-Chapter 12-
The Crossing Pt. 1

"The time has finally come, it's been a month of preparation for myself, Rose, and Eiko. We've all been preparing ourselves for the elements that will occur throughout the Outer Continent. Neither Rose and I have ever been before, it certainly will more than likely be cold since the winters is coming soon. We made sure to pack up our necessary warm clothing for the trip. It's still a bit warm now but I'm certain when mother was traveling, she was able to helm all the elements so well. I must be confident in myself to withstand the unknown elements out there.

We will be taking the gargan from beneath the palace, crossing through Fossil Roo directly to the Outer Continent. We will then be traversing through Conde Petie then through mountain paths of the village, followed by crossing Lucid Plains, finally on the Banyanno Shores will be mother's true home; Madain Sari. During this venture, I know it'll be my first time experiencing mother's ideas come to life; I never really had the opportunity to see all the new construction that extended our gargan route to Fossil Roo and seeing all the merchants of Alexandria see their wares transported. It will certainly be an experience to see and better for me to understand how every decision she made affects those around us.

Turning sixteen certainly has been quite eventful, though I never really did think about whatever happened to that noble who I blinded…a part of me is still upset over the fact they offended myself, my family, my friend and even Zoe. Mother said her and papa took care of it already, I guess I shouldn't really concern myself since they always have everything under control. Right now I should remain focus on the task ahead, I undertook this path and I must follow through with it.

The dreams still continue…the white light and the voice are still there…"

"I can't believe this day has come, you've grown so much since the day we first met."

"Neither can I but…I know that what I am about to do holds much meaning in my heart."

"You truly have embraced yourself so well, I'm hopeful that you will find the answers you are looking for in Madain Sari, I know you, Rose and Lady Eiko will certainly succeed.

"It means so much to hear you say that Nadine."

Nadine smiled.

"Your Highness, in the years I've served you and your family, it has been a pleasure to be by your side and be accepted as part of your family as well." Nadine said as she gently adjusted her glasses.

"Nadine, I wouldn't have been here if it was not for your assistance as well…you've helped my mother and I so much during childhood. She is who she is thanks to you and we are forever grateful to have welcomed you into our lives. I will dearly miss your while we are away." Sarah smiled as put on her mother's white robe.

Nadine reached for the robe's collar and gently tied it together with the red bow attached from one of the collars, she gently pulled together the seams of the robe closing it as much as it can, covering the Princess in her mother's orange jumpsuit. Sarah then pulled the hood over her head, laying it just above her forewarned as Nadine stepped back with the finishing touches done. Sarah smiled at her maid feeling pleased with the end results.

"Nadine." Sarah said as Nadine gently brushed her own hands.

"Hmmm? What is it Your Highness?"

"…Am I pretty?" Sarah laughed softly.

Nadine let out a soft laugh and placed her right hand over her cheek.

"I will never be bored of ever being asked that question Your Highness." Nadine smiled.

Sarah smiled.

"Our morning traditions."

"A wonderful tradition that never dies." Nadine lowered her hand and crossed her arms. "You will always be pretty, no matter how old you become."

Sarah nodded.

"Do you think everyone else is ready?"

"I am more than certain that they are, there is no need to rush; you've all the time you need before you leave." Nadine uncrossed her arms and gently fluffed the hood, allowing Sarah to see more clearly around her.

"Hmm, Mei mentioned she wanted to do something with me before I leave?"

"She does, she will be back shortly; she had to retrieve something from our room." Nadine said as she lowered her arms.

"I see I see…I wanted to make sure I thanked her for helping me dress up, both of you do so much for me I…I'm going to miss waking up in the mornings not knowing that you both won't be the first I see anymore."

"Your Highness." Nadine sighed happily.

"You certainly forgot the other times when you were in Lindblum, Treno, Dali, and goodness even South Gate as well." The maid jokingly wagged her finger.

"Hehe but it's not the same when you're home. With you and Mei always here every morning, I always love the chats we have before the day starts, even when there's a chance we may not see one another later on."

"Aww, I do appreciate your kind words Your Highness, you will surely be missed here."

Sarah smiled, she stepped closer to Nadine and gently embraced the maid. Nadine gently embraced the princess as well.

"Nadine, I've always seen as you as the older sibling I've never had."

"And you will always be in my eyes the young child who ran around the palace full of energy and full of spirit."

The two pulled away from one another, Nadine held her pendant and looked to it.

"And I will always value the lifelong memories your family have offered me. I couldn't have found a more perfect home than here."

Sarah smiled.

"Even though your…family passed?"

Nadine nodded.

"My parents are smiling somewhere out there, knowing that I am well, safe, and in good hands."

"Surely they are happy for you Nadine. As am I also for you. I hope you and Mei won't be too bored without me around."

Nadine let out a soft chuckle.

"We'll try not to be, I'm most certain Melody may have something for us in the mean time until your return." The maid smiled.

Sarah smiled, the door to her room opened up as Mei came in, breathing heavily. She closed the door and approached the two as they watched, she curtseyed the Sarah and fanned herself a free hand while she held a small mala wooden beaded bracelet; with various calligraphy on each bead; in her other hand.

"Much apologies you two, I thought I had lost my prayer bracelet." Mei said still trying to catch her breath.

"It's alright Mei, you didn't have to rush for me." Sarah smiled.

"Apologies Your Highness, I didn't wish to hold your time too long."

"Did you need an extra moment to catch your breath Mei?" Nadine asked as she patted the back of her friend. Mei shook her head and smiled; she looked to her friend.

"Nay sister, I will be alright." Mei looked to Sarah. "Your Highness, I hope you don't mind me offering a prayer for your venture; I know you don't believe in my religion but it gives me comfort knowing you'll be alright."

Sarah smiled.

"Mei I welcome everyone's beliefs here, if this helps bring you comfort I would never say no. In fact, anytime I see you perform your prayers, it's beautiful. All your beautiful words sound poetic and it's always pleasing to the ears to hear your voice perform."

"Awww thank you so much Your Highness, it really means a lot hearing from you." Mei smiled.

"The same goes for me, every night before we sleep, hearing your words at night calms me and makes sleeping more pleasant." Nadine added as Mei looked to her.

"It does? Oh sister that means so much to hear!" Mei sighed happily. "I always feel nervous since many people fret against my people's beliefs. I mean no harm to others, it brings us comfort and we are always welcoming to those who seek comfort."

"Is it because of what happened when step-grandmother was around?" Sarah asked.

Mei gently nodded.

"It was…many people thought of us as ruthless and cold hearted…yet we're peaceful; I know then I would've looked down upon but…at least now a days I've no reason to be as fearful; it's just some part of me does have that sense of fear…"

"Hmm I fully understand, well here we welcome you with open arms as we did when mother first brought you here." Sarah smiled.

"And I will always be at your side when anyone wishes harm upon you dear sister." Nadine added.

