Lincoln's First Pokemon and Battle
A month has gone by since Lincoln arrived in the Galar Region. He's spent the whole month doing chores at the Wedgehurst Pokemon Research Lab. He also did a few odd jobs around town to earn some money so he can buy some new clothes at the clothing store in town. He also got himself a phone so he could at least call Professor Magnolia and Sonia if he ever needed to. He tried calling his family when he first got it, but the signal couldn't reach Royal Woods, much to his disappointment. Whenever he had some extra time on his hands, he spent it learning all he could about Pokemon, with his interest in them growing each and every day. He developed an interest in Pokemon Battles when he saw his first one on TV. It was an exhibition match between Leon; the current Galar League Champion, and a trainer named Raihan. Ever since that day, his desire to learn all about Pokemon greatly increased because he now wanted to become a Pokmeon Trainer. After his first week since arriving in the Galar Region, he made his first friend there, a boy named Hop. Hop was around the same age as Lincoln; he had purple hair, and dark skin. He wears a blue, fur-rimmed jacket, black shirt and pants, and black, white, and purple sneakers. What really got Lincoln's interest was that Hop is Leon's younger brother. Hop found it equally unbelievable that Lincoln has ten sisters. The two of them would spend every moment they possibly could watching Leon's past battles and learn everything they could about battling from them. When Lincoln was done working at the research lab, he and Sonia would return to Professor Magnolia's house and have dinner. They let Lincoln use the small room he first woke up in as a temporary bedroom, until they can find a way to return him to Royal Woods. Two more weeks went by before Hop gave Lincoln the news that Leon would be coming to Wedgehurst to visit him and his mother. On the day that Leon was to arrive in Wedgehurst, Lincoln was busy in the research lab, dusting off bookshelves, when Hop came running in through the front door.
"Lincoln!" Hop yells out.
"Hop. What's wrong?" asked Lincoln.
"Hurry. My brother just arrived at Wedgehurst Station." said Hop.
"Okay. Let me dust off these shelves real quick and I'll be right there." said Lincoln.
"Don't be late. You don't want to miss out on meeting the undefeated champion." said Hop as he runs back out the door. Two minutes later, Lincoln finishes dusting the last of the bookshelves off.
"Sonia, I'm done dusting the shelves." says Lincoln.
"Okay. I don't have anything else for you to do right now, so you can do what you want." said Sonia. Lincoln quickly put his cleaning supplies in the storage closet and ran out the door to go to Wedgehurst Station. When he got there, he saw a large crowd in front of the station.
"Lincoln! Over here!" says Hop as he waved to Lincoln from inside the crowd. Lincoln makes his way through the crowd to where Hop was. "About time you got here. This is a big crowd. But then again, it's not surprising that a lot of people would come to see my big brother, the undefeated champion. They look towards the front of the crowd to see a man with purple hair and dark skin like Hop, wearing a black shirt with thin white stripes and an emblem depicting a blue sword over a red shield, a baseball cap with the brim tilted up showing a crown design under it, a white pair of shorts with the number one on them, white tights with a black and gold diamond design going down the sides of them, black and white sneakers, and a red, fur-rimmed cape with all sorts of sponsor logos on it. He was standing next to a Pokemon that looked like an orange, winged dragon with a flame at the end of its tail.
"Hello, Wedgehurst. Your undefeated champion, Leon, has returned." said Leon as he does his trademark pose which was raising his left arm high with his thumb, index finger, and middle finger extended. Some people in the crowd do the pose as well as a sign of admiration for Leon.
"Wow, Leon. You're so amazing!" said a girl in the crowd.
"And your Charizard is so powerful." said a boy.
"Why thank you. But any Pokemon can become as powerful as my Charizard. Just like any trainer can be us strong as I am. It just takes a lot of hard work and effort, as well as developing a strong bond with your Pokemon." says Leon.
"We will, Leon. We'll keep training hard until we get as good as you." said a boy.
"I'll be waiting. And when that day comes, I hope you participate in the Gym Challenge and battle your way to the Galar League Champion Cup to challenge me." says Leon. Just then, Leon hears a familiar voice in the crowd.
"Hey! Leon! Over here!" Hop yells as he jumps up and down, waving his arms to get Leon's attention. Leon sees Hop and makes his way through the crowd to where Hop is.
"Hey, Hop. It's been a while since I last seen you. You look like you grew a bit. It looks like you grew one and one-quarter of an inch last time I saw you." says Leon.
"Exactly. It's that keen eye of yours that's helped you to stay undefeated for so long." says Hop. Lincoln steps forward and stands next to Hop. "Hey, Leon. Allow me to introduce you to my new friend, Lincoln." says Hop, waving his arm towards Lincoln. Leon sees Lincoln and walks over to him.
"It's nice to meet you, Lincoln. Hop's told me a lot about you." said Leon.
"It's an honor to meet you, sir." says Lincoln.
"Please, you can just call me Leon." says Leon.
"Okay, then." says Lincoln.
