Chapter 9: Thrills and Drills

Ducking under the punch that rang from the sound of metal moving quickly, Ryne moved to avoid Steel's fast and powerful strikes, which even when holding back, would still leave bruises. She didn't keep her focus entirely on him, however, as she moved around him, and surprised Nate by springing at him instead, focusing him to split his attention between Ravi and her.

Watching from the sidelines, Lewis made mental notes on how the six handled sparring each other all at the same time with no specific target in mind. His blue gaze lingered on Ravi, noticing his stunted attacks and how often he winced, even when he'd dodged their attacks.

"Come on, Ravi! Keep up!" Steel didn't seem to notice as he turned his focus to the Blue Ranger, kicking out. Ravi stumbled away, bumping into Nate and throwing off the punch he'd aimed at Devon.

"You okay?" Nate asked, noticing Ravi's hand go to his jaw.

"I'm good, I'm good," Ravi insisted, pushing Nate away before dropping down to avoid Steel's punch. Ryne grabbed the Silver Ranger's wrist, kicking him hard in the gut. The force shoved Steel backwards, leaving Nate and Ryne to trade blows. They continued to fight, before Ryne turned as she bumped into Zoey, and she reacted quickly, hitting the Yellow Ranger with an open-palmed strike to her shoulder. Zoey stumbled backwards, and blocked Devon's kick, before they heard a yell.

"I'm sorry, Ravi!" Nate gasped as he followed Ravi, who was stumbling away with a hand clutching his face.

"I'm fine, it's okay," Ravi insisted.

"I didn't mean to hurt you!" Nate was panicking, not thinking that he'd kicked that hard.

"Look, it's not you. I just have a little toothache, but I can handle it," Ravi told him, before crying out when Ryne poked his cheek. "Hey! I just told you I have a toothache!" he complained, backing away from her and glaring. Ryne shrugged.

"And you said you could handle it," she said simply, which made Devon and Zoey have to fight off their amused smiles.

"A toothache? Nate can fix it; he fixes me!" Steel suggested.

"He's not a robot like you," Zoey giggled at the suggestion.

"You mean half robot," Steel corrected, which made Ryne and Devon laugh. He never missed an opportunity to correct them.

"You have a dentist appointment?" Devon asked, still giggling.

"No, I don't do dentists," Ravi said, so firm that it took them by surprise. He then sighed. "I had a bad experience when I was little," he then shuddered, thinking about it. "The drill still gives me the heebie-jeebies. Ever since then, I've been brushing and flossing to make sure I don't need to go back. But here I am," he sighed again, frustrated that he'd woken with pain in his tooth.

"You could always try the Boulder-Roller," Ryne said simply, making Ravi frown.

"The what?" he asked.

"It's this...gnome in the Magical Realm. I think he's a gnome?" Ryne wondered to herself, before shrugging. "Either way, he attaches one end of a vine to your tooth, and the other to this big boulder that he rolls off a cliff. Tooth fixed," she explained, a mischievous smile on her face as Ravi turned paler with every word she said.

"I think I'd rather live with the pain," he told her, and she shrugged.

"I think we'd all rather live with the pain," Zoey said as Devon tried and failed to hide his laughter at such a crazy explanation to come from Ryne. Nate decided to brush past it, patting Ravi's shoulder.

"I can relate. I have arachnophobia," he admitted to him. "Any regular insect is fine, but spiders? Ew!" Nate shuddered, feeling his skin crawl at the very thought of the eight-legged creatures.

"We're all afraid of something. It's only human," Zoey smiled, but it faded a little as she glanced at Steel. He shook his head. "But there's nothing wrong with the dentist. Plus, if you have a toothache, you kinda gotta go," she pointed out.

"Maybe, but I'm just hoping it goes away on its own," Ravi smiled, not ready to accept Zoey's words.

"Good luck with that," Devon smirked.

"If you're quite done with your break," the group jumped, as if they'd forgotten that Lewis was there and they had been in the middle of training. "Ravi, you're not going to get much use out of this training if you're already in pain like that," Lewis told the Blue Ranger. "The rest of you, continue. Ravi, you-" before he could decide on something else for Ravi, their Wristcoms beeped.

