Unmei Force Shattered Heroes: Creative Power

Chapter 10: The Tundra to the Enemy Base

Boki teleported the group into an icy area, as they could see the frosty atmosphere around them, as they could even make out a great pyramid in the distance.

"...huh, this doesn't look much like a Cyber base to me." Boki remarked.

"Teleportation is a very delicate art. You might have missed your destination slightly." Savant answered back. "However, I'm detecting a staggering amount of enemy activity somewhere nearby…"

"I bet that's the base we're trying to get to!" Popol piped in. "It feels nice to be back in lands I'm familiar with! Come on, let's glide through the ice and snow!"

The group immediately skated along the icy ground, as they made a few jumps, posing elegantly amidst their jumps, while attacking the enemies ahead of them, before they landed before a large pool of icy water filled with large ice cubes, as they used the cubes to traverse across the pool of water, and reach the remaining enemies in the area and destroy them.

The next area introduce a maze of passages for the group, as Popol made use of a new power-up from a destroyed enemy, which resembled a white cube with a snowflake inside of it, as the tip of Popol's spear turned snow-white, which allowed him to summon ice cubes to his leisure. He used them to create a path around the area, and to activate several switches that blocked the way ahead, and even using them to destroy enemies from afar, kicking the created ice-cubes off ramps that would lead them into colliding with mid-air enemies and knocking them out of the air, much to Popol's amusement and the rest of the group's astonishment.

As the group moved to the next area, Boki commented on the landscape.

"Meow, I've never actually seen snow in real life, now that I think of it." Boki admitted.

"That doesn't surprise me. Most modern cities on Aisnoda use technology to influence the weather at all." Savant answered back.

"To be honest, it's not even as cold as I thought it'd be. Is it because it's just a simulation?" Boki asked.

"Well, you did brave the vacuum of space while wearing casual attire earlier. For an entanma, a little cold weather should be no problem at all!" Savant assured Boki.

"Besides, the real thing would be way more fun to be in!" Popol exclaimed back. "Once we get out of here, and we find each other again, I can take you to my homelands, where it snows almost always, and we can have a lot of fun there."

Boki took the offer in her mind, as the group noticed that there was a large snowball before them. They gave it a push together, as it began to tumble down the slope, crushing robots along the way, as the group followed it, before pressing a few switches that allowed the snowball to continue rolling. They then had Heiwa melt down the snowball slightly with her fire-balls, in order to make it fit in the narrow passage ahead, before they moved it along the rest of the way, as the snowball broke to reveal a penguin-ball that allowed them to move to the next area.

They found themselves in a square arena made of ice again, as a Yoggval appeared before them, ready to scan the area, before it was struck by a bolt of lightning with red and dark blue hues, as it was stunned for a moment, before it was enveloped in flames, as its trails turned fiery, and its body turned fire-orange as well.

'Wait, what was that burst of energy, and what did it make that thing turn into!?" Popol exclaimed with confusion at the situation.

"Doesn't matter, we got a fiery situation to deal with now!" Boki exclaimed.

Polymorphic Invader

Yoggval (? Mode)

The large machine then began to fly around, as it unleashed large balls of flame that scorched the area, and even pelting flame specs that turned into pillars of flames when they hit the ground, and even charging up power to fire off massive beams of fire. Boki picked up an power-up it dropped, as she turned red, and allowed her to fire back with the same flame bursts that the robot was using.

The group began to combat the robot, dodging its variety of attacks, as Popol managed to land a few strong blows of it, causing it to stagger, before Popol prepared to finish it off.

"YOU IDIOTS! YOU LED THE ENTANMAS RIGHT TO OUR BASE!" The leader of the Constructs bellowed, as all combatants ceased action, even the Yoggval itself. "MOBILIZE IT NOW! GET US OUT OF HERE IMMEDIATELY!"

The group watched as the area began to rumble, as a large red airship began to rise into the skies, with a large vertical bridge on top of it, multiple turret armaments, and green eyes on the forward side of it.

"W-What the heck!? THAT'S their base!?" Boki exclaimed with awe. "You expect me to take down an entire Fyskir!?"

"It if was docked here, there must be a powerful energy source underground that it was using to refuel. Its power will help you take on the flying fortress." Savant told the group, before the Yoggval immediately rammed through the ground, leaving behind a massive hole on it.

