Hey! So this is the first story I write in English. It's an AU and pretty OOC.

I hope you like it, it got me through these months of waiting.

Some parts of the story are written from Kim's pov and other parts are from Adam's.

Let me know if you have any suggestions or constructive criticism, in always open to that.

Enjoy!

Do you think that it's possible for your life to take a 180 degree turn in record time? Well, maybe you should consider it as a possibility because mine did.

Don't get me wrong, I always thought I had a pretty amazing life, I have a super cute apartment, I love my job, my boss and team are amazing, the best part is that I get to share all that with my best friends, and I have a pretty amazing boyfriend… or so I thought.

Monday was a pretty light day, that doesn't happen often in the city of Chicago. I was in the locker room getting my stuff together when someone came in.

"Hey, Burgess… we're hitting up the gym, wanna come with us or do you have plans already?"

I smiled as I heard Kevin's voice, he always tried to tag me in in all his plans. Kev's one of my best friends, more like a brother in the 21st, I know he has my back and I have his, no questions asked.

"I do have plans, but later tonight. I can totally go with you guys. I really wanna practice my left hook, it still sucks".

Ever since the guys took me to the boxing gym, especially Antonio, I became obsessed with it and it was pretty helpful in my line of work. Sometimes knowing how to throw a proper punch comes in handy when you're chasing the bad guys.

I wasn't looking at him, my head was in my locker gathering some things, but I knew he was smiling.

"Great! Ruze and I can help with that. We'll meet you in the parking lot and then drive to the gym".

"Sure, Kev. Sounds like a plan, I'll be downstairs in 10".

Kev nodded and left the locker room as I was finishing getting ready.

So, Atwater, Ruzek and I were pretty tight. The whole unit was like family, but us three?, we really clicked together. Jay and Erin were amazing and great to hang out with, but them being a couple meant that sometimes they just wanted to spend some time on their own, and who am I to judge that?

Erin and I had a great relationship, we talked about almost anything and every now and then we had our girl nights only. It's pretty fun, and having a girlfriend in this men-lead job is the best thing that can happen.

There's also Rojas, I completely count her as part of the family although she's not with intelligence all the time. She's a team player and an amazing asset to the unit, not to mention I think that Atwater has a massive crush on her.

And then there's Ruzek.

He's funny, kind, a great cop and he's my current partner, we are a kick ass team by the way. Just like it happens with Atwater, I know that Ruzek and I have each other's backs.

"It's about time"

I could recognize Adam's whining from miles away.

"Oh, come on! It wasn't that long".

I shot back quickly as I walked to my car, all of our cars being parked next to each other, yeah I know… we're kind of pathetic sometimes.

"So Kev tells me you wanna practice your left hook, huh? Anyone in particular you wanna hit?" Adam asked playfully.

"It's probably you dawg. Must be hard being stuck with you all day long".

"You've got that right!" I answered Kev while giving him a fist bump.

"Ha ha, very funny, you both love being stuck with me. Just get in your cars and let's go. I need to release some energy right now". That was very true about Adam, he has so much energy I have no clue where he stores it all. He's always jumping up and down the place.

We spent close to an hour and a half at the gym, it was definitely the best way to end the day.

"Burgess you're getting good, I kinda feel bad for the poor guy who's gonna get his ass kicked by you" Adam always liked to lift up my spirits.

"Shut up" I replied with a faint blush on my cheeks, I couldn't see it but I could feel the red on my face.

"He's right, girl!" Kevin said as he came close to me and pulled me in for a one armed hug. "Ruze, you up for a beer?"

"I'm always up for that bro" Adam was quick to reply. And it was so very true, he never hesitated if the plan was friends and beer. "You coming?"

He looked straight into my eyes, I kind of felt his eyes piercing my soul. I've always felt a connection with him, but never like this, it threw me off completely. I have no clue how long I was silent for, but thankfully Atwater answered for me.

"She can't bro, she has plans" I could hear the tone when he said plans making the a sound longer and childish, he was totally teasing me. "Come to think of it, didn't you have plans too?" Kev finished off.

"I didn't make any plans, Wendy did. I'm not really in the mood, I cancelled already. So yeah, I'm down for that beer." Adam talked as he put all his stuff back into his duffel bag.

"What's wrong? Trouble in paradise?" Adam let go a small chuckle as he looked at me while most of his attention was still in his stupid bag.

"Hmm, let's just say that I'm not so sure it's paradise anymore. How about you? date night?" He seemed to be interested in my plans, but then again we always shared everything, all three of us.

"Yeah, Sean had a late shift today, so we're grabbing late dinner" I answered with a shy smile.

"Lemme guess, you're taking the dessert?"

The tone Kevin used to make that comment made me blush, full on, burning cheeks blush.

"Keeviiin" I shot back, but I could hear both my bros laughing.

"The man's got a point" Adam continued while pointing at Kev "Roman is one lucky bastard to date you."

"You guys are just saying that because you're my friends" I stopped talking and waited for the guys that were walking a few steps behind me, we were heading out already. "But yeah, he is pretty lucky" I said, playing and being all cocky, something I definitely learned from Adam.

"Damn right girl!" Kevin hi-fived me "Ok, I'll send a group text to see if anyone else wants to hit Molly's with us".

Adam looked at Kevin and nodded "Sure bro. I'll stop at home for a shower and I'll meet you at Molly's. Have fun partner" he winked at me when he said the last part of that sentence.

"Don't have too much fun Burgess, we have to work tomorrow."

"Shut up Kev!" I answered him with a smile on my face trying to contain the laughter, "Have Fun guys. See you tomorrow".
