Chapter 10: Tools of the Betrayed

"Alright Devon…we're ready, where are you?" Zoey's call remained unanswered as she stood with Ravi in the middle of the training mat in Riptide Gym. A blindfold covered her eyes, and was the same for Ravi, while Devon moved almost silently around them with a similar stick to what they carried.

"This is going to be hilarious," Ryne commented to Lewis, leaning over from the booth where she sat to talk to him as she watched from the sidelines. While Ryne usually trained with the group, she knew the Swoop technique, giving her an advantage over the others, and so she sat out, drinking a smoothie and watching with her phone out to get pictures.

Ravi and Zoey both turned at every sound, arms moving slowly as they tried to figure out where Devon was. The Red Ranger still didn't speak, until the last second when he lashed out. The two barely managed to avoid his attacks, and Ravi stumbled away.

"Zoey!" Devon called out a warning to the Yellow Ranger to brace her for the attack. Through sheer luck, Zoey blocked one attack, and the sound of wood hitting wood echoed through the gym, but she wasn't lucky on the follow-up attack, which hit her upper leg and left it stinging. "Ravi!" Devon then turned to the Blue Ranger, hitting him in the stomach and then the back, making him cry out in pain.

"Come on guys, sight is a bonus, not a necessity," Lewis called to the pair.

"Easy for you to say, you have the same Animal Spirit as the creator of the Swoop technique," Ryne commented, and Lewis swatted at her.

"Do not make me embarrass you in front of them," he warned, and Ryne grinned, but kept quiet. Despite his warning, Lewis smiled faintly, having noticed that as time went on, Ryne was coming out of her shell more and more, growing comfortable with her team.

"Try to feel your beast instincts. You can't always rely on your sight," Devon spoke quietly, encouraging the pair. He then hit the ground with the end of his stick, making it reverberate out and earn their attention. Both stopped moving randomly, and focused. Lewis straightened up, and Ryne lost her grin as she noticed it too.

A beat passed as Devon moved, purposefully dragging his feet along the mat, and then both rushed him. Devon raised his stick to block Ravi's powerful, confident strike, before he dodged Zoey's as she tried to bombard him with attacks. "That's more like it!" Devon laughed, and continued to block their strikes until both swung at the same time. Using his weapon like a sword, Devon angled it to block both attacks. "That's it! That's it!" he cheered as they all breathed heavily.

"That was cool!" Zoey exclaimed as she tugged her blindfold down. "With the blindfold on, I could really feel my beast instincts kicking in," she exclaimed.

"That's exactly the point," Devon grinned.

"He's right," they looked at Lewis, who looked impressed. "You're relying on your other senses more, and it gives you even better focus and confidence in a fight," he told them, before lowering his voice. "And having animal DNA mixed in with your own is helping you nail that even faster," he added, making them grin.

"Faster than you?" Zoey asked, and Lewis snorted.

"Please," he chuckled.

"Lewis cheats. His Animal Spirit is a bat, same as Master Swoop, the guy who came up with this technique," Ryne said simply, and Lewis angled his head to look over at her.

"One more comment and I'll use it on you," he warned, making them all laugh.

"Delivery for Devon Daniels," Devon looked around, about to take a seat, as Betty called out to him.

"We know you've been waiting for it, so we thought we'd surprise you," Ben grinned as Devon saw the large box in Betty's arms. His eyes widened, and a smile lit up his face.

"My virtual reality headset! It came!" He grabbed the box eagerly. "This took forever to show up," he ripped the packaging off to pull the VR headset out, and opened the box. Ben and Betty gasped as they saw the goggles and gloves. "This is the best VR gaming gear ever made. All those months of saving are about to pay off. I can't wait to try it out!" Devon exclaimed, but as he went to put it on, their Wristcoms beeped loudly. His smile faded, and he turned as Zoey answered.

"Go ahead," she spoke, glancing around.

"Blaze has been spotted in Sector Echo 6-8," Commander Shaw warned. "Nate and Steel are responding. I'm transmitting coordinates to you," she said.

"Roger that," Zoey answered, and she and Ravi jumped back up to hurry out.

"Do me a favour and take this back to base," Devon handed over his headset reluctantly. "But please, don't let anything happen to it, okay?" he pleaded with the pair.

