...
After that morning it became a common occurrence to see him practicing with Kavar. They both had mornings free of normal duties and it allowed them to fall into a routine. Practice, meditate, eat breakfast, meditate some more, then patrol the conclave. Day in and day out it was the same.
Routine was good for recovering his mental stability. It allowed him to rebuild his broken mental shields and strengthen them to the point they were before the Mandalorian Wars. The only issue with rebuilding his shields was having to re go through the memories.
Through the memories he had to face his actions. The memories of Duxon had nearly sent him into a catatonic state. It was then that Kavar found him feeling his distress through the Force. It wasn't just the Master who felt his distress apparently the entire enclave felt it. Only due to his closeness to Kavar allowed him to track Lukas to the dark corner. Quiet, gentle reassurances and gentle touches to his shoulders and back brought him back from the brink.
Kavar of course had wanted to know what brought him to such a state. Lukas could only shake his head and sink deeper into himself. This in turn earned a sigh of acceptance. Then he was pulled up to his feet and taken to the man's quarters. With a gentle prod in the force sent him into sleep.
When he came back to the world of the living he found that a cold pack had been placed on his forehead and that he was lying on the man's couch. A simple but warm blanket lay over the top of him. He could sense Kavar's muted presence in the next room. No doubt he was asleep given that it looked dark outside.
So he snuck out after folding the blanket and sticking the cold pack back in the freezer. Over the next few days he avoided Kavar rather than continuing the routine they had built up. Being back in this time had been nice once he was sure they didn't know the truth. As nice as it was to see his friends who had died in the wars he knew he couldn't just keep putting off making a plan for the future.
War was coming to the Republic. If he kept putting it off they would completely destroyed. Or there would be a second running of Revan and his followers. The wars had to be stopped.
So he built up plans and proof of what was to come into a data pad. Remembering the tactics taught to him by Revan he added them. Battle plans that they would have been unable to think of themselves but could save many planets and trillions of lives.
A week of avoiding Kavar allowed him to to get it ready. When he did Lukas found himself in one of the communication rooms. Carefully he sealed the room so that he wouldn't be disturbed. Only a member of the Jedi Council would be able to access the room.
Then he opened the communication with Admiral Cede of the Republic Army. It took a few moments but the connection was solidified and an older man appeared on screen. He had a little more hair than the padawan remembered. There were less lines on his face and he looked far easier going than the one who wanted to capture Lukas.
When he saw who was contacting him Cede frowned deeply. He tried to look behind Lukas looking for a master. Only to be confused further when he didn't find one.
Lukas greeted politely and bowed his head, "Admiral Cede thank you for taking my call. I understand this is an unusual situation."
It only took a few seconds for the man to reply, "It most certainly is. It's not everyday I get a call from Dantooine and never from a young padawan or Knight."
The unasked question hung in the air between them. Not answering the question was impossible. If he tried then Cede would end their call thinking it a prank.
Lukas answered easily, "My name is Lukas Lambert. I am a padawan currently without Master though I regularly train with Jedi Master Kavar. I am contacting you because I had a vision. One of the future of the Repblic."
That had the Admiral stiffening. Lukas now had his entire attention. Now to give his carefully constructed lie.
"A few weeks ago," he began, "I went missing from the Enclave. I went to meditate away from the presence of the others. Something was calling to me through the Force. So I went to meditate where I couldn't be disturbed. What I was shown."
A shudder went through him. Screams of pain that wasn't his own echoed through him. The feeling of all those he served beside were suddenly lost. A memory of Malachor V.
With some difficulty he pushed it to the side and he continued, "The Mandalorians will attack the Republic. They are already attacking world not officially affiliated with the Republic. I'm sending information on their attacks and tactics now."
A few moment of tinkering with the machine he did send the data. At first Cede had looked at him in disbelief but he still read through the information. As time passed worry began to fill him that Cede wouldn't believe him.
Then his expression shifted from disbelief to fear. He turned way from the holomonitor to call over his shoulder. An aide appeared on screen and soft words were exchanged. Lukas didn't interrupt instead waiting on the Admiral's judgement.
After about five minutes the aide left with a datapad and Cede returned his attention to Lukas, "We will look into this immediately but I have to ask. Why come to me? Why not just hand the information to the Council?"
Lukas bowed his head as he replied, "The Council means well but they won't help. They see a bigger threat that comes after the Mandalorians. But if something isn't done Jedi will defy them and aid you. Only to fall to the darkness that is inside us all. We re many things Admiral Cede but we are not infallible. I don't want to see my visions come true."
:I don't want to see all my friends die again,: he thought, :I don't want to see Revan and Alek fall again. There is good in them, kindness too. War would only make them lose it.:
A knock on the door brought his attention to the world around him. Shit it seems his time was up.
As if sensing this Cede said, "Go. When will you make contact again? We will have more questions."
Lukas bit his lip as he thought about it and the banging on the door grew louder. He replied, "I'll try to contact you in a week."
"Talk to you then. I'll be sure that your messages are sent straight through," he replied.
