Today, it was his 9th birthday. He was ready to have a great day with his parents. He wonders what today has in store for him and what gifts would his family and friends give to him. Surely it will be wonderful.

"Mommy, Daddy, I wonder what I am going to have for my birthday?"
"Patience Alexandar, that will be spoiling the best part of the day. Why not we have fun first before open the presents?" His father laughed.
"Alexandar, aren't you supposed to have a birthday party first? You completely forgot about that, didn't you" His mother reminded him.
"Oh yeah… I forgot… Silly me" He laughed.

From afternoon till evening, he celebrated his birthday with everyone in his party. He was in joy. Playing many fun games, laughing around and more importantly, everyone is happy. That was his wish.

At night-time, it was time to open the presents. When he opened the presents, he couldn't believe what he got. He got his favourite toys from his friends. But what shocked him the most was what his parents gave him. His parents gifted him an electronic keyboard. It was his dream to be a pianist, a musician specialized in piano.

To start his dream, he must get familiar with the notes and the musical notes and symbols. However, he was not a genius in piano. So, his parents hired a music instructor to guide him into music. Overtime, he became better and better with music. With his growth as a musician, his parents would be proud of him if not for an incident.

At an age of 14, his parents went away for a business trip. However, they never returned ever again. He tried to get help, through everything he could. Through the police, authorities, governments. But nothing could help him. They all gave up and presumed his parents deceased.

However, he doesn't give up, he never does. After everything his parents did for him, at the very least, he must find them. He cannot give up because they are counting on him.

He travelled across the continent, finding his parents. However, his attempts were all wasted when he found out that his parents were dead. There was a volcanic eruption that took his parents away. He was too late… he couldn't save them. Now, what can he do?

Nothing.

As he wandered around in a foreign land, he wondered what he should do now. He couldn't save them. He was incapable for doing anything for anyone. He was alone. He truly has no one. His friends? He knows that he can't keep them forever, for they must part ways one day. The friends he had on his best birthday parted ways with him to carry out their lives. The friends he made in middle school parted ways with him to carry out their dreams. He admits that he couldn't get far without his parents. And without them, how would he be able to survive on his own? Even though he has inherited his parent's belongings, he doesn't know what to do.

There it was when he saw a girl being beaten up by a couple of men, who had cursed her for not doing her job properly. When he tried to intervene, he was being stopped by a bystander. Who has told him to not interfere with them, especially since it's the cursed girl's punishment.

"But she was so young… how could they just punish her like that?" He asked the stranger.
"You didn't hear about that girl? That girl is a demon child that must be contained. She was born to hurt us all. That is why we must make her behave so that it will not happen to us."

Where is that logic coming from? He didn't believe it. Was this girl really that of a bad person? What bad has she done that made her deserve such hate from literally everyone? As he looked back at the scene, she was gone.

Damn it, he failed to help her. How useless is he? He got distracted by a stranger and they took her away. Now what can he do? Nothing. Maybe he should not be a busybody and carry on with his life.

However, fate had another plan for him. It has given me a second chance to help her. As he prepared to leave home, he saw the same girl, the one who was said to be a cursed child. As he observed, he saw the girl's injuries, all from what he expected, being beaten up by whoever she was with. This time, he must not be distracted. He must do something to help this girl.

He was pushed away by these men as they left. Alexandar followed them to know where she stays so that it would be easier to find her. It was rather a long route, but eventually he found her 'jail'. Now that he knows, he can keep track of her.

He was alone as he made his way to the girl. As she was alone, he found it the best moment to talk to her. To his surprise, the girl wasn't willing to talk to him. Just how bad was she treated that she would treat everyone as an enemy?

"… I have seen how they have treated you. Are you fine with this?"

Silence came from the girl. She gritted. Realizing that this conversation would go nowhere, he changed the topic.

"So, what is your name? I am Alexander."

Another round of silence came from the girl. But after a few moments, she finally responded:

"What do you want from me? You can cut the pretence that you are pretending to be. I know where this would end up."
"I just want to help you-"
"Help me? Are you here to bully me like the others? How about this? Why don't you just shut up and leave right now!"

