Disclaimer: I own nothing except my imagination.
I walked out of the bathroom and stepped back into his room while I was pulling the ponytail high up on my head. He looked so adorable asleep. To be fair, he always looked adorable, except when he was looking hot as the hell. That's how I saw him, anyway.
Oh gosh, I'm so falling for this guy.
Actually, that's a pretty stupid thing to say. Who am I kidding? I already fell for him. Hard. The thought of that scares the crap out of me. But I also think every ounce of fear in my body is worth it, because everything that he makes me feel is nothing like anything I've lived, felt, or experienced before.
I went to grab one of the sweatshirts he had lying around, I needed something warm and comfy to face the morning.
Before I left the room to get myself a cup of coffee I turned to get another look at him. He was on his back with the comforter only covering up to his waist. His hair was standing up in all directions and the sunlight that was creeping in through the curtains was hitting his face. His eyes were squinting and, was that a smile on his face?
"What are you doing out of bed?" He asked with his eyes still closed.
"Atwater has been blowing up my phone, and I couldn't go back to sleep. I thought about waking you up, but you looked like you needed the rest."
"After last night, I think I could even use a couple of days off, too." He got out of bed and walked towards me wrapping his arms around my waist and pressing his lips against mine. "Good morning."
"Good morning." I smiled. I know I look incredibly stupid, but I can't help similing everytime I see him. "Sorry I took one of your hoodies without asking."
"You know I love it when you wear my clothes." He left a soft kiss on my neck and then walked away to get something to wear. "So, what did Kevin want? Do we have an emergency case or something?".
"No, just checking on me. Find out why I missed yesterday's toast at Molly's." I could hear Adam's laughter from the bathroom. "What?"
"I just pictured his face if he really knew what you were doing last night." I could feel my cheeks blushing with the memories of last night.
"So, what did you tell him?"
"Well, 'I was banging Ruzek' was not an option."
"Burgess, that's almost offensive." He said as he came out of the bathroom with a pair of jeans on and no shirt. I think he really likes being half naked and testing my self control skills. "First of all, we didn't bang," He said that last word scrunching up his face, "we made love." He closed his eyes and acted all polite as he corrected me, making me chuckle. "And second of all, we're back to last names now? I kinda liked it last night when you called me baby." He winked and leaned in to peck my lips.
I knew saying that was going to come back to bite my ass at some point.
"You just called me Burgess." I rolled my eyes at him.
"Sorry darlin', it won't happen again." He pecked my lips again before he went on. "It might probably happen again though. It kind of turns me on when we talk to each other like that."
I bit my lower lip and shook my head.
"You're such an idiot." Now it was me cupping his face between my hands and kissing him.
"Anyway, I just told Kev I was tired." Adam laughed again.
"It didn't seem like it."
"Stop that." I replied giggling.
"You know at some point he's gonna do the math and realize that we're seeing each other."
"I know. But we can deal with that when it actually happens." I kissed him again. I just couldn't help myself. "Do you want some coffee?" I knew coming out as an actual couple was something that we needed to address eventually. But making it official scared me. I was terrified of this not working. So, asking him about coffee was just a very stupid way to change the subject.
"Please. I'll put a shirt on and join you in the kitchen."
"You can stay like that if you want, I don't mind." I teased just before I left the room.
After a few minutes he was in the kitchen with me, grabbing his mug which I had left ready for him on the counter.
"It turns out your phone wasn't the only one blowing up." He said as he took a sip of his coffee.
"What did you tell him?"
"Nothing yet. But I'll tell him that I had other plans. The tired card won't work with me, he knows me better than that."
"Other plans? What's that supposed to mean?"
"Whatever Kev wants to make out of it." I just stared at him. "Kim, he won't ask me anything else. Besides, I need a backstory just in case this calls anyone's attention tomorrow." He said as he pointed at the massive hickey he had on his neck. "For someone who wants to keep this to ourselves, you made quite a statement."
"You seemed to enjoy it."
"Oh, I enjoyed all of it darling." He pulled me towards him and kissed my neck, making me shiver.
"If you ask me, this is the perfect time to leave evidence behind. Once the fact of us being together is out in the open, everyone will know it's me who has no mercy on your poor neck."
Adam laughed.
"Oh, ok. So you're covering your ass and throwing me under the bus. That hurts." He said playfully, which only made me laugh.
"I'm sorry baby, I didn't mean to leave marks. I just got a little carried away."
"Yeah, I know what that feels like." He stepped closer to me and crashed his mouth into mine, I could feel his tongue dancing around with mine. He slightly moved his face back, taking my bottom lip between his teeth.
"So, care to share with me what that backstory will be?" My arms were wrapped around him as I spoke.
