Chapter Ten – Bonfire Night

Tom had been caught with weed but Allan said they was hardly anything. Since Tom had never got into trouble with the police before and because of his age he got off lightly. But Tom had detention and was grounded. Where Tom got the weed from no one knew – Tom just said he thought it was a year Eleven – but wasn't too sure. Allan was mad at his brother and even more when he found out Tom stole money from him to buy the weed in the first place and even more when Allan also nearly got grounded as well.

"I'm not being funny but Tom is a nightmare I tell ya," said Allan "And he's not even a teenager yet….."

"Who would have thought it, you are the well behave one….." comment Much barely believing it himself. Allan had always been a trouble maker more so than Robin. At least Robin had slightly more common sense than Allan. Allan was the kid who would play pranks on anyone and was also the one who would steal pens from the teacher desks in primary school. Allan who had been known for shoplifting sweets from the local corner shop – the owner won't let Allan back inside even then he was nine when he took the sweets.

Will and Luke found themselves in more drama. Sheriff come up to the outlaw table at Lunch looking mad "You're dad better not sue mine," said Sheriff to Will "But even if he did – he would lose…" Will didn't react to this taut – he didn't even look up. "You know I saw the CCTV of the accident….It was funny….I watched it over and over and over…" this made Will react at once - Will went to attack Sheriff but John quickly got hold of the back of Will's Jumper to hold him back. John knew the last thing Will needed was to be in detention again. Sheriff laughed and walk off.

"What's that about?" asked John

"There is an invagination into dad's accident." Said Will grumpily – he still didn't like talking about it at all. And the other noticed his mood was low at the moment. The Black Knights had made a few jokes about his dad being captain hook and asking Will if he needed a spare hand. Luke had got into a fight because of this as well – lucky a teacher never saw that one.

"Will he have to go to court?" asked Robin

Will shrugged a little "What the point?" he asked "It's not like he will get a fair trial. And we can't afford a lawyer anyway…" Robin was about to protest but thought better of it. He didn't know how this all worked.

"There are doing a firework display on the common on Saturday," said Much changing the subject "I reckon we should go….."

"I think that is a good idea," said Djaq at once seeing what Much as doing.

"I'm in as long as I don't have to be with Tom." Said Allan

…..

John's mother like to feed people. And if she didn't know how to help she would cook. She was forever giving food to neighbours and people at church. And today she had spent most of the day it seem cooking food for the Scarlets. "Their aunt had to go back last week and they need some home cook meals….." she had said and John had the job of taking the food to them – that wasn't an easy job to do with a bike.

Once John had reach the flats he here a voice "What you doing here?" John turned to see Will coming back from his paper round.

"Mum sending over food," said John "I think she made enough for an army…she likes to feed people…and you were on her list…"

"Tell her thanks," said Will knowing better than to refuse. "Do you want to come in? Mind the mess…"

Will and John enter the flat. It was messier than normal with the washing was half done. "Dad's resting in bed," said Luke who was watching TV eating a packet of crisp.

"Mrs Little made some food," said Will and he and John start to put it in the fridge. John noticed it was basically empty – but he didn't comment on it. He was glade he could bring over some food and be somewhat helpful. Will read the carefully written labels on the containers "Want Vegetable Curry?" he called to his brother.

"Sure," yelled Luke

Will went to check on his dad before coming back. Will put the food in the microwave. "You can stay and have something to eat…. There is too much for us three….." Will got out four bowls and four spoons then putting the kettle on and make a cup of coffee and brought it in for his father then back again. Will then served the curry into the bowls going back to his father to give him one and then he, John and Luke all watched the soup that the currently one.

John left soon after. Realising that Will was currently looking after his father who may be well enough to leave the hospital but still needed a lot of support and looking after his brother as well as himself.

….

Djaq was sorting thought one of the boxes they yet to unpack and dug around in it till she found her gloves. Winter was getting closer and she felt like she might need them soon. She phone rang she looked to see it was Much.

"Hello," said Djaq pressing the phone to her ear.

"Oh hi," said Much – Djaq could hear rustling from the other end of the line. "I been thinking about the fireworks….." said Much specking fast "I could cook everyone some jacket potatoes before we go…..it meant to be traditional….you know jacket potatoes on bonfire night….."

"That's sounds good," said Djaq

"Great," said Much sounded delighted "I make either cheese and beans filling or tuna…..or both…or something else….."

"They sound good Much," said Djaq lightly "I am sure everyone else would be happy with it as well…"

"Something going to go wrong – something always goes wrong….." said Much before he hanged up without a goodbye.

Djaq put down her phone "I have to meet these friends of yours," come Djaq father voice. "From what you tell me there are a colourful brunch…"

"You want to scare them. You always scare my friends….." said Djaq shanking her head "It's like a game to you…I will invite them over at some point…."

"Soon," said her father before he walked into his study.

The school week carried on slowly. Allan was still mad at Tom for the stunt be pulled at the Halloween party especially now most of the school knew about it. Allan could hold grudges of a long time.

The Black Knight kept trying to start fights almost every day. They got more of a reaction from Will at the moment so mainly try to wind him up. But their target all of the outlaws.

"This is getting ridicules," comment Much once lunch time as he narrow missed an apple that was aimed at his head "This is getting out of hand…."

"They get bored soon," said Robin at once nursing his hand.

"We are so lucky we haven't been caught yet," carried on Much with his rant. "They might try to expel us! I don't think that's a good idea…maybe we should not get into may more fights….. we are the important last two years of school….what will six form or collage think….if all we do is get into fights…."

