It had been two weeks since Lena had become the Head of Scientific Development at the DEO – two wonderful weeks. She could still hardly believe how easily she had found her place and how great a team she had. Her initial concerns of facing skepticism or even overt hostility had been dispersed the moment she'd finished her welcome speech. The entire team had toaster their new boss and was excited for all the good they could do together.
Lena was just crunching some more data for a project, when Jonn entered her lab.
"Hey, Jonn", Lena smiled, looking around when she heard the door hiss.
He smiled in return, "Hi, Lena. I hear you've been here since the crack of dawn."
"Yeah, that's true", Lena said excitedly. "I had an idea late last night and couldn't really sleep and so I thought why wait when I'm awake anyway?"
He nodded, "Fair. And did that idea of yours work out?"
Lena frowned a bit, "Well, I don't quite know yet but it's not looking too bad. I just need more time."
"What you also need", Jonn said, wagging his finger and smiling, "is a break and some fresh air. Come on, let's go and get a coffee."
She chuckled and stretched, "That is the best idea I've heard all morning."
As Lena and Jonn were approaching the lounge, she noticed that the area seemed to be unusually busy for this time of day. Lena was just about to mention this to Jonn when Nia calling her name made her stop and turn around.
Nia came hurrying down the atrium, panting slightly, "Hey, Lena, hold up for a second."
"What's wrong, Nia? Did something happen?" Lena said worriedly, taking a few steps back towards her friend.
Nia stopped with a wide smile on her face, "Nope, not at all. In fact", she took Lena by the shoulders and turned her around, "everything is finally as is should be."
Lena frowned but smiled confusedly, "What?"
And then she saw that all her family, Kara, Alex, Jonn, Brainy and Kelly were standing there, smiling at her. Nia gently pushed her forward until Lena was only a few steps away from the others.
"What is this?" she asked suspiciously, her eyebrow going up.
Jonn stepped forward, "Two weeks ago you became part of the DEO and now, finally, that will be made officially visible." His hands sketched quotation marks around the last two words.
Lena tilted her head, not following.
Then there was a gentle gust of wind and Jonn announced, "Our gallery is finally complete."
When her eyes followed his outstretched arm, she gasped. Lena's portrait had been added to the gallery depicting the The Foundation Pillars of the New DEO.
