"Nurse! Anyone! I need help, quick! My friend's been injured!"

Jaune Arc yelled as he barged into the Atlas Academy medical rooms, while carrying a pass out Blake Belladonna on his arms. The cat Faunus looked beaten up badly, but it was mostly from her face. And her clothes were covered in dirt as it looked like she was brutally tackled. What's even worse is that she's all bloody.

An Atlesian nurse approached to the two. "What happened to her?"

"Look, my friend here was badly beaten up by a Beowulf. Can you please help her?" Jaune talked so fast, that he really sounded worried.

"Don't worry, we'll get her patched up in no time, in the meantime, go tell wait by the hallway outside, and we'll call you when you're ready. Okay?" the nurse instructed.

Jaune nodded, he wanted to stay and watch Blake if she's okay, but knowing Atlas, he just followed. He can't have a fight right now while his friend is badly injured.

"Place her on the bed, and wait outside." The nurse said, as Jaune gently placed Blake on the bed, and left. "I got an injured Huntress who got beaten badly by a Beowulf. I need an ice pack, bandages, and a saline bag now!"

When it comes to people that are in danger, Jaune won't hesitate to save them in a nick of time, since it's what Huntsman does all the time, aside from beating and killing Grimm that they saw or encounter. However, when it comes to people that he knew, then he acts fast to save them and wastes no time.

Why?

Because they mattered to him, in many ways. Jaune already lost Pyrrha once and he doesn't want to make the suffer the same thing that he experienced once. But of course, he doesn't want to remember it at all.

He just can't.

Cause he knew that losing someone that he knew that's close to him will be harder enough to get over on. And it will be a painful process.

"Mr. Arc, your friend is all better now. Although, she is still asleep. You can stay over and watch her while her team gets back." The same nurse said as the blonde knight stood up and walked his way into Blake's room.

He remembered how it all started.

Team RWBY and NPR are working together to stop a horde of Beowulves coming their way to the city Mantle. As some are attacking the Beowulves from reaching the city, there are some, especially Jaune and Blake, who are defending the entrance in case if they missed some of them.

"How did this even happen?!" Jaune said, as he swinged Crocea Mors onto a Beowulf's leg, and chopped it's head off afterwards. "I thought this place outside the city is free from Grimm."

"It could be something that alerted its attention to get here." Blake responded, using the sheath of her Gambol Shroud to kill another that's after her. "They're even stronger as they – Look out!"

Jaune turned around, to see a Beowulf pounce on him. Immediately, Jaune used his shield to block it, but the Beowulf had the upper ground and pin him down with it's force. Blake's right, they are stronger unlike before.

Immediately, Jaune used all of his force and pushed the Beowulf away with his shield. And while it's caught off guard, he killed the Beowulf by landing his sword on its head.

Meanwhile, Blake was dealing with two Beowulves, and somehow, they both surrounded the cat Faunus. She used Gambol Shroud's sheath, and her gun-forming-katana to fight them off. Luckily, she was able to block their attacks with both of her weapons combined. She dealt with one Beowulf in a second as she used her Shadow Semblance to create an ice version of herself that froze the Beowulf's hands, right after it was killed by Blake.

However, in a split second, her abdomen was slashed by the other Beowulf.

Jaune saw this and yelled. "BLAKE!"

As he rushed his way to reach her in time, Blake was being tackled by the Beowulf as it began to stun her with it's claws, wanting to make suffer painfully and not die instantly.

However, she was lucky as Jaune made it in time and killed the Beowulf by stabbing it with his sword. The blonde knight knelt down as he checked on her. "Blake, are you okay?! Say something!"

Instead, Blake suddenly passed out, due to the claw mark on her abdomen, which did a pretty big number to her.

"Blake!"

The memory ended. He felt like it was his fault. And the only to make it up to her is to make sure he's okay and maybe watch her.

He just hoped that she was fine.

Jaune entered the room, and see Blake, now her body covered with bandages and the bruises on her face being treated. The big scratch on her abdomen can be visible through the bandages wrapped around it. There were also a few bruises seen, and her hair is all messy as it is.

Jaune was relieved to see her fine but was also scared to see her looking like that, especially that claw mark on her abdomen. He saw a chair next to her bed, as she sat beside her to keep watch.

