Dragon Warriors
in Blind Trust
In East Liverpool, the city is being attacked by a pack of Whispering Deaths.
Connor and Vault blocked their attacks, then one appeared and it blasted rings of fire, but the duo avoided the fire.
Then Shade flew by and blasted at the dragon, after that it digs underground to escape.
"Be careful guys!" Connor called out. "The Whispering Death can attack us from underground!" he said.
"Then we get to higher ground," said Vault, and the Warriors got on their dragons and they flew up.
That's when the dragons came back up, then the Whispering Deaths glared at the Warriors while they spin their teeth.
Just as the Warriors were about to face them in the sky, they heard someone.
"Hello? Could you tell me where I am? I'm lost! Somebody must have taken me from my bed while I was sleeping because I woke up not far from here!" Judging by the voice it was a girl.
They all looked down and spotted, a little girl with light brown hair, tied in a ponytail. She wore a pair of suspended jeans, a striped yellow-green t-shirt, and white shoes.
Then one Whispering Death dive down to attack her, but Bomber bit its tail which causes it to roar in pain.
While the Deaths were distracted, Claudia saved the girl.
"OK girls, light'em up!" yelled Connor, as Alicia and Prim nodded in agreement.
Then Smoke sprayed the Deaths and Flame ignited the gas. As the Deaths couldn't stand the burn on their scales, they dig down to escape.
After the dragons retreated, the Warriors landed to see if the girl was alright.
"Are you alright little one?" asked Claudia.
"Yeah, I'm fine." said the little girl.
"What's your name?" asked Alicia.
"My name is Kelly Sombermayer." The young maiden responded as asked.
"Where do you come from?" she said to Kelly.
"Brooklyn! My caretakers said it's a city in a big country called America! What's your name?"
"My name's Connor Nickell, and these are my friends. Vault, Grave, Alicia, Prim, Maia, Luu Luu, Claudia, and Kaguya. And we're the Dragon Warriors." Connor introduced.
"Dragon Warriors! That's silly!" Miss Sombermayer giggled merrily putting her hand on her mouth.
"It's not silly, it's true! Have you never seen one before?" Maia raised her brow.
"I have been on a pony farm once! I touched the snout and mane of one, but I never got to see it!"
"How come?" Maia said to Kelly.
"I was born so I can only see black."
This was the moment when it dawned upon the Warriors. These blues eyes of hers! They were just looking into space where Maia was supposed to be, without seeing! No wonder her pupils didn't react to Claudia's movements! To completely confirm it, Vault waved his hand in front of the kid's face. No reaction!
"Are you blind?" asked Vault.
"Yes!" Kelly answered with the most straightforward and earnest of voices.
Later, the Warriors took Kelly with them and visited Charles at his new castle.
"So, you're blind?" said Charles.
"I said yes. I can't see! I've only come to rely on my senses of hearing and smell. My caretakers also said I'm very smart for a 6-year-old girl. As I mention, I only know what the color black is." The little girl demonstrated her intelligence with her rich vocabulary.
"YOU"RE SIX?" William said in astonishment. But then something also clicked his mind. "Caretakers?"
"Yes... you see, I'm an orphan." Kelly's face darkened a bit by her statement.
"Oh... that's... so not cool! What happened?" asked Luu Luu.
"My Mommy died of a sickness and before that my Daddy left for somewhere. One time when she was still alive I heard my mommy crying and she told me that he didn't love us anymore. Nobody wanted me after I lost them both so I was taken to the orphanage." she said.
A couple of tears fell down from the maids. This child! She had such a cruel fate!
Just then Kelly's hand wrapped itself across Shade's paw, gently caressing it.
"What are you doing?" Connor questioned.
"May I touch their faces? That's how I can get to know what things look like. The way, I see!"
"Sure!" he said to Kelly.
Now with both hands on the dragon's face, Kelly started running them across it. She felt the deep chin, moving up to the snout, feeling the Night Fury's warm breath. The miss was surprised when she got to the other dragons.
