He took a cigar from the inner pocket of his robe, lit it with his wand, and leaned against the corner of the building. Blowing the smoke out, he watched people walk back and forth as they went about their day. It was busy in the Muggle neighborhood.
Most people assumed that because he was a Death Eater, he would kill without thought, that he enjoyed killing, that he didn't want to do anything but cause death and destruction. That was, in fact, the farthest thing from the truth.
Antonin Dolohov, wasn't what most people assumed. He wasn't just a ruthless killer with a Russian accent. He didn't want to be a Death Eater. His only desire was to enjoy his quiet life.
He watched a young couple cross the street. They looked to be in their early twenties and very much in love. They held each other, careful of the baby in the woman's arms. Antonin took a deep breath. Once, he'd had everything he wanted: a wife and a young daughter. It seemed as though he saw them in every young family now.
He remembered how his life changed forever.
It happened almost twenty years ago, while he was away visiting a business assistant in London. His wife and daughter were at home in a manor just outside of Moscow. When he got home, he found the manor burned, his wife slaughtered and his daughter missing. He'd looked everywhere and couldn't find her.
Later, it was revealed that his sweet little girl had been taken by the Order of the Phoenix. He'd vowed that someday he would get her back.
He smashed his cigar and threw it away, striding down the street to the corner pub. Upon entering, Antonin let his eyes adjust to the pub's darkness. He walked over to the bar and waited while the bartender poured him a beer. In a booth in the back corner waited just the person he hoped to see.
"What did you find out at the Ministry, Rowle?"
The other man in the booth looked at Antonin. "Nice to see you too," he said sarcastically.
"Damn,Thorfinn, did you get any information or not?" Antonin whispered.
Thorfinn slid a folder across to him. "This is everything. Are you sure you're ready for it?"
Antonin took a deep breath. "Yes. I want to get to know my little girl."
"Let's just say, you'll be shocked," Thorfinn warned as Antonin opened the folder.
Top Secret
He looked up. " Should I be worried that this is labeled top secret? Do I even want to know how you got it?"
"I got it legally. The records' woman happens to really like me, if you know what I mean," Thorfinn said, wiggling his eyebrows.
Antonin laughed. "Honestly I don't know what you did to get the information but I appreciate it."
"I am not breaking the law anymore," Thorfinn affirmed.
"You and I both," Antonin replied.
He looked back at the folder and opened it.
Top Secret
The first page consisted of a blank piece of paper. He moved it then whistled slowly as his eyes scanned the page.
"She's going to hate me."
"Who?"
"My daughter. Here look at this," Antonin instructed as he showed him the paper.
"Shit! That's not going to be easy."
Natasha Grace Dolohov - name changed to Hermione Jean Granger
Status - Pureblood (of the utmost importance that everyone believe her to be a Muggleborn)
Parents - Antonin and Annika Dolohov- New parents - Sarah and Kyle Granger
Natasha Grace Dolohov was taken from her parents as a toddler.
There is a glamour on her that will come off when turns 18.
She is never to know this information.
Albus Percival Wulfric Brian Dumbledore
Thorfinn wasn't sure how to respond. He looked up at his friend. "She's not going to take this well, but I think she is going to be more upset with her precious Order then with both of us. At least, that's my hope."
"If she won't listen to what we have to say, how are we going to convince her?" Antonin asked.
"Maybe we can send this to her house; she won't be able to deny the information if it is literally in front of her face," Thorfinn suggested.
"That's not a bad idea," Antonin said as he rubbed his chin. With a gulp, he finished his beer. "I wonder how different she will look when the glamour wears off..."
He looked over at Thorfinn who had a weird look on his face. "Care to share why you're giving me that look, Thor?"
Thorfinn only smirked.
"Thor, I don't mind dealing with you being a smart-ass," Antonin said.
"That's because you love me, Tony."
Antonin rolled his eyes and laughed. "I will need to let her godparents know. They would want to be privy to such information."
"Who are her godparents?"
"Narcissa and Lucius Malfoy."
