him feel guilty beyond belief. Yang was a combination of stunned and a cross between amazement and disgust. Weiss was just disgusted.

"So vulgar."

"Why didn't you mention you were meeting them?" Pyrrha asked, her tone calm but dripping with venom. A far contrast to her usually polite voice. "I would have gone with you if that was a case to meet your friends."

"It was… er… supposed to be a guys' night?" Jaune answered lamely. He could feel the temperature around him drop.

"Then why didn't you invite Ren?"

"Yeah!" Nora agreed. "Why didn't you invite Ren?" Ren looked up from his spot, but wisely kept his mouth shut.

"Because you told us you and he were going to do something," Jaune replied. There was actually a good answer to her question. "That's why we brought Mercury along. If we had run into Sun, we would have invited him too."

"Oh, alright." She sounded cheerful and Ren looked relieved he hadn't been invited.

"We can talk more about that later." Pyrrha assured Jaune, who sweat dropped at the tone of her words.

"Good, he needs to tell you something too." Mercury called out from the back.

"Shut up!" Jaune hissed.

"Don't chicken out." Touma whispered.

"I know, okay?"

Pyrrha looked confused at the boys' arguing. There was a twinkle in Yang's eyes as she began to put the pieces together.

"I'll be checking to make sure you followed through," Mercury told Jaune and then loudly yawned, not even bothering to try stifling it. "Well, have fun you lot. I'm heading to bed. I'm sure Emerald's worried sick about me."

"Yeah… pretty sure she hopes you stay gone!" Jaune called over his shoulder. Since Mercury was technically part of another team, none of the girls tried to stop him. In fact, it made it easier to talk about private things now. As for him, he needed to let Cinder know about all the stuff he discovered. She was sure to be pleased.

"Fine, so you were out drinking," Yang announced, cutting everyone off after the door slammed behind Mercury. "We've all been there-…"

"I haven't!" Ruby and Weiss protested.

"…That doesn't explain why Neo and Blake left in the middle of the night to go get you three."

Jaune and Touma shared a look, before glancing at Blake. None of them could turn around and look at Neo without drawing suspicion. It wasn't like Neo was worried. None of them knew how Neo knew about their circumstances and she wasn't going to tell them. Jaune had run over multiple ideas on the way back, each unlikely to be believed. The girls were all pretty smart. Mercury may have had ideas, but he only joked about possible solutions. Blake had remained silent on the topic mostly, planning to go to the fallback that Neo was sneaking out Beacon.

"Well?" Weiss pressed. "We're waiting."

"It was me!" Touma blurted out.

"You?" Ruby asked, surprised. "What did you do?"

"We got pretty drunk," Touma explained. "Mercury wanted to keep partying, since I guess he was used to drinking. Jaune and I could barely walk. So, in my wisdom, I texted Neo that she needed to pick us up."

This was of course a lie. Blake, Neo, Mercury, and Jaune all knew the truth. There was also a pretty big flaw in his story, something Weiss picked up instantly. Actually, there were a couple flaws.

"First, Neo can't leave Beacon," Weiss stated. "Second, she doesn't have a Scroll and her tablet doesn't get messages."

"Yeah, I know." Touma nodded. "Why do you think Blake picked up?"

Blake's ears twitched under her bow as she realized what he was implying. It didn't take a genius to figure it out. Weirdly, even Ruby knew what he was talking about.

"You drunk texted Blake?" Ruby asked and Touma nodded. "Wow, I remember getting some from Yang at three in the morning. 'Ruby, do we need another dog? Cause I found one inside a cage that looked lonely.' or something like that."

Everyone laughed as Yang flushed.

"One time!"

"Then there was the time you texted me about how cereal disappeared from the shelves, but it turned out you were in a clothing store." Ruby added.

"Okay, okay, I do that sometimes." Yang gave Ruby a noogie as the smaller girl begged for mercy. "But we're focusing on those three, not me."

"So you drunk texted Blake," Pyrrha repeated and then looked at Blake. "Why did you take Neo with you?"

"I was going to deal with them myself," Blake lied. "Even if I had to go to Vale. Neo was up though and heard me leave. She wouldn't take no for an answer, and with Touma gone, my words meant nothing to her. "

Everyone glanced at Neo, who was laughing silently. That was a great lie on Blake's part. They all knew Neo would never listen to anyone if she didn't have to. Shoot, she barely listened to Touma and she liked him. Then there was the fact Neo wouldn't care what story they told. She would just go along with whatever they said if it didn't make her look stupid.

