Waking up to a sliver of light coming through the curtains in her bedroom, Sylvie rolls over. She notices that the hard wood floor is under her, and pain goes racing through the left side of her body. Still dazed and confused, Sylvie finally manages to sit up.

"What the hell?" Grabbing her left side. Trying to think about the prior night. One of the last things she remembers is being with Casey. She remembers feeling so happy that hers and Casey's relationship was starting to evolve into something a little more serious. She then remembers hearing something break and going into her room and seeing a broken lamp on the floor and her window open. She also remembers a new note and new pictures. The last thing she remembers is the pain she felt on her left side. That was the last thing she remembered before her world turned black.

Gingerly she gets up off the floor and walks into the bathroom. Lifter her shirt, she sees the massive bruise that has formed on her left side. She knows she has some broken ribs, and praying that is the only thing. Trying to decide if she wants to go to Med to get checked out, she finally decides against it. She knows if she goes, it would get out and she does not want to deal with that.

After taking a shower, Sylvie's paramedic training kicks in. She takes some pain relievers and tries her best to tape up her side. When she is finished taping her side, her phone rings. Picking up her phone, she gives a slight sigh when she sees Casey's name appear.

"Hello," Sylvie says. Hoping that she sounds normal.

"Hey. How are you this morning?" Casey asks in a chipper voice.

"Doing good." She lies. "Just got up a few minutes ago."

"Really? It's 11 o'clock."

"Yeah. I guess I didn't realize how tired I was."

"Well, how does a nice home cooked meal sound to you?" Casey asks.

"Sounds wonderful to me. What do you have in mind?" As amazing as it sounds to Sylvie. Wanting to spend more quiet time with Casey, but in reality all she really wants to do is just stay at home in bed.

"Well Severide and Kidd wanted to grill out tonight. Steak, baked potatoes and a nice wine?" She can hear the excitement in his voice.

"Sounds amazing Matt. What time should I be there?"

"Well since you don't have your car back yet, I can come by and pick you up anytime you want."

Hearing the words rush out of her mouth, "No need for that Matt. I have a few things to do around the house, then a spin class. I'll just take an uber to your place when I'm done." She knows it will be hard to play off her injuries tonight, she doesn't want it pretend she is ok for any longer than she has to.

"Are you sure? I don't mind Sylvie."

"I know Matt. I appreciate it."

"Okay. So I will see you after your spin class. Just so you know, be prepared for a night of relaxation and me pampering you."

"I'm gonna hold you to that Matt Casey." She can hear Casey laughing at that, and it made her feel happy until she moved and the pain shot through her.

Telling Casey she had to go, she hung up and just sat on the couch. Wondering what she was going to do with this mess she is in. A lone tear trickled down her check. Finally she looked at her watch and realized an hour had passed, she got up, went and took a shower and got dressed to start her day.

While waiting for her Uber outside, she feels the hairs on the back of her neck stand up. A feeling of being watched washes over her. Just as she is about to back out of her day, her Uber pulls up. She gets in and leaves.

Once she gets to her destination, she gets out of the car, wanders up to the front door, takes a deep breath and pulls the door open. She knows she is doing the right thing, but she also thinks that maybe by coming here she is going to make things worse.

"Well, well, well, look what that cat dragged in." Trudy says in her monotone voice.

"Hi Trudy. Is, um, Upton or Burgess in" Sylvie asks in a small voice.

"Well I don't know. Why don't I just stop what I'm doing and call upstairs just for you." Trudy says in her now sarcastic voice.

Sylvie takes no offense to her tone. She has known Trudy long time and she actually kinda likes her sarcastic tone.

"Thank you Trudy."

As she is waiting, so much is going through her mind. All the bad things that have been happening at work and in her personal life, especially with Casey. She knows Casey is the best thing that has ever happened to her. She also wonders when everything comes out, will every one hate her.

"Hey Sylvie." Upton greets her as she is coming down the stairs.

"Hi," Sylvie responds. She is also starting to feel like she is making the worst decision in her life by just being there.

"What can I do for you?" Upton knows Sylvie has been keeping something from her and she is hoping that Sylvie is here to tell her what's going on.