If there's one thing that made him worry, then it's Blake.

Seeing her in the hospital and her bruises being visible, yet treated, really pains his heart. It's like seeing someone that he is so close with, despite not being close with her from the start of Beacon until now. But he still considered her as someone that he'll help with.

Because he believed that it was right.

And what worried him about Blake? Her dealing with all the dangers out there.

Not because she's a girl and all, it's just that sometimes she deals with the problem on her own, despite it being a lot dangerous from the start. She knows that it is, but she didn't care nor mind how will the expectation be received. And that's one thing that Jaune is afraid of.

And, it felt like it was his fault. It was his fault that he didn't come to Blake's aid and save her. It was his fault that he didn't make it to save Blake in time.

It's like that… he loves Blake. Not love as an ally or a friend.

As in he cares and loves her deeply.

"I'm sorry that I didn't help you back there, Blake," Jaune said to her recovering body. Eyes closed as he felt like he was the one to blame. "I wish I there was something I can make it up to you."

Jaune reached his hand to grabbed her left hand with his right, to show that he was with her even if she's passed out. But the blonde knight hesitated, not wanting to do this all of a sudden. He wanted to, but it would be too much for him to do, and he didn't want to take advantage by just holding her hand and –

No. That wasn't it.

He didn't want to take advantage by saying to her that he loves him. He didn't want to confess his feelings to the cat Faunus yet.

Long story short, when team RNJR reunited with the rest of team RWBY, Jaune ever wanted to tell Blake his feelings to her but didn't have the courage to say, nor to even tell it to her in private every time when he asked her something. The result was that Blake was a bit upset about it, and reminded Jaune to be more responsible in paying attention, which isn't a thing at all.

Back to the point, Jaune tried to build up the courage to tell her his feelings. It wasn't simple since if he said it all of a sudden, then it'll be a lot awkward. Jaune knew when will be the right time comes. However, being alone with a badly injured girl in a hospital doesn't count as a chance for him to do what he wanted for so long.

So, what Jaune did is he sighed, as he decided to shake off his idea to hold her hand for support. He rested his head on his other arm in the railing, and his right hand left hanging which is above Blake's hand.

He felt kind of weak, to say the least.

Suddenly, unknown to Jaune since his mind is being clouded by overthinking, he felt his fingers being touched and immediately, he felt his entire hand being grabbed by another. He jolt his head in surprise late and witnessed Blake, whose eyes are open and soft smile formed on her face, staring at him.

"B-Blake!" Jaune sounded surprised, because of her being awake and the fact that his hand is on hers. "I, uh…"

"Don't say a thing, Jaune. I know that you wanted to tell me that for so long, and I can tell that you wanted to hold my hand for support." Blake stated, and it was something that Jaune blushed at. It's what he wanted after all.

"How did you…"

"I got another pair of ears on my head. I can mostly hear you mumbling stuff about 'confessions' and 'right time'." Blake stared at her hand and grabbed Jaune's a bit tightly. "And… I always wanted you to do this to me."

Jaune was confused. It's like this is what Blake read in her books, and the very same thing that Ruby was talking about.

"Also, I wanted to be honest," she had a small tint of pink on her face as she looked away. "I… always wanted you to hold my hand in case if I'm in this situation. And yes, it's what Ruby would think about."

Jaune formed a small smile, which turned into a light chuckle. And Blake joined it too, finding it funny as well.

Once they got out the giggle in their system, Blake spoke again. "Jaune."

"Yeah?"

"I know what you were about to say. So…" she paused for a while, and said what he he's been saying for the past few months. "I love you."

Jaune was stunned at first, not a blush break on his face nor a stutter. But instead, it was simple.

"I love you too."

So, this is my first RWBY story, featuring one pair that I also enjoy: Knightshade. And to be honest, this is also my first love story to be centered on something RWBY-related, since I did some others too, but mostly in MHA. I got so scared that this might be something boring, but just let my ideas on this one keep flowing until it ended.

Anyway, I actually have some other fanfics just in case if you want to read some of my work. And to end this, please leave a review, and thanks for reading!

PS: I might be doing another one with the same ship.
