Disclaimer: I don't own TBBT and Young Sheldon
Shoe store
Sheldon is sitting on a chair, viewing the magazines; the clerk walks over and said: "Okay, I don't have the Sperry loafers in your size, but I do have the Hush Puppies in your size."
"Well, I don't wear brown Hush Puppies penny loafers; I wear brown Sperry penny loafers." Sheldon replied.
"But they're exactly the same." The clerk said.
"Do they come in a box that says Sperry penny loafers?" Sheldon said, "Because the one you're holding says Hush Puppies."
Mary saw what happened, walked over and said: "Just try them on, honey."
"What if I like them?" Sheldon asked.
"Well, we will buy them." Mary replied.
"Okay, for the last time, I don't wear Hush Puppies penny loafers, I wear…"
"Could you give us a minute?" Mary said to the clerk.
"Happily." The clerk answered.
Mary was just about to trying persuade Sheldon, a blonde woman walked over, "Hi, Mary." She greeted.
Mary recognizes her as Linda, Paige's mom. "Hi, Linda, so good to see you." Mary answered.
Paige is just after Linda, "Hi Sheldon." She said.
"Hello, Paige." Sheldon answered coldly.
"Hi, Missy." Paige waved at her.
"Hi!" Missy said in excitement, "Look at these rain boots, they have docks on them, and they're wearing boots."
"So cute!" Paige exclaimed, run towards her to see those boots.
"Well, what are you doing here?" Linda asked Mary.
"Now?" Mary said, "Try to get Sheldon into trying these loafers, but these are not the ones he wants."
"Oh, is that so?" Linda said.
"You know what, I think these brand are the same kind Einstein wore." She said to Sheldon.
Sheldon thought for a moment, said: "Well, I've never seen a picture of his feet, but you're a grown-up, so you won't lie to me. So, okay, I'll try them on."
"Excellent!" Mary said, giving him the shoes, "Thank you." She whispered to Mary.
Missy and Paige walked over, "Mom, can Missy and I go to Hello Kitty store." Paige asked.
"Well, I'm okay if Mary is okay." Linda said.
"Sure, go ahead, but I need you on your best behavior." Mary said to Missy.
"I will, I promise." Missy said, walked out of the store with Paige.
Sheldon walked around wearing his new loafers, Mary asked: "How does it feel?"
"Well, my loyalty to the original brand is under severe testing." Sheldon answered.
In the car
On their way home, Missy said: "Do you guys know that Paige can speak 3 kinds of languages?"
"Well, that's pretty impressive." Meemaw answered.
"You only speak one." Missy said to Sheldon.
"Two actually, I'm learning how to speak Klingon." Sheldon replied.
"Well, that's pretty impressive too." Meemaw said.
"Hey, mom." Missy asked, "Can Paige sleep over this weekend?"
"I guess." Mary answered, "If her mother says yes."
"If she's coming, where's she going to sleep?" Sheldon asked.
"Your bed, you can sleep on the couch." Missy replied.
"Absolutely not! I've already changed my brand of loafers, I'm not changing my sleep quarters." Sheldon said firmly.
"How about you stay at Meemaw's house, you love that." Missy asked.
"No!" Meemaw said, "Your Meemaw will be having a date tonight."
"So?" Missy asked in confuse.
"So if the shoes I just bout do their jobs, that night will be a 'No Children Allowed' scenario." Meemaw answered.
"Fine!" Missy said, "Paige and I could share my bed."
"Are you okay with that, Shelly?" Mary asked.
Sheldon thinks for a moment, asked: "Can I trust you two to stay quiet and un-disturbing all night long, and go to sleep at the right time?"
"I promise." Missy said.
"Good, then I'm okay with it." Sheldon said.
"Oh, dear lord, how's he ever going to survive in this world?" Meemaw mumbles.
Sheldon felt confused about what Meemaw has just said.
This Weekend, Morning
"Hello, welcome, come on in." Mary opened the door and let Linda and Paige come in the house.
"You look nice." Mary looks at Linda, "Going out with your husband."
"Ugh, no." Linda shows a disgusted face, "Going out with girlfriends."
Paige walks towards Sheldon, who is sitting by the window, doing his homework. "What are you doing?" She asked.
"Chemistry homework for extra credit." Sheldon said.
"Cute, I did that last year."Paige said.
Sheldon stops and stares at Paige, though he didn't see his own eyes, but he's pretty sure that he gives Paige an "I'm gonna kill you" look.
"Paige!" Missy runs out and yells happily.
"Missy!" Paige run towards her, they hugged together in happiness.
"Aww, aren't they sweet?" Mary said.
"Yeah, soon life will suck these joys right out of them." Linda said, "Well, goodbye."
"Okay, bye." Mary said in a little awkward.
Dinner Time
Sheldon is walking to the dining room, then he saw Missy and Paige is walking to the garden. "What are you two doing?" Sheldon asked.
"Your mom is letting us having a picnic outside." Paige answered, "Do you want to come?"
"Eating out doors?" Sheldon said, "Do I look like a hippie to you?"
"Don't even try it." Missy said to Paige, "Mom and dad give up the idea of letting him eat outside years ago."
Paige thinks for a moment, said to Sheldon: "You know, Stephen Hawking once said in a lecture, that eating, reading or walking out doors can enhance a man's chances of getting scientific discovery."
Sheldon stares at Paige, said: "I don't believe you."
"Can you really take that chances?" Paige said, "Or you just want to be a normal scientist who has nothing to achieve for the rest of your lives?"
Sheldon thinks for a moment, said: "Fine."
When they're walking out, Missy whispered: "Is that true?"
"No idea." Paige whispered back, "But he'll believe in anything when you put Stephen Hawking in it."
At last, Sheldon went out, but carries a small bug spray with him.