The dragons enjoyed the smooth touch of the hands. That is until Shade nearly got chocked by an immense hug that came right after!
"A DRAGON!" Kelly rejoiced, full of pleasant surprise. "Oh, I wasn't sure of it until I touched their faces!"
"That's probably how things work here now in East Liverpool!" said Maia.
"East Liverpool?" the little lady tilted her head.
"Yeah! That's where you are Kelly!" Alicia confirmed with a nod.
"I'm... in another city?" Miss Sombermayer took some seconds to process this through. "That's... so... Awesome! Sweet Miracle of miracles! Not only do I wake up in another place but I make new friends who're like angels and this whole city is full of dragons! It's like Magic!" The overexcited kid hopped and pranced around gaily.
The Warriors blushed a little from being called "Angels".
Meanwhile, at the cave, Gorg was telling the recent attack to Origa.
"The Warriors defeated the Whispering Deaths with the Zippleback's attack," Gorg informed Origa. "And I've also spotted a little girl during the attack." he finished.
"I know, I brought her here," said Origa, which confuses Gorg.
"I'm a little lost, why brought her here?"
"Because she's the perfect human to help me dispose of the Dragon Warriors, and without their sight, they are nothing." Origa grinned.
Back at the castle, the Warriors explained their story to Kelly about how they went to East Liverpool, meeting friends from other dimensions, and their battle with Origa.
"Hey, Kelly! I think this is yours!" Luu Luu suddenly intervened, taking out the violin and handing it to Kelly.
"My violin! I thought I'd never see it again! It has my name engraved on its back in both English and Braille!" The pale kid showed to everybody both her own name written in letters from the alphabet and the distinctive pattern of it in Braille, the English inscription saying "Kelly Sombermayer".
"I know, Why don't you play us something? If you would like that, I know I sure would!" Beardsley changed the subject. He was hoping that all this oppressive atmosphere would be lifted by some nice music. Little did he know that his hopes were about to be dashed.
"Oh, okay!" The 6-year-old maiden tuned her instrument and put it under her chin, softly putting the bow on the strings. "When I want to express myself and my feelings, I sometimes go up in the attic and play this piece. It's called Adagio in G-minor by ALbinore. I hope you like it."
It was a multi-instrumental piece really, but she filled all the blanks left by the organ by improvising. The notes came out by the bow's gentle strokes, striking deep as the gentle melody progressed. It was as graceful as a calm and flowing stream, but with incredibly emotional value of a thundering rapid in monsoon season, its tragic undertone, plucking each one of the group's heartstrings. A sound representing forlornness and pain, a person left without a purpose in this cruel world, yet this individual expressed a certain feeling of expectance as if waiting for something, even if the person had to wait for it till the end of days, a feeling of hope clearly lingering...
Eventually, tears started flowing down her face, profusely, like the river itself. At the end of the melody became a bit violent as if to scream out from all the accumulated suffering and all the frustration that came with it.
"I'm sorry guys... I always get emotional when I play this. Perhaps I should've played something different..." The girl wiped her eyes putting on her best smile to try and compensate for the saddening impact of the song.
However, by the muffled sounds, the string player could tell that she had deeply upset her friends.
"Oh, no! I'm sorry to have made you all cry! I didn't mean to really! Please forgive me, I..." The child had no time to say anymore as she felt everyone in this room embrace her in a tight all-encompassing group.
"You don't need to feel alone anymore! Now you have lots of friends around you! You have us!" Kaguya smiled faintly.
"Yes! That most certainly wasn't my best suggestion. You're probably said because you miss everybody at the orphanage." said Beardsley.
"No, I do not!" Kelly answered quickly, like pulling the trigger of a gun.
"Huh?" The Warriors exclaimed in unison, baffled at this statement.
"I play those songs because I didn't like it in the orphanage! All the kids there were cruel to me!"
"Through what kind of a dreadful life have you gone, dear?" Claudia inquired.