"Oh, and can you grab my skateboard too?" Ryne requested, gesturing to the board by the table.

"Of course! You can count on us!" Ben nodded as Devon and Ryne hurried out. "We promise!" he called.

"I need to go ahead and keep an eye on the fight," Lewis told Ben and Betty, who nodded. The instructor usually watched the battles, making note of where the Rangers needed to improve. "Be careful with that thing," he commented, eyeing the VR headset.

"We will!" Ben smiled, and Lewis nodded before hurrying out as well.

By the time the Rangers reached the coordinates that Devon sent, Nate and Steel were already locked in battle with him.

"Get lost, Blaze!" Nate warned the Avatar, who wore his deep red armour and wielded a sword.

"Should've stayed in your lab, nerd," Blaze jeered back. "Tronics, finish them!" he ordered, but as the robots ran in, they suddenly hesitated, and he growled as the other four Rangers leapt in already Morphed.

"Sorry we're late," Devon said as they landed in front of their team-mates.

"Glad to see you guys," Nate grinned, already hurting from the fight with Blaze.

"Transport!" they called on their blasters, with Ryne taking her Beast Spinners.

"Let's go!" Devon shouted, and they rushed into battle.

"Are you guys getting slower?" Ryne wondered, dodging another attack and kicking a Tronic backwards. It landed heavily in a seat and fell backwards, as Ryne spun, throwing her chakrams as she did. The Tronics jerked and exploded in purple lights, and Ryne caught her weapons as she pulled them back to her. "I guess so," she laughed.

"The Robotron maker!" she heard Devon's shout, and looked around as Devon used his super speed to run at Blaze. The Avatar couldn't react as Devon was suddenly in front of him, swinging down his sword and cutting through the computer.

"No!" Blaze cried out in horror as he threw himself to the ground beside the pieces of the computer. "What have you done?!" he grabbed each piece as if hoping it could be salvaged, before tossing it aside. "You'll pay for that, Red Ranger. I'm outta here," Blaze snarled, and disappeared, taking the broken computer with him. Nearby, the others destroyed the last of the Tronics, which vanished.

"That's the end of that," Zoey grinned.

"Thank goodness," Ryne commented, stretching.

"Great job. Come on," Ravi said, and they hurried over to Devon.

"Did Blaze get away?" Steel asked.

"Yeah," Devon sighed, annoyed that he'd let the Avatar escape once again. Even with the computer broken, it didn't feel like a complete victory.

"Rats! He always does!" Steel complained.

"Don't worry," Devon soothed. "He left with his Robotron Maker in pieces," he told them, taking them by surprise.

"You broke it?" Ryne asked, and Devon nodded. "That's awesome! Even if they make a new one, at least we've delayed their plans," she smiled under her helmet, trying to keep positive.

"Let's tell the Commander the good news," Nate suggested, and they hurried off back to base.

"The Tronics just kept coming, and Blaze was about to create a Robotron, but I smashed the computer that makes them," Devon said as he, Ryne and Nate filled the Commander in on what happened out in the field.

"With how Devon broke it, they'll need to build a new one, so that'll take some time," Ryne spoke up from Devon's other side.

"That'll take the pressure off of us," Nate continued, and gave a sigh of relief. "It'll be good to have more time to devote to my projects," he admitted. While he was thrilled at becoming a Ranger and wouldn't give it up for anything, he did miss the amount of time he had been able to spend building things. "The Gigadrone Detectors that Ryne and I have been working on are almost ready, and I'm working on a new Megazord combination too," Nate listed his projects for the Commander as she sat down.

"Good," the woman nodded, pleased with the report. "Any advantage we can get over Evox will help. You're dismissed," the three nodded and turned, leaving the Command Centre.

"The perfect time to try out my VR headset," Devon declared as they walked down the corridor, making Ryne laugh.

"Go enjoy. We'll get the Gigadrone Detectors finished," she told him, and Devon hurried off to find Ben and Betty while the Pink and Gold Rangers went back to Nate's lab.

"VR headset?" Nate asked Ryne, curious.

"Devon's been saving for months for it and it arrived right before Blaze attacked," she explained as they stepped into the lab and went to the table that had all the parts for the detectors scattered across it. "Supposed to be the best one available, but probably not as good as the battle sim here," Ryne considered, making Nate laugh quietly. They then got to work, and while Nate worked on the coding that allowed the sensors to pick up incoming Gigadrones, Ryne was working on the circuit boards, focusing on making sure they were right.