"Go ahead Commander," Devon answered as they gathered around.

'Rangers, Roxy was spotted in Sector Quebec 4-1,' Commander Shaw warned. Devon looked at his team, who all looked ready to go.

"Copy that. We're on our way," he told the woman, before ending the call.

"Let's Roxy and roll!" Steel declared as they hurried out, with Ravi still keeping a hand to his jaw to alleviate the pain.

Roxy was patting the new Robotron that she'd just created using a drill, making sure Scrozzle's new device was secure, when the Rangers spotted her.

"Roxy! Stop right there!" Devon shouted, earning her attention.

"Oh great," she rolled her eyes. "The do-gooders. Wanna have some fun, Drilly?" Roxy smiled brightly at the new Robotron. "Tronics!" she shouted, and the robotic foot soldiers appeared in a flash of purple light.

"I'll put holes all through ya!" the Robotron declared.

"The only hole you're gonna see is the one we put you in," Devon promised.

"Maybe he could fix Ravi's tooth?" Ryne wondered, just loud enough for the Blue Ranger to hear and glare at her.

"It's Morphin' time!" Devon shouted, ignoring her. They called on their Morphers, transporting them to them.

"ACTIVATE BEAST POWER, HA!"

As the Rangers Morphed, Roxy grabbed her key and inserted it into the device on her wrist, calling on her armour as her form flickered again.

"This just got interesting," she purred. "Attack!" Her order was sharp, and the robots all ran at the Rangers, who fought them off. Roxy chased after Ravi, while the others focused on the Tronics. Remembering their training from that morning, Ryne dodged the almost constant attacks being thrown her way and delivered powerful punches to destroy the robots in one strike.

"Don't worry Ravi! We got your back!" Devon called as they ran over to help the struggling Blue Ranger, whose toothache was distracting him to the point where the Tronics were starting to overwhelm him.

"Thanks," Ravi groaned, fighting as best he could. Ryne ran at Roxy, jumping up and kicking out rapidly, shoving the Avatar backwards and making her curse.

"Get away, scrawny brat!" Roxy lashed out, knocking Ryne backwards and cuffing her across her helmet. Ryne stumbled, disorientated by the attack, and Roxy kicked her, knocking her to the ground. However, instead of following up, she turned and blasted Nate and Steel, throwing them away from the Robotron. They landed in a heap, groaning, and she stalked over. "Enough fun and games! Let's get out of here. It's time for Phase Two," she decided.

"They've got a whole other thing coming for them!" The massive drill on the Robotron's back began to spin, and he slammed it down. The ground caved in, and the two vanished in a cloud of dirt.

"Beast Slash!" Devon cut through the last of the Tronics, causing them to explode in purple lights.

"Shoot! Where did they go?" Devon groaned as Zoey helped Ryne back to her feet.

"Down this tunnel," Steel gestured to the massive hole in the ground. Any tunnel that had been made had collapsed, leaving the passage blocked by dirt.

"And they filled it in behind them," Nate frowned.

"But where does it lead to?" Devon asked.

"Too bad I'm not an Earth Ninja," Ryne murmured, arms folded.

"Underground, obviously," Steel answered Devon, missing the point. However, the others didn't laugh this time, too worried to find Steel's oblivious nature funny.

"Better hit the streets and check the city's security feeds," Zoey suggested, looking at their leader. "They've gotta come up sometime," she pointed out.

"I'm sorry guys. This is my fault," Ravi sighed, a hand to his helmet. "My toothache gave that Robotron the advantage," he said, feeling guilty for the Robotron escaping.

"You've gotta see a dentist, bud," Devon clapped a hand to his shoulder, and Ravi yelped in pain as the movement caused the pain in his jaw to jolt.

"Yeah...I guess I do," he grumbled.

"Want me to come with you?" Ryne offered, but he shook his head.

"No, you guys focus on finding the Robotron," Ravi put a hand on her shoulder, appreciating the offer. "I'll get Ben and Betty to come with me, maybe it'll help stop me from getting scared," he decided, and they nodded.

