AN: Surprise (so I apologize in advanced as this is short but I had to break it off where I did. I'm hoping...fingers crossed... that the second part to this will be up next week.
Again I own nothing except the plot and all spelling/grammatical errors. That shit is all mine.
It had been two weeks since Ray outed Will Schuester's dirty laundry and the incident at Beth's daycare. They had pulled Beth from the facility for the time being knowing that her safety had been compromised. Noah and Ray's adopted fathers would babysit the tiny tot during the day while everyone was at school. At the moment Ray was sitting in a courtroom with Beth in her lap as she sat between her fathers listening to the closing arguments from the PA followed by the defense. It was the final day of the trial and closing arguments were being given regarding Finn's case. During the first week it was mostly spent with the defense arguing and filing motions to suppress any physical evidence against Finn along with the video footage from the security cameras. After the third day of a frivolous motion being filed the judge threatened the defense with contempt as the motions had already been denied and rewording the same ones over and over in an attempt to drag out the case was a waste of the taxpayers money and rather insulting to the courtroom. The judge had then advised the lawyer that if he felt that strongly then perhaps he should save some of his time and energy for the appeal if he is that worried he will lose the case. A small ripple of laughter had gone through the courtroom to which the judge had banged his gavel at, calling for order.
Ray had taken notice that Karosfky had shown up everyday once the court proceedings had moved forward. She had watched his face on the day that the video evidence had been played for the court. She had watched him smirk at the sucker shot Finn had given her but then his mild amusement turned to shock then disgusted anger when the events played out exactly as she had told him that day in the hallway outside the choir room. The judge had called for a short recess after the footage had been shown and Ray had left Beth with her fathers before she slipped out for an herbal knowing that she would find Karosky in the parking lot. Ray casually leaned against her Jeep and waited until the volatile football player got closer.
"Do you believe me now?" Ray asked as amusement coloured her tone.
"Yes but this doesn't mean I like you."
Ray laughed softly at the teens words.
"Oh David like I said before, I don't care if you like me or not, it doesn't matter to me. I do have one question for you. Why are you so afraid of admitting the truth to yourself? I mean I get why some hide, due to how shitty the majority opinion of this place is." Ray asked as she kept a close eye on the other teen.
David initially went an angry shade of red whether from anger or embarrassment she wasn't sure, but she wasn't going to pick at it either. Then to her surprise he took a deep breath and calmed down.
"I have admitted the truth to myself Berry." Karofsky began in a resigned tone. "I admitted my truth last year, but it doesn't stop me from being afraid."
"Look you don't have to be like Kurt to be true to yourself David. The first step in all honesty is just accepting yourself and stop making the jokes and degrading comments because all you are doing in the end is really just insulting and degrading yourself. If you haven't already, find a support group." Ray held up a hand stopping whatever argument the other teen had. "In this case a support group is just that, a group of like people who support one another. It would be your place to be free and safe to be you. This can be done online or you can go into Columbus. My point is you don't have to feel so fucking alone all the time."
"What if the football or hockey team finds out?" Karofsky asked quietly.
"Who cares if they do?" Ray asked as she exhaled smoke. "Does it stop you from being able to go toe to toe with any of them? If it comes down to it, will it stop you from going up against a few of them with my brother and I standing shoulder to shoulder with you? Just because we don't like one another doesn't mean I'll stand by as someone is bullied for their sexuality. Including you. Oh and one last thing, be careful when walking around alone at night. There have been reports of a wolf being seen lurking around in the last week or so. No one knows if it's rabid or if it's alone. Would hate for one of our best blockers to be attacked because he was unaware of what was going on."
Ray had walked away leaving Karofsky to think about everything.
"This Court will reconvene 9 am sharp Monday morning. At that time I will have made my decision." The judge banged his gavel before getting up from the bench and leaving the courtroom.
Everyone had stood up and waited until he had left the courtroom before they began exiting the room as well.
"C'mon you let's go visit with grandma and then we will go surprise Mama at school." Ray said softly to the tiny blonde in her arms. Beth squealed in happiness and clapped her hands before she began babbling away.
"You sure that's a good idea pumpkin?" Her Daddy LeRoy asked.
Ray rolled her eyes before turning and fixing him with a look that let him know that her irritation with him was running high.
"I don't give a flying eff if Finn is over there. Quinn has already stated that she wouldn't keep Carol from her own grandchild. Now as Quinn is Beth's mother, who am I to undermine her decision. Besides Carol isn't the accused now is she? She isn't the one that is named in the restraining order now is she? No, no she's not. So now if you'll excuse me I'm going to go over to Carol and visit with her so she can hold her granddaughter and have a small visit with her."
Ray walked away trying to keep her emotions in check but she was struggling. Ever since Noah had called them saying that they needed to come home, their fathers had been over protective and bordering on smothering once they were introduced to Quinn and Beth. Ray was glad and appreciative for the extra protection for her soulmate and her mate's daughter, but they were smothering Ray as well. They had flown in from Hawaii when Puck had called them once the vampires, Quinn, Beth and Brittany returned back to the Puckerman-Berry Manor.
AN 2: Oh and to the rude guest reviewer, I suggest that you create an account here, it is free after all, write a story, try writing through chronic pain where you have days that you just can't fucking move, not being able to get comfortable enough to write for extended periods of time. Then add some anxiety on top of that, cuz that's always fun to deal with, and lastly my favourite is try having a thought process that is like Squirrels at a fucking rave. Just like with a Rave, I know how my stories start and how they end, its the middle parts that are tricky because anything can happen as the tale transitions. Now multiple that by at least six stories that are all in progress so to speak, only three of which are currently posted on here. Deal with all that while writing, then get back to me about how easy it is for you. Perhaps be kind enough to share some tips of how everything is so easy for you to update at scheduled times.