Nate had approached Ryne a few days prior, not long after their last Gigadrone battle against Drilltron, asking if she wanted to help with the project. While it was something that Nate could probably have handled by himself, having Ryne around made it go faster, which was necessary with his Ranger duties. She had been unsure at first, knowing that he was much smarter and more skilled at creating new tech, but she was a fast learner and her own experience tinkering with leftover tech from SPD gave her experience of her own.

"That's the last of them done now," Ryne said, sorting the casings into piles for each individual sensor. She then looked at the rest of the parts, and hoped that this would give them another advantage over Evox and his group.

"How dare you beg for mercy after failing again?" Evox's voice was quiet, showing his true fury, as Roxy and Asher listened in from behind the wall.

"But Master Evox, I didn't break the Robotron Maker!" Blaze pleaded, and the two exchanged looks. That was a colossal failure on his part. "The Rangers did!" he protested as he stood, staring fearfully up at the virus who loomed over him.

"Enough excuses! Leave, before I blast you to bits and scatter you across this dimension!" Evox ordered, and Blaze backed away quickly.

"Yes, Master," he answered.

"How sad," Roxy spoke mockingly. "Do-" she stopped, realising that Asher was already gone. Her face darkened, knowing exactly what the other Avatar was going to do.

"Reckless Avatar!" Scrozzle was complaining as he worked to build a new computer, salvaging what he could from the destroyed pieces that Blaze had brought back. "Without my technology, we wouldn't stand a chance against those rotten Rangers!" he exclaimed, going back to his console and hitting buttons roughly. Blue lights shone through the new computer, powering it up.

"Probably true," he jumped, giving a surprised squeal as Asher leaned over the workbench to peer at the new computer. "Nice work on the new computer," she said, picking up one of the pieces from the broken version that had been ripped apart for the new one and studying it.

"Why thank you," Scrozzle sniffed, before glaring at her suspiciously. "What do you want?" he asked, and Asher tossed the scrap over her shoulder.

"I have a plan. But I'm going to need a really specific Robotron for it," her form flickered, and Scrozzle tilted his head, wondering just what she had in mind.

After they'd finished building the Gigadrone Detectors, Nate called the Rangers to the lab, demonstrating how they had to be assembled. Commander Shaw stood watching, and Ben, Betty and Lewis had also joined, curious.

"Insert the final piece...and…" Nate slid the scanner into the metal block, and connected the wires. "That is how you assemble a Gigadrone Detector," he explained, pressing the buttons to switch it on.

"Right on!" Steel exclaimed. "So...what's it for?" he asked, making his brother smile, amused.

"Well, these Detectors will warn us when a Gigadrone is about to arrive," he explained.

"So no more surprise attacks," Zoey considered. "Like that drilling Gigadrone who snuck up on us underground. Hated that guy," she remembered, shaking her head.

"Nate, it's genius," Ravi praised the Gold Ranger, who smiled bashfully.

"Ryne helped too. It would have taken way longer to get them completed without her," Nate gestured to the Pink Ranger, who was currently studying Devon's VR headset. He'd brought it to her a little while before, saying that Zoey had accidentally broken it when trying it on. She looked up, and went red.

"It was all Nate, I just followed his instructions," she insisted, still easily embarrassed by their praise.

"We need to set up Detectors all around the city," Devon said, ready to get to work.

"Make sure to choose a location where the public won't notice the devices," Commander Shaw told them.

"Every location requires a different configuration, so they need to be assembled on-site," Ryne spoke up.

"Each Ranger takes a unit. Ben and Betty, you guys build one as a team," Devon told the two, who nodded. "Let's get to work," he said, and everyone grabbed one of the cases that were sitting on another table, heading out to set them up.

"Those Gigadrones won't know what hit 'em!" Steel cheered, excited.

Humming along to the music playing in her headphones as she attached the Gigadrone Detector to the top of an old warehouse in the district she'd been assigned, Ryne set the device up quickly, having memorised the steps when building them.

"Huh," she stopped as she went to insert the cables into the back. "I guess I do hum a lot," she considered, before plugging in the cables and flipping the switch. Immediately it lit up, active and ready to go, making Ryne smile faintly.