"So you broke the rules Ozpin set up?" Yang asked. "Did something happen that made you rush to Vale?" They all knew. Weiss had even texted Blake mentioning the White Fang.

Blake flushed and looked at the ground. Originally, she had just been watching Neo to make sure she wasn't up to anything. When she left Beacon in the middle of the night, Blake was sure she had the information she needed to prove that. Finding out Touma and Jaune had been kidnapped by the White Fang had thrown all reason out the window and they were forced to leave immediately.

The problem was, at this point, Blake couldn't tell them what happened. Jaune had caught a few glimpses into Blake's time in the White Fang, but the rest of his team didn't know. She made him promise not to tell. As long as his team was there, they couldn't talk freely. Her eyes traveled to Yang and she tried to communicate to her partner about the situation.

It must have worked because Yang turned to Pyrrha.

"Pyrrha, we got team private talks to do, you guys mind leaving for a bit? We can decide on their punishment for leaving us in the dark later."

"Of course," Pyrrha replied, standing up. "I want to question Jaune more on their irresponsible behavior at that club." Jaune pleaded silently with Touma for help, but there was nothing either of them could do and he was forced to leave.

"Jaune-y is in trouble~." Nora sang, following them with Ren right beside her. Touma was going to get up and sneak out too, but Yang pushed him back down in the seat. Because he was forced to stay, Neo refused to leave. Knowing it was a losing battle to get her to, the other girls let her stay.

"Okay, I got rid of them." Yang sat down on a chair across from Blake and Touma. "Tell us about the White Fang and why you two got involved."

"Huh?" Touma stared at her in confusion. He figured there was no way she should have been able to know about that already. Blake knew Yang had an idea, but hadn't told Touma.

"Ruby woke up last night and saw Blake was gone." Weiss explained.

"And the White Fang attacking a nightclub was all over the news." Ruby pointed out. "We knew Touma and Jaune were out last night. When you showed us the picture with Neo, we put two and two together. She wouldn't have left unless Touma was in trouble."

"Ah…" Blake had to admit that made perfect sense to everyone.

"Why did the White Fang attack?" Weiss asked Touma. "Did you and Arc get involved in a heist?"

"They came for us," Touma admitted. "More specifically, me."

"You?" Ruby asked confused. "Why? Was it because you discovered some secrets about them when you were working with Torchwick?"

"No, it's not that." Touma sighed and rubbed the bridge of his nose. "You know how Blake and I fought against the White Fang during the last mission?" The other girls nodded and Blake was watching him closely. Her team didn't know about the dragon or that Adam was her ex-mentor. He was on his own. "Well, I guess some of those guys mentioned I was some weird dragon Faunus or something."

"A dragon Faunus?" Weiss repeated. "Dragons aren't real. Even a Grimm Dragon has never been seen."

"Blake?" Yang asked. "You know more than we do."

"Faunus have traits of real animals," Blake explained for them like she had to do for Touma and Jaune. "So a dragon Faunus shouldn't exist."

"So because the White Fang thought you were a dragon Faunus, they went after you?"

Ruby remembered what she saw when she arrived at the Faunus village during their mission. Because of how weird that had been, she never mentioned it, even when she believed Blake and Touma knew something about it. Now that this dragon Faunus had been mentioned? She knew she hadn't imagined it. Something dangerous had appeared and it had not been a Grimm.

Did Touma have something to do with it?

"Yeah," Touma confirmed, looking at Ruby. "We had no idea when they came into the club. We were unarmed and they weren't. There was nothing we could do but go with them to prevent a shootout."

"Didn't help much," Yang pointed out. "It was all over the news."

"Shush." Weiss cut her off. "It could have been a lot worse. It was probably the best, while stupid, course of action they could do, especially if they were drunk."

"It was totally planned." Touma lied. "Anyways, they took us toward some random base out in the wilderness. Thankfully, Neo and Blake were coming and were able to follow."

There was a huge gap in the story here. Weiss was the only one who would probably be able to calculate the time jump, but she would have to do research about when the White Fang attacked and when Blake went missing. She didn't have that information and Touma hoped she wouldn't go looking for it. Since everyone got back safely, they may be in luck and she'll overlook it.

