Brendan drove back to his job, he still had some time left before he had to clock back in from his break. He was sitting in his car in the parking lot and he decided to group call the girls.
"Hey babe, what's up?" asked Miriam.
"Yo," said Priya.
"What's up?" asked Abby.
"Guys, I've got some news about Mei...she's in the hospital right now," said Brendan with worry in his voice.
"Hospital?!" exclaimed Miriam.
"What happened?" asked Priya.
"Oh my goodness, I hope she's okay!" exclaimed Abby panicked.
"You're telling me, I hope she's okay also" replied Brendan.
Brendan was practically in tears over everything, he cared about Mei as a friend and didn't want anything bad to happen to her future kid.
Meanwhile back at the hospital, the doctor was still examining Mei's stomach, everyone was holding one another's hands. Everyone was fearing the worst. The doctor looked at the screen and soon smiled.
"There you are little one! Looks like we got a champion hide-and-seek player on our hands" chuckled the doctor locating Mei's baby.
Everyone breathed a collective sigh of relief.
"What a relief" sighed Tyler.
"I'll say," said Mei still holding his hand.
"Don't you all worry, this happens sometimes. Sometimes it's a sudden rush or sometimes you might feel stomach pain and get worried but don't, your baby is fine" smiled the doctor.
"Thank God" sighed Ming.
"I'll be right back, okay?" asked Tyler.
Tyler stepped outside into the hallway, he pulled his cellphone out and called Brendan who was walking into his job to go clock back in when he saw his phone ringing.
"Gimme good news man!" exclaimed Brendan.
"Mei and the baby are fine," said Tyler.
Brendan too let out a collective sigh of relief.
"That's good, what happened?" asked Brendan.
"Well, Mei was going through hormones and well she panda'd, and then when she got home she passed out and we thought she lost the baby" replied Tyler.
"Well thank God she didn't, give her my best okay because I gotta get back to work" replied Brendan.
"Will do man" replied Tyler.
Tyler hung his phone up and Brendan walking into the store placed another group call to the girls.
"Hey, so what happened?" asked Miriam.
"Well Mei had a little panda episode due to her hormones, she passed out when she got home and she initially thought she lost her baby but thankfully she and the baby are fine" smiled Brendan walking into the store and clocking in.
All the girls breathed a collective sigh of relief.
"Oh, thank goodness" sighed Miriam.
"Totally" added Priya.
"Glad she's okay" added Abby.
A few days later Mei was discharged from the hospital and was brought home by her mother. She was still a little shook up at the scare but was happy that her baby was okay. As Ming was driving she decided to strike up a conversation with her daughter.
"Well Mei-Mei I'm glad my grandchild is doing okay, hey if you don't mind me asking but have you picked out any names for the baby?" asked Ming.
"Well, Tyler and I were talking over the phone yesterday and we had a couple in mind" replied Mei.
"Well let's hear them" smiled Ming.
"Well...I was thinking if it were a girl I always liked the name Jade or Serena, but if it were a boy maybe Andrew or for some odd reason Tyler liked the name Vince because I guess of his favorite basketball player but I'm not a fan" replied Mei.
"Well they're all nice names and whatever you choose no matter what your baby is gonna be well spoiled" laughed Ming.
"I'm sorry who are you and what did you do with my mother?" chuckled Mei.
Ming had a good chuckle herself.
Meanwhile, Tyler had gone back to the store to finish his interview since he had to cut out early the other day due to Mei being hospitalized.
"Well, first of all, I want to say I'm very happy your girlfriend is doing well and secondly I wanted to say welcome aboard to the team" smiled the manager.
Tyler had a smile as long as the Grand Canyon on his face.
"Oh, thank you so much! I appreciate it!" exclaimed Tyler shaking the manager's hand.
"Start on Monday, nine o'clock sharp?" asked the manager.
"You got it! I'll be here!" exclaimed Tyler.
"Good, see you then" smiled the manager.
Tyler walked out of the office with his head held high, he was so excited that he got the job he could hardly contain himself. He went up to Brendan who was hanging some jerseys.
"Well looks like we're gonna be co-workers!" smiled Tyler.
"Sweet! I'm gonna guess you'll be in basketball since it's your forte but that's cool still. Welcome to the squad!" exclaimed Brendan.
"Appreciate you dude, I mean it man I couldn't ask for a better friend" smiled Tyler bumping Brendan's fist.
"Hey man, you're my bro and I know you'd do the same for me. Sure I'm public enemy number one with everyone else but I got you though" chuckled Brendan.
"My folks will come around" replied Tyler.
"I'm sure they will" replied Brendan.
Tyler headed home jumping for joy, happy he got his new job and was now able to support Mei, of course, it wasn't a glamorous and high-paying job but it was still a start. While he was walking home Mei was home with her mother watching their favorite soap opera when Mei's phone dinged, she picked it up and noticed it was a text from Tyler.
I got the job! Brendan put in a good word!
Mei replied.
That's so great babe! Congrats!
"Who was that?" asked Ming.
"Oh, it was Tyler he had aced his job interview" replied Mei.
"Oh, where will he be working?" asked Ming.
"It's this sporting goods store" replied Mei.
Ming wasn't too much a fan of where Tyler was going to be working since she knew that it wasn't a well-paying job but she didn't want to stress out her daughter.
"Well...that's...nice," said Ming with a bit of a fake smile.
"Yeah it is, I'm happy for him and also I'm going to be taking my classes online if that's okay," said Mei oblivious to her mother's fake smile.
"Of course sweetie, and you have free babysitters" chuckled Ming referring to her and Jin.
"That's always the best kind" smiled Mei.
"Oh, also I forgot to mention the wedding," said Ming.
"W-w-w-wedding?" stammered Mei.
"Well yes, remember we said you weren't having that baby out of wedlock, Tyler's mom and I were already planning things out...probably while you're in your second trimester," said Ming.
"Uhhhh..." said Mei in complete shock.
"I'm sorry I hadn't consulted you first, it was kind of a spur of the moment thing" replied Ming.
"Well...I guess..." sighed Mei not having a choice in the matter.
Tyler soon got home and laid down on his bed and looked at the ceiling, though everything was topsy-turvy with him soon going to be a father, things seemed like they were in place for him.
"Man, could life get any sweeter?" he asked himself.
Soon he got a text from Mei.
Oh, Tyler I'm gonna be taking online courses so that way we can be closer to each other if anything, and also...I don't know how you feel but my mother was talking about a wedding between us.
Tyler soon responded.
Already?
Mei responded.
Yeah, she doesn't want it out of wedlock but why don't we talk more later? I need a nap right now.
