I walked into Onin's tent behind Jak, Young Samos Standing beside Onin. I felt Bad for not talking to Jak besides what was necessary, but I had to keep my emotional wall up or things could go south when I came to that side of me. The Dark Eco inside me was growing stronger, I could feel it. Ever since the episode in the garage, I… I could feel it wanting to take over. But I refused to let it happen. I Focused on the two in front of us, holding a seal piece I found in the slums thanks to Jak's, uh... Lurker friend Brutter.

"The Birdbrain and I were just Talking about you two. Onin is very proud of the both of you for what you did." Young Samos said as we walked farther into the tent.

"What we did?" Jak asked, looking between him and me, Pecker flying to sit on Onin's Head.

"What you Did, what you do… It's all the same." Pecker waved his wing around.

"Will you stop it with the Deja- voodoo stuff? It's creepy!" Daxter exclaimed from Jak's shoulder. I rolled my eyes, putting the seal piece in my bag and crossed my arms.

"Onin says you must find the tomb of Mar." Young Samos says, looking at Onin, who was waving her hands around.

"Even now Baron Praxis seeks the Tomb, but only the one true Heir of Mar can open the Tomb with the seal."

"We Believe the Kid is the key."

"The Prophecy said the true heir of mar must face the ancient oracle. He alone must circumnavigate the cunning test of Manhood. He alone must wield the precursor stone! And then by unleashing the- geez Louise lady would you stop the snooty medic crap already, huh? You know It hurts my lips."

"Why Is Mar's Tomb so important?" Jak asked, interrupting Pecker.

"The Fabled Precursor Stone Is rumored to sleep within the tomb, Stupid. I added the stupid part. The precursor stone contain vast energies. It can be used for great good or great Eviilll." He waved his wings ominously. "Heh. I just love saying that last part."

"The Baron wants the Precursor stone for Himself. To Rule the world. But he is playing with forces he does not understand." Young Samos added.

"Okay Pecker, so how do we get this…Precursor stone?" Jak asked.

"First you must go to the Dig, and find the Lurker totem. Onin and I learned that a piece of the seal of Mar is contained within its Ancient Carvings. You must find all three pieces of the seal to open Mar's gate into the canyon."

"Sounds Easy enough. We already have one." I said, looking at Samos and Onin.

"We're on it." Jak nodded, turning around and leaving the tent. I sighed dejectedly.

"Trouble in Paradise?" Pecker taunted. I glared at him.

"It's None of your business, Birdbrain." I Snapped.

"Zoe… I'm actually glad you came along. Onin had an idea on how to help with your Training." Young Samos Interjected, I turned my attention to him.

"Oh? Do tell."

"It… Involves going into your subconscious to find the root of your Insecurities and allow you to move past them so you can fully use your powers without… losing yourself."

"What?! You're not going to go in my head!"

"No, no. I'm not going anywhere near it. No one is but you. Onin will control your dreams to direct your mind to your fears, doubts, worries. Now, this isn't something that will work immediately, and perhaps it won't work at all, but it is an option." He explains. I sighed.

"I guess… its worth a shot." I said, and Samos smiled.

"Onin says you need to lie down beside her and breathe slowly with your eyes closed." Pecker said, I doing as he instructed. The pillows under me were soft, the exotic scents becoming strong. All I saw was darkness as I slowed my breathing, Focusing on the smells. I thought I could smell… the beach? No… unless I was supposed to follow it. I let my mind wander, imaging Sandover Beach and I felt my body fall into darkness. I felt everything be pulled in every which way until I opened my eyes to see the light above me… The blue sky, the clouds! I... I swam upwards until I broke the surface of… the water? The Sun shone brightly above me, I hearing the seagulls and the waves. I treaded water, looking around. I saw the beach, the ruins, and... the village! I was home.

"Hey Zoe!" I heard a voice call out, I turning to see a familiar Red-Head waving his arms like crazy towards me. I Swam towards the beach, walking out of the water. It was Daxter. But Human.

"Yo Dax." I said, not being able to control my voice or body anymore. Like I was dreaming. But everything was so real!

"Grandpa green wanted me to get you two. Something about one of his history lessons."

"Aw c'mon Daxter. Those are Boring. "I groaned as Jak exited the water beside me. With his hair spiked and blue sleeveless shirt. Not the hard-ass Jak. The sweet, silent Jak. He grinned at me, shaking himself off and getting the both of us wet. Daxter cried out but I only laughed.

"well, he's not gonna be happy if the both of you bail."

"He's Never happy." I said, he shaking his head and running off towards the Village.

"I'm Gonna tell him you said that!" He yelled.

"Go ahead!" I yelled back as Jak took my hand, leading me towards the Ruins.

"Where are we going?" I laughed as we stopped at the top where we could dry off. The gulls flew off into the sky. He then pulled out a necklace, one looking familiar but I swear I've never seen it before. He then offered it to me.

"For me? Jak…" I took it, studying it and smiling. I then looked back up to him… but it wasn't him anymore. He was in rags, long hair and unconscious. The world around me shifted, I standing across from him on a table. His arms were spread out, chained.

No… NO!

I tried to get to him but glass stopped me. I banged my fists against the surface as I saw Baron Praxis enter the room, turning on several machines. The same ones that they used to torture me.

