Hallways filled with many twists and turns seemed to be the future for Seraphina. After her split from the group she had wandered these halls aimlessly only having come into contact with one lame Phantom wizard. They hadn't even told her where she could find the Element Four or the Forces of Nature. It was seriously wearing on her patience.
Seraphina stopped running for a moment and took a deep breath, then as if a fuse had short-circuited in her she began twitching.
"I'm about to pull a Natsu in this silly place!" She shouted before stomping on the stupid stone floor in a fit of annoyance. "Seriously, how long do I have to run around until I meet someone? I never signed up for a freaking marathon!"
Miraculously, as if the universe had decided to help her out a bit, her nose caught wind of a certain smell. She hadn't really been able to decipher any since she stepped foot in the unfamiliar building… but this smelled like plants and the earth. Plus, the lingering scent had traces of magic power leading to it.
Could this be one of them?
Wasting no time at all Seraphina raced down the hall, her descent aided by the speed of her Flash Magic. She couldn't wait to take out whichever Phantom Lord member she happened to run into. There was no way she was going to lose, Seraphina was going to get revenge. She was going to show Phantom just who they were messing with.
A cloying scent began to invade her nostrils. It was somewhat similar to the smell from before, but a lot stronger this time, she must have been getting close. At least she hoped so. If this wasn't the right place then this aroma would completely incapitate her dragon slaying senses. Seraphina had already begun to feel lightheaded, similar to what had happened at Galuna with that maid-rat.
Seraphina grimaced at even the slight thought of that smell. One of the worst things she had ever smelled, but this wasn't bad. It smelled nice. Amazing even; like sweet flowers…
Seraphina hadn't even realized that she had started swaying on her feet. She stiffened before grabbing hold of the wall next to her. This scent was having a weird effect on her and she wished now more than ever that her enhanced sense of smell would disappear, it would be hard to fight like this.
A sickenly sweet laugh reverberated around her and Seraphina looked up to see a girl standing a couple feet in front of her.
"It seems you found me," the girl said before sighing. "I thought for sure I'd attract the attention of the Dragon Slayer. I know from Gajeel that their kind has a sense of smell that could put the instincts of hunting dogs to shame… but no matter,"
Her smile turned twisted and she looked at Seraphina with glee, "I've got my own little treat right here."
Seraphina straightened and she regarded her opponent with a grin, little did she know she had attracted exactly what she desired, "I do have to say thank you, I was getting sick and tired of running around in this place! It felt like a freaking maze, but you were so kind and led me right to you. Amazing, we need more people like you in this world!"
To say she was taken aback was an understatement. This Fairy Girl's positive nature didn't make sense, especially considering the Phantom Lord guild was the only one that could gloat right now. Fairy Tail was soon to be in shambles. Their Master and top wizard were destroyed. What gall did this girl have to smile in her face?
The ground in front of her began to rumble and Seraphina's eyes widened as several large vines shot out of the floor. One of them whacked her across the stomach, hard, and she cried out before crashing into one of the many doors in the hall.
Her impact broke the wood into pieces, but she continued to fly through the air. Seconds before she hit the ground Seraphina flipped around and, not so gracefully, landed on her feet. She skidded on the ground before coming to a rough stop.
A red magic circle appeared at the base of the Phantom girl's feet and she pointed her arm at Seraphina, "I'm Dahlia Withers, member of the Phantom Lord guilds elite forces. I've made quite the name for myself, one that you may have heard of: Poison Ivy."
Seraphina looked up quickly and Dahlia, or Poison Ivy, smirked knowingly. Seraphina in turn cursed under her breath, she shouldn't have made it so obvious she knew her. Now her ego, which seemed to be fairly significant, would be inflated.
"Yeah, I only heard that name once though," Seraphina replied, keeping her tone light. "When we were in Lucy's house discussing just how many butts we had to kick. My name is Seraphina Yuna, and you are going to have the great honor of losing to me!"
Dahlia laughed, "The fact that you think you have the slightest inkling of victory is hilarious to me. Your Master is defeated. Erza Scarlet, the Fairy Queen known as Titania is out of commission. Laxus Dreyer and Mystogan are nowhere to be seen."
"Aru and Arjun Cheema are preoccupied, which is a pity because perhaps the two of them together would have a shot at defeating any of us," Dahlia laughed even harder. "This is such a pitiful situation I almost feel bad for you!"
Seraphina clenched her fists, she was done hearing all this. Magic power built up at the base of her feet and the Flash Mage shot forward.
