Bezu Fache was never a sociable man.

As a child he kept to himself, away from the other children. He was thought of as a loner by others, sometimes being the object of ridicule and cruel pranks. Eventually, young Bezu found it hard to trust the people around him, believing that the only person you could ever truly trust is yourself.

As he grew older, Bezu learned that one of the most important things you could have was a good reputation. People with good reputations were popular with other people. They weren't made fun of nor had cruel pranks pulled on them. They were well received and thought highly of. Yes, if he could have one wish, it would have been for a good reputation.

It is years later and now he is a grown man. Fache, working as a Captain of the DCPJ, has gained the reputation that he once yearned for when he was younger. He has even made a friend, or at least a close acquaintance through Jerome Collet, Fache's second in command.

Even so, Bezu Fache is still not a sociable man. At the end of the day, Fache returns home to his apartment. He opens the door and enters the darkness. He doesn't bother to turn on the lights; he knows his way around well enough. Fache comes home to a lonely place. There aren't any wives or children who come running up to him as he opens the door. There aren't even any pets that come up to him. No, all that greets Fache as he enters through the door is, darkness.

Times were changing though. Fache often found himself walking through the corridors of the French Police headquarters with a small, subtle smile on his face. Sometimes, there'd be days where he'd even be decent toward his coworkers. Now, Fache is a man with incredible pride. He did his best to suppress these awkward feelings inside and keep up his already established image everyone had of the Captain. Despite his efforts, from time to time, Fache would accidentally slip and smile at something that gave him joy, every time he saw her.

Although he knew he would never have her, Fache, though he'd never let himself admit it, couldn't help but feel she was what helped him stay afloat in his own sea of darkness.