Once she was sure that it was secure and wouldn't come loose even in a strong wind, Ryne climbed back down off the roof and grabbed the skateboard that she'd left there. Ryne flipped it over, checking the wheels and frowning, having noticed that they were looser than usual after Ben and Betty had given it back to her. It was old, having belonged to her uncle previously, but it had been well looked after.

Ryne then set it down and stepped onto it, pushing herself into motion to start the trip back to Grid Battleforce. "Guess I'll ask them when I get back," she considered, headed back to continue the repairs on Devon's VR headset.

She frowned as she thought about it, not having seen any sign of injury from Zoey that should have come with hitting something hard enough to smash the VR headset. "Ben and Betty though…" Ryne murmured aloud as she turned a corner, weaving around the people walking by. "They both were hurt…" she thought about the plasters they both had on their heads. "I'll ask when I get back," she repeated, pushing her foot to the ground to speed up.

Asher smirked as she peered over the railings, looking down at Ben and Betty as they installed a device to a pole beside an entrance to a car park.

"Pass me a screwdriver," Ben asked his sister, standing on top of a ladder as Betty stood below, passing him what he needed.

"Perfect. We can mess with them to get the Rangers to show up," she set the Robotron Maker down and opened it, connecting a key to charge with the Evox Virus. "Now...where's the-perfect!" Asher grabbed the spanner she'd taken from Scrozzle - despite his protests - and when the computer beeped, having charged the key, she pulled it out. "This is going to be fun," she jabbed the key into the spanner and set it down, backing away. A moment later, there was a flash of purple, and a new Robotron stood where the spanner had been, laughing.

"What are the nuts and bolts of this operation?" he asked, and Asher shushed him.

"First off, sneak attack. Show me what you can do," she gestured over the railings.

"You mean, what I can undo!" the Robotron exclaimed, turning and blasting a nearby X-Bike. It disassembled in seconds, and the pieces clattered to the ground.

"Oh, I love it," Asher laughed, walking over and taking the canister of Morph-X that now lay uselessly with the rest of the pieces. "Your next target will be the Rangers and any of their fun toys," she decided, before her eyes lit up. "Oh, but first…we need to hook you up with Scrozzle's Data Chip," she pressed the device to the robot's back and activated it. "We need data on Red, Yellow or Pink's Beast Powers," Asher then leaned on the railings, and laughed. "Oh, what perfect timing," she giggled, seeing Zoey pull up in one of the jeeps and step out, chatting to the two as they finished what they were doing. "Tooltron, do your magic on her Wristcom," Asher instructed, watching Zoey help back up the tools. "Without it, she can't Morph...pathetic," Asher scoffed.

"Yes ma'am, I'll give it a shot," he took aim at Zoey's Wristcom, but as he fired, she moved the hood of the boot and the blast bounced off.

"Great aim, genius!" Asher hissed.

"But she moved!" Tooltron whined, and they heard the low rumble of the jeep, turning to see Zoey drive off with Ben and Betty.

"Shit," Asher hissed, annoyed that they'd missed their chance.

"Should we follow them?" Tooltron asked, and turned to see Asher stalking off.

"Better plan," she called over her shoulder. "We just need to wait for them to show up again and catch them off guard. They'll never know what hit them," Asher said confidently.

Nate had been the first to return to base, having set his Detector up not too far from Grid Battleforce. Shortly after, Ryne and Steel returned, followed by Ravi, and then Devon.

"How's it going?" Devon was now hovering awkwardly around Ryne as she returned to working on fixing his headset.

"About as well as it was five minutes ago," Ryne answered shortly, and Devon went red, knowing that he was being impatient. She then sighed, pulling her goggles up to look up at him. "This tech is really good, I can see why it's the best headset out there. It's pretty much on par with what I've seen at SPD," she admitted.

"Does that mean you can't fix it?" Devon asked, and Ryne looked almost offended.

"No tech at SPD has ever beaten me," she told him, and a small smile returned to Devon's face. "Just give me some time and stop asking every five minutes," Ryne scolded lightly, returning to her work. Devon turned away, seeing both Ravi and Nate smiling at her attitude.

"Zoey, Ben and Betty are on their way," they looked around as Commander Shaw walked in, having heard from the last two groups. "Let's get started," she said.