"This base was some training location for White Fang recruits," Touma continued. "We found out while being held there that because of those rumors, the leader, a woman named Sienna Khan, expressed interest in seeing me."

"The Sienna Khan?" Weiss gasped.

"I saw her when we were escaping," Blake assured her. "It was definitely her."

"So was it her orders or…?" Yang trailed off, gesturing for Touma to continue.

"No, it was some random recruits who thought they could rise in the ranks if they got hold of the Dragon Faunus." Touma couldn't help but crack a laugh at the sheer stupidity of that situation now that he was out of danger. "They got in a load of trouble. We actually got a chance to talk with Sienna."

"Really?" Weiss raised an eyebrow. "Was she as bloodthirsty as the rumors say?" Blake crossed her arms and looked annoyed, but kept her mouth shut.

"She was a hypocrite more than anything." Touma answered immediately.

"Hypocrite?" Ruby asked.

"She told me about how Faunus were oppressed under humans," Touma recalled. "And I felt bad. I really did… but what she said after…" He trailed off and looked at the other girls. "She would do the same thing as what she said she was fighting against." His hand balled into a fist. "Jaune asked her how far she would go and she flat out said she would destroy a peaceful town if it meant achieving her goal."

Ruby and Yang were dazed by this, but Weiss' eyes narrowed and Blake focused on the floor.

"The only good thing out of that conversation was that she admitted she didn't enjoy using violence, unlike Adam." Touma took a deep breath. "I see why Blake left them after having a leader like that." Blake nodded slowly and looked relieved that even after hearing that, Touma didn't start hating Faunus.

"She's the one who advocated using violence," Weiss stated. "It was ever since she took over, that the attacks started to skyrocket."

"She thinks she's doing what's necessary." Touma sighed. "People who believe they are doing what has to be done are some of the hardest to convince they are wrong, but it can be done."

"You're going to convince a terrorist to change her ways?" Weiss raised an eyebrow skeptically.

"I changed my ways." Blake interjected.

"Wouldn't be the first time." Touma muttered simultaneously, earning a few glances.

"Is it okay to talk about all this in front of Neo?" Ruby asked suddenly. Everyone turned around and Neo waved to them while smiling, letting them know she was still there.

"She knows all this already." Blake and Touma said together. Neo gave a thumbs up to their response.

"So how did you get back?" Ruby then asked.

"We stole one of their Bullheads and left after blowing up half of their airfield." Blake answered. Yang, Weiss, and Ruby stared at her.

"To be fair, the explosion was an accident." Touma added. Neo made a so-so gesture with her hand.

"Where's the stolen Bullhead now?" Weiss couldn't help asking.

"Out in the Emerald Forest disguised with an illusion to look like a pile of rocks." Blake answered instead, pointing out the window.

"Hang on!" Yang glanced at Neo. "Her illusions can be permanent, even if they aren't next to her?"

The smugness oozing from Neo's expression could be felt by everyone.

"Okay…" Weiss rubbed the bridge of her nose. "So Touma, Arc, and Mercury went to a club, got kidnapped by the White Fang, escaped with the help of Neo and Blake, then arrived back here in a stolen Bullhead? Anything else we should know?"

"Technically, Jaune and I were about to escape on our own." Touma regretted his words as Neo smacked him in the back of the head. Blake also raised an eyebrow at him. "They helped a lot though and made it really easy, don't get me wrong."

"Better." Blake mumbled.

"You and Jaune are super resourceful," Ruby assured him. "I'm sure you two would have gotten out, but your friends can't just stay behind and worry when we know we can help. So promise me, if you need help, let us know."

"Okay." Touma promised. As if he could say anything else in front of those hurt eyes.

"You too, Blakey." Yang told her and she nodded. "If anyone asks where you were this morning, I'm saying you and Touma were out at a hotel all night."

"What?!" Blake and Touma burst out in shock.

Interestingly enough, Ruby had joined them too in their disbelief

"Hey, I have to have a little fun as punishment for not being able to sleep last night," Yang pointed out. "Just be glad I'm not telling anyone unless they ask."

"Is that the best we can hope for from her?" Touma whispered to Blake.

"Yeah, she's being surprisingly generous." She replied back and then gazed suspiciously at her partner.

"What are you up to Yang?" Weiss added, recognizing the weirdness too.

"What?" Yang asked. "I can tell how serious last night was and it's not like we can tell anyone the real situation. I'm just saying, if someone asks, that's what I'm saying. You'll have to back it up otherwise more questions will follow."