Not able to look Upton in the eyes, knowing the words that were about to come out of her mouth was a lie, "Um, I was just wondering if you had any leads on what happened to my car." Stumbling over her words, "Or that crazy thing with the breakfast that was delivered to me."

"No. No real leads. We are running plates, make and models of vehicles that was in the area the day your car was damaged from the street cameras, and we did some knocking on doors to see if anyone saw anything out of place. Unfortunately no one saw anything out of the ordinary and the street cameras showed nothing unusual." Upton said.

Opening her mouth to tell Upton everything that has been going on, but instead Sylvie says, "Oh. Ok. I was in the neighborhood and I thought I would just stop by and check."

Upton decides to push the envelope just a little "Sylvie, you know that if you need to talk about anything, you can always talk to me. I am here to help you." Grabbing Sylvie's hands she adds, "I know something is going on with you and that you are holding back, but I can't help you unless you talk to me."

Sylvie is now looking at Upton in the eyes. Tears are forming. She instantly pulls her hands out of Upton's and whispers, "I can't." With that, Sylvie runs out of the precinct. Pain ripping through her side, reminding her of why she can't say anything.

Trudy is watching the scene play out. After she watches Sylvie run out she says, "She's holding back something big."

"I know. But how do I get her to open up?" Upton turns and looks at Trudy, sighing, "She's scared of something."

Sylvie is running down the street, crying. She is in pain, but she does not know what to do next. She is confused. Wondering why someone picked her to go after. Searching her mind trying to think if she has pissed anyone off so bad that they would want to come after her, but she comes up with nothing. Right now all she wants to do is to go home, wrap herself up in a blanket and go to sleep. On the other hand she thinks maybe spending some time with Casey might help her forget what's going on.

After catching another Uber, Sylvie is dropped off at Casey's place. She goes inside, takes a deep breath at his door and knocks.

"Hi beautiful." Casey greets her with a kiss on the cheek.

"Hey Matt." Sylvie says back. Just as she is about to put her arms around Casey for a hug, she hears Stella yelling.

"Sylvie! Girl hurry up and get in here. I need to show you something."

Glancing up at Casey, they both just start to laugh. "Well I guess I need to see what Stella wants." Casey gives a sigh as Sylvie starts to walk past him, she stops, turns around and gives Casey an unexpected kiss. Pulling back from him, she gives him a smile and walks away.

Severide watching everything go down, he walks up to Casey giving him a cat who swallowed the canary look. "What?" Casey says.

"Nothing man." Severide say with a smile still on his face "Just happy for ya." He gives Casey a slap on the back and walks to small balcony where the grill is.

Casey follows him outside. Just as they light the grill they hear, "OMG! I love it" and that if followed by "I know, right."

"Sounds like the wedding planning is going good." Casey says.

"I'm gonna buy it," they hear Stella say.

"Sounds expensive," Severide mumbles. Casey cannot help but to laugh.

When the grill is ready, Severide pokes his head inside and yells, "Hey. We're ready to put the steaks & potatoes on."

"Ok. Sounds good." Stella says as she closes her laptop.

As Stella and Sylvie get up off of the couch, Severide notices Sylvie winces in pain as she moves. He walks inside and goes up to Sylvie, "Hey. Are you ok?"

"Oh, um, yeah." Sylvie stutters. "I, um, just slept wrong last night and have a kink in my back." She knows she is a bad liar, and she hopes Severide doesn't notice she is lying to him.

"Ok." He says, but follows it up with "If you say so," under his breath. Stella hears what he says and just gives him a look. A look that says, behave.

As the steak and potatoes are cooking on the grill, the girls are inside make salads for everyone. As the time passes, salads are done and the wine has been poured, and Severide walks back inside with the food. Casey follows him after making sure the grill has been turned off.

"Severide, the food smells amazing." Sylvie tells him. "I am starving."

"Same here." Stella says also.

As they sit down to eat, they are all talking and laughing with each other. Sylvie feels almost relaxed, that is until every time she goes to reach for something, then the pain shoots right through her. It's a constant reminder of what happened the night before.

