So, this is the beginning of a hopefully bit longer story, have fun!

The prophecies crashed to the ground, leaving back nothing but dust and whispers from another time. The small group of students ran through the breaking files, chased by black hooded figures.

Hermione turned around only to see, that Ginny, Neville and Ron seemed to have taken another way at some point.

"Harry!", she screamed over the sound of bursting glass, "The others, we've lost them!"

He turned around and cursed, "Damn it, we can´t go back now. Keep running and better don't look back."

Luna and Hermione, in spite of Harry´s warning turned their heads. Black smoke was coming after them, slowly taking the form of two dark figures. A menacing chuckle followed them on their run. Then finally: To their left there was a door. The three friends stormed through the frame, throwing themselves against the wood in an attempt to block it from the inside.

Hermione pulled out her wand to cast a spell, that would lock it. "Colloportus! Go on, it won't take them long to-" She was cut up in the middle of the sentence by the sound of splintering wood. They had just reached the next room, when the first spell flew over their heads to leave a melting hole in the wall.

Then they were inside the room full of ticking clocks and sparkling lights. There was no time for them to get any further, before a slow, drawling voice commanded: "The prophecy, Potter."

They turned around. Lucius Malfoy and Bellatrix Lestrange had pointed their wands at them, it couldn´t get very much worse.

Bellatrix' smirk sent chills down Hermione´s spine. "Looks like little Potty has gotten himself and his tiny friends trapped by the big, scary death eaters."

She could feel Harry tense beside her and prayed silently for him to stay calm. He held the glass orb close to his body and motioned for the girls to get behind him, but before they could follow his order a curse hit Luna square in the chest and threw her into a collection of time turners at the wall behind her.

Hermione cried out and ducked, the spell casted in her direction missing her for less than an inch and burning a strand of hair. Bellatrix laughter echoed from the walls, as she jumped up and down in childish glee.

Hermione stepped back and knelt down besides the only slightly conscious Luna.

Harry casted a look back at his friends, then at the approaching death eaters. They could see the decision forming in his mind, his look got determined. "I´m afraid, but this time I´ll have to disappoint your Lord.", he said and then with a quick movement smashed the prophecy to the ground.

As Malfoy was still on his knees in an useless attempt to save the orb, a wave of Energy, coming from Bellatrix wand threw Harry backwards and into Hermione, hovering over the injured Luna. The rage of the murderous maniac left the walls shaking, hit by a constant stream of spells, the death eater threw around blindly.

It seemed, that the woman had lost control over her actions, which worsened the fear, building in Hermione's mind.

One curse hit a grandfather clock standing besides the three teenagers. It staggered on it´s place before crushing down mere inches away from their noses. The glass, which had covered the clock face was broken, but it´s hands went on and on, steadily quickening their pace.

Hermione stared at them in shock, a frightening suspicion forming in her mind. She turned to see the world around her except for her friends slowing down. Shattered glass moved through the air, everything seemed caught in some sort of time lapse. Then the moment was over, she saw a blinding light and everything went black.

Hermione woke to the sound of whispering voices. She blinked to clear her vision; she was laying in a bed with clean white sheets, two people standing in front of it, engaged in quiet conversation. She recognized one of them, the tall figure of Albus Dumbledore.

For a moment everything seemed to be nothing but a bad dream. Here she was, laying in the hospital wing, Dumbledore was still headmaster and Harry had never led them to the department of mysteries.

Then the long bearded wizard turned around and smiled at her. "Pleasure to meet you, my name is Albus Percival Wulfric Brian Dumbledore, present-day headmaster of Hogwarts school of witchcraft and Wizardry. You are currently staying at St Mungo's Hospital for Magical Maladies and Injures, you and your friends arrived mere hours ago."

Hermione turned her head, in the bed to her left laid an still unconscious Harry, to her left Luna was buried under a mass of blankets.

She looked back at the headmaster, his face so familiar, but still this was not the man she knew. His hair was brown, with only few strands of silver, he didn't wear glasses and this Dumbledore had obviously never met her before. The realisation had her slump back into the pillows, burring her face in her hands.

Dumbledore and the man by his side shared a concerned look. The stranger said: "My name is Nobby Leach, you may may be aware, that I am the minister of magic. You were found in the ministry, I have to ask, what you three children were doing there? The department, you were found in is under very high protection."