"You're deplorable." Weiss told her.

"Yeah!" Ruby added. "Quit being so mean."

Before anyone else could berate Yang for her teasing, there was a knock on the door. Instantly, all talk ceased as everyone turned their attention to the door. They weren't expecting guests. If it had been Nora, she would have just pounded on the door shouting at them it was her. Pyrrha and Jaune should have been talking about last night, so who could it be?

Another round of knocking followed.

Neo was closest to the door and saw everyone else just standing there. They obviously were thinking about just playing quiet so they could continue their talk. There was a chance it was Glynda noticing their absence or another teacher looking for them. Still, this conversation was dragging and she was tried. So she did what any normal person with manners would do.

She opened the door.

"Hello! MISAKA greets everyone as MISAKA steps inside." Last Order turned around. "See? MISAKA says proudly. Neo is here! And the savior is too!"

"Who cares?" Accelerator muttered. "We came to see if they can watch you, brat." He stepped into view and glanced around. "What? Are you all having an intervention or something?"

"Kind of." Weiss admitted, eyeing him closely. She knew she needed to talk to him privately, but as long as she didn't bring the subject up, he pretended the conversation never happened. It was impossible to know how to approach this the right way. "Touma and Arc went and got kidnapped by the White Fang before Blake and Neo rescued them."

"Sounds about right." Accelerator yawned.

"You don't seem surprised." Yang pointed out.

"Wouldn't be the first time he's done this shit."

"So are you done questioning him? MISAKA asks. MISAKA wanted to know if you all were free to hang out."

"I think we are," Ruby assured her. "Not much we can do now."

"I'm going to go to the cafeteria and grab something for breakfast before taking a quick nap," Blake informed them. "It should still be open."

"Umm…." Ruby's worry caused Blake to pause.

"What is it?"

"You see…" Ruby gulped. "The cafeteria was damaged by a fire and isn't open. They only had some cereal and some leftover fruit. We have to take care of our own meals for a couple of days. This weekend at least, but they said it could be through Wednesday."

"So they aren't making… anything?" Blake asked dryly.

Neo also looked horrified.

"They have ingredients we can use in the communal kitchens," Weiss elaborated. "It's punishment for someone starting the fire."

"When I find out who, they are going to regret it!" Accelerator snapped.

"Hehe, yeah, MISAKA giggles nervously as MISAKA rubs her foot in the carpet."

Neo cracked her knuckles indicating for once, she was going to help someone besides Touma.

"I'm used to cooking my own food," Touma shrugged. To him, it wasn't a big deal and he looked back at Accelerator and Neo. "Since I don't have to buy the food, I can cook for us. It's not a problem."

Last Order thanked him at once, but Accelerator and Neo stared at him. Accelerator was torn. At first he wanted to tell him to fuck off, but at the same time cooking was a pain in the ass. Back home, he would just order take out or be forced to cook if all else failed. The problem with take out is having to fly all the way to Vale and then also pay. Until the contract with Atlas for the shield finishes, he only had a very small sum of money available to him. If he could get out of doing anything troublesome by letting the hero take over, might as well.

Neo hadn't cooked for years. She was wealthy and wealthy people didn't cook for themselves. Plus, cooking was boring. She would either order or make Roman cook. One of the perks of being at Beacon was eating in the cafeteria. Sure the meals weren't five-star cuisines, but they had plenty of ice cream and other foods. Keeping Huntsmen and Huntresses maintained with quality food was a priority so they could focus on their job. She couldn't order take out due to not having a phone and being unable to go to Vale. Touma offering to cook solved all her problems.

She had to thank him.

"AHH!"

Touma nearly fell out of his chair as Neo hung off his back while wrapping her arms around him.

"Neo! Okay!" The boy choked out. "Your thanks is noted!"

Not wanting to stop there, the thankful girl also decided to mark her territory. She leaned forward and kissed his cheek.

The effect was instantaneous.

Yang was slightly amused by her antics, mostly due to Touma's stunned reaction. Weiss just snorted, knowing Neo was just being a troublemaker like usually, but then immediately stepped away from Ruby. Her partner was radiating a concerning amount of distaste in their direction, much like Pyrrha did when she found out Jaune had gone out to meet another girl. Ruby's expression didn't seem malicious, it was more shock, so maybe she didn't realize she was angry.