"Yes ma'am," Nate agreed, and Ryne pulled off the goggles and walked over, knowing she needed to pay attention to what they were doing. "Activating all Gigadrone Detectors," Nate said as he started to connect to each device that had been set up across the city. "Huh...Station Six isn't working," he realised, seeing that one of the seven wasn't responding to the connection. "That's...Ben and Betty's unit," he realised.

"Let me know when you get it online," Commander Shaw told him, and he nodded as she left the room.

"Maybe they forgot a wire or something?" Ryne suggested as Nate kept trying to connect to the Detector that the siblings had worked on.

"Maybe…" Nate considered.

"Weird...can we take a look at it?" Ravi asked as they peered over Nate's shoulder. He was quiet for a moment, looking for a way to check.

"There's a security camera I can access," he told the group. "Here it is," he said, bringing up a live feed of the area. Nate then frowned, zooming in on the ground as he spotted something.

"What the…? Looks like Ben and Betty didn't even build their detector yet," Devon commented.

"Then why are they on their way back?" Ryne asked, confused as Nate checked the surrounding area.

"Sorry we're late," they all turned, including the Beast Bots who'd been waiting quietly. "I just thought we deserved a little treat," Zoey smiled as she walked in with Ben and Betty, all three eating ice cream.

"Did you really get ice cream? Instead of setting up the Gigadrone Detector?" Ravi asked, stunned at their behaviour. Their smiles faded.

"Wait, we did set it up," Betty argued, looking confused.

"Yeah, just like you wanted," Ben gave a nervous laugh.

"Well, that's hard to believe, since your detector is still in pieces," Devon gestured to the feed on their disassembled Detector.

"What?" Zoey gasped as she walked over to get a closer look. "But I saw it! It was fully installed!" she insisted, still holding the bottom of her ice cream cone that she hadn't finished. "I don't get it…" Zoey breathed, staring at it.

"And there's something I don't get," Devon approached her, and Zoey turned to him. "Earlier, when my VR headset got smashed, you said you were the one wearing it," he said, and a guilty look crossed Zoey's face. Ryne watched her, realising that Devon had the same suspicions she did. "Thing is, you were just fine, but it was pretty banged up," he gestured to the device currently on one of the tables. "Just like Ben and Betty," Devon turned to the brother and sister, who exchanged looks before sighing.

"You're right. We broke your headset. I put it on and tripped on Ryne's skateboard…" Betty admitted.

"I just covered for them, because I didn't want them to get into trouble," Devon turned back to Zoey as she confessed her part. "But they did set up the Detector!" she insisted.

"You lied to me about the headset, so why should I believe you about the Detector?" Devon asked, angry and hurt that she'd lied to him instead of letting the two tell the truth.

"Why?" Zoey frowned at him. "Because we're friends," she pointed out, her voice quiet.

"Friends are supposed to be honest with each other Zoey, and you were not," Devon told her. Zoey's eyes went wide, and tears stung at them. Not trusting herself to speak, Zoey turned and stormed out.

"Zoey, wait!" Jax shouted, following her out. An awkward silence fell over the group as Devon glared at the screen.

"Just a little harsh, maybe?" Ravi was the one to call Devon out. "She was just trying to help Ben and Betty," Ravi pointed out, understanding Zoey's actions.

"She was right, you would have been really angry at them," Nate agreed. Devon, still angry, glanced at Ryne for her input. She sighed.

"I think you were both in the wrong. Zoey shouldn't have lied, especially just because she knew you would have been less angry at her than Ben and Betty," Ryne admitted, running a hand through her hair. "But…" she continued before Devon could take it as being on his side. "You were still too harsh on her. Yeah, she lied about the headset, but I don't see why she'd lie about this," Ryne gestured to the screen showing the Gigadrone Detector.

"Whatever," Devon shook his head. "Let's go. We've gotta finish setting up that last Gigadrone Detector," he walked out, and with a sigh, the other Rangers followed them out.

Arriving at the place where Ben and Betty were supposed to set up their device, Devon climbed up the ladder and started to assemble it as Nate and Ryne checked to make sure the pieces weren't damaged by being left on the ground.

"Looking good up there, Devon," Steel encouraged as he watched Devon putting the device together.

"One sec…" he switched it on, and it began to beep.