"Good idea," Devon agreed. "I'll search using Cruise, Zoey can check using her Zord. Ryne, you go with Steel and Nate back to base, see if you guys can find anything through the systems," he decided. The group nodded, and split up to try and find the drill-like Robotron.

Humming to herself as she searched the city using the traffic cameras, Ryne searched for any sign of the Robotron or Roxy.

"What's that song?" Steel asked, standing opposite her as he searched using the security feed that was set up across the city on the console on the other side of the desk.

"Song?" Ryne repeated, looking up at him with confusion.

"You were humming," he said simply. Ryne blinked, a little surprised.

"Was I?" she asked, and he nodded.

"You do it a lot when you work," Nate commented, not looking up from his own search. Ryne looked baffled, not having noticed it.

"Probably one of my mum's songs. She used to sing them to me as lullabies when I was little," she said, returning her attention to the screen in front of her. "She was always humming when she worked too, or if it was too quiet for her. I guess I picked up on that?" Ryne wondered, flicking to another camera.

"Sounds great! Maybe I should do the same," Steel considered.

"You don't have to do that," Nate said quickly, a little alarmed. While Steel had never tried to sing before, Nate had a feeling that he wouldn't be particularly talented at it. He quickly cleared his throat. "Hey Devon, you and Cruise spot anything yet?" He contacted the Red Ranger before Steel could press the matter.

'Sorry Nate, Sector Juliet 5-1 is drill-free,' Devon answered, the low rumble of Cruise's engine audible in the background.

'And I'm not seeing any sign of tunnels he could've come from,' Zoey answered as she flew over the city in her Zord, searching from the skies.

"Nothing on the city's security feeds either, bro," Steel added.

"Traffic cameras aren't picking up anything unusual either," Ryne included as well, swapping views. Nate hummed, using a tablet for his work.

"You know, if we can't find Roxy above ground, then maybe she and the Robotron are still underground?" Nate considered, slipping past Steel, who moved to allow Nate to use the computer.

"Why would they hide underground that long?" Steel asked.

"Yeah, their goals have always been to collect as much Morph-X as they can. They aren't going to get Morph-X underground," Ryne added. Nate's eyes lit up as an idea came to mind.

"Maybe they're not hiding. Maybe that's where they wanted to go all along!" he exclaimed. "There are storm water drains under the city, what if Roxy and the Robotron are in those?" Nate suggested, swapping the view to a map of the storm drains that created a labyrinth under the city.

"We have to check it out!" Steel exclaimed.

"Hey everyone. I've just had an idea. Ravi, are you done with the dentist?" Nate asked.

'No,' Ravi answered, and sucked in a breath as even answering him hurt. 'Just couldn't do it,' he admitted.

"So much for Ben and Betty helping stop him from running away," Ryne murmured as Nate glanced at her and Steel. Nate shook his head.

"Well, right now we have other problems. I think the Robotron might be in the storm water drains under the city. I'm sending coordinates. Meet me, Ryne and Steel there," Nate told him.

'Roger that,' Ravi confirmed, ending the link.

'Zoey and I will keep searching in case they surface above ground. Good luck,' Devon told the three.

"I hope nobody's afraid of getting a little dirty," Ryne laughed.

By the time Ravi reached the coordinates that he'd been sent, Nate, Ryne and Steel were already there, peering into the tunnel that led underground.

"Hardly anyone goes in these storm drains," Ravi commented as he joined them, stepping into the darkness.

"And no-one seems to clean them," Steel considered aloud as Nate pulled out a flashlight.

"Should be fine, just as long as there aren't any-" Nate gave a startled yell as he walked right into some cobwebs. Immediately he swatted them away, backing up into his brother as fear made him want to run.

"See what I mean? This place needs a janitor," Steel complained as Nate frantically brushed the cobwebs from his hoodie.

"Well, there's a lot more where that came from," Ravi commented as he peered past the metal bars, seeing cobwebs everywhere. Nate's breathing was loud and unsteady as he looked in.