She slowly dropped her hands and looked at the two men. With a slightly shaking voice she asked "I´m sorry, but may I ask, what day it is? My friends and I must have been unconscious for quiet a bit."

"Of course you may,"; Dumbledore answered, "it's the first of September 1967."

The girl felt sick, how could this be true? Her thoughts were racing through her head. The existence of time travel was undoubted, but she never read of anyone skipping more than a few months. How should she tell Dumbledore and the other man, that because of a war that hadn't even started yet she and her fellow students got tricked into entering a trap of a wizard, that would soon be that feared, that people wouldn't even dare to speak his name? Who could they trust but each other? Every single action could affect the future.

She swallowed. "We were on holidays. My friends and I were visiting ...Iceland.", she cleared her throat, "I wanted to do some research for some essay about magical creatures, I´m writing on and they", she nodded her head in direction of Luna and Harry, "agreed to accompany me."

She felt like lying wasn't maybe the best idea, but the only option, she could see at the moment. Hesitating she went on "Because of us being under-aged, we couldn't just apparate, so we decided to travel back by port key. We went to some shop, whose owner said, he would also sell port keys. He did, but obviously not very good ones. The last thing, I remember is us, touching the port key, then everything went black."

She watched them, fearing, they wouldn't buy her story.

Then the stranger nodded. "Well, illegal selling of false port keys is, I´m afraid, nothing new to us.", he sighed, "Albus, would you inform the parents and also take them in for as long as needed?"

Dumbledore nodded.

As soon as the man had gone, he sat down at the edge of Hermione's bed.

"As Mr Leach said, you will be staying at our school for while you're here. As soon as your friends are feeling better, which shall be in a few hours, I assume, I will send someone to pick you up. You should try to get some rest." Humming quietly the younger Dumbledore left the room.

Hermione laid in bed, staring at the ceiling. She didn't want to think about what was going to happen. They were stuck in the past, sooner or later their lies would get detected. And then?

She couldn´t tell how long she had been laying like that, till she got ripped out of her state by the sound of movements to her left. Harry had lifted himself into a sitting position. "Harry!" She threw herself into his arms.

He looked slightly puzzled, but laughed. "Hermione, what-?"

She was about to answer the unfinished question, when Luna's dreamy voice reached her ears "I always thought death would be less hospital like."

She laughed. "We are not dead, Luna, we are...", she paused, "well, that´s a bit more complicated."

After she had told them everything that had happened so far, they sat in silence for a few minutes.

Then Harry cleared his throat, "Thanks god, you're a fast thinker, I bet, I could have never imagined a possible explanation."

She gave him a weak smile, "Thank you, but what are we gonna do? Dumbledore will try and contact our parents...they´re just younger than us at the moment!"

Harry hesitated, "What if we told Dumbledore...I mean, we don´t need to tell him the whole truth, but at least explain our current situation."

Hermione sighed, "Looks like it´s the best option, we have."

They got interrupted by a knocking at the door. The person entered – another familiar face.

"I´m Minerva McGonnagall, deputy headmistress and professor of transfigurations at Hogwarts, Professor Dumbledore sent me to take you to the castle."

For a moment they stared at their Professors' younger self, then they stood up and followed the woman out of the room. They used the floo network to get to Dumbledore's office.

The headmaster sat behind his desk and watched them smiling, as they took a seat.

"Well, for we are going to spend some time together, I think, we shall present ourselves to each other."

He looked at the them. After short hesitation Harry began. "Harry Potter, Sir."

Hermione and Luna followed his example. Then Hermione began,"I have already told you a story about how we came here...well, it wasn't really the truth. It would be no good, if people knew about it anyway, but we agreed, that we should maybe tell you."

"I feel honoured. How come, I could gain your trust?"

The friends exchanged some looks, then Harry answered, "That´s a part of the story...we know you."

They explained how they were students at Hogwarts and that there was a wizard, who tried to change the world according to his ideals and was somehow connected to Harry. They narrated, how they had gotten into a trap, set in the department of mysteries and how the time turners were broken by a follower of the dark wizard.

At first they looked at them in disbelieve, but when Harry mentioned Professor Dumbledore's explicit like for lemon drops, they seemed to be accepting their words as true.

Dumbledore and McGonnagall listened without interrupting them.

