*Jak's POV*
I brought in Zoe's Unconscious body into the Hideout, torn perking up as soon as we entered.
"What the hell happened?" He asked as I set her down on her Bed. I took her jacket off, both arms lit up with the marks.
"The baron. That's what happened! How did the Baron know we were so close to making the move for the stone?" I asked, looking over at torn, who hasn't moved from the main area.
"It's my fault. The baron threatened to kill Ashlein for spying. His own daughter! I couldn't risk that."
"So, you risked Zoe's?"
"I didn't know she was going to use her eco powers!"
"Right. Very good thinking. Except Praxis has the Precursor Stone now. So, he could do whatever he wants!" Daxter Exclaimed.
"There is a way to get our friends back. And maybe the Precursor stone as well. I'll find Vin. Go to the Fortress and we'll call you."
"and why should we trust you?"
"Because you and I both know the baron would've killed Ashelin. It'll be a tough fight through the fortress. But I know a girl who got out of it once." He glanced over to the curtain where Zoe was still asleep.
"Oh, No. You are not putting her through that."
"You're right. I'm not letting Zoe anywhere near the Fortress."
"You just focus on getting the door open. I'll be there." I spat, walking back out onto the streets of haven city. It beginning to rain.
"Hey Jak? Is Zoe going to be Okay?" Daxter asked.
"Yeah. She's the toughest girl I know. She'll be fine." I answered, hoping I was right.
*(Zoe's POV) *
"Zoe? Zoe!" I heard Tess's voice startle me awake.
"Tess? Ungh. My head..." I sat up.
"It's about time you got up! We have Work to do!" Samos yelled.
"Oh, don't tell me I hit my head again." I groaned, shaking my head. Tess offered me a drink of water, I taking it.
"Thanks." I smiled warmly.
"No, you didn't hit your Head, Zoe. Yet I wouldn't be surprised if you did." Samos piped up.
"Give the girl a break. She overworked herself." Tess added.
"And she wouldn't have if she'd listen to me!" Samos said.
"So, you're going to prevent her from doing her Job?" Tess asked.
"Not if it means that it's going to kill Her or turn her into her father!" Young Samos yelled.
"Enough!" I cried out. Everyone stared at me. "You haven't been helpful at all! All you've done this entire time is tell me to do, Samos!" I yelled, hoping off the table and storming out.
"Zoe?" Torn asked as I passed by.
"Torn… What… what happened?"
"Jak and Daxter freed Tess, and both Samo's from the fortress then ran off to do a job for Krew."
"I see. Wait. Both Samos?" I said, wiping tears from my face.
"Yeah. There's.. Two. The old one might be at the Garage with your friend. Here. If you're gonna go out at least put a coat on." He said, passing me a red leather Jacket.
"T-thanks."
"No problem." He said.
" Catch you later Torn." I said, leaving the underground hideout. My Zoomer was parked outside, Glad that someone was nice enough to drive it back here. I was still curious on how the baron knew we were close enough to the stone. I'd had to ask Jak. I also still had no clue on how long I was out. I needed to get better contrl of my powers,Samos wasn't any help. I had to rely on Jak.
The city was somewhat quiet as I made the familiar drive to the Garage. Not many Krimzon guards out. At least not concentrated in one area. After about ten minutes I arrived at my destination, excited to see Keira, not excited to see old grandpa green. But instead, I was met with the face from my nightmares.
"Erol." I sneered, going for my gun. But he looked oddly relaxed.
"I wouldn't do that Princess. Unless you want to be shot." He spoke.
"What do you want?" I asked.
"You, of course. You and I both know we felt a spark in your cell, Vixen. Your Body still wants mine." He grinned. I wanted to wipe that look off his face but I waited.
"Not. Happening. Plus, your experiences were way different than mine, asshole."
"Isn't this better?" He asked, bringing my face to his. I kicking his foot and spat in his face. He winced, wiping his face.
I growled. He then roughly grabbed my chin.