"It's linked to the network," Nate smiled as he heard the noises.

"Great," Ravi nodded. "Next time Scrozzle sends one of his Gigadrones, we'll be ready," he said as Devon climbed down from the ladder.

"Ready...to be destroyed," they whirled around as Asher's voice rang out, and they saw her in her armour with her Robotron beside her.

"A Robotron!" Steel groaned.

"Great, they built a new machine faster than I'd hoped," Ryne grumbled, seeing the Robotron Maker in Asher's hand.

"Only one way to fix that. It's Morphin' Time!" Devon shouted.

"ACTIVATE BEAST POWER, HA!" they shouted. "Unleash the beast!" The five Rangers Morphed, and Devon and Ravi called on their Beast-X Blasters as Ryne grabbed her Beast Spinners.

"Showtime!"

"Sure is!" Tooltron laughed, firing his small gun at them. Instead of hitting them, however, beams of light hit their weapons, and the five gasped when their weapons fell apart in their hands.

"Huh?"

"What?" Nate struggled to hold onto his blaster, before it completely split apart.

"Our blasters!" Devon cried out.

"Hey!" Ryne exclaimed as the pieces of metal that had made up her Spinners clattered to the ground with the rest of their weapons.

"He just took them apart!" the five crouched to try and lift the pieces that had made up their weapons.

"What happened? You were all so confident a minute ago!" Asher laughed.

"Hah! We can just call in new weapons!" Steel shot back, trying to keep his confidence. Asher smirked.

"Not so fast!" Tooltron then shot at them again, hitting the transporters on their chests that allowed them to call on their weapons.

"Oh come on!" Ryne whined.

"We've got nothing to fight with," Nate gulped.

"This will be tougher than we thought," Ravi admitted, nervous as Asher laughed at how quickly they changed their tunes.

"And for my next trick, I'll disassemble an entire Ranger!" Tooltron took aim at Steel, who took a step back in alarm. "Say goodbye, robot!" he laughed, but as he fired, a blast of blue energy slammed into his chest. The attack flew over Steel's head, hitting the Detector nearby.

"Nice try, but you missed!" Steel taunted as Ryne lowered her hand, letting out a sigh of relief. "Wait, look!" the Silver Ranger pointed out the pieces of the machine on the ground.

"The Detector!" Nate ran over to the machine.

"Okay, I'm bored of this. You know what would be more fun?" Asher smirked as she turned to her Robotron. "Picking on someone alone. Go find Yellow and dismantle anything she tries to use. I'll take care of these idiots," she instructed Tooltron.

"Perfect!" he giggled, running off.

"What happened?" Ravi asked as Nate studied the pieces of the Detector they'd just set up.

"That blast completely dismantled it," Nate said thoughtfully.

"Then Ben and Betty really did build their detector," Devon groaned, closing his eyes. "Oh man, Zoey was telling the truth," he realised.

"Hey jerks!" Asher shouted, aiming her blaster at them. However, before she could fire a shot, Devon was running, stopping in front of her to punch the blaster out of her hand. Asher cried out, unable to hold onto it. As Ravi ran at her, throwing a punch with enhanced strength, Asher gave a growl.

"No thank you," she spat, and vanished in a flash of pink lights.

"Missed!" Ravi groaned. "Where did that Robotron go?" he asked, turning to the others.

"Asher sent him after Zoey," Ryne warned. Devon immediately opened a communication line, trying to reach the Yellow Ranger.

"Come in, Zoey. There's a Robotron heading your way," he warned, but there was no response. "Zoey, do you copy?" Devon tried again. "Why isn't she answering?" he asked nervously. He knew that while Zoey was upset, she wouldn't purposefully ignore the communication.

"Maybe Tooltron found her," Steel considered. Worried, Devon tried a different approach.

"Jax, any idea where Zoey might be?" He tried her Beast Bot, who knew Zoey better than most.

'She said she needed to think,' Jax responded immediately. 'She's probably at Forsner Park,' he suggested.

"Okay," the group hurried to try and find Zoey, hoping that she was okay.

By the time the group arrived at the park, Zoey was surrounded by Tronics as Tooltron taunted her. Before the robots could hit her, she leapt through the air, avoiding them and sailing through the air before landing beside their car.

"Zoey? Are you okay?" Nate called out to her as they climbed out of the car.