When they had finished, Dumbledore frowned "You were right with not telling us straight away. It will be best to keep up the story, you told us, Miss Granger."

McGonnagall looked a little sick, "I can´t believe...such pressure on children! Albus-"

"I know, Minerva.", he said, answering her unspoken question, "Hogwarts shall be your home for as long, as you need."

That was at least a bit of a relief for the three.

"For the time, you stay here, I suggest you shall be put in my house.", McGonnagall added, "It will be easier to protect you and you can stick together."

"How will we explain it to the ministry and the other students?", asked Harry.

"I propose, we will make it look like a transfer. You three will be young people from Ilvermony, who decided to finish their education in Great Britain after an surprising incident, that turned into an opportunity.", he smiled, "May I ask, in what year you are?"

It was Harry who answered. "Luna has just finished her fourth, Hermione and me our fifth year.

Is there any possibility for us, to visit the same class?"

The headmaster and McGonnagall exchanged a look.

"Of course, if Miss Lovegood doesn't mind, you will be put with the sixth years. I trust, that you", he turned to Harry and Hermione, "will help your friend catch up. Let's hope, that it is a temporary solution, I will try to figure out a way, to find a solution for our problem, you'll be informed, if there's any progress."

Dumbledore raised from his seat, "I will take care of the official things, but what belongs to informing your fellow students: if we go now, we will be just in time for dinner!"

The sound of laughter and exited chattering, coming from the students, who hadn't seen each other over the summer, filled the great hall. The ceiling showed the clear sky, the light of thousands of candles created the usual cozy atmosphere. The three friends didn't enjoy the beginning-of-therm feast as they normally would, nervously sitting at the edge of the Griffindor table, curious looks being casted their way.

Then the doors opened and McGonnagall, followed by a group of firt years entered the hall.

They stopped in front of the teachers table and everyone turned their attention to the sorting hat, who after a short dramatic pause began to sing:

You children new at Hogwarts School

to part you is my deed

there are four houses, full of pride

wait up and you will see

The founders of our noble school

connected friendship's bond

they all had a wish in common

to pass their knowledge on

But still they all had their own ways

that wouldn't go along

so they decided to form houses

each one equal and strong

Your path may lead to Ravenclaw

where strength lays in the mind

You may belong in Hufflepuff

ever loyal and kind

Then there is also Griffindor

where you'll find spiritedness

And least the house of Slytherin

for those who seek for greatness

though I divide year after year

there comes a time to unite

it's necessary to survive

so cast aside the pride

a bridge of love and hope is built

where people can forgive

our actions determine the future

there's so much we can give

Although there are dark times ahead

love shall always win

Hogwarts must stand together

let the sorting now begin!

Applause thundered through the hall, but you could also hear whispering between the clapping, the atmosphere being somewhat uneasy. Hermione lifted her gaze to study the teachers expressions.

McGonnagall's movements seemed a bit stiff, as she lifted the sorting hat off the stool and prepared to read out the names of the new students, Hermione could see her exchanging a concerned look with Dumbledore.

She got torn out of her thoughts by Harry, who whispered quietly: "What do you think he's talking about, this is a bit more than the usual "there's four houses but still be nice" talk."

Hermione gulped. "Well, we are in 1967, which means in about three years...", she didn't finish the sentence.

Harry gave her a questioning look, but to her surprise Luna's dreamy voice could be heard: "It was the beginning of the first Wizarding War. Daddy told me about it – it's not a very convenient time to live in."

That was true, Hermione shivered at the thought, that right in this moment the wizard, who just about a year ago from their time had risen from the dead, was now out there, collecting followers. So many people would die in the next few years...

And there was not only him, who must not be named, but also his followers. She had never given it much thought, but now she wondered, how old they actually were.

Were some of them right now in this room? How many of the young people, laughing carefree with their fellow students would pick his side, become the feared Death Eaters?

She barely registered the sorting ceremony to be over, until she heard Dumbledore's voice, jerking her out of her thoughts again.

"Welcome to a new year at Hogwarts! I have a lot to tell you, but long speeches can wait until after our banquet. Dig in!" Hermione smiled, clapping along with the other students – some things never change.

She left her gaze wander down the table, meeting the eyes of a girl with bright red hair and warm eyes, who was probably one or two years older than herself. The girl gave her a friendly smile.

"Hello, my name is Molly, I'm in seventh year. How come I've never seen you around before?"