Mei looked between Nadine and Sarah, and let out a relieving sigh.

"Thank you both, for making me feel welcomed." She said happily. Nadine and Sarah smiled, Nadine removed her hand from Mei's back. "I dearly do apologize, may we begin?"

Sarah nodded.

"Normally I would ask one to kneel however I don't wish to as-"

Sarah kneeled before Mei as she looked up to her in shock.

"But…Your Highness…this is most unhea-"

"Mei, I see no one below or above me, I see everyone as equals, no one should ever have to feel they are smaller than anyone else. I wish to do this the proper way and not altered just because I am a Princess. You and Nadine both know the truth and I embrace it wholeheartedly. I am just like the both of you." Sarah said confidently as Mei felt surprised.

"Your Highness…" Mei sighed. "I will always be amazed by your open mindedness."

Sarah smiled.

"Please by all means." Sarah said; her tailed gently curled itself on the ground.

Mei nodded, Nadine smiled and took a few steps away from the two, as Mei extended her hand with bracelet in hand above Sarah's head and closed her eyes.

"Reis of Burmecia whose voice I hear in the winds, whose breath gives life to all the world. Reis of Burmecia, blesseth this child of your divine protection from those who wish to cause harm to her as she ventures into the world outside thy walls."

Mei opened her eyes and lowered the bracelet gently brushing against the forehead of Sarah, the Princess closed her eyes and slightly lowered her head.

"Give her thy strength and wisdom, let her walk in the beauty and make her eyes ever behold the red and purple sunset. Bless this child to make her hands respect the world you have made and her ears sharp to hear your voice. Mayeth be she becomes wise so she may understand the teachings of our people, let her learn the lessons you have hidden in every leaf and rock. May she seek strength, not to be greater than our brothers and sisters, but fight her greatest enemy, herself. Make her always come ready to come to you with clean hands and straight eyes; so when life fades, as the fading sunset. May her spirit come to you without shame."

Mei pulled away her bracelet, with her free hand she gently brushed Sarah's forehead across; parts of the Princess's hair flowed along as Sarah felt a relieving sensation from the Burmecian's hand. The Princess' spine felt the relaxing feeling spurring across to the end of her tail. She opened her blue eyes meeting with Mei's gentle green eyes.

"And may Reis be your guide to the world around you dear child, may Reis bless your health and spirit and bring you everlasting inner peace."

Mei gently shook the bracelet as the sounds of the colliding beads echoed in Sarah's room. Nadine smiled as her friend continued shaking the bracelet. It's calm and soothing sounds relaxed everyone in the room. The colliding beads began to sound in rhythm as Mei began humming.

Sarah closed her eyes as she listened to the humming of her maid, she could feel her voice telling a story. Many memories of her interaction with Mei since they first met flashed before the Princess' eyes, they gave her warmth and peace. She slowly opened her eyes as Mei slowly finished her hums. The maid beckoned Sarah to rise, Sarah nodded and stood up before the maid.

"May you go in peace with Reis' blessings now young child." Mei said happily giving the bracelet one last shake.

"Mei…that was beautiful, I loved every moment of it." Sarah smiled while putting her hands together.

"Aww thank you, I'm happy you enjoy the prayer. I was a bit nervous since…I know you say you're no Princess yet…I keep reminding myself you are an open minded person." Mei smiled.

"I am honored to have been offered a prayer from you Mei. It makes me feel appreciative of you as part of our family." Sarah said as she bowed to the Burmecian.

"Your Highness, I'm humbled by your words."

"Hehe thank you again Mei, and thank you for all you've done for me and my family as well. I wouldn't be here if it weren't for your help as well. I know how much being here with Nadine has helped your life feel whole again."

"It..it certainly has Your Highness and I'm grateful for all that has been done for the both of us." Mei looked to Nadine as she smiled back.

"We wouldn't have been reunited if it weren't for your mother and we would've not been here if it weren't for you as well." Nadine said as stepped closer to her friend and placed a hand behind her back.

"And now we both have a place to call our home thanks to you." Mei said as she too placed a hand behind Nadine's back. Sarah smiled with delight as the two maids looked to her. She bowed her head to them as they did the same.

"Thank you both, for all your kind words."

The maids nodded.

"Well Your Highness…I believe we are all done now…are you ready?" Nadine asked as she and Mei lowered their hands by their sides.

Sarah looked between Nadine and Mei slowly, giving one last thought before she gave her answer. This moment she was leaving her home for a higher calling, to learn about her heritage, to learn about the mysterious dreams and the mysterious woman. She closed her eyes for a brief moment then opened them with confidence.

"I am ready." She said proudly.

The maids nodded.

"Your mother is awaiting outside." Mei said as she and Nadine took a step to the side as they both extended their arms towards the double doors. Sarah looked around her room one last time; she took a moment to embrace the place she lived in her entire life, feeling as if she will never return again. She took a look at the plants on her tea table, gifted by Rose. She looked at the painting of the palace, then out to the windows that lead to the view of the home her mother rules. She looked back at her maids with a smile and nodded.

"Let us be on our way."

Sarah began walking, passing the maids as they followed behind her, she opened the double doors leading the grand hall and saw her mother in the distance with an excited Zoe barking happily as she and Garnet saw the princess come out of her room. Zoe rushed towards Sarah; stopping her in tracks; the excited pet circled between the legs of everyone as Sarah softly laughed. "Zoe! Aren't we a bit excited now?" She cooed the dog.

"My she's just as excited as you are Your Highness." Mei complimented.

"Oh Zoe I don't think she knows she's coming along too." Sarah said.

"Hehe I believe she'll enjoy her travels as well while she's with you Your Highness." Nadine smiled.

"Hmm! Come on Zoe, let's not keep mother waiting now." Sarah said as she patted her lap signaling the dog to follow her as she resumed her walk to her mother. The Queen observed everyone and was happy to see everyone in a happy mood. Her daughter approached her; Sarah and the maids curtseyed the Queen as she studied her daughter in full incognito to the rest of the world.

"You look beautiful Sarah; I'm very happy to see how well this suits you well." Garnet said.

"Mother I can't thank you enough for allowing me to bore your outfit for this journey. I know how much it means to you and papa and I won't let either of you down during this venture. I know I'll have Rose and cousin Eiko by my side but I won't forget everything you've taught me." Sarah said smiling.

"Sarah…" Garnet felt a tear escape from her eye, she gently wiped away the tear as it trickled down her cheek. She placed her hands on her daughter's cheeks; the soft skin palms felt relaxing to Sarah, she saw in her mother's brown eyes how proud she was of her. "I am more than confident you will succeed in your journey."

Sarah placed her gloved hands against her mother's; the soft fabric inside of her gloves brushed against her own soft hands, the leather against Garnet's hands felt relaxing to the her. Garnet gently removed her hands and tenderly grabbed her daughter's hands lower them to see her daughter underneath her robe, seeing her calm blue eyes.

