"I feel like we've been looking for these fuckers forever," Saber mused as she rounded a corner, Kiba at her side. "I mean, how stealthy can those zealots be?"
"Pretty stealthy, apparently. They weren't at their rumored headquarters, so that must mean they're elsewhere. The only question is where?"
The blonde haired knight jerked her head toward the left. "I 'unno, maybe they're where that ominous chanting is coming from?"
Kiba paused and allowed the chanting to reach his ears before he frowned. "How in the world did we miss that? They aren't exactly being subtle."
Saber shrugged. "Could be the fact that Issei is screaming Freed's name every five seconds."
And as if on cue - "FREED!"
Kiba deflated. "Yeah, that'd do it."
"Shut up."
Whack!
"Oh no!" Asia's voice rang out. "Koneko-chan killed Issei-kun!"
"Stay with me, Issei-kun!"
Smack!
Saber decided to ignore the clown show going on behind her. It was like being back in Camelot. Twas such a silly place.
Eventually they reached the source of the chanting and what a fucking shitshow it was. Loony bastards in cloaks, glowing fragments of excalibur, two crazy priests and a partridge in a pear tree.
"So!" Freed exclaimed while posing in a fashion that could only be described as grandiose with a side of stupendously stupid. "You filthy devils have finally arrived! And what's this? Some exorcists are here as well! So fuckin' delightful! I can't wait to cut you to pieces!"
Xenovia groaned. "I cannot believe he used to be one of us."
"I was never one of you!" Freed retorted. "I am a free soul! Slicey dicey dice~!"
Issei, having finally recovered, stood up tall. "Freed! You're going to pay- are you horny?"
Indeed, Freed was a bit too ecstatic at the thought of fighting everyone. "With my fragment of Excalibur, aptly named Rapidly because I love to slice and dice quite quickly, I will be sure to enjoy my time with you all!"
Issei activated his Boosted Gear and growled. "You'll pay for what you did to Asia!"
Freed didn't give Issei any more time to prepare and charged him, signaling the beginning of the fight.
Saber gripped Clarnet's hilt with both hands and focused on the priests in front of her. She knew that Kiba was going to charge after Valper, so she'd focus on the rabble for now. And then, when she got the chance, she'd turn those Excalibur rejects into scrap metal.
The battle was fierce, but it was quickly apparent that the Devils had the upper hand. Perhaps it would have gone differently had it been the Rias Peerage alone, but with the Sona Peerage thrown into the mix, it was a different story.
That didn't mean it was easy. Mostly because Freed himself was, ironically, a devil of a man to face. He was ferocious, unrelenting and even Issei's Boosted Gear didn't seem to slow him down much. He was capable of facing Kiba, Xenovia and Irina at the same time, especially after he merged several fragments of Excalibur into one.
He swung the fused Excalibur in a ferocious arc, sending all three sword users flying.
"Is that all?!" he cackled as he kicked Issei away. "You're all so boring! At least make it fun!"
Saber grimaced. She could channel a bit more of her power, but she couldn't trust Freed not to take a cheap shot at one of her comrades while she was facing him. This wasn't good! She wasn't a damn strategic genius like her father!
And then a yawn within her mind shook her from her frantic thoughts.
The hell I miss?
To say Saber almost cried tears of relief when she heard her Master's voice would be an understatement.
A lot! I'll share my memories with you.
One memory viewing memory later and Kyousuke was up to speed.
I see. So, Freed is an unstoppable douchenozzle and you're unsure of how to proceed.
Yeah. Any suggestions?
Have you tried hitting him really hard?
You've been around Kintoki too long.
Won't deny that.
Kyousuke rubbed his chin, except he wasn't in control of his body at the moment, so it was more like he imagined himself doing it.
I have an idea, Mordred. It's stupid and it might not work. But . . . have you ever fought with a shield and sword combo before?