"You're lucky the Baron wants you in one piece. Besides, I'll let you and all your little friends Live if you agree to be my Mechanic." He said, noticing Jak as he approached, letting me go but not out of reach.
"I- "
"Well, If It isn't the Dark Eco freak!"
"Where's Keira?" I heard Jak ask. I shot him a look.
"Don't worry. I'm Keeping a close eye on both your girls. You're the talk of the town, Jak. You and Zoe Give people hope. How Pathetic. I would've Enjoyed Killing you in Prison and keeping Zoe as my slave. But now… it'll be so much more fun to take you on the track. In front of the entire city. I can hear the roar of the crowd now as everyone see their hope Die." Erol says, I wanting to leap out and kick him.
"It's good to have you back, daddy." I heard Keira say as her and older Samos enter.
"Yes. It's nice to be free again." Samos says. Erol then approached Jak, muttering something I couldn't hear.
"Stay away from her." Jak said to Erol as he laughed maniacally, walking off.
"Remember what I said, Vixen. The choice is yours."
"Erol's the best racer I've ever seen." Keira said as he left.
"He's not what you think." Jak said.
"and you're the judge of character? Hah. Look at you! People say you get angry, and… change. Besides. The Jak I knew wouldn't be working for a guy like Krew." Keira said.
"Keira, I- "I started but Jak interrupted.
"I need Krew's connections to fight the Baron. Without my- you know what? Do it your way, and I'll do it mine. Just don't come crying to me when the walls fall down." He says, walking off.
"Uh Jak? Where you going? Jak? Jak!" Daxter yelled out.
"Great you pissed him off." I said to Keira.
"I made him mad? He's already always angry."
"He's been through a lot. We both have."
"Don't start, Zoe, I- "
Attention all Drivers. The class two Race will begin soon.
"Now what're we gonna do?" Daxter asked.
"Well since Miss 'I know jak better than anyone else' scared off our driver, I guess I'll drive." I said, grabbing my gun off the table and taking a special key off the hook.
"You, Drive?" Samos asked.
"Hey! I built the damn thing. And yes Samos, while you were busy taking a nap, I decided to do something. I grew up. C'mon Dax." I said, walking outside where my blue Zoomer was parked.
"Uh, what do you want me to do?" He asked.
"Hold on tight and be my spotter." I said, starting the bike. I then flipped the key in my hand open, inserting it into a small hole under the accelerator. The bike shifted, so it was longer and I could lay on my stomach.
"Woah mamma this thing looks cool! What else can it do?"
"Just watch." I said as I drove to the starting line, Sitting in third place. I revved my engine, the eco convertor roaring to life. I shifted my body to the proper position, boots moving to the stands.
"You better know what you're doing, Z." Daxter said.
"I always am." I responded as the light turned green, I taking off in max speed.
****(After the race) ******
I set the trophy down on the table, High fiving Daxter.
"Now there's a handsome winner." Daxter said, staring into the shiny trophy with Tess nearby. I rolled my eyes, smiling as Keira approached us.
"You did It Zoe, Daxter! You helped us Qualify for the big race. I… Sorry I doubted you, Z." She looked at me. I nodded.
"Tensions are high. It's okay, Keira."
"Did you ever doubt? I backseat drive for Jak all the time. Hey! When do I get the winner's big kiss?" Daxter asked Tess.
"Maybe Later. If you're a good boy." Tess said, petting Daxter. I looked up to see Jak walk in.
"Hey there. We showed those class 2 losers a thing or two, huh?" Daxter hoped down as he approached us.
"I saw. You drifted a little too high on the turns a few times, but you hung in there. I'm proud of you both." He kneeled down to fist bump Daxter, then got up to look at me.
"Me, Drift?" I asked, crossing my arms. He chuckled.
"You and Daxter make a good team. You did great."
"No, we did great!" Daxter exclaimed.
"Okay, there furball. Go back to your normal spot." I teased as he hopped off my shoulder onto Jak's.
"C'mon guys. Drinks are on me." Jak said as I cheered, we going to the Bar to celebrate.