"I want you to never forget that I love you very much and always will support your decisions no matter where you are in the world. You will always be my daughter before anything else to the world."

Sarah nodded.

"I won't mother…I won't ever forget you and papa and everyone else here." She said.

The Queen nodded.

"Are you ready?"

Sarah nodded confidently.

"I am mother."

"Let us make our way to the gangro; I'm certain everyone else is awaiting for you." Garnet said.

"Hmm! Yes let's make our way."

Garnet extended her hand towards the hall's exit, Sarah nodded and led the way as the Queen followed beside her daughter and the maids and Zoe from behind. The troupe approached the doors, before Sarah pushed the doors open and spotted Zidane next to the stairway leading down to the main foyer of the palace. The genome looked to his daughter and blinked in disbelief, she walked ahead first while everyone stayed behind to watch the father and daughter share an all too familiar moment to Zidane.

Sarah stopped halfway on the balcony, as her father continued to do a double take and shake his head. He leaned forward trying to study Sarah's face, she giggled under her breath; she remembers the story all too well.

"Is something on my face?" Sarah teasingly said as Zidane shook his head realizing it wasn't a dream.

"HUH? Oh…no no…I just had déjà vu…" Zidane said as he brushed the back of his hair as Sarah then laughed softly.

"Hehe oh papa." Sarah walked to her father and embraced him, the confused genome then embraced his daughter.

"Whose idea was this?" He asked; Sarah shook her head.

"It was my own, I wanted you to think I was mother."

"Jeez…I almost fell for it, but what about the dress and robe?"

"Hmm it was all mother's idea…she wanted me to wear it." The two pulled away from one another as Zidane studied his daughter. "I'm actually honored to embrace mother's wardrobe…I've always wondered what it was like to traverse the world as her discreet name and…I hope you and mother won't mind if-"

Zidane placed a finger on his daughter's lips stopping her mid speech.

"I would never say no to you Sarah and neither would your mom. If it's your wish to carry on your mom's legacy, then by all means go for it." He said as he lowered his hand.

"Oh papa, thank you." Sarah sighed happily as Zidane smiled.

Zidane looked past his daughter's shoulder seeing Garnet and the maids all with smiles. The Queen winked to him as he let out a smirk. He looked back to his daughter.

"Sarah, I want you to remember that I'm very proud of you for all you've done in your life to get to this point. Your heart and kindness will always prevail in the road ahead of you; don't ever forget everything that we've taught you and you will always have a place to call home no matter where you are in the world. We will always be here for you." Zidane said placed his hands on his daughter's shoulders.

"Papa…" she paused as she looked into his blue eyes. "I'm very happy to have been born with you and mother. I know many people would give to be in my shoes…thinking my life is easy but…if they saw what I see; they probably wouldn't want to be here…but I am here and I'm happy to be in this position. I've fully embraced of what kind of family we are and…and I wouldn't wish it any other way." Sarah said proudly.

Zidane sighed happily, to this very day he still never thought he would become a father like figure to anyone. His daughter stood tall and proud before him; the years he spent balancing life as a theatre actor and father was no easy task for him. The sixteen years of looking out for his daughter and wife while working all together raise her, along with the help of those close to them, helped shaped Sarah to way she is at this moment. Zidane took his left hand and laid it on his daughter's cheek, he could see much of Garnet in her, even if she was not wearing her mother's clothing, he still sees much of Garnet in her.

"I hope we raised you well angel." He said.

Sarah nodded happily.

"You both have papa, you both have."

Zidane lowered his hands.

"I guess…it's time huh?"

"Hmmm! I'm ready papa."

Zidane smiled, he leaned against the railing letting his daughter take the first step forward as he and the rest of the group followed the princess down the stairs. She kept looking around herself, looking at every part of the palace, the muted sound of her boots hitting the carpet made each step she made feel more confident as she followed its path to the foyer of the palace.

She continued to follow along the red carpet; she spotted her family portrait dead ahead as everyone continued along, the turned right at the fork following along as she kept her eyes on the painting. It began getting closer and closer as she following along the path until she found herself walking down the stairway right along the painting; still with her eyes attach to it. She then turned her attention towards the last set of stairs leading to the ground floor of the foyer as the marble flooring echoed to the sound of her boots and everyone else behind her.

She then paused her walk as everyone followed suite, she turned around to everyone as they all looked to her.

"Is everything alright?" Garnet asked.

"Hmm, I'm alright I just…wanted to look at our family painting one last time." Sarah said as she looked up. The rest decided to partake in the moment with her; Sarah smiled as she looked to her family painting.

She could recall the long hours she had to sit still for the painting, while Zoe on the other hand had more plans for the family. Their pet was the only who consistently couldn't restrain herself from the excitement of being in the present of the entire family. Garnet found herself having to restrain Zoe the most while Zidane kept feeding her treats to calm her down for at least a good hour or so. Sarah at times gently pet Zoe with her foot, since she was close to her, that helped kept the pet down and calm.

Moments like that made the painting more memorable to Sarah. She did at times feel her parent's hands behind her holding one another tightly as if they never wanted to let go of each other; which Zidane had always told Sarah he would never with to lose her mother. Every time Sarah passed by their family painting she could a moment to relish in its entirety. She could never forget her mother's request for everyone to be themselves in the photo. The Princess knew her mother wanted everyone to be true to who they are for the world to see.

Sarah sighed happily and looked back to her entire family before her, the family in the painting may be the eyes of Alexandria, but inside the palace walls she knew her family was larger, she knew everyone around her had always had their best interest for her.

"I won't ever forget our family and that extends to everyone here; I owe my life to all of you for all that you've done for me." Sarah announced proudly.

Everyone smiled to the princess.

"And none of us will forget the memories we all made together." Garnet said as everyone agreed.

"You'll always have a home here Sarah." Zidane said.

"We'll always be at your side no matter where you are Your Highness." Nadine said.

"And we'll always watch over you in your time of need." Mei said.

Sarah smiled and bowed to her family happily.

"Thank you…everyone…I'm…I'm sorry if I'm taking too long." The princess said.

"Take all the time you need; we are on your time now." Garnet smiled.

Sarah nodded and smiled back.

"Then…I musn't delay any longer, let's be off now." Sarah said.

Sarah turned to the entrance of the palace and made her way; along with the rest of the group following along. The sun was beaming bright and warm against the Princess, she continued to look around her surrounding; as if she may never come back again. She admired all the changes she has seen in the years she has lived at the palace. Never has she ever left for any longer duration than needed; her longest time away from Alexandria only lasted a week in Lindblum, with small trips to Dali, Treno, Burmecia, and the shores of the Mist Continent. Her only adventures outside of the continent was lived through books in the palace's library and from her parents stories. She had always wanted to visit Mikoto in Black Mage Village but her time was so limited with lessons and dignitary visits to nearby villages and kingdoms.