"I'm fine, but my Morpher," Zoey gestured to the scattered pieces on the ground. She then looked around to see Cruise pull up, changing forms.

"Heard you need one of these!" He threw her a spare Morpher that was kept in case of emergencies. "And transporters!" Cruise then threw replacement transporters to the other five Rangers.

"Nice!"

"Thanks, Cruise!" Devon thanked his Beast Bot with a grin. "Time to give that creep a taste of his own medicine," he said as they attached their Transporters to the straps on their shoulders. "Let's do this!"

"Transport!" they all called on their blasters. "Beast Blast!" they all fired shots, destroying most of the Tronics and tossing Tooltron away.

"His blaster!" Zoey spotted the weapon Tooltron used to dismantle their weapons.

"I've got it!" with another shot, Devon destroyed it.

"Great shot," Zoey complimented as she stepped forwards, attaching her Morpher to her wrist. "Our gear's safe, but we're not done yet," she pointed out, seeing Tooltron getting back up. "ACTIVATE BEAST POWER!" she Morphed in a flash of yellow.

"You'll pay for that," Tooltron warned angrily.

"Transport Beast-X Saber!"

"Transport Beast Spinners!" Ryne called on the spare weapons that Nate had built, and they ran forwards, cutting through the Tronics. "Take this!" she spun, cutting through the Tronics around her, before throwing each of the disks out to take out even more around her.

"I'll break your weapons myself!" Tooltron vowed as he fought off Devon. He then gave a yell as Ryne leapt in, kicking him in the back and knocking him away from Devon.

"Good luck with that," she taunted, ducking under his punch before swinging her arm and using her Spinner to cut through his armour. Nate then leapt in, helping the two. After he landed several blows with his sword, Devon kicked Tooltron hard and threw him back.

"Ready to drop this guy?" Devon asked.

"Oh yeah," Ryne nodded with a grin.

"Affirmative," Nate grinned.

"Transport Blaster!" The three grabbed their blasters that appeared in front of them.

"You'll be a bucket of bolts now!" they began to charge up their blasters as Tooltron pushed himself back to his feet.

"Beast Blast!" they fired three powerful shots that combined as they hit Tooltron, destroying the robot.

"Yeah!" The three cheered.

"Aw, I missed it," Steel complained as he, Zoey and Ravi reached them. "But good job, bro," he added, patting Nate on the shoulder.

"The Tronics are toast," Ravi grinned.

"Then let's head back to base," Devon told them, and the group ran off. As they did, they missed Asher appearing in a flash of pink.

"Tooltron might have been lame, but at least he wasn't entirely useless," she commented, lifting the Data Chip from the smoking pile of ash. It flashed yellow, making her smirk. "Two down, two to go," with that, Asher vanished again.

1-2-3-4-5

"Ah!" When she reappeared back in the Cyber Dimension, Scrozzle jumped and turned to her. "At least you seem to have one brain cell rattling around in that head of yours," he grumbled as she handed over the Data Chip.

"Yeah, yeah," she rolled her eyes. "Oh, and as an extra souvenir," she pulled the small canister of Morph-X that she'd taken from the dismantled bike, and threw it to him. Scrozzle sniffed haughtily.

"I suppose it's a scrap better than the other two," he considered, and Asher looked over her shoulder to where Roxy was standing, glaring at her for getting ahead of her to take over from Blaze's failure. Asher just winked at her. "It's still barely anything! Now I have to send in a Gigadrone to take advantage of this mess," Scrozzle complained.

"Yeah yeah," Asher waved a dismissive hand.

"I think I'll include a Delta model surprise this time," Scrozzle considered, pulling the lever to activate the systems and transport the Gigadrone out of the Cyber Dimension.

The Rangers didn't have much time to rest after returning to the base as the alarm blared.

'Rangers,' they gathered around as Commander Shaw contacted them. 'One of the Detectors was triggered. There's a Gigadrone on the way. Deploy all Zords,' she instructed.

"Back to work," Devon nodded, and they hurried to the Zord bay to get to their Zords.

"Wrecker Zord, Battle Mode!" Nate changed the form of his Zord as they arrived in the city, ready to fight.

"Looks cool, Nate!" Ryne complimented, as they called on their Megazord.