"Hey, bro. I'll race you home. Lincoln, you can come and hang out with us if you want to." says Hop as he quickly runs off. Leon smiles and shakes his head.
"That little brother of mine. He really needs to calm down and take things slow. You move too quickly, and a rare opportunity can just pass you by. Well, let's get going." said Leon as he, Lincoln, and Leon's Charizard head off towards Postwick, where Hop's family lives. Two minutes later, Leon, Lincoln, and Hop were standing on a small arena that was just outside Hop's house.
"So, bro. You told me that you were bringing a surprise for us. What is it? I'll bet it's Pokemon for me and Lincoln. Right?" says Hop.
"Right you are, Hop." says Leon as he pulls out three pokeballs from his cape and throws them, releasing the Pokemon stored inside them. One was a small, white, rabbitlike Pokemon, one was a blue reptilian Pokemon, and the third was a green, monkeylike Pokemon, holding a stick. "Allow me to introduce you to these three. That one is Scorbunny, a fire-type Pokemon." says Leon, pointing to the rabbit Pokemon. "That one is a Sobble, a water-type Pokemon" says Leon, pointing to the reptilian Pokemon. "And that one is Grookey, a grass-type Pokemon." says Leon, pointing to the monkey Pokemon.
"So cool." says Hop.
"Yeah." says Lincoln.
"Okay, then. Which Pokemon would you two like?" asked Leon. Hop looks at Lincoln and tilts his head towards the Pokemon.
"You can pick first, Lincoln. I already have my Wooloo." says Hop. Lincoln steps forward and looks at the Pokemon. His eyes became focused on Scorbunny. As Lincoln stares at Scorbunny, he can't help but be reminded of his stuffed rabbit, Bun-Bun, back in his room in Royal Woods. Lincoln also felt a strong bond with Scorbunny and that's what helped him make his decision.
"I made my decision. I'm going with Scorbunny." said Lincoln. Scorbunny smiles and jumps with joy before giving Lincoln a fist-bump, making Lincoln chuckle with delight.
"An excellent choice, Lincoln. I can already tell that you and Scorbunny will become great friends." said Leon.
"Okay. Now it's my turn." said Hop. He steps forwards and looks at the remaining two Pokemon. "I'll go with Grookey." Grookey hops forward and jumps into Hop's arms.
"Very good." said Leon. Leon walks over to Sobble and kneels down to it. "I guess you're with me. I will train you to be the best you can be. Charizard will be there to help with your training. He's tough, but he won't be too hard on you." Leon says to Sobble. Leon returns Sobble to his pokeball. He also gives Lincoln and Hop their Pokemon's pokeballs "Raise those two well and I'm certain both of you will become strong trainers. Who knows? You both could become skilled enough to challenge me, the undefeated champion."
"You bet. I'll be the one to end your undefeated streak, big bro." said Hop. He quickly turns towards Lincoln. "Lincoln. Let's have a battle right now. I want to get some experience with my new Grookey."
"Okay. I want to get some experience, too. After all, if I'm going to be a trainer, I need to get some experience with battles. I never actually been in one before." said Lincoln. They both stand at opposite ends of the small battle arena, ready to start their battle.
"Okay, Lincoln. This is your first time commanding a Pokemon in battle, so I'll go a little easy on you, but don't think I'll make it too easy." said Hop.
"Before we start, I need to know what Scorbunny's moves are." said Lincoln.
"I can tell you that, Lincoln. Scorbunny knows Tackle, and Growl." said Leon.
"Thank you. Okay, Hop; let's do this." said Lincoln. Scorbunny hops in front of Lincoln and smiles in anticipation.
"Now you're talking." said Hop as he pulls out a pokeball. "I'll start with this one." Hop throws the pokeball, releasing a sheeplike Pokemon. "This is my Wooloo, Lincoln. Let's see you handle him."
"Okay. Scorbunny, start out with Growl." says Lincoln. Scorbunny bares his teeth and growls at Wooloo, making him nervous and lowering its attack power.
"Going with a stat-reducing move from the start? Good thinking." said Hop. "Wooloo, use Tackle." Wooloo runs at Scorbunny and rams into him.
"Scorbunny." says Scorbunny.
"You okay, Scorbunny?" asked Lincoln with concern. Scorbunny looks back at Lincoln and smiles, showing he's just fine. The Growl attack he used on Wooloo weakened his attack power enough to make the Tackle not as effective as it normally would've been otherwise. "Okay, then. Now you use Tackle." Scorbunny runs forward and rams into Wooloo.
"Wooloo. Use Tackle again." said Hop. Wooloo runs at Scorbunny and tries to tackle him, but Lincoln was ready.
"Scorbunny. Jump up to avoid that Tackle." said Lincoln. As Wooloo got close, Scorbunny hops up and clear over Wooloo. The sudden evasion confuses Wooloo as it tries to figure out where Scorbunny went. "Now, Scorbunny. Use Tackle one more time." Scorbunny runs at Wooloo.