When they're eating outside, Missy had too much tea and had to go into the house for bathroom. Just then, Paige asked Sheldon: "Do you know tea's discovery is an accident?"
"Yes." Sheldon said, "When Ancient China Emperor Shennong is boiling water in his garden, the leaf from tea trees fell into his pot, thus became tea."
"Yeah." Paige said in smile, "Someone believes after his discovery of tea, Shennong made it an antidote for poison."
"Well, if that's true, then it clearly didn't work, otherwise he won't be killed by gelsemium elegans." Sheldon said.
Paige laughs, said: "Yeah, I guess you're right."
"This is fun." Paige suddenly said, "I like spending time with you."
"Well, thanks." Sheldon said, "I always has my charm around people."
Paige chuckles a little, just then, Missy came out.
The picnic end pretty fun, well, for Paige and Missy at least, an ant crawled up on Sheldon's arm, he screams in horror for over a minute, swears to never eat outside ever again.
After dinner, Paige, Sheldon and Missy went back to bedroom, Sheldon begin to work on his computer, while Paige and Missy begin to playing a game.
"Okay, choose a color." Paige said to Missy.
"Pink." Missy answered quickly.
"Okay, choose a number." Paige said again.
"Three." Missy said.
"One, two, three." Paige moved the paper for three time, takes out a note, said: "Okay, the name of your future pony is, Sparkle Sunshine!"
"I would totally name it that!" Missy exclaims.
"Oh, dear lord." Sheldon mumbles.
"Hey, Sheldon, do you want have your future read?" Paige asked.
"No, and I can't believe that someone as smart as you is doing this, it's so immature." Sheldon said.
"Why? It's fun." Paige said.
"It's stupid." Sheldon said, "And why on earth would someone name their pet Sparkle Sunshine?"
"You never know how to have fun." Missy said, "You look young, but you're old, old man."
"I'm not an old man!" Sheldon said angrily.
"Really? Then what's your favorite color?" Missy asked.
"Khaki." Sheldon said.
"Old man." Missy concluded.
Night
After night comes, Sheldon went to bed at 9:30, as usual. While Paige and Missy build a fort on their bed, and begin to play inside. Sheldon is lying on his bed, hears the laughter and playing noise coming from beside him, "I'm trying to sleep." He said tiredly.
"Come here and play with us." Paige said.
"Are you crazy, it's my bed time." Sheldon said.
"Don't invite him." Missy said, "This is a girl's fort, not an old man fort."
"I'm not an old man, I'm only 10 years old." Sheldon said.
"More like 110 years old." Missy said.
"You know, I've read an article on an magazine." Paige said, "That says children who grow up without interacting with people of his age, can grow up be eccentric."
"You're making that up." Sheldon said, "I'm also suspecting you make up that Stephen Hawking lecture."
"Young People Psychology, issue 150, page 63." Paige said, "Find it yourself."
"I will." Sheldon said.
They stopped talking, Sheldon gradually drift to sleep, but when he fell asleep, besides what Paige just said, another question is haunting him, why does it bothers him this much when Paige is acting childish? Why does he even care?
Sheldon suddenly found himself is in front of a table, he looks before him, and found out in shock that Dr. Sturgis is sitting in front of him.
"Hello, Dr. Sturgis." Sheldon said.
"Well, hello to you to, Sheldon." Dr. Sturgis replied.
"Is this a dream?" Sheldon asked.
"Well, I think that's a very valid proposal." Dr. Sturgis replied.
"So you're not really here." Sheldon said.
"No, but I can still help you." Dr. Sturgis said, "You do have a problem in your mind, doesn't it?"
"Yes." Sheldon said, "Paige said children who doesn't interact with people of his age will grow up and become eccentric, I'm a little worry about that, what if I never made more friends?"
"Listen to me, Sheldon." Dr. Sturgis said, "In your whole life, people have called you wield, but, let them have it. Don't change who you are because of someone else, be yourself, eventually, you'll find someone like you, who will genuinely like you because who you are. After all, there are billions of people on this planet; you'll sure find friends one day."
"Wow. Thank you." Sheldon said, "This is helpful."
"Pleasure to help." Dr. Sturgis said, "But, this isn't your only question, isn't it?"
"Well, it isn't." Sheldon said, "Paige is acting like a child, I think I wouldn't care, but I do, and I'm confused of why does it bothers me this much."
"Let us see." Dr. Sturgis said, "I do have an assumption, that is, Paige is the first people you met in your life who you can relate, you both are smart child. So, maybe you saw her as the first of your true friends."
"Paige is not my friend." Sheldon denied, "She is more like my arch-nemesis, like Superman and Lex Luthor."
"Okay, let's continue." Dr. Sturgis said, "So, when she's no longer acting like the super-intellectual child who you can feel relate to, you became worried because you fear that you will lose her."
"Hmm, maybe you do have some point." Sheldon said, "So, how do I fix it?"
"Well, maybe you can go and talk to her about this." Dr. Sturgis said, "See how'll she react."
"Thank you, Dr. Sturgis." Sheldon said, "You're very helpful."
"Well, in the end, Sheldon, I'm just a projection of your sub-conscious, so it's you helped yourself." Dr. Sturgis said.
"Hmm, I guess you're right." Sheldon said, "Good for me."
Sheldon wakes up, Mary is beside him. "Mom, where's Paige?" Sheldon asked.
"Paige?" Mary said, "She left like an hour ago, what's the matter, Shelly? Do you have something to say to her?"
"Oh, it's nothing." Sheldon said, "Never mind."
Sheldon Lee Cooper chickened out, why? He doesn't know, maybe he's worrying about how she'll react, maybe he decides it's not that a big a deal after all. No one but himself knows the reason.