She slapped him. So, that was her response. He thought that she would be willing to accept his help. However, she doesn't. Was she not allowed to have help and just let herself suffer? Knowing that this will do nothing good, he left with his final words:

"I will set you free… from whatever pain or suffering that is causing you I promise. That day will be the day of your freedom and the start to your own happiness"

As he ventured around this land thinking of how to free this girl, he came to learn about this town and the girl. This town is very ritualistic. They follow their own culture. As for the girl, she was prophesied to be the one who will become a demon child who would slaughter everyone. He never knew why they would think of that. However, if he were to put himself into Hikari's shoes, perhaps he would become a demon as they would say only because everyone has mistreated her.

Knowing this, he has decided. If they wouldn't stop their treatment of her, then he would have to take her away from this place. Even if she doesn't like it, it is for her own good. This is at least the only good he could do after failing to save her parents.

So, what he knows is that this girl follows this man's orders which he enforces his control over the girl through the use of his men. His henchmen all called him 'the master'. He was a man to be feared. But one thing that he wondered is that the girl wasn't killed. For what reason could she be kept alive? He wants to find that out. Perhaps this would be useful for negotiations.

He stalked the girl even more, without anyone's knowledge. As he witnessed, she was being put into a gladiator battle against a man. Who so claimed that he will kill the demon child. He winced as he watched the fight. The girl was completely beaten up by the man. Tired, she was clearly defenceless. She had no strength to even fight anyone. She was about to die. But these people, they wanted her to lose and die… He cannot stand this anymore. He must stop this fight right now before she-

She swiped the knife away from the man as she finally started to fight back. As he looked at her, she remained expressionless. But, he watched in fear as she suddenly overpowered the man and proceeded to kill him.

As she continuously stabbed the man, the boy remembered what he had thought about the girl. She would become a demon that will kill everyone. So, she snapped. As he kept thinking, he wondered if it was a mistake to help her. On one hand, she murdered a man, and judging from his meeting with the girl, she will hurt him. She wasn't friendly. But on the other hand, most of this wasn't her fault. They made her an outcast. Where was her family to help her? Did she, like him, lose her family too? As he kept thinking, he began to doubt himself.

Will he do any good to her if he helps her?
What if he made her experience worse?
Or what if it was already too late to help her, for she has gone way too far?

"Do you really want to save her?" A voice in the boy's head was heard.

"Why do you want to help her?" To be frank, he has no idea why he spent so much effort in helping on just a single girl. He thinks of this as a single good deed, or to redeem for his failure to help his parents. But thinking about it, it wasn't justifiable to go so far for a girl. Maybe at this point, he is just forcing her.

"You don't even have a single idea of why you would do such a thing. Or maybe you are just a lonely boy who just lost everyone that mattered to you. If that's the case, why not join her? Suffer together to her. At least you won't be alone" It mocked the boy.

"No… I won't join her in her suffering… It's too much to bear… but as I learn about her, I want to learn more about her. The girl that she was meant to be… not the girl who has received the pain. I don't know why it's her… but the more I think about her, the more I want her out of this place. Together" He still couldn't understand it. Leaving her alone to her fate is a very reasonable option. But his conscience told him to help her.

"You don't even know why. But, if you really wish to save her, at least… it may be good enough for now. One day, you will realise on your own why you would save her, help her. Follow your own heart, it is in its right place."

This was… strange. He never imagined that he talked to himself in his head. He felt like he was mentally crazy. But then… this voice was right. He should just follow what he believes in.

So what can he do to help her? Call someone to help him save her? No, it wouldn't work. Who would even help him free her? They would rather leave her alone. If he were to do it himself, what can he do? Break her out? Ignoring the fact that the girl would refuse, he would be killed. So, what does he have? Food, water, camera, mo- wait, money? He has quite a ton of money he has, especially when he inherited everything his parents had. Maybe, just maybe, he can negotiate with the master into selling her to him. Then maybe, he wouldn't be in trouble. He can save her without any problems. So he approached them.