"It's okay," he said shakily, his voice rising in pitch. "It's just webs," Nate told himself. "I won't really panic unless I see something with eight legs," he said.

"Don't you worry, brother," Steel soothed him. "There's no octopuses here," he said brightly, which made Ryne giggle.

"We'll be with you every step of the way," Ravi told Nate gently.

"Yeah," Ryne nodded with a faint smile, pushing the gate open with a slow, loud creak. She then eyed the torch that was in Nate's shaking hand, and sighed. "That thing isn't gonna help much…" she commented, and when Ravi went to ask what she had in mind, the storm drain suddenly lit up with light that poured off Ryne's skin.

"Wow, you're like a firefly!" Steel exclaimed, and Ryne laughed a little, embarrassed.

"Come on," she stepped into the tunnel, brushing the cobwebs out of her way with little hesitation. Ravi followed behind her, and Nate stepped in after him, whimpering quietly as he tried to swat away the cobwebs still in his way.

The four walked in almost total silence down the cold, narrow tunnels that made up the storm drains underground. Steel's heavy footsteps echoed, and to Nate's relief, there weren't as many cobwebs the further they got in.

"Watch your step, Steel," Nate warned his brother as they came to a steep ramp. Water trickled from somewhere that none of them wanted to ask about, and they continued further underground.

"Keep up, or you'll be left in the dark!" Roxy's threat was sharp, and the four were immediately plunged into darkness as the golden light Ryne emitted faded, leaving them with only Ravi's small flashlight. He gestured for them to keep quiet as he stepped in front of Ryne. The four crept up to the turn in the path, and peeked out to see Roxy and her drill-bot. "Just a few more feet and...we'll be under a Morph-X tower," Roxy looked straight up with a smirk. "You know the drill," she smirked at the Robotron.

"Of course! I drill into the tower, and then we steal all the Morph-X from right under their noses," the robot declared.

"Very nice of him to just tell us his plan," Ryne whispered as they listened in.

"Scrozzle, it's time to distract the Rangers. Send your Gigadrone to the other side of town, to the Southport tower," Roxy contacted Scrozzle, smirking with delight at how well her plan was going.

'I'm on it!' they heard Scrozzle's screeching voice through her communicator. Roxy then turned, and her smirk fell.

"What are you waiting for?" she snapped at Drilltron, who immediately lifted his drill and jabbed it at the concrete ceiling. The entirety of the tunnels shook, and the ceiling began to crumble around the Robotron.

"We have to warn the others," Ravi hissed, and they backed away so that Nate could use his Wristcom.

"Commander," he addressed the woman in charge with a lowered voice. "We found the Robotron. It's in the storm drains with Roxy, they're drilling up under one of the Morph-X Towers. But they're about to send in a Gigadrone to attack the Southport Tower," he warned hurriedly, trying to keep his voice down as the drilling sounds echoed.

'I'll warn Devon and Zoey,' Commander Shaw kept her own voice down as she responded, catching on quickly to their situation.

"Hurry up, Drilltron!" Roxy whined at the Robotron, quickly growing bored.

"Trust me, I'm going as fast as I can!" he whined back as he kept drilling.

"We gotta stop them," Ryne hissed. Ravi nodded, before he noticed something small and black on Nate's shoulder.

"Uh oh...Nate?" he gulped, and Nate turned his head, noticing the spider crawling across his shoulder. He immediately went rigid and opened his mouth as if to scream, but Ravi and Ryne quickly shushed him, not wanting to alert Roxy. Nate took several shallow breaths, before forcing a smile.

"I've got...to handle this...right now…" he said through gritted teeth, his breathing shaky. "The fear is all in my head," Nate told himself, his voice a few pitches higher. Slowly he reached up, and managed to gently lift the spider off his shoulder. It crawled along his hand, and the others stared as Nate set it down on the ground. "There you go, run along," he whispered, watching the spider dart away. Nate then squeaked. "Phenomenal! I did it," he exclaimed as loudly as he dared.

"You were amazing," Ryne smiled, proud of how he addressed his fear.