The group continued forth around the palace, heading towards the gargan station below the palace; the entire area had been renovated to appear more welcoming than damped as it was. The new paint lightened the area well, the old statues in the entire area was polished as if it were newly constructed, the trap that once captured the Queen had been removed from the area they had just crossed, now allowing free travel flow for any dignitaries to come to the palace without too much attention being drawn if needed. Sarah could see some remnants of the trap as several cobblestones had different coloring from the other stones.

The group had arrived into the gargan station, the mist no longer flowed through the tunnels as they did in the past, the large gargan creature could be seen as the group was approaching the carriage it held; spotting Beatrix, Steiner, Rose, and Eiko loading up the three large leather satchels. Sarah felt the excitement brewing in her spotting her friend in the distance, she noted Eiko's wardrobe seemed to be similar to what she wore during her ventures with Garnet, Zidane and friends.

It featured a red long sleeve puffed blouse tucked in to her leather brown gloves, a pink mock petticoat; with suspenders and white frills covering her blouse; with several brown leather belts around her waist and hips, including a brown leather mock chest plate with an embedded wings design just above her upper torso. A yellow puffed out shorts with white frill at the seams, and one leather shin guard brace on her right leg and modified brown slip ons. A pair of white feather wings can be spotted on her back just slightly above her upper back.

She was impressed by her cousin's wardrobe as she and the group approached the carriage. Eiko looked over from inside the carriage taking note of an all too familiar outfit she once traveled with.

"A classic never dies huh?" The summoner teased as Beatrix and Steiner looked up spotting the entire group; they instinctively turned their attention to the family giving out a salute.

"Your Majesty, Your Highness." They spoke together as Rose looked over spotting her friend.

"Oh…Sarah! Glad to see you've made it safely." She said turning her full attention to her friend.

The small entourage and Sarah stopped before everyone; Eiko and Rose stepped off the carriage and stood ready before the group as Steiner and Beatrix lowered their hands. Sarah studied the area; the air was clean despite being underground; she smiled towards Rose and Eiko feeling excited.

"Hmm thank you cousin and it's great to see you and Rose here." Sarah smiled.

"You ready!?" Eiko asked as she started tying her hair.

"I am, is everything all loaded?" The princess asked as Eiko nodded.

"Yup! We're all ready to go here, say did you remember to have Zoe relieve herself before we make our way out?" Eiko looked at the happy dog as she shook her tail in excitement.

"We made sure she did before we met with Sarah; I can assure you it'll be quite a while before she relieves herself again." Garnet smiled as she lowered herself a bit and began brushing Zoe's forehead.

"Oh thank gods! I like Zoe and all but I don't wanna smell any of that!" Eiko finished tying her hair into a pony tail and let out a disgusted look. "I don't even think the gargan would wanna smell any of that anyways." Eiko jokingly plugged her nose with her hand as Sarah laughed.

"Cousin you're too funny." The Princess smiled.

"Is there perhaps anything else we can do for your while we are present?" Steiner asked as he looked over to the three satchels loaded.

"I don't think so, I think we got everything we need." Eiko looked over to Steiner.

"Hmm Sarah, is there anything else you need from us that would help assure your travels are best suited for you?" Garnet asked as she stood up.

"Hmmm I don't believe so mother, let me see real quick." Sarah said as she glanced over her shoulder to her mother. She then carefully walk onto the carriage with Eiko following along; the two opened a satchel with a fainted label S on it.

"Let's see…sleep wear, spare clothes, a few books, and some paper for writing." Sarah noted inside.

"In hindsight we don't really need much; if anything the moogles can always go out for us to bring us back any more supplies we need in Madain Sari." Eiko said as she tied the satchel; shutting it.

"Hmm…just want to be sure." Garnet said.

"Sarah if you need anything else from us; you can always write us and we'll get it shipped out to ya." Zidane said.

Sarah shook her head.

"Mother, papa, I know you mean well. I want to be able to handle this all on my own, if that's alright with you." Sarah as she stepped off the carriage with Eiko.

"Hmm we understand; we just want you to have everything you need for this venture." Garnet said letting out a smile.

"I'm sure the Outer Continent isn't what it used to be when we were out there back then but be aware of your surroundings." Zidane said.

Sarah nodded; she walked to her parents while Rose looked to her parents as well.

"Mother…Father…I'm…I'm grateful for your consent on letting partake in this venture with Sarah and Eiko." The young woman smiled. Beatrix was surprised by her daughter's highly motivated aura. The conversation she and Rose had about partaking in Sarah's venture to Madain Sari was the first time Rose took the reins of her life and overcame her self-inflicted pressure.

Her point of someday leaving Alexandria permanently was on the table and she wanted to prove to her parents she can live a solo life. Beatrix noted her daughter's ambitions to her life, she had begun planning for when the time came, yet still wanted to prove to her and Steiner that she is capable of being able to survive on her own.

"Rose, I'm very proud of you for taking on this responsibility, we are more than certain that you will be able to helm your efforts of being self-sufficient on you own." Beatrix smiled as Steiner nodded.

"We understand this goes without say; you've made your decision and will still support it no matter what. All we ask that you do be careful with yourself and do ask for Eiko for assistance too." Steiner said.

Rose nodded.

"I shall father; I know you and Lady Eiko fared well when you were on your ventures with Her Majesty and Lord Zidane. She will be my guidance while we venture to Madain Sari and being able to learn how she was able to live by herself when she was orphaned." Rose said.

"Do take her word to heart Rose; she will do everything she can to teach you the meaning of being self-sufficient." Beatrix smiled.

Rose looked over her shoulder seeing the summoning waving towards her with a grin. She couldn't help but let out a soft chuckle and looked back at her parents.

"Mother…father…I…I will miss you both…"

A twisted feeling like sensation struck the two knights in the chest; it was rare for their daughter to ever express her feelings of missing her parents. This was not a norm for her yet at the same time they parents realized their daughter is growing up and she is becoming independent. They knew their words and upbringing of Rose had finally brought them peace knowing they did well as parents.

The young lady smiled at her parents and gently bowed to them. A tiny sensation feeling trickled through Beatrix's eye, as a tiny hint of a tear crept out, on instinct Beatrix immediately wiped it away that caught her daughter's eyes.

"Mother are…are yo-"

"Just something in my eye that's all." The General interrupted shaking her head. Steiner looked over feeling confused.

"Are you…alright?" He asked.

Beatrix shifted her eye immediately towards her husband with the look of a murderer on her face. He let out a gulp while Rose couldn't help but to let out another soft chuckle.

"Mother, please don't hurt father before I come home." Rose teased; Beatrix looked to her daughter in awe by her words.

"Rose…I…I never thought you would say such words." The confused General said. Rose smiled.