Blake was another story.

Her expression changed from shock to anger as her eyes narrowed. Sweat formed on Touma's brow as he felt the sharpened glare stab at him. Then, slowly, a malicious grin formed on her face. She slowly stood up, with the others watching her silently. Even Accelerator wanted to see where this was going. If there was going to be an amazing catfight, no pun intended, he could watch.

"You know?" Blake said softly, her voice barely above a whisper. "After everything last night, maybe Yang was right about you needing punishment."

"W-what?!" Touma stuttered as Neo glared at the Faunus from her position, refusing to let him go. "Come on! You had no idea what Jaune and I suffered there. We had to eat some kind of gruel that probably wasn't made for human consumption, while fighting a hangover!"

"Yes, but you interrupted my sleep," Blake countered. "That's incredibly important to girls."

"She's got you there." Yang conceded and Weiss nodded.

"So while I catch up on my sleep," Blake continued. "You are going to make lunch for me so I don't have to worry about it. Understand?"

"Sure?" Touma sounded completely confused. Relief was also evident as that was all that he would be subjected to. "I would have done it for you if you asked anyways."

"For the rest of your stay in Beacon."

"Now that sounds more like a punishment." Touma sighed but accepted his fate as the girl's personal chef. "Wouldn't be the first time I had to cook for others."

"Hang on!" Ruby shouted. "Will you cook for us too? We were worried we might have to rely on Yang's cooking skills."

"Hey!" Yang protested. "I can cook!"

"Ruby can only make cookies." Weiss added, ignoring Yang. "There's no way I could eat those for every meal."

"At least I can cook something!" Ruby huffed. "Who was the one who admitted she's never even turned on an oven?"

"T-There was never a need to." Weiss countered, averting her eyes in embarrassment.

"I don't see why not," Touma replied to Ruby, who grinned. He couldn't see the scowl forming on Neo's face, as the girl was still leaning over his back. "I'll be happy to cook for you all. But only until the cafeteria gets rebuilt. I don't want to go back to cooking for seven people every day, like I used to."

"You cooked for seven people each day? I thought you only had one roommate?" Weiss asked skeptically.

"I do."

"But then-"

"You're the best!" Neo hopped back as Ruby charged forward and hugged Touma, admiring how warm and comfy he felt. He couldn't really push her away, the radiant smile on her face was just too much to bear.

"Going to let him go, sis?" Yang asked after a minute.

"Eep!" Ruby hopped back, her face scarlet.

"Ignoring those two, thank you for agreeing to this." Weiss said diplomatically to Touma. "I know it would be a lot of extra work on your part."

"I assure you, I'm used to it." Touma replied.

"Either way, we appreciate it." Blake assured him.

"It's nice to know someone who can cook." Yang stated louder than necessary. "Because apparently, even after raising Ruby, I can't."

"She got a cookie addiction because of you." Weiss pointed out.

"I don't have an addiction," Ruby scoffed. "I can stop anytime I want to. They are just so delicious, so I don't want to."

"Accelerator can cook too, MISAKA informs as MISAKA tugs on Weiss' skirt."

Accelerator immediately turned to look at the girl.

"Really?" Weiss looked up at Accelerator and then down to Last Order. "Is he any good?"

"Yep, MISAKA states proudly. He's even begun to teach MISAKA how to cook."

"Don't let her touch a toaster." Accelerator warned.

"Heh." Yang had a sudden idea. "Why don't you show off your skills, string bean?"

"EH?!

Accelerator looked at her like she was crazy.

"Scared he's better than you?" Yang pressed. "Why not have a little competition."

"Accelerator is an awesome cook, MISAKA protests as MISAKA waves her hands angrily in the air. He would totally win!"

"Shut it, brat!" Accelerator snapped. "Don't give in to her taunts."

"But MISAKA wants them to see your good points, MISAKA begs, as tears begin to form in MISAKA's eyes."

"Tch." Accelerator turned. "Fine. I'll do it. Once, and you never ask me to do this shit again."

"Deal!"

"What was that?!"

Everyone jumped at a loud excitable voice as Nora interrupted their conversation. The girl stuck her head in through the open door with a huge grin on her face.

"If there's a cooking challenge, don't leave Team JNPR out of it!"

"Only the guys can participate!" Yang called out before anyone else could answer.