Dahlia was still boasting and she failed to realize the shooting light heading right towards her. She paused and looked forward just in time to see Seraphina's glowering face before a barreling fist sank into her stomach.
A gurgle sounded out in Dahlia's throat and Seraphina watched plainly as the Phantom mage flew forward and crashed into the wall. She didn't want to play around with her. All she wanted to do was win.
"Flash Cannon: Full Shot!"
Her magic energy shot hit Dahlia just as expected and Seraphina allowed herself a small smile. If she was going to defeat her she had to do it in true Fairy Tail fashion afterall, and if that were to happen Seraphina just had to tease her.
"Awh, what happened?" she asked feigning concern, "You were supposed to defeat me and the rest of Fairy Tail. If you can't handle my warning shot then uhhh… I don't really see it happening."
Dahlia shot up and stared at the Flash Mage. She was not amused. There was no way she was going to let this smiling Fairy brat beat her.
A red magic circle appeared in front of her, "Vine Barrage!"
Seraphina watched curiously as a volley of vines shot out from Dahlia's spell. So she was a plant magic user that from what she saw so far that relied on vines. Interesting.
"Ooo, that's so cool!" Seraphina said before jumping up, a ball of purple energy building up in her palms, "Let me show you my barrage spell too!"
"Flash Barrage!"
Small spheres of light pulsed down wreaking havoc on Dahlia's vines. The constant stream of her magic broke apart her vines which didn't make the Phantom Lord mage very happy. Seraphina took this moment as a window to attack her further.
"Flash Beam!"
A purple stream of light flashed out from Seraphina's spot in the air. Dahlia dodged easily while Seraphina slowly began to give into the demands of gravity.
"You're going to have to do better than that!"
Seraphina grinned from her current position. The angle was perfect. "And two!"
Another beam of light shot out, this time hitting Dahlia. She shouted out in pain before crashing down on the ground. On the other side of the room Seraphina had landed on her feet easily and she stared at her opponent feeling just the slightest bit offended. If Phantom Lord's elite group of wizards were this weak how the hell had they gotten such an edge over Fairy Tail?
"Dang I'm sorry I'm kicking your butt so bad!" Seraphina giggled, "It's kinda embarrassing so I won't tell any of your friends, but you need to tell me how to stop this giant. I think that's a pretty fair trade!"
Seraphina's stomach began to rumble and she scratched her head sheepishly, "Also, you wouldn't happen to have any Cinnamon rolls on this thing? Cause that would be amazing, I'm kinda hungry."
Dahlia slowly got up and narrowed her eyes. This girl was different from any other opponents she had fought before, but she wasn't worried. Seraphina Yuna and the rest of the Fairy Tail guild were going down.
She snapped her fingers and two large roses appeared at her sides. Seraphina stiffened and prepared for some form of attack. Interestingly the roses were closed, maybe something would happen once they bloomed?
"You certainly have an air of cockiness surrounding you," Dahlia proclaimed and Seraphina couldn't help but tilt her head at that, was Dahlia seriously the one talking about being cocky?
"I will admit I wasn't expecting you to be as skilled as you've shown so far, but I am a member of the superior guild, as well as the superior wizard, I refuse to lose!"
Seraphina pouted and kicked at the rubble near her feet, "So… is that a no on the Cinnamon Rolls?"
"What do you fucking think?" Dahlia deadpanned.
"It's a yes or no question, jeez meanie," Seraphina accentuated before sticking her tongue out at the Phantom Mage. "But I also know I'm gonna kick your butt! Guess I'm gonna have to focus on one thing at a time."
Dahlia's head was hung low but beneath the fringe of her ruby hair Seraphina saw a twisted smirk.
"Come and get it then."
Seraphina shrugged her shoulders and rushed forward with a proud grin, "Gladly!"
She reached the spot where Dahlia stood, but the Plant Mage jumped back quickly, narrowly avoiding Seraphina's foot.
"Disperse!"
Another snap of her fingers. Seraphina looked around confused, not quite realizing what had happened.
"What even was that spell?"
A sharp scent then reached her nostrils and Seraphina instantly felt lightheaded, this is what happened before except it was a hell of a lot stronger. The single inhale caused her to feel groggy, dazed, and confused.
She held her forehead which began pounding incessantly. This sickly sweet stench was overwhelming her. Seraphina glared to her side and saw that the roses had opened and were producing spores that surrounded her.