"I…I've never felt any better to being more…confident in myself to be more outspoken and be more playful when…the moment feels appropriate."

Beatrix let out a silent sigh and placed a hand on Rose's shoulder.

"You've grown so much Rose, I'm very proud of you." Beatrix smiled.

"And you'll continue to always grow even from this day forward." Steiner added while letting out a smile.

Rose looked to her father then to her mother, the words made her feel appreciated, and she nodded. She extended her left arm gently wrapping it around her mother's hip while her right arm extended out signaling her father to all share a family embrace with each other. Steiner walked in placing his left arm around his daughter and his right arm around his wife. Beatrix let her right arm around her husband; the entire family embraced each other.

"I won't let you both down." Rose said.

"You never have and never will Rose." Beatrix assured.

"We've always been proud of you." Steiner added.

Rose smiled and the family gently pulled away from one another.

"Hey, where's Melody and Allison? I thought they would be here before I leave?" Sarah called out as she looked around the area.

"They should be here shortly, they needed to needed to prepare for a guest that's arriving today; I'm certain they will not miss this chance to see you before you leave." Garnet said.

"I'd be heartbroken if they weren't here…they mean so much to me and I don't wish to leave without properly saying farewell to them." Sarah said as she looked to the carriage.

"Sarah, it's not really a farewell." Zidane said as Sarah looked over. "What do you mean papa?" she asked.

Zidane took a few steps towards his daughter as she turned towards him; Zoe followed along sitting beside the father and daughter. Zidane placed his right hand on her shoulder as he looked deep into Sarah's blue eyes.

"You only say farewell or good bye to someone you will never see again." He said as she blinked a few times.

"What…do you mean papa?"

He smiled.

"If I ever say good bye to your mom, she'd know I'm lying…because I can't ever leave her alone for even a hot minute…hells even when I go on tours I get anxious just waiting to be with her again."

Sarah looked past Zidane's shoulder and noticed her mother smiling and nodding. She looked back at her father.

"Even she knows it, I can't ever be away for that long, you can even ask your Uncle Blank how often I talk about her on the Prima Vista, he gets so annoyed that he tries to get me drunk enough to forget about her. We know that never works." He winked.

"Papa!" Sarah playfully slapped Zidane's shoulder as they both laughed together.

"Y'know it's the truth."

"I know but it's silly!"

"Aren't I always?" Zidane winked again.

"Oh papa." Sarah embraced her father, she wrapped his arms around his daughter inside her cloak.

"Sarah, this isn't goodbye. Think of it as…see you later." He said as she nudged her head into his blonde hair.

"Hmm, I'll miss you papa." She said as she tighten her grip, she didn't want to let go of her father. It wasn't the same feeling as him leaving for a few days or weeks when he was performing, or be her mother's escort on her dignitary travels. This was the first time she was leaving her parents for a long time, she decided herself she would take as much time as she needed to learn about her heritage and her newfound powers. Even if it meant being gone for a year, if it took that long to helm her powers and learn about her family history then that is the route she will helm.

"I'll miss you too Sarah." Zidane said, he gently pulled his head back and peck his daughter's forehead as she smiled. The two separately from one another, she looked over to her mother and made her way towards her with her fellow four legged pet following along. She stood before the Queen and the two embraced one another.

"Mother…I will miss you dearly." Sarah said.

"And I'll miss you as well, I know in my heart you will spare no less for all the valuable knowledge you seek." Garnet said as the two pulled away.

"I won't, I want to help our people who may be lost out there to know, there is a beacon of hope for our survival. To not be afraid to reveal themselves like you have." Sarah said.

Garnet smiled.

"I always knew someday you would be like your father."

"Nay mother, I take after you and papa. You're both the reason why I am the way I am today, you've both raised me well…and I won't ever forget it."

Garnet placed a hand on her daughter's warm cheek, she sighed happily.

"And we would never forget you either Sarah. Someday you will be remembered for being the beacon of hope many seek in this world. You'll be an inspiration for all who wish to seek the truth in their lives." Garnet said.

Sarah smiled.

"I hope so mother."

Garnet lowered her hand.

"Sorry for being so tardy!" A voice called out from the distance as everyone looked towards Melody and Allison rushing to the area. Sarah smiled with much delight.

"Melody! Allison!" The princess called out as the maids stopped before the group catching their breath while curtseying.

"Much apologies Your Highness, we had to make sure our guest arrived comfortably, we certainly did not wish to miss this send off." Allison said still breathing hard.

"Your Majesty, I've already informed your guest you will be seeing her shortly, I do apologize for having to make ask to make this quick; we don't want them to feel they are being delayed unfavorably." Melody said.

"Hmm, thank you Melody and Allison, I fully understand." The Queen responded as Sarah looked to her.

"Mother, I'm sorry if I timed this poorly on my part." Sarah said.

Garnet shook her head.

"Absolutely not, they made this journey last minute so they will wait on our terms, not theirs." Garnet said as the maids agreed.

"I do agree, this certainly did skew off our schedule for today, we were hoping to at least have more time to let to at least take the opportunity to spend with you Your Highness." Melody said as Sarah looked towards her.

"Hmm." Sarah walked towards Melody and Allison. "I hope it won't be much burden after this."

Melody shook her head.

"Your Highness, we are here for you and no matter what hinders our way, we wouldn't want to miss this moment for anything." Melody smiled.

"Certainly this guest can wait a little longer, besides I'm sure they'll enjoy the lonely wait in the dining hall." Allison teased as Sarah snickered at the thought.

"Allison! Such a welcome, is this particular guest anyone I know?"

"No one you need not worry about." Melody said as she swiftly shifted her eyes towards the Queen then back at Sarah. Garnet felt a small tension from the eye contact with Melody. "Besides, you've more important matters to attend to." Melody smiled. Sarah nodded.

"Hmm! You're always so conscious about everyone Melody…I'm…I'm going to miss having you're around when I wake up every morning." Sarah said.

"I'm most certain Lady Eiko would be happy to supply a good conscious while you're in Madain Sari." Melody said as she and Sarah looked over to Eiko grinning.

"YUP! All the poor life choices she can ever have outside the palace!" Eiko teased as Steiner let out a gasp.

"BUT IT'S HER HIGHNESS' FIRST TIME ON HER OWN!" He yelled as everyone let out a laugh.

"She wasn't serious, chill man." Zidane said as Steiner lowered her head.

"Uncle Steiner, I already made a poor life choice today, I couldn't possibly make any more." Sarah teased along.

"Goodness, don't give Lord Steiner a heart attack now Your Highness." Allison joked along,

"UGH!" Why!?" Steiner followed up as Rose patted the back of her father's back.

"Father, they don't really mean all of it." She assured.

Steiner shook his head and stood straight back up looking at his daughter.

"At least I know you're the only one who won't joke around me." He said. Rose smiled. "We're only trying to lighten the mood, after all it is…Sarah's big life choice…" Rose said.