"What do you want lad? Don't disturb us unless you want trouble!" The master's lackey threatened. "Please, take me to your master, I can make a deal with him." The boy asked. "Making a deal with him, you say? Don't be silly, there is no way he makes deals with a kid like you." The lackey dismissed. "How about 400 bucks? I'll pay you 400 gold and you bring me to him." The boy proposed. "What do you mean? I nev-" "How about 900 gold? Also, you don't need to care if I managed to make a deal with him, or even what happens to me. Just take me to your master and the deal is done." The boy interrupted. The trick worked.

When the boy met the master, the master was no doubt surprised about this last minute arrangement. Well, at least he had nothing to do today. He supposed he could entertain this meeting. He had to admit, the kid is brave and impressive.

"Well then kid, you are lucky that I am in a good mood, otherwise, I'll have my men kick you out. Now speak, what is your purpose here?"
"I wish to negotiate with you, I want the girl that all of you call the cursed child or "demon child" so called. You can decide how much you want me to compensate."
"Are you serious kid? Who wants her? I was kind enough to volunteer to control her. If I wanted to, I could order to have her killed immediately. She is a curse to this world. Nobody wants her."
"Now now, please don't kill her now, or else that will ruin the purpose of me being here."
"Please consider, you will regret buying her."
"Nothing can change my mind on this. Admittedly, I don't believe that anyone is a curse to this world. We are just people born from different areas of life. But screw the discussions about the opinions about her, that's not what we came here for."
"Don't say I warned you kid. Anyway, how are you so sure you can afford it?"
"More than you can imagine. Now I believe it is your right to decide the price. But if you are indecisive about the amount, let me propose the starting price. 4500 bucks. You are free to adjust this price however you wish."
"You have got to try harder than that kid. At least double the price and MAYBE ill consider it"
"Hmm.. so 9000? But I don't think you would be convinced. So how about 13500? That's triple the amount."
"That would make me a loss since it is less than the amount it took me to get her. And I am sure as hell I want to profit from this."
"So tell me then, how much did you spend on her? I promise that you will greatly profit from this."
"How about 50,000 bucks?"
"Deal. Keep the change if I have spent more than enough. I want her alive and well."

The deal was made, he paid the price to set the girl free. He was surprised that this negotiation went smoothly for him. But, with her away from her master, he was not done with her. He has decided to take her home. She clearly needs help not only physically but mentally. She needs to realize that the world isn't that terrible.

Finally, they were away from that place, the girl's homeland. After taking her to his home, he allowed the girl to stay at her new home. However, the girl completely shut herself.

"It's ok, you are safe with me. We left that place together"
"Why...why do you want me?"
"I hate how they treat you. I have seen how they have treated you. When I see you like this, I find such cruelty undeserved. They called you a demon who will one day kill everyone. This is only true if they continue to treat you this way. However, have you considered what happened to yourself? Hate will fill your heart to no end. So I have decided to do they very thing nobody cared to do-"
"So, you have been following me all this time, making all that effort to get me away from the master, to fulfill your selfish ideal? No… I won't accept it… I refuse… Why should I trust you? Leave me alone!"

This is rather difficult. But he should have expected it. Ever since he brought her home, he didn't think much about what to do with her. Even after consolidating his thoughts, he still considered his actions to be on impulse considering the consequences. But he supposed that was worth it even with the lack of planning to change the girl's mindset as long as he can help her in whatever he could.

From then on, he gave her food to eat, treated her with care. He also bought clothes for her and left her alone to consolidate her thoughts. At some occasions, he would speak to her, however most of the time, he would be thrown out of the room. But he was patient with her. On rare occasions, he would take her out to just have a simple stroll. For the girl, she just simply made no comments as she would just follow him.

As he took care of her, he grew to realize how much responsibility he is taking up for her. But he doesn't regret it. For he is only doing a good deed for her. But… this felt wrong. What is wrong? He didn't do anything wrong, right? But he still felt somewhere was wrong. He has done something wrong but he doesn't about it.