"Wooloo, look out behind you!" said Hop. Wooloo tries turning around to see Scorbunny, but it wasn't fast enough and it got it's side tackled by Scorbunny. It was sent rolling across the arena and stopped at Lincoln's feet, passed out. Leon sees this and waves his hand towards Lincoln.
"Wooloo is unable to battle. Scorbunny is the winner." says Leon.
"Scorbunny, you did it!" says Lincoln. Scorbunny hops up and down, smiling. Hop returns Wooloo to its pokeball.
"You did your best, Wooloo. Take a good rest." said Hop. He puts the pokeball back in his jacket pocket and pulls out a different one. "Let's see you beat my newest Pokemon, Lincoln. Grookey, I choose you." He throws the pokeball, releasing his newest Pokemon.
"Grookey." says Grookey.
"Grookey, use Scratch." says Hop. Grookey runs at Scorbunny and claws at his face.
"Scorbunny." yells Scorbunny.
"Scorbunny, use Growl on Grookey." says Lincoln. Scorbunny growls at Grookey, lowering his attack power.
"Two can play that game. Grookey, you use Growl on Scorbunny." says Hop. Grookey growls at Scorbunny, lowering his attack power.
"Scorbunny. Hang in there." said Lincoln. Scorbunny suddenly inhales and breathes out small bits of fire at Grookey. Grookey jumps out of their path in fright.
"Lincoln, it looks like your Scorbunny learned Ember. It's a fire-type move." said Leon.
"Really? That's so cool." said Lincoln.
"We're not beaten yet. Grookey, use Scratch again." said Hop. Grookey runs at Scorbunny to use Scratch on him.
"Scorbunny. Dodge when Grookey gets close." said Lincoln. Scorbunny looks at Lincoln and nods. When Grookey swung his claws at Scorbunny, Scorbunny ducks under it. "Now, Scorbunny; use Ember." Scorbunny releases an Ember attack, and with Grookey being so close to him, he didn't have enough time to dodge it and he got hit, taking a lot of damage. Hop was surprised by this.
"Grookey, are you okay?" asked Hop. Grookey struggled to get up.
"Scorbunny, use Tackle." says Lincoln. Scorbunny runs at Grookey and tackles him, sending him sliding across the ground. When he stopped, Hop saw that Grookey was passed out.
"Grookey is unable to battle. Scorbunny wins. That means the winner of the battle is Lincoln." says Leon, pointing towards Lincoln. Lincoln smiles with joy.
"We did it, Scorbunny! We won our very first battle!" says Lincoln. Scorbunny jumps into Lincoln's arms and they hug. Hop returns Grookey to his pokeball.
"You did good for your first battle, Grookey. Take a good rest." says Hop. He then walks over to Lincoln and they both shake hands. "You did awesome, considering that was your very first Pokemon battle." said Hop.
"Thanks. I guess I learned a lot from watching Pokemon battles on TV. But that was so cool. I mean, watching them is fun; but actually being in one is way more awesome." says Lincoln. Leon walks over to them.
"That was an amazing match, you two. I was tempted to let out Charizard and join in. Here, let me heal your Pokemon for you." says Leon. He pulls out some Oran and Leppa berries from his pocket and uses them on Lincoln and Hop's Pokemon, restoring them to full health.
"Thank you, Leon." says Lincoln.
"Thanks, bro." says Hop.
"You're welcome." says Leon. "I want you two to train your Pokemon hard. And once you become strong enough, come challenge me." says Leon.
"Does that mean you want us to take the Gym Challenge?" asked Hop.
"Gym Challenge? What's that?" asked Lincoln.
"The Gym Challenge is when trainers travel across Galar and try to defeat all eight gym leaders in order to earn the right to enter the Galar League Tournament to earn the chance to battle me for the title of champion." says Leon.
"That sounds awesome!" says Lincoln.
"I know. So you will you give us endorsements?" asked Hop.
"Endorsements?" replied Lincoln.
"In order to enter the Gym Challenge, you must get an endorsement from a business, or my brother. So will you give us an endorsement, bro?" asked Hop.
"You're both still new as trainers. Are you sure you're both ready?" asked Leon.
"You bet we are." said Hop.
"Tell you what. Why don't you both get some more experience with your Pokemon for a while. Once you do, I'll consider it." said Leon. Leon then turns around and walks into their home. Hop turns towards Lincoln.
"We have to get stronger, Lincoln. I want to enter that Gym Challenge." said Hop.
"Then we should get started training. But first, I need to return to the research lab and let Sonia know about it." said Lincoln.
"Okay. You do that, I'm going to get started on training." said Hop.
"And I'll be right behind you." said Lincoln. Lincoln holds out a fist and they both fist-bump.
End of Chapter 3
Lincoln's Main Team: Scorbunny
Pokemon that Lincoln has: Scorbunny
Well by a vote of 7, Lincoln's starter is Scorbunny. We'll be having a few more polls up. We plan on having four of Lincoln's sisters join him (except Lily. Sorry, but she is a baby.) So there'll be a poll for which sisters you want to join him. There will also be a poll for if Clyde should join him. Also, should we translate what the Pokemon are saying. The choices are yours.