Robin rolled his eyes "Stop worrying so much, anyway saying the stuff they say then need someone to knock some sense into them…."

"Sooooo," said Robin as he and Much turn and walked down the corridor "Who having jacket potatoes at your?"

Much signed "You, Djaq and John," said Much at once "Roy is going down again and he will want something to eat but will say he doesn't like it. Allan will be at the fireworks but doesn't know about tea yet and Will said no to the potatoes and I don't know about the fireworks yet….but all that might change…."

"Great can't wait….." Robin felt like a big kid again and felt the excitement growing inside him. He couldn't wait for the weekend.

On Saturday Roy come back down and was staying with John again. John and Roy spend most of Saturday afternoon playing the X-Box. "Why didn't they do the fireworks yesterday on the 5th like it meant to be?" asked Roy "They used to do it on the 5th every year without fail…."

"Don't asked me, it's the council that makes decisions like that…." said John in a grunt.

"It's stupid," stated Roy in a huff. But it was most likely be was in a bad mood because he kept losing against John. "So, when are we going to see good old munchies….."

"And interrupted his cooking?" asked John. When it comes to cooking Much was an perfectionist. And could get short tempted when cooking. Much was no fun when he was annoyed by people. Roy knew how to wind Much up – and did so all the time even when he didn't mean too. John thought it was best not to go around Much's until he was almost done with the cooking, to save his own sanity more than anything else

"That is a point," said Roy "Well, can we go and see Lavender boy? I am fed up with being coped up all day…"

John and Roy made the way to Robin's house. Robin wasn't there but after a quick chat with Robin's dad they went down toward the basketball court in the nearby park.

Robin was in a middle of a fight with Gisborne and another of the black knights. Without a work John and Roy went to help Robin right away throwing in their own punches when they can.

"What the heck?" asked Roy pushing one of the black knights back "You are still a dickhead aren't you?"

"Guy – it's not worth it," said another Black Knight "Yet go before the others showed up…."

Gisborne straighten himself up looked at Robin "This isn't over," he said before he walked away his head still held high. Robin watch them go and before they exit the park he wave at them grinning.

"You better keep walk," called out Roy after them. Then he turn to Robin "Staying out of trouble I see."

"He started it," said Robin at once

"What happen?" asked John reframing himself from shaking his head at his friend.

Robin stuffed his hands into his pockets "His upset that Marian was talking to me at the Halloween party," said Robin "Bet he was the one who pulled the fire alarm – it makes sense…..I hate him….."

"Some things never change," mumble Roy to himself.

….

Much enjoying cooking and making a meal for his friends made him feel good at something. He knew he wasn't as smart at his friends or as good at sports. But he could cook better than them any day.

Allan was the first to arrive – "You don't know how happy I am too see you," said Allan as he walked in and kicked off his shoes.

"Are you feeling alright?" asked Much with a frown. Much was something unsure if Allan actually liked him or just out up with him because their friends with Robin and the others. They didn't really hang out without the others.

"You are better than my brother," said Allan "He's going to get arrested again….."

"You got arrested when you where his age….." pointed out Much

Allan rolled his eyes "Just for small shoplifting stuff…And I don't do that anymore. Tom is going over the top…and he won't listen to me…so if he get arrested it's he own damn fault."

Much didn't not to question Allan further about Tom. "Do you know if Will coming to the fireworks?" he asked

Allan shrugged a little "I think if he comes it be a last minute thing, I reckon his dad is still pretty ill so he wants to make sure he's alright….." much nodded his head this make sense to him, "And the other will be here soon…"

Djaq was the next to arrive. "Smells lovely," she said as she walked inside, "What filling have you gone for then?"

"Well," said Much "There is beans and cheese, tuna mayo and vegetable chilli….so they should be something for everyone."

"What are you doing feeding the five thousand?" teases Djaq

Robin arrived with John and Roy and they all got there food "I missed you're cooking," said Roy "That's the only thing I missed about you….."

"Well, I haven't missed you at all," claimed Much – everyone laughed. Much was a terrible liar.

….

They made it to the fireworks about half an hour before they were due to go off already a large crowd of people had gathered around. "Got hold of Will yet?" asked Robin as Allan and Djaq were both trying to call and text him.

"No luck," said Allan stuffing his phone back into his pocket.

"I going to buy a hot dog," said Robin eyeing one of the food vans parked nearby.

"You just have two jacket potato." Said Much sounding very offended by Robin's remark.

Robin just grinned "What can I say? I am a growing boy…" walking off

"I can't believe him….I really can't believe him….." mumble Much to himself. No one heard him as Allan phone started to ring and Allan picked it up at once.

"Where the heck are you?" asked Allan "You got a phone use it…." Allan looked at his friends and mouthed Will's name. "Excuses, excuse…We're near the food trucks, you're be able to find us because Much is complaining again….. yeah yeah just hurry up…." Allan hanged up his phone.

"I take it he is coming." Said Djaq

"Yeah he's coming," said Allan "He had some kind of reaction to something last night. But he said it was nothing serious and didn't need to go to hospital….So he biking here with Luke so he must be fine…."

"Good luck finding a place to lock the bikes up," said Roy

Will and Luke arrived five minutes before the fireworks were due to go off. "I haven't missed that much have I?" asked Will

"You missed spending a day with me," said Roy at once "I am hurt you haven't missed me more….."

Then the countdown to the firework began everyone started to get excited. 5….4…3…2….1 they all watched the fireworks take to the sky cheering loudly.