"What is wrong Alexandar? I can feel that you are conflicted about your thoughts" A voice spoke again.
"I don't know… I could feel that something is wrong, but yet, everything is right."
"I see… I think I know exactly what the problem is. It's about her isn't it?"
"...You're right, I don't know what I did wrong to her. It was all fine, but it felt amiss"
"It's not about what you do to her. It's about what you think about her. Tell me, what do you think about her?"
"I feel that she is getting better. She will one day see that not everyone is bad. People can be good."
"That is the problem. You don't know why you would take her into your home. You did more than any samaritan would do. Now tell me, are you replacing your parents using that girl?"
"What? I would never-"
"But this has got something to do with your parents, doesn't it? You naturally felt more responsible for her as you spent more time with her. As if… you treat her like your younger sister."

Alexander was shocked. He never realized what he really thinks about the girl. But as the voice revealed this truth, it made sense to him.

"Listen, you may have not realized it yourself, but you unknowingly think that by helping this girl, you could erase the pain of losing your parents. However, this is not the way to do so. Look at yourself, you are starting to replace your parents with that girl. What you have lost cannot be replaced. However, you can create new bonds with people, such as that girl." The voice then disappeared.

…The voice was right. He cannot think of her this way. It would only hurt not only her but to himself in the end. From now on, he will treat her as his sister. He will protect her from any harm that will come to her. And once she has recovered from her truma, life can move on for both her and himself.

After nearly spending a year with the girl, he has finally waited for this day to happen. The day of her happiness has come for her. When he took the girl out for a stroll, she asked him to take her somewhere she can recollect her thoughts together with him. Stunned that she has made such a suggestion, he accepted her request.

Admittedly, the girl thinks of this sand filled with sea land (A/N: Beach. And no, they are not wearing beach clothes.) is quite peaceful since there was no one else around in the sunset. As they sat, there was a moment of silence, with her closing her eyes, thinking, thinking about her life. As Alexandar watched her, he waited. He doesn't know what she has planned to do here. Until she finally spoke

"Ever since you brought me to your home… you wished to help me...right?"
"Yes, I want to let you see the 'world' of happiness. The 'world' of light that you never get to see."
"A 'world' of happiness, a 'world' of light…"
"You always saw the 'world' of pain, suffering and tormentation, the 'world' of darkness, that very 'world' that you suffered."
"But you dragged me out of it…"
"And I invited you to this very world that was better for you. Is it not?"

She cried. She reflected on her past and it hurt her too much. But with him giving her a second chance of life, maybe, just maybe, she could finally do away with her suffering.

"So, have you gotten over your past?"
"I don't know… but with you around...maybe I can."

Silence came. He gave her some time to recollect herself. After minutes of awkwardness, he realized his mistake and laughed.

"Why are you laughing?"
"I am so dumb... After months of being with you, we never properly introduced each other. My name is Alexandar. How about you?"
"I… had a name, but I don't want to have that name anymore…"
"Well, I should have expected that. Well then, if you don't want that name, how about we make you a name right now?"
"...How about Mary?"
"Nah, too generic, how about Susan?"
"No, I don't like that name! Let me decide!"

He gave the girl some time to think of her new name.

"Alexandar, I finally found a good name"
"You seem like you thought about it"
"My name... shall now do away with everything I have suffered. Shall now become the very me that I have experienced over months since you brought me away from the 'world' of darkness which brings me suffering that drags me to hate. I will now live in the 'world' of happiness, the 'world' of light. I am..."
"You seem very determined now. I am proud of you"
"...Hikari"

And so, Alexandar was happy with Hikari. That day is the day where life can finally proceed normally for Hikari and himself. However, Hikari doesn't seem to be completely satisfied with this. As he visited her room, she was crying.

"What's wrong?"
"I… lied… I thought I am finished with that life of mine, but it's coming back for me…"
"It's okay, that part of life is over. You grew the determination to finally move on didn't you?"
"It's not just that… as they hurt them, I hurt them back… I even killed him"
"You had no choice, you were forced to defend yourself. But you are no longer that person who is forced to hurt others for yourself, or to follow anyone's orders. You are a person that is willing to pursue her happiness, her own dreams, without needing to hurt. I will be there for you and I will make sure no one will hurt you."