Steiner looked to the smiling princess, then towards the Queen. It brought him back the memory of the night he, Garnet, and Zidane left the palace, despite being attacked upon by the former monarch who attacked the group back then knowing full well they were aboard the Prima Vista that night. This moment felt different, no one was after the Princess, nobody wanted to cause harm to her, her life choice today was more self-reflection than saving a mourning mother. He looked towards Sarah and let out a smile.

"Your Highness, if I may."

Sarah walked before the Knight, he saluted her as she stood before him then lowered his hand.

"You'll do yourself a great service for this excursion, I…I know full well that like your mother before you, you'll surely find the answers you are looking for. Lady Eiko will give you all the knowledge you need to be successful on this journey, do please take her words to heart. She served your mother well during our travels as she will with you."

Sarah smiled.

"Uncle Steiner, thank you so much, it means a lot to hear that from you."

Steiner blinked a few times.

"I do mean it…I know you've always looked out for me when I was growing up and I always appreciated your kind words of wisdom from keeping myself from doing something reckless. I promise not to endanger myself while in the Outer Continent."

Steiner let out a sincere sigh and smiled.

"I expect no less from the daughter of my…dear closest friends." He said happily as Zidane and Garnet smiled happily at the words of the knight.

Sarah walked up towards Steiner, they both embraced one another.

"I'll miss you Uncle." She said.

"I will miss your wits and laughter." He said.

They pulled away from one another, she walked before Beatrix as she observed her.

"Auntie, I'll miss you too, and thank you for letting Rose come along." Sarah said as Beatrix smiled.

"It was Rose's own decision, one I'm proud of and glad she and you will both venture together; I wish you nothing but the best and hope you find the answers you are seeking." Beatrix said.

"Hmm! Thank you so much, I promise to look after Rose also, we'll both keep each other well."

"Hmm I've not doubt she will be in good hands with you and Eiko; the three of you will do will together."

Sarah nodded, she and Beatrix shared an embrace with each other.

"Do be mindful of your surroundings Your Highness, trust in each other and the three of will you flourish well."

Sarah nodded.

"I will Auntie!"

The two pulled away and Sarah smiled as she walked towards Mei and Nadine.

"Oh Your Highness, please you don't need to waste any more time with us." Nadine politely said as Sarah stopped before the two.

"Nadine! I would never! I always make time for everybody around here and you know it." Sarah said as held her hands together.

"We'll certainly miss our mornings together, it's going to feel rather strange tomorrow knowing you won't be here for a while." Mei said as stepped forward embracing the princess.

"I won't forget those moments Mei. Please look out for my mother; I know she'll need you guys when I'm not around." Sarah said as she and Mei pulled away from one another.

"Your Majesty will always be in good hands regardless; please be careful out there, I know the three of you will have much to deal with while in Madain Sari."

"Hmm! Thank you Mei! I'm very grateful to have met you and happier you stayed with us"

"Aw Your Highness! Such kind words as always, I'll certainly miss our morning chats. Please take care of yourself." Mei smiled.

"I will! I hope you won't miss us for too long now."

"I'll do my best." Mei nodded.

Sarah smiled and walked before Nadine as she could see Nadine trying her hardest not to shed a tear.

"Nadine…are…are you?"

Nadine gently brushed her eyes under hear glasses.

"I'm quite alright…it's just…" Nadine looked deep into Sarah's blue eyes, it reminded her of the very first time she saw them as an infant. Gentle and sincere since birth, to watch someone from infancy to young adult was a first for Nadine, she never knew what it was like to help raise a child in her lifetime, only in training, but to take on the responsibility it made her feel accomplished to play the role.

"I never would've thought I'd ever see this day come…I feel as if…we've been through so much together."

Sarah smiled.

"We did, we did it together and we learned so much about each other…"

"We certainly have…and...you and Mei are like the younger sisters I've never had. I'm grateful to have the honor of serving under you in thanks to your parents."

Sarah and Mei gasped in delight by the maid's words.

"And…sisters always have to stick together right?" Mei asked.

Nadine looked towards Mei then back to Sarah.

"Sisters always stick together no matter what." Nadine said proudly, Sarah let out a soft giggle and embraced Nadine.

"I'll miss you dearly Nadine. You've always been by my side and I'm so glad to share this moment with you."

"I'll miss you dearly as well…it's been an honor to serve you."

Sarah pulled her head back.

"Don't say that…you know I'll come home, I'm only taking the time I need to learn about myself."

Nadine nodded.

"Hmm; I know how much this means to you, take every moment you have. You'll do yourself proud and will grasp your identity even more. I know in my heart that you will be well versed with this great knowledge."

Sarah smiled.

"I promise I'll write to you and everyone."

"I look forward to reading your letters."

"Hmm! Please take care of yourself and everyone for me."

Nadine smiled.

"I will do my best and please be careful out there."

"I will Nadine…I promise."

The two pulled away and Sarah walked towards Melody and Allison, she stopped before them.

"Your Highness, as much as I'd love to speak much about this moment together, I do implore we make this short since we don't wish to have your mother run a bit late with her guest." Melody said as Sarah smiled.

"Oh Melody, still always being so modest and professional as always." Sarah said as Allison let out a small chuckle.

"On the contrary Your Highness, you know we always have your family's best interest." Allison added as Melody nodded.

"Though I will say this to you however…"

Sarah tilted her head slightly.

"I may have been around before your birth while serving by your mother's side, your birth goes without say, it was the most pleasant experience to have been an apart of in all my years here. To see your mother and father go through the many experiences of becoming parents while at the same time maintain their duties, you've helped bold their strengths with one another. I had always felt that your birth would help shape the people they are today and someday they would give you the guidance you needed to bring the foundations you have presently. You are without a doubt the Princess Alexandria needed to relate to who truly has demonstrated the aspirations to take heed of their life, to take the responsibility one needs in order to better understand who are in this world. I feel truly honored to have been given this opportunity to see this day come. I've seen you grown so fast and full of knowledge, I'm more than happy to see you take on this great responsibility. Be proud of where you are Your Highness, your presence here will no doubt be surely missed and I know that it will not be the same to hear your voice for the unknown time ahead. It truly has been an honor to serve your also, Your Highness."

Sarah smiled nearly tearing up to the maid's words.

"Melody…that was so nice of you to say all of that. I'm…I'm so glad to have heard all of that."

Melody smiled.

"I mean every word Your Highness, I'm truly happy for your wish to undertake this venture. Be proud of yourself for taking this encouraging act. The same way your mother did when she fled the palace."

Sarah nodded.

"I am and I will miss you dearly." Sarah smiled.

"It will be a grand day when you return Your Highness, I promise you that."

Sarah nodded and embraced the maid.

"Do take good care of yourself and Lady Rose too." She added.

"I shall!" The Princess replied.