"Yeah, tell us your story!" William demanded, wanting answers as well.
One quick introduction about how our new friend became parentless and ended up for adoption later and Kelly proceeded with describing her days at the orphanage and all her most unpleasant of experiences with the other children there:
"I never liked how the other kids treated me. They always made fun of my lack of sight, mocked me, played mean jokes on me like moving the stool away before I could sit down, changing the furniture around so I would hit my head everywhere I went, they stole my clothes and switched them with the most ridiculous of outfits. But that's just the start... They called me names such as Blind Fanny, No Eye Kelly, Klutzy Kelly, Can't see Kelly, Blind as a Bat, and Blue Eyed Freak."
"The caretakers punished them a couple of times but that only made them resentful and they were even more relentless, so I eventually stopped asking for help... My violin, the only thing that brought me peace, besides reading, I always kept it in a locked drawer with the assistance of one of my caretakers and only took it out when the other kids went on a trip somewhere outside, so I often missed out a lot of events. I often dream of getting out of there but nobody has adopted me yet. I think it might be because they don't want me because I'm blind." She finished up her story, filled with gloom and discouragement.
"Why those good for nothing... If I were there to knock'em down, they'd get some marks," said Vault.
"We understand how you feel. But it is because you've never met others to tell you what a wonderful child you are." Celestine wrapped her arm around the girl's waist.
"I can't thank you enough for all the things You're doing for me. I... i... I dunno what to say!" Kelly wiped another tear out of her eye.
"You know, I watched videos of people making advanced goggles for the blind, so they can see." Connor spoked.
"Yeah. And I heard they create chemicals to help blind people as well, at least that's what I thought." Luu Luu said.
"Well, there are a few chemicals that could help the blind, and there in Planet Government." Vault sighed.
And those chemicals are in Planet Government, but Jonathan won't help because he's not easy to convince, and he doesn't trust the Warriors.
"Why don't we go to the park, I'm sure Kelly will love it," said Prim.
Later, the Warriors took Kelly to the park, where she is being guided by Shade. He led her to the swings and she got on.
"Have you ever played in a swing before?' Luu Luu Joined in.
"Yeah, it's kinda exciting," Kelly answered. "It's like I'm on a rollercoaster," she said.
Then a girl with brown hair came, she wears a pink dress and a purple skirt with stripes, and then she got on one of the swings.
"Hey, are you one of the Dragon Warriors," the girl said.
"Yeah. And who might you be?" said Luu Luu.
"I'm Crystal. And what's your name?"
"My name is Kelly Sombermayer." Kelly introduced herself.
"Yeah. We met her when we were fighting an army of Whispering Deaths, she told us she was an orphan," said Luu Luu.
"I was an orphan too," Crystal said. "People see me and feel bad for me... they sometimes give me some food... but not all the time... But they don't feel bad enough to give me a home..." she said.
"That's when Twilight took me in."
"As in Twilight Sparkle of the Rainbooms," Luu Luu answered.
"Yeah. She and her friends play with me all the time, especially Pinkie Pie. We bake pies, cookies, and cakes. What kind of icing and toppings do you like."
The question triggered one of the child's most pleasant memories. She recalled how two years ago, while on a trip around town, she got separated from the group. After a lot of crying and aimless sauntering, a group of bakers noticed her and brought her to their bakery. Specializing in sweet pastries, they gave the kid a seat, calmed her down with kind words and lots of cake and ice cream. Once they got her to tell the name of the orphanage, the kind people quickly found it in the phone book and called her caretakers. Needless to say, Sister Ann was relieved to find our heroine safe and well, and warmly thanked the generous people. Yes! That was the first and only time she got to taste what things such as these were like.
"I like biscotti cake with whipped cream icing and caramel topping." Kelly returned to reality.
But that was short-lived when armored dragons came, and with them are Origa, Troox, and his soldiers.
"What's going on?!" Kelly asked fearfully.