The girl hugged him as she continued to cry. No longer crying in sadness, but crying in relief and happiness. She has someone who cares for her.

"Thank you...brother"

He never expected for her to call him 'brother'. Is that… the start of her sibling's love for himself? He didn't mind her calling him that. He has already accepted Hikari as his own younger sister.

Hikari and Alexander's sibling bond becomes stronger. How fortunate for him, instead of finding despair, he found hope for himself. Hope that he won't be alone. Hope that he can show his dream to someone watching. That being is Hikari. As he played his music with Hikari, she was happy with him. She even wanted to learn a note from him, which he was willing to teach. Sadly, he was such a bad teacher. They laughed at his bad attempts at teaching. But at least Hikari never gave up. More importantly, they continued with their own lives, no longer stuck in their own setbacks of their lives.

Years later. Alexandar put Hikari into the same school as he is, only that she is a junior compared to him. When Hikari was around with people, she preferred to be alone, unless she was with Alexander. She would grab Alexander's hand tightly for some form of protection or sort. This is expected. The only person she trusts is him. He understood this behaviour. She needs to learn how to befriend and trust others, just like how she did with him

She was slowly making progress. She only got to know a few people she knew and she talked to her. However, she still preferred to be alone. Alexander sighed, at least today she tried.

He sent Hikari home to leave her to do her school work while he proceeded to buy food for themselves when he saw a black dressed girl on the roadside. He was surprised that this girl belonged to the same school as him. But what was even more surprising to him is that the girl approached him, seemingly very interested in him.

They introduced each other, exchanged contacts with each other. They wanted to stay longer, but they had to leave. He looked at his phone as it displayed the girl's contact number and name and said "I will see you again, Sophia. You are surely an interesting girl that I wish to meet."

From then on, they saw each other at the same exact place every time. They had talked about each other, from what class they were to their hobbies. He did not expect to share the same hobbies as her. When they spend time with each other, they ice skate, watch movies together and Sophia listens to Alexandar's music. It was an enjoyable experience for both of them.

What he thinks of her is that she was a gentle and beautiful girl but he is afraid of admitting that to her. He thinks he would cause a misunderstanding to everyone who would hear this, thinking 'Alexandar has gotten a girlfriend'. He was not ready for this relationship yet. They have only met each other for a month now.

Everytime he thinks of Sophia, he also thinks of Hikari, they are in a way similar to each other. Hikari may not seem to be a gentle girl, but once she has opened up to who she cares about, she would be a very kind girl. They were only different in how social they are. Sophia seemed to be willingly to openly talk to others while Hikari would open up to him only. Seeing this difference, Alexandar would-

No, that's not right. Not now. He has only met this girl for only a month. While Hikari needs friends, someone to be with her, not just him, it is not right to compare her with Sophia. He would need to wait a while longer to know her well enough before he can introduce her to Hikari.

To know if Hikari would be interested to meet Sophia, Alexandar often talked about her to Hikari. Hikari thought of this girl to be like Alexandar but she was scared. Scared that she would harm Alexandar after some time. But Alexandar patted her, he will be fine. Sophia is not like those people back then.

After much time spending time together, Alexandar finally decided to let the girls meet each other. Maybe, they will become friends. This would be Hikari's time to grow as well.

Alexandar should have expected this meeting to have gone awkwardly. Both Hikari and Sophia were silent as if they were lost in thoughts when he introduced them to each other. He had thought that they wouldn't get along. But little did he know that he needed to be away.

He was quite glad that they were friends with each other. They spent their time enjoying their company, Alexandar himself too. He never ever regretted this meeting that he made with Hikari and Sophia. His step-sister and his soon to be girlfriend had become best friends. They even made a duo on their own as they won their competition, which he never expected them to win. He has never even taught them any music tuning.

But however, fate took a reverse turn on his life forever.

Sophia was not the only one who noticed that someone was following her. He, too, had noticed it too. He didn't know why. He even tried to search for that stalker, but he disappeared without a trace. What could all of this mean? Why did someone have to follow him?