"HAH!" Nora laughed loudly and didn't look nervous. "Ren is an awesome cook who makes the world's best pancakes. Jaune's also amazing in the kitchen."

"We'll be the judge of this!" Yang countered.

"Jaune! Ren! Team JNPR's honor is at stake!"

Nora rushed off across the hall to tell her team and Last Order followed to greet them too. As Accelerator left to follow, the glare he spared them from before leaving was so powerful that lesser people would have wet themselves right there. Neo then grabbed Touma and dragged him off.

"W-What's the rush!" The misfortunate boy cried out, but the silent girl obviously didn't answer.

The second the door closed, Weiss rounded on Yang.

"What was that about?!"

"I just got us a free meal," Yang bragged, jumping up on her bed looking pleased with herself. She finally had a new bed after Accelerator threw her old one out the window. Glynda acted swiftly to get her a new one, even if she had to pay because no one saw Accelerator destroy her old one.

Her plan was genius. If all the guys could cook, she would be able to enjoy a smorgasbord of delicacies. Even if the meals were only average, at least she didn't have to cook. Of course, Yang secretly hoped Accelerator was an awful cook and she could make fun of him for days about it. Touma had already promised to make them meals, so that was taken care of for the next few days at least. As long as he was a good cook.

"You're incorrigible." Weiss shook her head.

"At least we get to enjoy Touma's food!" Ruby cheered excitedly. "I can't wait to see what kind of meal he plans. Maybe something awesome from his world?" She suddenly imagined all sorts of weird food, mostly cookie-related, but she couldn't wait to try it.

"They do seem to have similar types of food." Weiss admitted. "They might just have different herbs or preparation based on their culture. It might be interesting."

"See!" Yang leaned over the side of the bed. "No need to thank me."

"Just don't lose your bed again by provoking Accelerator."

Blake yawned and decided to crash. It had been a long night without sleep and now all the questioning was over. Her team needed to know about Adam, but Blake wasn't sure she was ready to tell them yet. She had promised Touma she would, but it was hard. Maybe after she was rested it would be easier. Crawling into the warm sheets, her ears twitched under her bow as her team began to talk.

It was comforting in a way and Blake soon was fast asleep.

"I'm back!" Mercury announced, throwing open the door to his room.

"Why do you have to be so loud?!" Emerald snapped.

"Been a long day and I'm partially deaf from a Bullhead explosion." Mercury kicked off his shoes and hopped on his bed. "And do I have a story for you, Emmy."

"I would also like to hear that story."

Mercury gulped as he immediately sat up and spun around. Stepping out of the conjoining bathroom was Cinder, looking as stunning as always. Her dangerous eyes were examining him, with an expression somewhere in between interest and irritation. Mercury remained silent as she walked past him and sat down on her chair.

"I do hope you have a good explanation for wasting so much time," Cinder continued. "You did discover why the White Fang attacked Junior's club, did you not?"

"Of course!" Mercury almost saluted. Cinder just commanded that much respect. Of course, those that didn't respect her didn't last long. "I was in the middle of doing what you wanted us to do. Touma Kamijou and Jaune Arc invited me out to go clubbing with them and I accepted to get closer to their group."

"Pssh, yeah right." Emerald scoffed. "You totally just wanted to party and flirt with girls."

"You're the only one for me Emmy," Mercury assured her. "The others mean nothing."

"God, you just made me throw up a little in my mouth."

"Enough!" Cinder's voice was firm. "Your bickering annoys me." Her gaze flickered back to Mercury. "You gained their trust?"

"Yep!" Mercury gave a thumbs up. "In a way that makes it look like I'm not perfect, but at the same time, close enough to the guys I can join them pretty much anytime I need to."

"Start at the beginning," Cinder ordered. "I want to know what led up to the White Fang disaster."

"So I caught those two talking about going to Vale to visit some people at a club and tagged along," Mercury started out. "They agreed and we went to Junior's. Got them a little drunk and had them spill things I'm sure they didn't mean too."

"Oh?" A shadow of a smile flickered on Cinder's face. "Such as?"

"Have you heard of a place called Japan or Academy City?" Mercury asked and Cinder's smile quickly became a frown.

"No, I have not. Emerald?"

"Searching now!" Emerald had her Scroll out and began to skim through the internet. "I'm not coming up with anything."

"It's where Touma's from," Mercury added. "Jaune's from Ansel."

