I am here with another new chapter! I meant to post this on Thanksgiving but I was caught up in a lot of things such as preparing a Thanksgiving meal with Dad For our family and for a group of his friends, and getting through with a few things that needed to be done ages ago. Enjoy!
To say that they were not expecting any more surprises until at least after lunch would probably be an understatement.
After Recovery girl got a sample of Izuku's DNA, The blonde, the black, the greenette and the hybrid all made their way over to the cafeteria to get a much-needed meal in while Cementoss, who turned down the offer as he already ate earlier, went to go finish setting up the student paperwork for literature arts.
Around this time it was when Izuku was coming down from her exciteful mood as this allowed her to ponder on everything they had learned so far.
The possibilities of what these powers could do and how many she was able to wheel was just phenomenal in its own right, flight, super strength on varying levels, superpowered weapons, who knows what other abilities she may be capable of doing? The sheer possibilities of what she might also be capable of seem limits.
The day just got more and more surprising, intriguing and exciting with each passing minute.
All her life she had wanted to be able to experience what it was like to have special powers just like everybody else, to know what it feels like (any semblance would suffice), to say she basically got a jack of all trades because of an incident that happened on a beach she was cleaning would probably be accurate.
Don't get her wrong She still had full intention of inheriting All Might quirk, She still had full intentions of Carrying on his legacy and working to become a hero in her own right, though It will be interesting to see what the next couple of months will bring before the entrance exam because of this and how these powers will interact with OFA later on.
Obviously she'll now need to train these powers before she can focus back on her OFA training, after all it would be way too risky to put to powers that haven't been trained yet into the same body with it, that's just asking for severe property damage, black listing, dire medical attention or even an early grave.
I know that sounds extreme but you cannot argue that these probabilities are very likely to happen with untrained hands.
Perhaps she could probably convince Mr. Yagi to let her use her newfound powers to test to see how fast she can get more of the cleanup done on the beach? That would definitely save her time and preparation (even if only by a small margin, it may even give her more time to practice using All Might's quirk before the due date).
No, she wasn't shirking work, she's just expanding the possibilities on how she can get more work done by using these new powers, she's still going to train, she knew that she had to keep training to get stronger so that she could catch up with everybody else, quirk, powers or no She wasn't going to get lazy or cocky.
But there was still something that was bothering her... okay two things actually though the former might be manageable.
First was that She knew she needed to have an explanation on why she got these powers so suddenly to her classmates when she got back to school, Especially as she was a teenager and it should be rather impossible for someone to manifest their quirk around this time.
Although that was not exactly true, there were reports on rare instances where people manifested their quirks late, mostly when they were still kids but definitely older than the age of four, and there were even some instances where people had manifested their quirks when they were in their teenage years, though that's more rare, especially also if it's someone who's in their adult age but usually around their early twenties (But again that was a bigger rarity in its own right).
She could definitely use that to evade problematic questions she'd rather avoid.
Perhaps she could convince Recovery girl to give her a medical report to show proof that, medically speaking, she did have a "quirk", by pretending that the power she had gained was a quirk that had manifested and just needed the right requirements to have it manifest.
It was not uncommon for certain quirks to need a specific way to make themselves known, Even in a way that was either unorthodox, dangerous, highly unlikely, insane, or even Just plain silly.
She had been researching quirks for years and she knew that there was reports on such quirks like these and she knew them all by heart so she could use those to back her up.
Honestly yes she knew it would be lying given how she obtained those powers, and she never liked lying no matter how many times she had done it to keep her mom from worrying more then she already had, but it was the only way to ensure that no one got suspicious nor did anything drastic because of this.
Hopefully with this her classmates would finally leave her alone and the teachers would actually intervene a little more in regards to students picking on her, even if only a little, it would be more than enough for her.
Although trying to mend her relationship with Bakugo was definitely out of the question knowing that no matter if she had gained a quirk or if she remained quirkless, he would always still hate her, and she had a feeling that he still wouldn't want to be her friend after what she had said to him in the classroom month's back.
That ship had sailed and she... she knew he was toxic, and she was better off cutting ties with him.
Though if anything, these powers will probably surprise him and possibly, No most likely, make him angry and he'd demand answers from her, she honestly didn't know if she can trust herself to be able to not break in front of him in trying to explain, and somewhere deep down she had a feeling that even if she said something he probably wouldn't believe her and would probably think that she even lying and hiding her powers all this time when really that's not the case and never was.
That and it doesn't change the fact that what she told him months ago was... awful, Even if he was leaving her alone now that doesn't change the fact that he might snap at any time, Just because he's resorted to glaring at her now, doesn't change the fact that he still greatly despised her.
'I mean sure What I said may have sounded harsh but it needed to be said to get that jerk to back off already, He deserves it, He'll always be a villain no matter how heroic his quirk may seem to others because his attitude is absolutely horrible.' A thought crossed her mind as this made her stop briefly in her train of thinking.