"Gigadrone on radar, here we go," Devon warned, ready for the oncoming Gigadrone.

"We're ready for it," Nate said confidently, before a Gigadrone version of Tooltron appeared in a flash of green and landed in the city, causing a tremor to run through the entire city. To their surprise, however, as it straightened up, it flashed with golden light, and a second Gigadrone emerged from its back.

"Unreal!" Devon gasped. "Did you guys see that?" he asked, unsure if he'd actually seen right.

"That was so gross," Ryne complained. "It's a new kind of Gigadrone. That's not good," she commented.

"That was nasty!" Zoey groaned.

"Good thing our Gigadrone Detector system is up and running, otherwise we would have been too late," Ravi considered, worried.

"Yeah," Devon nodded in agreement. "Let's get 'em," he called, and while their Megazord focused on the new one, Nate went after the other with Steel. Devon then grunted as they slammed their sword against the Gigadrone, who didn't even flinch. "This bot's tough," he groaned.

"Watch out!" Ryne shouted, and they were knocked back by a blow to the chest. A second one made their consoles spark dangerously, sending up clouds of smoke.

"We need backup!" Zoey shouted.

"Let's use that new Megazord combination!" Steel suggested.

"Like we practiced!" Nate agreed. Their Zords then split apart and combined, forming the Striker Megazord.

"Rapid blast!" They fired multiple shots at the Gigadrones, knocking them into each other. "Now's our chance!" Nate shouted. "Hey guys! Let's finish 'em!" he called to the others as they recovered, and the Striker Megazord began to charge up.

"Yeah!" they ran in and leapt into the air.

"Beast-X Hyperkick!"

"Striker Hyperblast!" as the Beast-X Megazord flew from the sky, picking up speed, Nate and Steel fired a powerful finishing blast, and the combined attacks caused a massive explosion, destroying the two Gigadrones.

"Virus eliminated!" the six chorused together.

"Hey, what's up with you?" Ravi was the one who noticed Ryne's uncertain expression as they walked towards Riptide Gym, where Devon was already waiting with Zoey. At least, they hoped Zoey was there after what had taken place that day.

"You don't look so good. Maybe you need a tune-up?" Steel suggested, making the others laugh as Ryne smiled faintly.

"Just my mum talking about coming to visit sometime when she's back from New Zealand," she said, flipping her phone in her hand. "She wants to come visit with dad too…" she murmured, running a hand through her loose black hair, which fell into her face.

"That's a bad thing?" Betty asked, confused.

"Not really," Ryne laughed a little. "But...you guys aren't really ready for them yet," she determined, taking them by surprise.

"We aren't?" Nate asked, not understanding.

"You guys think I'm weird. My parents are a whole other level," she said, making them laugh again.

"I'm sure we can handle it," Ravi said confidently. Ryne snorted.

"You're the one I'm most confident about not being able to handle it," she told him honestly, and his jaw dropped.

"Hey!" he protested, before they pushed the doors to the gym open.

"Delivery for Devon Daniels!" Ben and Betty called, walking over as they saw Devon and Zoey hugging, having apologised to each other for their fight. Devon's eyes widened as he saw the headset and gloves in their hands.

"My headset! You fixed it!" Devon exclaimed, jumping out of his seat to take it from them.

"Ryne did most of the work," they said, gesturing to the Pink Ranger.

"But they were the ones who got hold of a replacement visor and worked out the last of the issues," Ryne refused to take the credit, knowing that it would have taken a lot longer without them.

"Go on, give it a try," Nate encouraged. Devon didn't need any persuasion, slipping the gloves on before taking the headset from Betty.

"But be careful. There's a mean looking shark in the surf game," she warned him seriously.

"Oh, no worries," Devon dismissed it, pulling the headset on and turning it on. Immediately he booted up the surfing game. "Surf's up, dudes!" he laughed as they watched his reactions. He gasped, and stumbled, and they reached out to steady him as he giggled. "I fell off the board," he admitted, and Betty's eyes lit up.

"Wait for it," she warned, grinning, and a beat later he yelled in fear.

"Shark! Shark!" Devon yelled, stumbling backwards and tripping, falling. The group couldn't help but laugh as he pulled it off, looking up at them with an embarrassed smile.

"Told you that shark was mean," Betty teased, and their laughter grew as Devon joined in.