He never knew it at this point of time. However, the true disaster came.

The master's minions started to bother him. Demanding to return Hikari to them. He refused.

"Why do you want her? I thought we have agreed with your master to not bother us again, especially that I have bought her."
"The master wants you to hand her over to him now. I do not know why he wants that disgusting girl. But his orders are absolute!"

He fought them off on his own and quickly got back home. But, this was not a one-time incident. Every week, his men would threaten him to return Hikari over. But he would not hand her over. She was important to him. He values her as his own sister. He will not allow Hikari to be put into harm.

Hikari would come to find out about this messy matter. When she knew about it, she didn't want to allow him into danger because of her. She felt guilty that he was being threatened because of her that she wanted to surrender herself, but Alexandar refused.

"Hikari, from now on until we take care of this matter, I want you to stay at home. Don't let anyone else interfere with this matter."
"But… What about Sophia?"
"Sophia... must also not know of this too for her safety. We don't want her to be involved in this. This is only a matter between you, me and them."

They shut themselves off to everyone including Sophia. But even they knew that this must end one way or another.

They have decided to confront the master, intending to end this once and for all. In an abandoned warehouse, they met.

"My, my, I see that you finally decided to hand her over. I was being very patient with you."
"No, I will not hand her over. Leave us alone now or you will be sorry for threatening us!"
"A threat? You have gotten braver since years ago. But sorry, we want her dead. Leave or you will join her too."

A constant round of threats devolved into a fight. It was a mess. Alexandar and Hikari knew they wouldn't win, so they ran away when they were too tired to continue the fight. However, they couldn't run for long. They were trapped.

The next moment happened too fast for Hikari to catch on. Alexandar pushed her away as gunshots were heard. Blood was spilled on his shoulder as he told Hikari to run. But anger consumed the girl. They hurt him. They hurt someone that she cared about, who loved her, and got himself hurt for her.

As Hikari decided to fight back, they were both saved. The master and his men were being knocked unconscious. These saviours were the police who received a tip-off from someone unknown to them. She wanted to thank the person who called the police but he was nowhere to be found.

Nowhere to be found. Who was he?

After a month, Alexandar recovered from his injury from the gunshot. But, this was not over. He left Sophia in the dark for too long even after this messy incident was over. Hikari too did not tell this to Sophia. But she realized this mistake too late.

Sophia got too desperate to see Alexandar.

When Sophia called Hikari to meet with her alone, Alexandar never knew that this was the last time he would see her. The next phone call he received was from a hospital, informing him that Hikari was gone, and Sophia brought her to the hospital.

Alexandar ran to the hospital to check on Hikari, not believing this news that was revealed to him. When he finally saw HIkari, he desperately called her to wake up. He kept trying. But she never did.

He cried. Why did fate decide to take her life, after he tried so hard to protect her? He gave her a life that she could call it her own. To him, he saw her as his own light, his hope that he had someone to be with his side. Why did fate decide to torment him like this? No… the answer was clear. Sophia killed Hikari!

"It's all your fault, you killed her!" Alexandar roared at Sophia.
"I'm sorry, Alex-" Sophia tried to apologise
Alexandar slapped her.
"I didn't expect you to be like this… I thought we will be together… I hoped to be that way… But you killed her, YOU KILLED HIKARI!"
"Please… I didn't expect"
"We are done here. GET OUT, I do not want to see you again"

Sophia ran away in guilt. He thought that he had blown over some steam against her for causing her death. But… everything was not truly over.

In truth, he did not mean to say those words to Sophia. He was so angry at Sophia for causing Hikari's death that he refused to talk to her. Sophia wanted to call to apologise to him. She never expected to end things this way.

Each time, every call, he was being cold to her. Dismissive, he rejected her apology. Alexandar was caught up in his loss that he didn't realize what else he would lose.

Yes, he lost more than Hikari. The next thing he heard about Sophia was her suicide. Guilt for making a mess towards everyone's lives, including her own. What does he feel about this? Should he be happy that his step-sister's killer is dead or that his friend killed herself because of him?