The two pulled away from each other and Sarah embraced Allison next.

"Your Highness, I shall do my best to make sure your father won't do something drastic while you're away." Allison teased. Sarah softly chuckled as the two pulled away.

"Oh Allison! You know how papa is, he can never stop thinking about me and mother." Sarah teased back.

"I HEARD THAT!" Zidane called out as the two laughed.

"It's not my first or my last round up Your Highness, after all you recall what I had to put up with right?" Allison winked.

"Of course; I remember your stories." Sarah winked back.

"YOU WHAT!?" Zidane overheard again.

"Do take care of yourself Your Highness and please, we'll be here for you when you return."

"Hehe thank you Allison!" Sarah said as she quickly rushed to her parents as Zidane was even more dumbfounded from what his daughter and maid said.

"What stories?" He asked.

Sarah shook her head.

"Papa it's rude to as a lady about what she speaks about in private." Sarah teased.

Zidane shook his head and looked over at Allison playfully smiling as Sarah gently tugged her father's cheeks making him look directly at her.

"I'm over here papa." Sarah teased.

"UHM! But…but!"

Sarah embraced her father, still confused by the moment.

"Papa I'm gonna miss you!" she tightened her grip around Zidane as he gave up on trying to ask about the conversation.

"I'm gonna miss ya too Sarah…it's…not gonna be the same without seeing ya every day."

"Me too…I hope you and mother will be alright without me around."

They pulled their heads back.

"I know how to keep your mother preoccupied." Zidane winked as Garnet instinctively slapped his back.

"AHEM!" Garnet cleared her throat.

"Papa's in trouble again." Sarah teased.

"Damn good at it too!" Zidane grinned. "But truth be told you'll always be the best thing to ever happen to me in this life. You and your mother changed my world." He smiled.

"And you both changed mine as well…I love you papa and I won't ever forget you and mother." Sarah kissed her father's cheek as he returned a peck on her cheek.

"And I love you too my little angel." He said as the two released their embrace. She walked to her mother as Garnet smiled happily.

"Mother…" Sarah said.

"Sarah…"

The two gracefully embraced one another; Zoe looked up to the two and started wagging her tail happily.

"I've always wondered when this day would come where you would set off in to the world." The Queen said as they both pulled away from each other.

"I'm truly happy to have you as my mother. I'm forever grateful for this day, I will dearly miss you the most mother."

Garnet smiled.

"And I will miss you dearly as well; please Sarah…take good care of yourself, and Rose, and Eiko, and of course." The two looked down to their happy pet letting her tongue out. "Our new little one as well."

"Hehe, thank you for letting me take Zoe too."

"Of course, after all you and papa did find her together, it's only fair to bring her along for guardianship as well. She can certainly sense danger when all three of you need it."

"Hmm! I'm glad you've looked out for me mother, even while growing up, I never thought any less of you. I know you had good intentions then and still do now."

Garnet slid her hands to her daughter's gloved arms, the leather gloves felt too familiar to her. The feeling of it brought back memories of her ventures. Her daughter now setting off to the world was something she need deep down inside was bound to happen.

"I thank you for truly believing in me Sarah…"

Garnet's hands gently gripped her daughter's hands, trying to feel for her daughter's soft skin underneath the leather. Sarah herself could somehow feel her mother's fingers, she looked down to their hands holding. In her mind she can feel hand off from her mother's life to her own, becoming her own person the same way her mother did. Sarah had wondered what will she become in her future, she always remembered her mother always reminding her to always be herself.

"And I thank you for believing in me and giving me the courage to stand tall for myself…mother." Sarah smiled.

Garnet sighed happily; she slowly let go of her daughter's hands, knowing that she was longer holding her hand anymore in life. Sarah is now on her own to make decisions for herself even more.

"Thank you mother."

Garnet nodded.

"Your welcome Sarah, please take good care of yourself."

Sarah smiled confidently.

"I will not let our people down."

"Hmm." Garnet nodded, she looked towards Zidane giving him a nod. He reached from behind pulling out a small envelope from his back pocket handing it to Garnet. Zidane handed it to her as Sarah and Garnet looked at it; the Queen then slowly hovered the envelope towards her daughter.

"Mother…wha...what's this?" Sarah asked.

"Long ago when you were young, I'm sure you remember the night well when I was writing a letter to someone, someone very important to me."

Sarah realized it, she immediately recalled the night after the traditional dinner with friends when Garnet was writing a letter addressed to someone, she now knew she was that someone.

"You mean…you were writing that letter…to…me?" Sarah looked at her mother's eyes.

Garnet nodded.

"When the time is right, I know you'll open it and I mean every word I wrote here." Garnet smiled.

Sarah looked to the letter, she saw her name on the envelope in her mother's hand writing. She was always in awe by her mother's handwriting; clean and vibrant, compared to her father's messy hand writing. She tenderly picked up the envelope, keeping her eyes on it. Despite its light feeling in her hand, it felt heavy to her; she looked at her mother and smiled.

"I will cherish this letter mother, especially after I read it." Sarah smiled.

Garnet smiled and nodded.

"Are we ready to go?" Eiko called out as Sarah looked over.

"Hmm, yes…let us make our way."

Sarah looked back to her parents; she quickly placed the envelope inside a small pocked in her robe and embraced her parents, while Beatrix, Rose, and Steiner did the same thing with each other as well.

"We'll be careful mother and father." Rose said as the group pulled apart from each other.

"Hmm do be sure to write to us when you arrive in Madain Sari." Beatrix said.

"I shall." Rose said.

"Take care dear Rose. We'll miss you." Steiner said.

"I will father…I won't let you both down." Rose smiled.

The parents smiled and nodded, Rose quickly rushed over to the maids. "Oh Lady Rose, we wish you a safe travels as well." Mei noticed as the young lady stopped before them.

"I'm terribly sorry for making this so quick but…thank you…all of you for everything."

"Very kind words Lady Rose, we surely wish you all the best with your ventures with Her Highness, the two of you are going to do great wonders together on your venture." Nadine smiled.

"Hmm! Thank you Nadine…and I'm grateful for allowing me much of our time together when we were growing up."

Nadine nodded.

"The two of you are close friends, I simply would never keep you both apart. You were wonderful to have around Lady Rose, watching you and Her Highness play together while you were young was the most memorably memories I've ever had to the honor to share with the two of you."

Rose smiled.

"Nadine…I'm so glad to hear, it…it really means a lot to hear that…I'm very glad to have shared many memories with her and you."

Nadine fixed her glasses and smiled.

"You're most welcome Lady Rose. Please do take care of yourself as well." Nadine said.

"And may your adventures bring you the experience you seek to help better yourself too Lady Rose." Mei added.

Rose looked towards Mei.

"Thank you Mei, I'm very thankful for all your wonderful advices you've said when…I was giving thoughts of this journey." Rose said.

Mei softly chuckled happily.