When dinner is done and the kitchen is clean, they move into the living room. There is more wedding talk between the girls and the guys are talking about some of the latest calls they have been on. After a while goes by, Sylvie lets out a yawn and says, "Hey guys, this night has been a blast, but I think it's about time for me to head home."

As she grabs her phone to request an Uber, Casey says, "You know you can stay here tonight if you want. You can take my room."

"Thank you Matt, but I have so much I need to do tomorrow." As much as she wants to stay, she really just wants to be alone.

"Ok." Casey says with a slight pause, "At least you can do is let me take you home."

"Matt, I don't want to be a bother."

This is when Casey cuts her off, "Sylvie. It's no bother. I'm taking you home."

Giving him a smile, she gingerly stands up. Severide again notices the pain on her face. After she gives Stella a hug goodbye, she turns to say goodbye to Severide. To her surprise, Severide puts his arms around her and gives her a squeeze. Just enough pressure for him to hear her gasp in pain. Tears start to form in her eyes, but she blinks them away. Severide is now looking at her in the eyes. He knows for sure that there is something wrong.

After Casey and Sylvie walk out the door, Severide turns to Stella and says, "What's going on with Brett?"

"What do you mean?" Stella sounds confused by this.

"Stella, she's been in pain all night. How did you not notice?"

Stella is staring at Severide "You heard her. She said she slept wrong."

"Yeah, ok," he said back kind of snippy, "If you say so, but I'm telling you Stella, there is something wrong with her."

Stella knows that Severide's instincts are usually pretty spot on, "Ok, fine. I will talk to her tomorrow." All Severide can do is shake his head ok.

Pulling up to Sylvie's, Casey gets out of his truck, goes around to open Sylvie's door and helps her out. Walking up to her door, as much as Sylvie wants to invite him in, she doesn't know what may be waiting for her on the other side of the door, so she fakes a yawn.

"Thank you so much for a wonderful evening Matt."

"I'm glad you enjoyed it. If felt good just staying in and have a quiet night with friends." Casey says with a big smile forming across his face.

Sylvie returns the smile and wraps her arms around Casey's neck. He in returns wraps his arms around her waist and pulls her closer. As he does this, she sucks in some air as the pain goes up her side.

"Sylvie, are you ok? Did I hurt you?" Casey says with a look of worry on his face as he loosens the grip he has on her.

"No. I'm fine." Sylvie says with a slight laugh. "Like I said earlier, I just slept wrong and tweaked my back." She hates lying, but she especially hates lying to Casey.

"Well can I get you inside and help you get situated?"

"NO." Sylvie says a little too loud and too excited. "The place is a mess from this afternoon. I was looking for my favorite shoes for my Zumba class."

Taken back a little, "Oh, ok." Casey knows she said she had a spin class earlier and not a zumba class, but he doesn't say anything.

"Thanks again Matt. It was an amazing night." She reaches up and places her lips on his. A kiss that started out sweet, has now turned into something that was full of passion. Something that neither one of them wanted to end. That is until Casey hit her side again and she again gasped in pain. That broke the mood real quick.

"Well, I'm gonna go inside now. Goodnight Matt." Sylvie said while unlocking her door.

Knowing something is feeling a little off, Casey decides not to push it. "Goodnight Sylvie. Get some rest." He leans in and gives her one last kiss and then he leaves.

Opening her door slowly, she carefully walks in. Turning on her lights, everything looks normal. Sylvie thinks to herself, 'maybe they didn't see me go to the police station.' She goes into the kitchen, takes a pain reliever, she decides she is going to go to bed. Walking into her bedroom she turns on the lights. That's when she sees it. Her bed is slashed to ribbons. Not just her bed, but her pillows, bedding, blankets, clothes, everything. In the middle of the bed, she sees a picture. It's a picture of her from today walking into the 21st. In the picture is a big red X across her face. Sobbing she runs out of her room and slams the door.

As she makes it back into the living room, her phone starts to ring. Without looking to see who is calling she answers, "Hello." There is no answer. "Hello," she says louder. "Who is this?"

All of a sudden she hears a laugh. A laugh she recognizes. All she hears is "Bitch, no one will help you. You fucked up this time by going to the cops and now you must pay." And with that the phone goes dead.