At this moment, a call was what it took to realize his mistakes. He is to meet someone who knows and saved him. Why a call at this moment?

He met him. He calls himself Tenniel Liddell, who knew everything about him. His surname, was he and Sophia related?

"Yes, I am her older brother. I am here to talk about Sophia."
"She and I were no longer related to each other. Ever since she betrayed me."
"Betrayed? How exactly did she 'betray' you? Killing your sister Hikari? Don't make me laugh. If she did, then you betrayed her by abandoning her."
"No, she had it coming for her actions."
"Your problems started it all. What is your deal with the group of hooligans? Sophia was concerned for you. You shut yourself and your sister away from the world for what? Protection? You were being too selfish."
"This was my problem. It was her fault for being busy body."
"Sure she is being busy body, but she meant well. I admit not everything is your fault. She was being too obsessed with you and the girl. But have you considered her guilt and her feelings for you and Hikari?"
"Her feelings? She never"
"fell in love with you? She did. I don't blame you for being angry at her. I am in your shoes for losing my loved ones too. Sophia is dead because you pushed her away."
"Then what about you? You could have prevented her death yourself!"
"I was too late… I tried to stop her… This is my fault for not helping her. But, don't run away from your own fault. This was your fault. She wanted to apologise to you. But you coldly told her to give Hikari back with her own life. You incited her own death."
"What…"
"Perhaps you were too angry to realize this. Perhaps you didn't mean to say that. But, you lost everything that mattered to you, just like me. What are you going to do with it? Will you give Sophia back with your life?"

No response, Alexandar was stunned. His own words at Sophia fired back at him.

"Listen well, I will not demand you to pay me back with anything. She hurt you as you hurt her back. Revenge never ends well. I am not here for that. In a way, we are both even. But let me ask you a question, if you could turn back time, what would you have done to prevent all of this from happening? You don't have anyone because of your own failure to protect what's important to you, like me. But learn this, if you found someone that mattered to you, not just your family but your friends, what would you do to protect them even from yourself?"

Again, no response. It seems that his words got to Alexandar.

"You disappoint me. I don't need your answer. My question and your answer is meant for yourself. However, if we were to meet again, I want to hear your answer if you have decided." Tenniel said this as he walked away.

Words got through to him. Each day, he wondered what those words really meant to him. Alone, in this now lifeless home, he wished that he could get everyone he lost back. His parents, Hikari and Sophia. He wants them back. But he was incapable of keeping cursed himself for his failure to protect what mattered to him.

Eventually, he got over his despair by deciding to never have anyone be with him. He would only lose them in the end. He has to be a loner forever, to protect those from being lost from him. While he impressed many hearts of many women, he rejected anyone who proposed or confessed to him. He would rather break their hearts than to lose their lives because of his incapability.

He grew old, without anyone with his side. In the end, he was a well-known pianist whose music is unrivaled by anyone. As he thought of his life, he cried. He achieved his dreams but where was everyone who he wished they would be his side when he succeeded? Gone. He kept thinking about that man's words. Now he has his answer towards his question.

As his consciousness starts to fade away for good, he makes a wish on his own.

"If I could start everything over… Please, give me the strength to protect everyone that I love."

And so, this was the end of his story. I remembered his memories like my very own. I never knew why I chose his personality and form as I gained this vessel. Perhaps, it was a strategic choice to pick him to stop the girls from further conflict. Despite telling this truth to Hikari and Tairitsu, they still think of me as Alexandar.

I wish I could be him. But I am not. By wearing this form, I am only merely an imposter who wears his skin. But his emotions and memories influenced me too much. I only intended for these girls to stop harming this world. But as I journeyed together with them, I never expected myself to care for them to the extent of sacrificing myself. Did I even inherit his wish?

During my final moments, I could see it… Hikari's and Tairitsu's sadness as I couldn't move, as I slowly lose my consciousness. I really didn't like to see them like this because of me…

"I'm sorry… I couldn't be with you anymore… but at least… this is what he would have wanted me to do..." were my final words before I faded into darkness once again. I couldn't watch them finish their journey. But, I hope… they are able to stop that god and alter their fates before it's too late.