"Lady Rose the pleasure is all mine, please by all means please feel free to write a letter if you ever feel the need for any more advice." Mei smiled.

"Hmm…I shall and I look forward to seeing you both again soon." Rose smiled.

"We look forward to your return." Mei said happily as Nadine nodded.

"We will be here for you as well upon your return. Nadine smiled.

Rose nodded.

"Thank you both so much for everything."

The maids bowed to the young woman as she turned her attention to Melody and Allison.

"Lady Rose, we hope we did our best to help take care of you as well during your visits." Melody said as Allison nodded.

"Please Lady Rose we whole heartily wish you the best in your travels, we understand how much this means to you as well. You've certainly made a grand name for yourself here and it does not go unnoticed." Allison assured the caught Rose off guard.

"Oh…thank you…thank you very much; I'm very grateful by your words Melody and Allison." Rose said.

"It's the least we can do for you, watching you grow up with Her Highness has always been a wonderful experience for us; your mother and father have certainly raised you well and we're all proud of you for helming this responsibility as well. You've truly made a huge impact to the palace and we'll certainly miss your gardening skills around here." Melody smiled.

"Oh dear goodness…I hope…I hope I won't overwhelm everyone with all that I've done here…"

The maids shook their heads.

"We're honestly excited to look out for your gardens around here, you've truly enhanced the palace's plant life here; something it lacked for quite some time now. We're grateful someone of your knowledge was able to add more floral colors here." Allison said as it made Rose feel warm inside.

"I'm…I'm glad it made a difference."

Melody nodded.

"You've truly a wonderful gift Rose, please don't let yourself feel any less; you've the gift of marvels to offer the world. Please don't lose the confidence you built for yourself, it's truly well earned." Melody said.

Rose smiled.

"Melody, thank you so kindly and thank you everyone, it means a lot to hear all this; I truly mean it." Rose said as she bowed to the maids as they followed same suite.

"Please do be careful out there." Nadine said as Rose nodded. "I shall! We shall return!" Rose quickly rushed over towards Zidane and Garnet as Sarah looked over excited.

"Ready!?" Sarah asked. Rose looked at Sarah and nodded.

"Rose." Garnet said as Rose looked towards the Queen.

"I'm certain that…asking for you to look out for my daughter is not something you would want to hear; however I'm more incline to say please do take advantage of this opportunity for you garnish the skills you are seeking to give you the strength to become a stronger person that your heart seeks. You are worthy of being someone in this world Rose myself and Zidane both support your efforts in this venture, you and Sarah will be the strongest people on helm this responsibility and will be under great guidance from Eiko. Take every advantage of this time and I know you will be successful too." Garnet smiled proudly as Rose smiled.

"Your Majesty…thank you…thank you for all of your kind words, I…I promise that I will look out for Sarah and I will do my best to protect her as the friend she asks of me too." Rose said.

"You two look out for one another, that's what'll make you two stronger together. It's always better to work together to outsmart the elements you'll be encountering out there. You both got this!" Zidane spoke confidently as Sarah and Rose smiled.

"We will papa!" Sarah smiled.

"We shall do our best Lord Zidane." Rose smiled.

"We trust you both." Garnet said as Sarah and Rose nodded.

"We won't let you down mother." Sarah responded.

"We will do our best." Rose added.

"See you both again soon." Zidane said as Sarah felt the words hit her hard in the heart.

"We...we will papa." She said as she once more embraced her parents together.

"We'll miss you." Garnet said as Sarah felt her mother's words hurt harder.

"I will miss you both too." The princess responded as the three pulled away.

"Take care of yourselves." Zidane said as Sarah and Rose nodded.

"We well." Sarah said.

The parents nodded, Sarah looked down towards Zoe. "Come on Zoe, we're leaving now." Sarah tapped right hip as the dog stood up wagging her tail. Sarah looked towards her parents smiling, she smiled back at them then slowly made her way towards the carriage with Rose and Zoe following along.

"We'll let you know when we get to Madain Sari safely!" Eiko waved as everyone waved back. The summoner followed behind grabbing a small handful of yellow floral arrangement before the carriage as Rose and Sarah took their seat, Zoe sat herself beside Sarah looking up towards Eiko as she stopped inside the middle of the seats of the carriage.

"Are you both ready?" Eiko asked as she laid the floral arrangements in her hands.

Sarah looked once more towards everyone watching them, looking at everyone one by one, and taking one deep breath. This was her last chance to change her mind; it was either stay here in Alexandria to never know who she is or the mysteries of her dreams or take the leap of faith into the unknown world to find out who she is and who her family is.

Rose looked to her friend, then out towards the crowd, she too gave one last thought before Eiko would feed the gargan above them. She knew it would be quite some time before returning back to Alexandria. Yet she knew this was her chance to make herself become stronger as a person, to not be dependent on others and not let herself follow a path she didn't wish to follow.

"….I'm ready…" Rose spoke first as Eiko smiled. "Sarah?" Eiko looked towards the princess as she looked up to her.

"I…" Sarah looked back to the crowd as they all smiled and awaited their depature.

"…"

"There's no shame in changing your mind cousin." Eiko assured.

The princess' fists clenched tightly, she took one deep breath.

"Let us….be off now…" she finally spoke.

Eiko nodded, she raised her hands allowing the floral in the Gargan's sight as it took a quick bite of the floral arrangement, it howled loudly and the carriage nearly shook the carriage, catching Rose slightly off guard as she almost fell over in her seat.

The loud ticking sounds of the gargan's claws started moving while grasping the vines, the whole group on the platform started waving together as Sarah, Rose and Eiko watched. Sarah gingerly waved back, Rose and Eiko followed along as they continued waving at one another. The gargan was slowly picking up speed into the dark tunnel, the entire group of people continued waving and watching the gargan carrying the carriage until it was no longer in sight.

"There's no turning back now….

This was it…I realized I was waving at nothing the moment I couldn't see the station in sight anymore….

My parents

My family

They're now behind us now.

Rose, Eiko, and Zoe are the only people now in this trip now, no guards, no protection, no other known people to surround myself with now. This was now the path I walk now, only a few know of this journey, they know my plan, they know my reason, and now I must walk it to find out the truth about myself.

To learn about the mysterious dream.

To learn about my powers.

And learn the responsibility it means to have them. Such great power requires great responsibility.

I will not allow myself to become a tool for destruction as my parents once were.

I will not let anyone stop me from learning the truth of who I am.

I will not allow any outside influence tell me I am wrong for doing this.

And most of all…

I will not let everyone down, this is my life and I must do whatever it takes to know my place here on Gaia. I will do whatever it takes to show our people that we are still alive and we can live among those around us without any fear of retaliation.

Mother

Father

Summoners before me

Hear my voice

I will understand the truth of our people and I will do what I can to be the beacon of hope for those who may still be out there waiting for this sign."