"Yeah, that was awes-" Ravi hissed, biting back a curse as the pain in his tooth flared. Ryne then shushed him as she heard the drill powering down, leaving the tunnels quiet again.

"Yes, yes! I'm done!" Drilltron exclaimed, pleased with himself.

"You made it into the base of the tower!" Roxy exclaimed, looking up. "Nothing can stop us now!" she cheered, only to be blasted off her feet with the Robotron.

"I think four things can," Ryne smirked as Roxy glared up at the four. They then grabbed their keys, which glowed with Morph-X.

"ACTIVATE BEAST POWER, HA!" They Morphed in the narrow tunnels as Roxy and Drilltron got back to their feet.

"We'll take care of you, and then the Morph-X is ours," Roxy growled, calling on her own dark yellow armour. They began to fight in the tunnels, trading blows as they all struggled to keep themselves from hitting the walls in such close quarters.

Scrozzle giggled to himself as he worked at his console, selecting a Gigadrone to be sent out.

"The Rangers are in for a subterranean surprise!" he laughed, pulling a lever to call on an Alpha-model Gigadrone. It took on the features of Drilltron, and vanished.

"An underground sneak attack," Asher commented, arms folded as she leaned against the wall. Blaze was pacing nearby, deep in thought. "It's a smart plan," she admitted, and Blaze shot her a glare, unhappy that she was praising Roxy.

"This puts you at risk too, you know," he pointed out, irritated by her expressionless face. No emotion betrayed her as she met his gaze easily.

"Maybe. Or maybe this plan falls apart just like the rest of Roxy's well-crafted plans," his eyes widened at her quiet words. She then smirked. "Who knows?" Asher shrugged, walking past him and over to the computer to watch the Gigadrone in action as Blaze watched, his eyebrow raised as he had to wonder the same. So far Roxy's plans had worked as well as his own. He still had time to prove himself.

In a quiet part of town, the ground suddenly rumbled and exploded up, freeing the group who had been fighting underground until Drilltron had gotten frustrated and used his drill to try and get more room to fight. As they all leapt from the hole, the four Rangers continued to fight, with Nate and Steel fighting Roxy and while Ravi and Ryne focused on the Robotron.

"That buzzing is annoying!" Ryne complained as Drilltron made buzzing noises as he tried to attack.

"Watch your back!" Ravi kicked out, hitting Drilltron in the back. The robot turned as he stumbled, lashing out at Ravi, but the Blue Ranger dodged, and Ryne got in close to punch him hard, before jumping back out.

"Hold still!" Drilltron growled, swinging his massive drill-arm like a club. "Just chill, while I drill!" he shouted.

"Give up, or - ah!" Ravi cried out in pain, his hand going to his helmet.

"Save the witty one-liners for when you're feeling better," Ryne told the Blue Ranger as he groaned.

"You're no match for my drill!" Drilltron shouted.

"Try your super-strength!" Ryne suggested. Ravi nodded, not trusting himself to speak, and focused instead on his enhanced strength. He ran at Drilltron and punched him hard enough to throw the Robotron off his feet, and he flew back several feet before landing on his back with a groan.

"That'll teach-ow!" Ravi cried again.

"Come on dude," Ryne sighed.

"Yeah…" Ravi muttered. "I just gotta get through this," he muttered.

"Let's help Nate and Steel clear out the Tronics before this guy recovers," Ryne suggested, seeing that Roxy had called on the foot soldiers to fight the two instead. Ravi nodded and they ran over to help, not seeing Roxy emerge from the bushes and lift the data-chip from Drilltron's arm. It flashed blue, making her laugh.

"Scrozzle was right! The chip did collect data when Blue used his Gorilla Beast Power," she realised, admiring it. "Come on!" she slapped Drilltron, and he got back to his feet. "Let's finish 'em off!" Roxy exclaimed.

"I'm ready!" They ran back into the fight.

Grabbing a Tronic, Ryne flung it around so that it collided with Drilltron, seeing him and Roxy join the fight. She then leapt onto a bench, using the extra height to kick up and catch the Tronics in the face, causing them to topple over and vanish in purple lights.

"They just keep coming!" Nate complained as he was surrounded by more Tronics.