"Alright then, Flash B-OW!"
The purple dome that was going to destroy the roses disappeared when Seraphina found that her hands were bound by a vine. It didn't have any anti-magic properties but the pain Seraphina felt was enough to stun her into stopping her spell.
Her wrists where the vines were wrapped around had blood streaming down them as there were thorns digging in and breaking her skin. The vine wrapped around tighter and Seraphina cried out in pain once more, that really hurt.
Dahlia walked over to where Seraphina stood calmly and if not for the smell messing with her senses and motor skills Seraphina would've blasted her right where she was.
"I figured it was time I showed you why they call me Poison Ivy," Dahlia declared. Seraphina grit her teeth and attempted to kick her since she was so close, but Dahlia caught her foot before wrapping another vine around it and her other leg.
Seraphina scoffed whilst struggling under her binds, but every movement just caused the thorns to dig deeper, "Stupid sweet smelling gas isn't poison! Are you sure you're not super full of yourself? A lot of people suffer from that condition, no shame if you do too. The first step is acceptance!"
"Maybe not," Dahlia replied, "but what comes from my thorns definitely is."
A red glow surrounded the vines and Seraphina desperately tried to call on her magic to get rid of the vines but an excruciating pain raced all across her body. Her body felt as though it was burning from the inside out, thousands of needles of pain digging into her incessantly.
It seemed as if it would never end, but pretty soon the vines binding her disappeared and Seraphina collapsed. She could feel herself convulsing on the ground as her body attempted to rid itself of the poison. This was stupid, she had to get up. There was no way she was letting Dahlia defeat her this easily.
But the poison coursing through her system was immobilizing her muscles and making it hard to breathe. Not that she really wanted to anyways, the rose spore stuff was still lingering.
Dahlia smirked and grabbed Seraphina by the scalp ignoring her weak sounds of protest. She forced the Flash Mage to look at her and Seraphina grit her teeth seeing her supremely cocky expression.
"You look so pathetic now, to think you thought you could beat me," Dahlia stared in Seraphina's eyes before scoffing. She threw her head back forcefully, causing Seraphina to fall to the ground once more, and walked away. "What a bore."
"Tch, y-you haven't beat me,"
Seraphina had managed to lift herself up on her elbows and was staring up at Dahlia with malice. The poison was by no means gone, but there was also no way she was losing here. She was just going to have to push through the pain.
Dahlia turned around and raised her brow in minor interest, "Hmm, I see, you want me to kill you? Well I wasn't looking to spill blood, but if you insist…"
"I guess I just have to oblige!"
The Phantom mage turned around far too gleefully for Seraphina's liking. Almost as if she was excited to harm her further.
The ground beneath Seraphina shook, signifying where Dahlia was using her magic. Seraphina smiled as she staggered up weakly, she had this.
Several large vines grew from the ground, each one attempted to subdue Seraphina. She narrowly dodged the first couple as her senses were all sorts of messed up. However, she was starting to have rhythm again, making it far easier to dodge all of them. They were fairly large which made the evading part easy, so as long as she didn't get hit she'd be fine.
She smirked, this was her preferred fighting style anyways. Dancing around attacks and striking after her opponent had either worn themself down or had an opening was perfect for her.
Dahlia's face fell tremendously and her body trembled with anger, "How the hell are you able to move so freely! Your body should be completely full of poison right now!"
"Oh there's definitely poison!" Seraphina replied cheerfully, making sure to still pay attention to the increasing vines around her, "But I must have gotten used to it!"
"But how!"
Two vines headed straight for Seraphina from two different angles. What they left though was a slim opening for where she could rush to Dahlia from.
The green tendrils crashed into the ground where Seraphina was and Dahlia smirked, confident she had gotten her, but she blinked and a flash of purple hit her from the side.
"Hmm, must be because I'm so awesome!" Seraphina declared. She had put magic power into her kick and Dahlia was definitely feeling the effects because she was hunched over. Her eyes, a green hue far lighter than Seraphina's, glowed murderously.
"Vine Whip!"
Seraphina attempted to dodge the slashes that Dahlia sent her way, but the Phantom wizard was fighting with a whole other level of tenacity now.
"Fairy Tail can never defeat us! And I won't let you defeat me! I am a proud Phantom Lord wizard, we are the powerful shadow of the light guilds! You little fairies can't win!"
Her vine wrapped around Seraphina's arm and Dahlia wasted no time pulling at it to send the lavendette crashing into the ground below.
