Here's a little Varian/Kenya interaction. Enjoy and thanks for reading.

Varian glared at himself in the mirror in his chambers. He hated wearing his formal royal regalia, but since he was dressing for his own engagement party, he put it all on without complaint, if for no other reason than to make sure he matched more closely with the gown Kenya would be wearing. He'd never worn a crown or any other type of jewelry or ornament in his life and he wasn't going to start now. He had to draw the line somewhere.

"Well well, don't you clean up nicely." Kenya said from the door to his chambers.

"I prefer my armor, but I guess this will do for one evening." Varian replied, turning. He was shocked into silence for several seconds by the view. "Of course, my appearance pales in comparison to you. You look stunning."

Kenya was wearing a ballgown made of gold and black silky fabric. The top was off the shoulders, showing just a small amount of cleavage. She wore a sparkling diamond necklace and her red hair was pulled up onto the top of her head, with small ringlets falling around her shoulders. She wore just the barest of makeup, allowing her natural beauty to show.

Varian took her hand and kissed it gently.

"Why have I never seen you wear this before?" Kenya asked, openingly eyeing Varian.

"Because this is the uncomfortable getup kings get to wear when they do something formal. I try to avoid formal events whenever possible. As of late, I've been too distracted with the war with the Horde and the defense of the Alliance to bother with parties. This, however, is an important party. I've been looking forward to the official announcement of our engagement and I need to at least look presentable compared to you."

Kenya stood on her toes and gave Varian a soft kiss. "Well, you are more than presentable."

Kenya smiled at Varian, but he noticed the smile wasn't her usual full smile. She had let a slightly worried look show on her face for a split second before she was able to hide it.

"What's wrong?" He asked.

Kenya sighed, taking a seat on the sofa by the fireplace in his chambers. Varian sat with her, turning to face her directly.

"I was meaning to ask this before, but then Anduin got hurt and you spent all that time on Pandaria. I just never found a good time to bring it up." She paused, taking a deep breath and letting it out slowly. "When it comes to royal engagements and marriages, are there rules when it comes to…intimacy?"

"Do you mean sex?"

"Yes." She said softly, almost like she was embarrassed.

"When it comes to relationships and royals, there usually are rules, yes. You're never alone together while courting. Physical displays of affection like kissing are reserved for after a formal engagement is announced and sex only happens after marriage."

Kenya nodded. "I figured."

"That being said, with me the rules are a bit less clear. Those rules are usually for first marriages for princes and princesses who don't actually hold a throne yet. Since I've already been married once and already have an almost adult heir, the rules don't really apply to me. Not to mention, as king, I can do what I like."

"As evidenced by how we kiss almost more than we talk."

Varian smiled down at Kenya. "Exactly. Now, as it pertains to more intimate things, I'll gladly follow your lead. Have you ever…"

"Yes, once." Kenya nodded. "When I was sixteen. The guy wasn't much older, maybe seventeen. He said he was experienced, but the act itself wasn't overly impressive. Either he was lying about his skills or sex isn't as good as people say it is."

Varian laughed full out, but pulled Kenya into a hug to show he wasn't laughing at her.

"The guy was definitely doing something wrong if you were left wondering why everyone raves about sex. I might be a little rusty, but you will not leave the room disappointed after our first time, I promise."

"Rusty?" Kenya asked.

"I haven't been with a woman since Anduin's mother."

Kenya's eyes widened. "Really? Not one?"

"I could have had many women, if I'd wanted them. My gruff personality aside, a king never has trouble filling his bed, if he so chooses. I just didn't want to sleep with some random woman who might just want to be with me, only to get the chance to be a queen. Or to maybe get pregnant so they would be brought into royal life. As a king, it's hard to tell if a woman likes you for you and not for the title and power you bring with you."

"That is until you proposition a woman you barely know who you saw only for a moment, right before a battle." Kenya joked.

"Exactly. Besides, I was so busy with raising Anduin and the continued responsibility of managing the Alliance and Stormwind, I really didn't have time to deal with a woman who didn't like me for me. When I saw you, I thought there might just be a chance I found someone I'd like to get to know better. It was just pure luck you granted me the honor."

"You sound a little like Anduin. I guess that's where he gets it."

"Or I get it from him. Hard to say. I'm just happy I found you and happy to have you agreeing to be my queen. I know you're reluctant, but you'll be a wonderful Queen of Stormwind."

"So I've been told. By everyone."

Varian laughed. "You should listen, since everyone is right."

Varian stood, offering Kenya his hand. "Shall we get to our party, My Lady?"

Kenya took his hand and allowed him to pull her to her feet. "We shall. Though, I feel I must warn you, I might not want to stay all night. After this conversation, I think there are things I'd like to be doing with you other than dancing."

Varian bowed slightly. "As my future queen wishes."