I never expected to wake up again, with Alexandar's figure once again. What happened while I was gone? Did the girls finally make it? I looked around this place. There were just buildings around this desolate area.

Where is everyone? There was nobody, not even the god. Did the girls manage to alter their fate? As I asked myself this question, the sky grew brighter. I saw a very familiar blonde girl, who wears a blue dress and has a blue bow rabbit attached to her cap. Time to find that answer myself. Not by asking the girl mind you, but seeing through the behaviours of the shards and its memories.

A/N: Sorry for taking so long to upload this! Before I'll talk about this chapter, I'll just like to say a few personal things first:

1. While writing this chapter, Microsoft Office had to expire on me… I should have expected that to happen because I officially graduated from my school in May (well, I started writing this right after I am completely finished with school). I guess that now I'll use Google Docs to replace Microsoft Word.

2. I can't believe I did not mention this in previous chapters but for those who played maimai/Chunithm, I hope you guys got basically everything from Arcaea Collab, BECAUSE I GOT EVERYTHING IN MAIMAI YES. As for chunithm, I got GL and Cyaegha. If I have another opportunity to play Chunithm again, I will focus on Arcaea Chapter 2 to get Arcahv and Last Celebration.

3. I fell sick on 1 July 2021 (which happened a week after 2. happened) when I found out that I had chicken pox. Right now, I am basically well and not infectious. But because of my sickness, my irl stuff got held back to october. I should be able to finish this fic before that month comes.

Alright, now with that out of the way, time to talk about the chapter itself:

There was a major focus on A-7 timeline in this chapter. This is because the other B chapters covered other act 2 chapters (Shirabe on A-8, Alice on A-6 and Tenniel covering basically every chapter besides A-7). So I covered slightly on A-6 and A-8 to cover this. As for A-9, I feel that it is rather important to cover what exactly happened to Hikari and Alexandar since this event was mentioned in Hikari's diary and what happened beyond A-9.

Alexandar is someone who cares too much on having someone on his side and blames himself for losing what is important to him. At first, he saw Hikari as a replacement for his parents (not in a parental way but someone as a companion) but overtime, he saw her as his sister. Because he only had Hikari, he never saw anyone else including Sophia as a companion too because he only focused on his family above everything else. But when he lost Hikari, he once again blamed himself for failing to protect Hikari and eventually got worse when Sophia suicided and Tenniel guilt tripped him (Tenniel was the one who called the police when Alexandar and Hikari had a fight with the master)

That doesn't mean he never cared for Sophia. He was rather shy to confess to her when he liked her. Sophia on the other hand, felt that she was not good enough (or in her words, not perfect enough) to be with him. They never knew their feelings repropricated save for Alexandar when it was too late.

It was a bad idea to have the master coming back again. There was really no reason to bring him back when they hated her so bad. I shouldn't have written that in A-9 which gave me a hard time to think about it. I should have given some other event that happened to Hikari and Alexandar instead to flow with Sophia's jealousy. This would have made more sense.

This will be the longest chapter I have written in this fic and it will stay that way. The last B chapter is completed and with this, the B chapters is completed. While Alexandar is dead because he protected Hikari and Tairitsu from the god's attack, he was revived and helped Alice recover the rest of her memories. This event is related only in one of the endings in this fic (obviously not "No different from back then" ending). In the next chapter, Hikari and Tairitsu will encounter the god in the Sky, the 'end' of the Arcaea. How will they fare against her who is ought to kill them? Let's not mention that they still have to destroy the last 'future' shard and they do not have much time to do so because that future is going to happen very soon if they fail.

4 chapters left (including the endings) to the end of this fic! If you read this far from V-4.5, thank you so much for reading this fic! I definitely appreciate you for reading this fic. I know I have made a lot of mess ups in this fic and some Arcaea lore that I should have read before writing this but I have gone too far to stop now. I may make a world explaining chapter after completing this fic to explain some parts of the fic. This chapter is too long… I will explain more of my writing plans in the final chapter of this fic.