'Where did that come from?' She wondered to herself as she knew she wasn't thinking that, I mean sure she knew that he was absolutely not nice to her and with the current attitude that he has she knew that he would be at risk of blowing his own chances of getting into a hero school (even if their middle school teachers would try to hide that to increase his chances), but the way that thought came out in terms of tone was... Rather cruel and out of nowhere to her.
Nothing came to mind as It didn't really sit well with her but she chose to put that on the back burner for the time being (as she'll try to figure this part out later) and focus on the second issue at hand, which was arguably more pressing.
How did she even know how to use her abilities (with only flight needing some trial and error) without needing the teachers to help any further than they already had done in the gym? Why did it feel natural to know any of this knowledge on how to wheel them properly? Why did it seem like these powers already came with a set of mental instructions that would be readily available to her at any moment? And most importantly... where did these powers even come from? Were they from another world altogether (even if that sounded insane by itself) or were they a manifestation of somebody else's quirk or were they created it in a lab?
There were just too many questions and not enough answers for her to the point that she groaned a bit as she rubbed her head to try and soothe the rising headache.
"Everything all right kid?" Aizawa asked her as he and the others noticed this with concern as he asked what Toshinori was about to ask her.
"Yeah," She told him, "Just an overload of questions as too much has happened in a single day, We don't have enough answers to all of this and Even the thought of the whole thing is headache inducing."
"I don't blame you, it could partially be because you're hungry but on a big majority of that, we understand what you mean." He told her as He gave her a brief pat on the back.
"We all feel the same way Ms. Midoriya, though I wouldn't let it go to your head if I were you, undoubly we will figure it all out in time but for now we should focus on the present and tackle each problem one at a time so to not overwork or overstress ourselves." The principal told her in reassurance.
"They are both right, it's much like how a kid first manifests their own quirk, they're not going to be able to know every single bell and whistle to it, Even if some on an occasion come with a set of some mental instructions to know how to use them in particular ways right off the bat, until they actually get practice in and work hard in learning more on what possibilities could be achieved with them. And learning more about them One day at a time. For all of us we just need to take it at our own pace. Does that make sense?" Toshinori told her as She smiled at him as she nodded.
"You have a good point, taking things at our own pace is a much better idea than trying to rush into it no matter how much I want to learn everything about these powers I have right now." She replied as everybody else nodded in agreement.
Though this moment of clarity was interrupted quite rudely by her stomach grumbling yet again in an impatient manner Which made her both blush in embarrassment and glare at her stomach angrily mentally telling it that it wasn't helping anyone.
Aizawa rolled his eyes at this although he did have an amuse smile which was hidden underneath his capture scarf, while The number one hero and the principal both chuckled at this.
Thankfully the gang was nearing the cafeteria which was a big relief for her as this allowed her to calm down.
She was so hungry She could eat a horse.
Upon opening the doors the scent of something sweet caught her nose as this made her mouth water and her eyes sparkle.
So much so that she didn't even notice that she had subconsciously touched her compact and swapped into her pink form and flew over to the source of the delicious sweet smell, not realizing she had startled the others by doing so.
Upon entering the kitchen she saw the very thing that had attracted her.
Indeed her nose hadn't lied to her, it was a cake, and a beautifully decorated one to boot.
It was a triple layer cake with white as the main color scheme of frosting with flowers made out of light pastel yellow frosting, some golden candy edible pearls here and there, and at the very top of the cake laying on top of a lone frosting made flower was a white macaroon with yellow filling in the center Which match the other ones that were lining all around the cake at the bottom.
She wasn't in there alone, no in this kitchen was none other than The Cooking hero Lunch rush, who is not only a hero but also worked as one of the staff members at UA and was a Master Chef.
"Ah, It seems I've attracted a fellow sweet lover, My latest masterpiece drew you in huh?" The Hero asked her amusingly as the girl nodded eagerly as the others came barging into the kitchen to see what was going on only to be relieved to see that nothing was wrong.
Although ...
"Ah, hello everyone," Lunch rush greeted them with a (not visible) smile, "Did y'all come here to try my latest masterpiece? Or was it because you were worrying about this little lady?"
"That would be the latter, Although I must say that your latest cake definitely looks like a real prize winner." Nezu told him before he turned back to the girl, "Although it was curious to see her react like this all because she smelled something sweet being made, I only have to guess that she isn't the type to act like this."
"I've spent a little over half a year with her, and in all the time that I've spent I know for a fact that she doesn't have a sweet tooth and she rarely ever has anything sugary sweet, especially given the diet plan that I gave her for her training." Toshinori told them in concern which, upon hearing her mentor in this manner, made the greenette snap out of it.
Looking back at the group and at the scene around her she immediately showed a look of deep disbelief and embarrassment upon realizing what had happened.
"I'M SO SORRY!!" She squeaked in shame as She landed back on the ground, "I didn't mean to scare you guys like that! I had no idea what I was doing! The very moment I smelled something sweet I didn't even know my mind just went into autopilot almost like it had a mind of its own! I don't even know where that came from! I'm so sorry!"
Everybody took the time to calm her down and ensure her that everything was all right and ensure her that no harm was done before she was finally able to relax a bit and actually be able to look back at her teachers in the eyes, though she was still a little bit red in the face with embarrassment from what happened.