"Then we'll keep knocking them down!" Ryne called, holding out her hands. "Transport Beast Spinners!" the disks appeared in green light for her to grab, and she threw them, cutting through the Tronics around Nate. "Ravi!" She shouted to the Blue Ranger as she saw the Robotron rushing towards the Morph-X Tower.

"Drilltron's one the move, but he's not getting far," Ravi said, grabbing his sword and leaping through the air to block Drilltron's path.

"You're such a meddlesome little brat," Roxy growled as she shot one of Ryne's Spinners out of the air. It landed in the grass, and Ryne arched an eyebrow.

"You and Asher should really trade notes," she said simply, and Roxy gasped, barely moving out of the way as the Spinner suddenly shot at her; the tips of the spikes scraping across her armour. "Cause you should know that calling me a brat really doesn't hurt my feelings," Ryne then rushed in and punched Roxy, making her stumble backwards.

'Come in, Ravi, Ryne! We need you here, so we can form the Megazord!' Devon's voice came over their Wristcoms.

"Sorry guys, little busy!" Ravi replied.

"Same here - whoa!" Ryne gasped as Roxy shot at her, and the blast of energy narrowly missed her.

'Then we'll hold tight till you get here,' Zoey groaned.

"Nate, Steel! Ravi and I have to help the others!" Ryne called to the pair. She then jumped backwards, and Nate and Steel stepped in front of her to continue fighting Roxy. The Pink Ranger turned and swung her chakrams, cutting through more of the Tronics around her.

"Go on Ryne, we can handle this!" Nate said confidently as he grabbed Roxy, leaving her open to Steel's attack. Nearby, there was an explosion as Ravi destroyed the Robotron.

"Ravi, Nate and Steel have got this, let's go!" Ryne called to the Blue Ranger. The two nodded, hurrying off to get their Zords. The Wheeler and Racer Zords shot out of the hangar, racing towards where their team-mates were struggling against the Gigadrone version of Drilltron.

Zoey cried out as the Drilltron battered her Zord, and she veered dangerously in the air as she struggled to keep upright, before the Racer Zord flew over a building and rammed the Gigadrone away. "You okay, Zoey?" Ryne called as her bike-styled Zord landed with a thud on the ground nearby.

"Yeah, thanks," Zoey smiled with relief as Ravi pulled up in his Wheeler Zord.

"I think the Commander is going to complain if you keep doing that sorta thing, Ryne," Devon commented, making her laugh.

"Sorry we're late," Ravi apologised.

"Boy am I glad to see you both," Zoey laughed.

"Time to take this thing out!" Ravi shouted.

"You know it!" Devon agreed. "Beast-X Megazord, combine!" they combined their Zords, forming the powerful Megazord and calling on their sword.

"Energy Shield!" Ryne called on their shields as the Gigadrone attacked again, firing multiple shots that bounced off their shield.

"The drone's movin' fast!" Jax complained.

"But not too fast for the Hyperstrike! Powering Beast-X Blade!" Zoey shouted, starting to charge up the power within their sword.

"Charging main weapons," Ravi called.

"Forcefield!" Ryne activated the bubble around Drilltron as the massive robot continued to attack. It continued to attack even from within the bubble, but the forcefield stopped any attacks from getting through.

"Devon, the target is locked," Cruise announced.

"Transport Cheetah Beast Blaster!" Devon grabbed the large blaster and the visor came down over his helmet, giving him a perfect shot. "Beast-X Hyperstrike!" when he fired, it fully charged their sword, and they cut through the Gigadrone. The forcefield vanished, absorbing the explosion. "Virus eliminated," Devon announced. On the ground below, Nate and Steel finished off the Tronics, forcing Roxy to retreat.

"Yeah! Now that's a takedown!" Nate and Steel were cheering, high-fiving as the other four Rangers ran over.

"Aw, did we miss the fun?" Ryne asked as they looked around.

"Those Tronics are junk now," Steel declared.

"Looks like Roxy got away," Devon commented as they demorphed.

"For now," Ryne was confident, certain that they'd defeat the Avatars soon enough.