"Interesting," Cinder mused thoughtfully, a finger on her cheek. "His hometown might be too small for Vale authorities to pay attention to. That or…" She trailed off and neither Mercury nor Emerald interrupted. "Anything else before those fools interrupted?"

"So you already know the reason why the White Fang attacked?" Mercury asked, surprised.

"Yes, Adam was not pleased, nor about your escape," Cinder said. "Saving them though had benefits for us, so played your part well. Now, did anything else happen at Junior's?"

"Actually, one thing stands out," Mercury muttered, aware of the others watching him closely. "They met someone in the back room for like ten or fifteen minutes and then came back out a little irritated. They drank more and I took advantage of that, but couldn't get them to spill who it was. Just that they were an asshole."

"So they were meeting you then?" Emerald commented and quickly went silent as Cinder raised a hand.

"That might be worth investigating if Junior allowed them to use a back room." Cinder tapped her cheek. "Any surprises?"

"Oh, a big one!" Mercury started laughing. "Turns out those two dweebs are ladies men. They got those twin bouncers of his wrapped around their fingers. Looks like Emmy might have trouble flirting with him." He got flicked off for that comment. Mercury then crossed his arms and suddenly grew serious. "Made me wonder if Neo actually fell for that Touma kid."

"Neo is a wild card," Cinder stated. "She will follow whatever interests her. However, she does have a certain amount of loyalty to Roman Torchwick and she values her life. If she truly wants that boy, she'll bring him with her when we leave after the tournament."

"Speaking of that," Emerald pipped up. "When is our fourth member arriving?"

"Adam said she should be arriving today," Cinder answered. "We only need her for a short time."

"Got it."

"So should I keep observing their group then?" Mercury asked. "Shouldn't be too hard. Team RWBY accepted me easily enough and Team JNPR pretty much considers me one of them for helping their leader."

"Yes, but don't blow your cover." Cinder warned. "Learn and observe, but don't draw attention." A pause followed her words as her eyes traveled back to Emerald. "You will be in charge of observing Accelerator. From what I have learned, his power of Vector Manipulation makes him a dangerous foe. We need to discover his weakness."

"Isn't that the girl always by him?" Emerald asked.

"Most likely. It's not about overpowering an enemy. It's about taking away what power they have. And we will, in time. We must determine what lengths he will go through to protect that girl. Your power does work on him."

"It does!" Emerald nodded enthusiastically. "I made a fly buzz around his head and he reacted. So that deflection he supposedly has doesn't block my hallucinations."

"Then we have a start," Cinder stated. "You will follow him. From our earlier observations, he leaves Beacon and does something with Dust crystals in the Emerald Forest, away from prying eyes. Follow him and see if you can determine his weakness. Illusions in the middle of the woods won't draw attention if you don't get caught. That is essential. Understand?"

"Y-yes, Cinder!"

"Very good." Cinder turned back to Mercury. "You did well too. That is the kind of quick thinking I expect from you."

"All in a day's work." Mercury bragged. "Up to Emmy to flirt with that Accelerator guy now. Maybe you can get him to open up during pillow talk?"

"Fuck you!"

"You have to buy me dinner first."

Cinder left the room. Their insistent squabbling annoyed her to no end.

At the Vale airport, crowds of people were coming and going. Many of whom were getting ready for the Vytal festival coming up. Crowds of humans and Faunus were spilling into the streets. It was almost impossible to find a single person. That made it the perfect cover to sneak in. This time, the girl didn't have to sneak in the cover of night. She was here legally, at least her papers said she was. A simple student of Haven.

A girl with long brown hair tied back up a ponytail that curled up a bit at the end was holding a luggage bag behind her as she made her way toward the Beacon Bullhead. She wore a short black tail jacket with a gold zipper, buckle, buttons to keep the sleeves rolled up in place, and a white interior. Her gray short-sleeved shirt exposed her midriff, maroon jean pants, and black sneakers. There were dark splotches on her arms, legs, stomach, and face.

"I'm finally here."

The girl knew she had a mission, but that wasn't what worried her. She knew someone here. A friend from long ago and she didn't know if she would be recognized. Of course, as a student of Haven, her alibi would be the same as her former friend. Though, that person betrayed the White Fang. That pain still ran deep within the girl.

A couple deep breaths were required to calm down. It would be best to avoid her. If they ran into each other, she had to remain composed.

The success of her mission depended on it.