But this did bring up a good question.
"But why did I even act like that in the first place? It makes no sense." Izuku asked aloud as she crossed her arms, "That's never happened to me before. It was almost as if-."
"-As if you had another personality in you all together." Nezu spoke as He stated more than questioned which made Izuku turn to him, the same with the others.
"Sir are you implying that...?" Toshinori asked, still confused, as the principal nodded as he replied:
"It's entirely possible that these new powers also came with a split personality, or given the fact that she has three different forms, she must have more than one kind of personality besides her own, Also if I had to wager I would have to say that depending on the circumstances each part of these personalities will pop up at any given time Even though she'll still remain as herself, it's safe to assume that with this pink form she has a sweet tooth."
Izuku blinked at this in disbelief.
Multiple personalities. Her?
Without acknowledging it, she touched her compact again and she swapped back to her blue form as, with everyone's attention on her, she replied, "I mean it's kinda like a reversible jacket, because like me it can switch between one side to the other without issue, but only if said jacket could have 3 sides to it instead of just two And every side of it would look similar though they would be different in one particular way If not by just color alone."
She then snapped out of it as she blinked, realizing what she just said in surprise.
Yep, definitely another personality, because even though she's made analogies before she has never made a clothes related one before and she had a strong feeling that the blue form was into fashion.
And here she thought she couldn't be any more surprised today then what's happened so far, she has again been dealt with another wave of shock before the day is even done.
At least she didn't do anything embarrassing this time.
It did make sense as it would explain why she acted like she did moments ago, and unquestionably the train of thought she had earlier in the hall had to be because of this, but one thing was still rather disconcerting though.
"While that does make sense, I mean it has to and we should not disregard that confirmed fact, yet... I feel like I've been thrown into the world of Alice in wonderland because I feel like my world's been thrown off kilter." She told them in concern, "I've never even had a split personality let alone multiple different personalities before, Quirked or not."
In the world of quirks generally anything was possible, and yes there was such a thing as sentient quirks where they had a mind of their own, and yes that also included some even coming with their own split personality or two.
But when it came to those particular kinds of quirks they were rather tricky in terms of adjusting to it. As a child it would be easier to manage even though there will be some time needed to get used to it, If those particular quirks manifested in late bloomers, it would get even trickier (to put it simply) and can especially lead to that person having a harder time trying to keep things straight let alone adjust accordingly.
And even those who do not have a split personality quirk but instead had their mentality change in some manner or another because of their quirks, they too have dealt with trying to make adjustments in their lives and getting accustomed to the new facets about them, both the good and the bad.
And this in particular can be both stressful and difficult trying to manage both for the person who has the quirk and for the people around them.
And It wasn't hard to see that the others understood her plight, Especially as they felt sorry for her as she already had enough to deal with as it was, while earlier it was kind of exciting, to know that she would probably have to deal with a semi personality crisis on her hands was worrisome as who knows what these new personalities would come with.
She was brought down from her Cloud of concern and uncertainty as she felt a hand on her left shoulder before she looked up to see that it was Mr. Yagi who gave her a reassuring smile as he told her:
"It's Alright young Midoriya, we'll figure this out together. So you do not have to worry about trying to figure it out all by yourself, Even if there may be some things that you'll be able to understand without an issue while there are others that you'll have difficulty trying to comprehend, we'll help you in any way we can."
Everyone else nodded agreement when she turned to each one of them, even Lunch rush nodded even though he didn't exactly understand what was going on entirely though he had a feeling that it had something to do with her quirk.
She felt some of the pressure leave her shoulders as she smiled back at them and nodded before she thanked them.
But again the moment was ruined by the loud grumbling and roaring of her stomach as this made her blush even worse than last time and made her rather infuriated as she, This time with awareness, touched the compack and shifted into her green form as she glared at her stomach and practically screamed:
"QUIT RUINING THE MOMENT YOU NOISY ORGAN!"
This comedically made everybody laugh.
Because not only was this reaction rather hilarious.
But This allowed them to see that The green form obviously had a bit of a temper, though the way she was displaying it right now was funny.
Much to her relief though This allowed Lunch rush, who understood now why they were there in the first place, to come in and tell them that he would be more than happy to make all of them lunch.
And given the fact that Izuku now had a sweet tooth due to the split personality, he promised that he would allow her to be the first person to try a slice of his newest creation only if she promised to give him a review of his latest work and do so only after she ate a properly healthy meal beforehand in return, which she happily accepted.
And thankfully the Lunch and the dessert (With a small helping of seconds that he graciously offered) that he provided was more than enough to satisfy her vocally hungry stomach.
Done!
I was actually kind of wrestling with what to do with this particular chapter, I knew what I was going to do for the next chapters after but for this one I was having a bit of writer's block, next to the fact that I was busy the past couple of days with other things. But I'm glad I was able to get this done in the end.
I hope this wasn't boring or anything.
I'm planning to at least post maybe three or four more before getting back to my other stories.
Please share your thoughts in the reviews and tell me what you think.
Until next time, TTFN!!