"Let's see how you handle a second round of poison!"
Seraphina frowned, she wasn't going to get caught in that again.
"Flash Slice!"
Her disc of light cut through Dahlia's stem and Seraphina sent an array of slices towards her in an attempt to overwhelm her.
"Vine Wall!"
Several tendrils arched up in a protective manner surrounding Dahlia. Seraphina stared at her heatedly, why was she smirking?
Dahlia flicked her finger down and Seraphina's eyes followed. At the base of her feet were a multitude of vines that she didn't even realize had materialized. She attempted to jump back but they wrapped around her legs familiar deep pricks from the thorns already making themselves known.
"Flash Beam!"
A torrent of light hit Dahlia head on. Seraphina took the opportunity to attempt to get the stupid vines off of her while she tumbled across the floor.
Dahlia jumped up quickly before moving her fist in a crushing figure. Seraphina shouted in agony as the vines surrounding her lower half tightened way more than what should have been possible.
"I'm going to pump you so full of poison it will be leaking out of your corpse!" Dahlia roared.
An inkling of fear arose in Seraphina, there was no way she could survive another one of those poison attacks. The first one nearly did her in, and she was sure Dahlia would actually make sure to finish the job this time. However, there was also no way she was going to lose, both on her legacy as a Fairy Tail wizard and for the simple fact that Phantom obviously needed to be taught a lesson.
Pushing any uneasiness to the side, Seraphina reshifted her focus. She managed to take a deep breath and look at her opponent; Dahlia was disheveled and hobbling around unbalanced. Seraphina's mind began running at lightning speed. She had been so caught up in her own wounds that she didn't even realize the pitiful state of her opponent. Dahlia was done for, all she needed to finish the job was one good hit.
"Say good night!"
"Good Morning! Flash Mob: Piercing Rays!"
Blinding flashes of light surrounded the area from Seraphina's spell. Dahlia's eyes widened before a slash burned itself into her vision making it impossible to see.
Seraphina smirked, now was her chance.
"Poison Release!"
"AGH!"
"Did you seriously think just because I can't see my poison spell wouldn't work?" Dahlia laughed crazily with her eyes still sealed shut. "You're dead!"
For the second time today Seraphina's entire body lit up in immense pain. Black spots danced in her vision and ironically enough the vines that were keeping her trapped were also the only thing holding her up. If she didn't get out of this bind soon it was over for her.
But the grip of the vines was so strong, there was no way her Flash Magic would have enough power to destroy them. There was only one way she was getting out of this, she had to defeat Dahlia, and now.
"You know Dahlia, I kinda feel sorry for you," Seraphina suddenly declared while forcing a soft laugh, wanting to seem like she was in far less pain than she actually was. "About a couple things, but mostly because you truly seem to think you are strong enough to take on Fairy Tail. We're a family, who are there for each other through it all, and I'm not letting anyone take it away from m- us!"
She laughed bitterly as she felt her magic power build up around her, "I've been in way worse pain than this, ugh, honestly I'm so dramatic I should've gotten over this sooner!"
"You see, had this been just a fight between the two of us you may have had a shot," Seraphina admitted, before taking a deep breath finding her resolve and power grow exponentially, "But Phantom made the mistake of messing with my friends and destroying my home. And now you're going to feel an ounce of Fairy Tail's pain!"
"Flash Beam: Triple Threat!"
Seraphina cast the spell and Dahlia opened her eyes just in time to see the three powerful bursts of Flash Magic head right towards her. There was no time to use her magic or effectively dodge. All that Dahlia could do as she was defeated by the light's harsh embrace was scream.
She watched somewhat smugly as Dahlia collapsed to the ground, and as soon as she did the vines surrounding her lower half disappeared. Seraphina smiled triumphantly, she had won!
But a piercing sound rang out in her head. Seraphina staggered as she attempted to straighten herself and stand up, however, her legs were too weak. Even just the constricting vines would have done enough damage but the poison coursing through her veins made it impossible to not keel over.
Seraphina teetered on her feet before her eyes fluttered, threatening to close. The floor below was starting to become way too close. Maybe a long nap was exactly what she needed.
Somewhere very far away sounding she heard footsteps and muddled voices that progressively got louder, though it was hard to hear over the ringing in her ears. It seemed as though the voices were attempting to speak to her but she couldn't respond. And as Seraphina slipped into unconsciousness she couldn't help but notice how oddly cold, and comforting, the supposed ground was.