Hermione blinked, trying not to gape at her. This face was so familiar. She sat at one table with a younger version of Ron's Mother!

She nervously returned the smile. "Well, my friends and I are transfer students from Ilvermony. Nice to meet you, Molly. I'm Hermione and this", she hit Harry slightly with her elbow to gain his attention, "are Harry and Luna. Guys, this is Molly."

She watched her friends' expressions, Harry barely covering his astonishment, Luna smiling indifferent as always.

"Transfer students? Well, don't think we ever had that, but welcome! You did the sorting?"

Harry answered, having apparently gathered himself. "Yeah, about an hour ago. Lucky, we all made it into the same house."

Molly grinned. "Not the only reason you're lucky. You just made it into the best house, ", she leaned forward, "trust me, you wouldn't wanna be in Slytherin for example."

"Oh, really?", Hermione asked trying to seem interested, "Why not?"

Molly lowered her voice. "Believe me, it's true. One half of them is a bunch of pureblood supremacists and the other half are just people, who are not very sympathetic for other reasons.

Let's just say, there are some people, who are not to cross.", she said, throwing a quick gaze at the opposite side of the hall. "But I don't want to keep you guys from eating any longer. Welcome to our house! If you have any questions, you can always come to me."

Hermione helped herself to some Potatoes and other vegetable, while she quietly talked to her friends. "There is another thing we have to discuss, apart from finding a way to get back obviously, to which, I'm afraid, I cant find any possible solutions at the moment. My concern is, how we will handle the people, we will meet in the future? I mean Dumbledore and McGonnagall aren't that much of a problem and Molly – well it's gonna be complicated, but still not, what worries me the most. What are we gonna do, if we meet any future Death Eaters?"

Luna gave her a thoughtful look. "I wouldn't worry about that. They're only humans." She smiled picking up a carrot.

Harry exchanged a doubtful look with Hermione and sighed. "I honestly don't know. I guess, we'll just have to deal with them, keep our heads down, while we're here... There's not very much, we can do at the moment."

The remains of the food disappeared and were replaced by various desserts. At least that seamed to rise the spirits of her friends a little bit. Smiling she watched them, Harry munching in his treacle tart and Luna with her Pudding. She shook her head in light amusement.

It didn't take very much longer for the feast to turn towards an end. Dumbledore got to his feet again, causing the chatter to stop. He did his usual speech, announcing the Quidditch trials, reminding them, not to go into the forbidden forest ect. At the end he had only one point left: "And finally I am delighted to inform you, that apart from our first years we have another three students, transferring to our school. They have been sorted into Griffindor house and will visit sixth grade. I expect, you will welcome them as family", he smiled and clapped his hands together, "And now, before we all go to slumber, let's sing our school song together!"

Molly leaned over the table again. "He's been headmaster for about two years now, he's made this tradition. However, the other teachers aren't that much fond of it.", she laughed, "But I can tell you, we all enjoy it."

It was indeed funny, to watch the expressions of Dumledore's colleagues during the song, he himself conducting and participating eagerly. Over the years they would get used to it, but Hermione recalled, that some of the Professors still looked a bit suffering, when it came to singing the song.

She was glad, when the feast ended, a night to sleep over this whole thing would hopefully help to clear her mind. She walked along with the other Griffindors, through the familiar corridors and staircases. At some places she spotted different paintings or empty spots, where there used to stand a statue or something.

The common room itself hadn't changed, still guarded by the Fat Lady and at least giving her some feeling of acquaintance. At this point she parted ways with Harry, him going up to the boys dormitories, Luna and her taking the other way.

She felt slightly relieved, when she was told, that the two witches would be having a room to themselves, this meant some privacy, they would already be facing enough questions during the day.

Entering the room they found two neatly folded stacks of clothes and bathroom supplies – she had to remember thanking Dumbledore for that. Also there was a timetable, she gulped, she wasn't sure, that she would be ready to visit school along with the other students, pretending like everything was just normal.

However, she would have enough time to worry about that tomorrow and after a short evening routine Luna and her went to bed. She could hear the other witch humming quietly to herself, as she slowly drifted away to sleep.

Just what kind of mess had they gotten into?

And that's it, feel free to correct me, I'm sorry for any mistakes.

What will happen in the next chapter? Will they meet young Bellatrix? I'm exciteeeeeed!