"It's Origa, run!" yelled Crystal, and she ran.
Luu Luu tried to attack them with her ax, but she was run over by the goblins.
"Hey! Check it out, that girl's blind!" a goblin said, then the other goblins began to laugh at her.
"I bet she has no idea what she's gonna do next,"
"It's her," Troox spoked. "It's the girl Origa wanted," he said to his soldiers.
"Who are you?" Kelly asked. Then she began touching Troox's face, and he removed her hands in annoyance.
"It's her alright."
Then Origa walked toward to confront her.
"Hello little girl, I am Origa Discordia queen of the dark elves. I have brought you here to this city to aid me." Origa said to Kelly.
"Why do you want my help?" questioned Kelly. Then Origa smirked.
"Because I want to render the Dragon Warriors blind, it's all because of your own blindness, that's why I have brought you here so I can destroy them," she said.
"We don't think so, Origa!" she turned and spotted the Warriors in their Eostia clothing.
Connor began clashing at Origa, but Origa blocked his sword. She tried to kick him, but Connor blocked it.
The Warriors are fighting the goblins, while their dragons are fighting the armored dragons, and Kelly began to hide.
"Even for a child, she really knows how to hide herself," said Origa, and she knocked Connor down.
Then she uses her staff and she aims it at Kelly, and the magic struck he eyes, and then it struck Kaguya's eyes as well.
And once she opens her eyes, her pupils are now blue. Now Kaguya shares Kelly's blindness.
"Ogres!" Gorg appeared. "Attack!"
Then the ogres came and are about to attack Kaguya. One ogre grabbed his sword, but it was blocked by Kaguya's sword.
"What the-," the ogre questioned.
"I do not need my eyes to see, I need to rely on my other senses," said Kaguya.
Then she punched the ogre, and the other ogres began to attack. And with her ears, she can hear their movements.
Kaguya blocked their attacks and starts fighting them, she even avoided them, until she got on Yusha.
"Yusha! Attack!"
Then Yusha fired her spikes, and the monster started to dodge them.
"Alright Warriors, let's go!" yelled Connor
Then their dragons blasted at the armored dragons, since they couldn't breathe fire while being blasted, the armored dragons retreated and so did the monsters.
"You have skills Shrine Maiden, but you won't be so lucky this time," said Origa, and she uses her staff to escape.
"Kaguya are you alright?" Connor said to Kaguya.
"Yes, I'm alright. It appears I'm like Kelly now," said Kaguya.
When there is no more danger, Crystal embraced Twilight.
"Thank you for saving Crystal," said Twilight.
"Hey don't mention it, at least we saved the park," said Maia.
"Yeah, but now Kaguya is blind now." Luu Luu spoke. "And there is nothing we can do to help her now." she frowned until Celestine came.
"Actually Luu Luu, there is one way you can help," said Celestine and she turned to Kelly. "Kelly, how would you like to be able to see through your eyes." Celestine made her proposal as if it was the simplest thing in the world.
As these words left her mouth, all who heard her gasped rather noisily. Every pair of eyes were now upon the High Elf, their pupils have shrunk into pinpricks.
Later at Charles' castle, the Warriors were getting nervous about all of this.
"Are you sure about this?" questioned Vault.
"Yes, trust me," said Celestine.
Kin flipped through the pages and conjured a spell, the magic covered Kaguya and Kelly, and once it's done Kaguya got her sight back.
"OK Kelly, you can open your eyes," Celestine said to Kelly.
Then Kely opened her eyes, and to her surprise, is color. For the first time, she's seeing colors, the throne room, the dragons, and her friends.
"I can see..." said Kelly with tears of joy. "I can see..."
"Yes Kelly, you can see." said Celestine. "then Kelly embraced Celestine's waist.
"Thank you! Thank you, Celestine!" said Kelly.
"Alright everyone, let's celebrate!" said Charles. Then everyone cheered as they begin to celebrate Kelly's new sight.