"Baby, your masterpiece speaks for itself. I won't need to say a word." He just shrugged, but I guess the look on my face was asking for more than that. "You can relax. I'm not gonna say anything. You're making it pretty clear that you don't want anyone to know we are doing this."
Our bodies were still connected to each other and I laughed a little bit at his comment, but deep down I knew that he wasn't taking it as a joke. Was this really important for him? Did he really want me to acknowledge our relationship?
That was the exact moment I knew I needed to tell him what I was feeling, why I had this urge to keep this a secret, but I just couldn't do it. At some point, though, I will have to open up, show him the real mess that I am, and just brace for impact, let things play out and be ready to go through the same situation I've been through before. But today wasn't going to be that day.
"Doing this?." My hand was now running up and down his perfectly built arm and my voice showed a little concern. "Come on, don't say that. This, as you call it, is one of the nicests things I have right now and I'm not ready to share it with the world just yet." As soon as I pronounced the last word I hid my face in his chest. His arms held me tight and close to him, as if he knew exactly what I needed, and the kiss on the top of my head was just the cherry on the cake.
"Hey, I told you from day one that I was ok with whatever choice you made." He let out a deep breath and I knew he was going to continue. "It's just hard for me sometimes, you know? Like, when we are at Molly's for instance, I'd love to walk in holding your hand, or walk out together, or kiss you when you laugh at my stupid jokes that noone seems to get excpet you. It's stupid, I know."
"It's not. It's sweet, very sweet." I untucked my head from under his chin and looked up to find his beautiful brown eyes staring down at me. How the hell did I manage to get this guy to look at me like that? I did the only thing I could at the moment. I cupped his face between my hands and pressed my lips against his.
"Speaking of sweet, those lips… they're gonna be the death of me." He leaned in to kiss me again, but we were interrupted by the buzzing of his phone. He took it and looked at the screen before rolling his eyes. "Atwater. I'm just gonna let it ring."
"No, pick up. You know he won't stop calling if you don't."
"Fine. Just make sure you're super quiet."
"Mm-hmm"
"Hey bro, what's up?"
I could hear Kev's voice from the other end of the line, but I couldn't quite get exactly what he was saying.
Adam stuck with the excuse of having other plans, and just like he said it would happen, Kevin didn't ask any more questions. However; my name did come up in the conversation, but I was too busy distracting Adam that I really didn't pay much attention to what they were saying.
Just as he picked up the phone he started to rub my back, as if he was trying to reassure me that everything was going to run smoothly. But I decided to mix it up a little.
I moved my head a little and tried my best to reach his neck and started to brush my lips against his skin. We haven't been together for long, but we already knew exactly what made the other one ting. This was one of his things, that moment before I dropped the actual kiss, the soft feeling of my lips against his warm skin. The anticipation of what could potentially happen, the desire of how we both wanted things to go. I slightly opened my mouth and left the first kiss in the crook of his neck, but I didn't stop there. I tried to cover every inch of skin that wasn't hidden by his shirt.
I could feel his breath picking up speed and how the beating of his heart was beginning to race.
One of my arms was still snaking his waist and the other hand found its way under his shirt, my fingers barely touched his skin as I tried to cover as much ground as possible. I looked up with a playful grin on my face and I saw the cutest little smile as he was mouthing something to me 'stop it'. I obviously didn't stop.
Instead, I unbuttoned his jeans and tugged them down the best I could. I wasn't getting any help from Adam right now, all his focus was set on evening out his breathing while he was trying to carry on a semi coherent conversation with Kev.
"Listen man, I gotta go. Talk to you later, alright?" That's all I heard before he put his phone down on the kitchen counter and proceeded to take off his shirt by pulling the collar behind his neck with one hand. Am I the only person that finds that completely hot?
"You can not do that and expect to get away with it."
He said that and left his face less than an inch away from mine.
"Who said I wanted to get away with it?"
He grabbed me by the thighs and pulled me up, I wrapped my legs around his waist and my arms found their place around his neck as he took me towards the couch.
I'm not really going to expand on the wild ride that was, but I will say it was an amazing way to start the day.
Adam was laying back on the couch, holding me between his legs with my back on his chest covered by a blanket that was draped over the back pillows, his strong arms around me and his hands playing with mine.
"You know? Maybe you're right, maybe keeping this to ourselves for a while isn't so bad as long as I get to be here with you, just like this."
That made me feel so warm inside, so at home, that it made me smile. I slowly turned my body so I could rest my head on his bare chest, I felt his hand stroking my hair and hugged him closer to me.
"We can stay like this for as long as you want. I'm really getting used to these cuddles." We both chuckled, but even though I was getting the most amazing feeling being so close to him, I was truly scared of getting used to this. This was all too good for me, I knew it was just a matter of time until he got tired of me and just left. Like it's always happened.