"Don't worry guys. We took out the Giga-ow!" Ravi yelped.

"Ravi," Nate groaned, exasperated by Ravi constantly forgetting about the pain.

"Don't worry," Ravi managed to smile at the Gold Ranger. "If you can face your fear, I can face mine," he said, taking them by surprise. "I'm going to that dentist...right now," with a groan, Ravi jogged off.

"You got this Ravi!" Devon cheered him on.

"You faced your fear?" Zoey asked Nate, focused on what Ravi had said.

"He did, it was incredible," Ryne nodded, and Nate blushed. "He just lifted the spider off his jacket without even squeaking," she smiled.

"He was fantastic," Steel agreed as Nate's blush grew darker.

"That's great," Zoey smiled at him, and he managed a shy smile back.

"Let's hope Ravi can be as brave," Devon commented, but was confident in their Blue Ranger.

Roxy stared at the ground in front of her, trying to hide how pale she'd gotten, as Evox loomed over her.

"Tell me about your plan, Avatar," he hissed. "Did you destroy the Rangers, or get me Morph-X? Explain yourself!" Evox's voice was quieter than usual, making it even worse as Roxy handed over the data-chip to Scrozzle. She then knelt, bowing her head.

"Forgive me, Evox. My plan was foiled, but I got the Blue Ranger's Gorilla Strength data, just as I promised," she explained, daring to look up at him.

"So...not a complete failure," Evox allowed.

"This can upgrade an Avatar like Roxy with Blue's Beast Power," Scrozzle explained, and Roxy leapt to her feet.

"Do it now! I've earned it!" she ordered.

"Hey!" Blaze's shout echoed as he and Asher emerged from where they'd been listening in. "Not so fast," he growled.

"We need all four Beast Powers for it to work, right?" Asher asked as Roxy glared at them.

"Right," Evox confirmed as he turned his attention to the two.

"Well, I have a better plan," Blaze smirked. "And it will put yours to shame," he told Roxy, whose glare darkened as he towered over her.

"I like your spirit," Evox sounded almost amused. "Then it's your turn to impress me. Make it count," he warned Blaze, who held out his hand to Scrozzle.

"We need Cheetah Speed, Jackrabbit Jumping, or Squirrel Reflexes," he told Blaze, handing it over.

"When we have them all, I will decide which of you to upgrade," Evox said as Roxy continued to glare at Blaze.

"Yes, Master Evox," both he and Asher bowed, and as they did, Asher flashed Roxy a smirk, infuriating her even more.

Walking out of the dentist, Ravi slowed and his eyes widened as he saw the rest of his team waiting for him.

"Guys, what are you doing here?" he couldn't help but laugh.

"We wanted to make sure you went through with it," Steel said, and Ryne shoved him.

"He's just kidding," Devon soothed the Blue Ranger, who was trying not to look insulted.

"Am not! He ran away last time!" Steel protested, and earned several exasperated looks as Ravi went red.

"Seriously though, we're all very proud of you," Zoey told the Blue Ranger, smiling at him.

"Yeah, you faced your fears, just like Nate," Ryne nodded.

"You'll be pleased to know, I'm good as new," Ravi announced to the group. "That dentist knows her stuff," he said, making them laugh. "And so do you," he turned to Nate, putting a hand on his shoulder. "The fear was all in my head, and I beat it, just like you did," Ravi said, making the Gold Ranger smile.

"I do have one question," they looked up at Steel as he spoke up. "Ryne can heal people, right? So why didn't she just heal Ravi's toothache?" he asked, and they all stopped and looked at Ryne. She was suddenly looking away, trying to maintain an innocent look.

"Ryne?" Devon pressed, trying to hold back laughter. Ryne then turned and flashed a sweet smile.

"Oh, you know," her smile turned mischievous. "I wanted Ravi to face his fear," Ryne said, and his eyes widened.

"That's it!" he lunged at her, and Ryne took off, laughing as he gave chase.

This was a surprisingly fun chapter to write! I did have to go digging to get an old reference right, so I hope you liked it!

Let me know what you think!