"Jak!" I screamed out as the room lit up with the dark eco electricity and his screams drowned out my own. Tears ran down my face.

"You can stop this any time." Erol's Voice said from behind me, his hands on my shoulders as he forced me to watch my best friend be tortured. I hit the glass desperate.

But I didn't. I couldn't.

"Please! Stop it! Don't hurt him!" I cried out, slamming my fists against the glass, it breaking and I ran to him as the Dark eco hit his body, getting me in the back instead. Pain ripped throughout my body as my eyes were closed, shielding Jak.

I opened my eyes to see his half-lidded. I could see the sparkle as he passed out. The Machine turned off; I being ripped away from him by strong hands. Most likely Praxis'.

"No! Stop!" I screamed out, kicking and fighting.

"So, we know she can take eco and still fight. I think we found our Dark Eco Sage. Erol." Baron Said, Dragging me away.

"Jak!" I Cried his name as the door slid shut with a thud, leaving me in darkness.

I was on the streets of Haven city this time, fire surrounding me in the alley. Krimzon guard bodies surrounded me, my own clothes torn. I heard sirens, but they were muffled like they were in the distance. I could look around, and when I did, I spotted the cause of the Destruction. Jak… but it wasn't him. His clothes were torn as well, skin lavender hair white and eyes black. Claws on each hand, Dark Eco surrounding him. I slowly put down the gun I didn't know I was holding. His eyes snapped towards me, sharp teeth baring at me.

"Jak! It's me, Zoe." I said softly but no response. I edged my way towards him, he still on the defense. His growls echoed throughout my body.

"I don't want to hurt you. And I know you don't want to hurt me… so let's talk, hmm?"

But still no response. Was he truly gone? No, I would never accept it. I was only a few feet from him now, within range of him being able to claw me. I was scared. Why was I so scared? This was my Best Friend! He wouldn't hurt me…

Yet he did. Within a split second he swiped his claw at my chest, I trying to reach out to hug him. I could feel the pain then the warmth. I could see my blood splatter against the ground, the walls, against him. His dark eyes flashed green as he reverted back to normal to watch me fall backwards.

"Zoe! No!" He yelled out, catching me before I hit the ground. But it was too late. I knew the wound was fatal. I had a variation of this scenario play out almost every night in my nightmares but this time... It felt real. I touched Jak's face, he rambling about how I was going to be okay, that he'll fix me up. I shook my head and whispered the three words I wanted to say to him since we were young. My eyes closed, I falling into darkness one last time.

I opened my eyes to see pecker staring at me and standing on my chest. I swatted him away.

"Get off me!" I exclaimed, sitting up and immediately feeling dizzy.

"Zoe? Are you alright?" Young Samos asked.

"Do I look alright? That didn't Help!" I snapped, feeling warm liquid on my cheeks. I wiped away tears.

"I did say that it might not work the first time…" He spoke. I sighed, shaking my head.

"Onin wants to know what you saw." Pecker said, flying up to Onin. I told them, explaining in detail.

"The Past, The Present and perhaps the future." Pecker Said.

"What? No, I would never…"

"Never? You cannot change the future, Zoe."

"Watch me." I stood, I steadying myself as I felt my legs go slightly numb. I then heard my communicator in my pocket go off, I answering it.

"Go for Z."

"Zoe?! It's about Damn time you answered! I've trying to reach you for about two hours. Get your ass over to the hideout." Torn said through the device.

"Okay. You could be nicer about it. I'm on my way." I responded, placing it back in my pocket and leaving the tent, hoping on my electric blue zoomer.

(later)

"Torn. What's going on?" I asked, walking inside the underground hideout. He did not look happy. Jak and Daxter followed closely behind, probably just arriving after I did.

"The Baron's coming down pretty hard. Whatever you two have been doing, you've really upset him." Torn says, facing us.

"We're just getting started." Jak said.

"He's brought in Krimzon Guard hellcat cruisers making the streets dangerous for the underground. They're being piloted by the Elite. Zoe knows them well."

That warranted a look from Jak towards me but I stayed silent, focusing on Torn.

"We've already lost five men this week." He continued.

"Your Men should know how to take care of themselves." Jak crossed his arms, turning away. I was shocked. He should be more sensitive about this. It was my fault that this was happening.

"I Don't mind taking out a few cruisers if that's what you're getting at." I interjected.

"Never part of a bigger cause, eh Jak? Fine. I'll take your help anyway I can get it. You and Zoe Bring down five hellcat cruisers and that should be enough to give The Baron a message." Torn said and I nodded, heading Back outside.

"Zoe, wait!" Jak said before I could get on my Zoomer, I stopping. I felt his hand on my shoulder, spinning me around so I could face him. His face was hard.

"We need to get moving."

"You've been giving me the cold shoulder lately. I thought you said we should rely on each other."

"I- "

"But You're going to this Hard-ass persona and I don't like it."

"I'm the one putting on a persona? All you care about is bringing down the Baron! Not the lives of the people who've been sacrificing everything to bring him down. To make this city a better place."

"Is that why you're upset?"

"No! Yes! I don't know, Damnit."

"Zoe…" He sighs, his grip on my shoulder tightened.

"Let's just get this done."

"Yeah." He nods, jumping on the back of my zoomer, I passing him my gun. His grip on my waist tightened and I sighed.

What was I going to do?