"Hey, get back here!" Popol shouted at the rapidly descending robot.

"It looks like you're not the only one who wants to find the energy source, however. Find it before it's too late." Savant told the group.

"Got it, so maybe that lightning bolt was from the energy source itself!" Heiwa deduced. "Come on, we need to find it quick before that robot uses it and gets stronger!"

The group jumped into the hole, as they found themselves in a large temple, with walls filled with hieroglyphics and murals. The group began to explore the tunnels, as they used a new kind of power-up, which allowed them to create stone cubes, in order to crush enemies underneath them, and use them to activate more switches that allowed them to continue further into the temple, which was further down from their current area.

"Why would they put a secret base inside an ancient temple, anyways? Is it just because it looks cool?" Boki asked Savant.

"It's more like an ancient power plant, distributing massive amounts of magical energy from an artifact buried deep within." Savant answered back. "It's built by an ancient Kitera society, but the Cybers have hijacked most of the remaining functional ones."

"Going here in-person is a lot cooler than looking at dumb history books…" Boki grumbled. "I wish I had more time to look around, meow."

The group encountered a few new enemies, although they seemed to be quite ancient, as there was red owl-like dolls that rolled around when the group hit them with their weapons, as well a large stone sphere-head that seemed to be connected to a ethereal snake-like body, which dropped an power-up that Popol collected, which turned his spear dark-purple, which fired spheres of darkness that consumed enemies around him.

The next area for the group seemed to be a puzzle made out of the dolls, as they carefully moved them around in order to take care of the enemies ahead, and open the way to the key target that would open the path to the next area.

"Say, these things are sort of like daruma… except even cuter!" Heiwa commented, as she poked one, as it wobbled around on the ground. "I wish I could bring a few of these with me back home… if they weren't just simulations either…"

"This place looks even older than that castle those Arikans were in!" Boki exclaimed. "For a group of evil robots, they use a lot of outdated junk, meow."

"It's important to remember that Constructs are based on magic, not science." Savant explained while clearing his throat. "No matter how old or new one may look, they all use the same kind of magic. As long as a Construct keeps functioning, it's never obsolete."

"Which makes it slightly impressive how durable that can be to the march of technology… Like me and Heiwa for example." Popol pondered.

The group moved into the next area, as they encountered more ancient variants of the robots, as Boki used a mix of Lightning, Tornado and Force to create laser blasts from the sky that honed on enemies like chain lightning, as it illuminated the way ahead for the group to proceed through, as the hallways were getting more and more dark for them.

The next area the group reached, seemed to have barrier robots that looked like ancient totems, as they made barriers that were made out of orange runes that were rapidly shifting around. When Boki tried to destroy one of them, it instead created a vacuum of debris, which regenerated into the same barrier drone.

"Huh. For something ancient, it's far more useful." Boki remarked, before they looked at the barrier blocking their way, as the drones that were making it were not in sight at all. "Looks like we'll have to cross over one. Wonder what it'll do to us."

As the group crossed it, the group felt a dark presence upon them, as they could swear that a massive evil eye glared upon them, as Boki turned dark green and felt slightly sick, while Heiwa turned into a three-tailed fox, and Popol was turned into an anthropomorphic wolf, with the fur covering his limbs and a snout on his face, which shocked the entire group.

"Wait, what happened to me!?" Popol exclaimed, as he looked at the paws that his hands had turned into, before turning towards Heiwa, who was yipping in distress. "Heiwa!"

"Wow, it seems that whatever thing struck you, has affected you two more than me…" Boki remarked with shock. "You okay?"

"I'm fine… but Heiwa…" Popol remarked, as he picked up Heiwa in his arms. "I don't think she can fight properly like this."

Heiwa nuzzled against Popol's arms, as Popol felt slightly embarrassed in holding his close friend so closely, as Boki realized that her sense of direction was flipped around, and she could only fire snakes on the ground.

"I take it back, this curse is bad for all of us." Boki remarked, as the group traveled through the area, as Boki used the snakes to shoot the enemies, although it was difficult to aim her attack, while Popol left Heiwa on his shoulder, and used his spear to take out the enemies with a single arm.

Eventually, the curse faded from the group, as Boki's colors returned to normal, and the transformation on Heiwa and Popol slowly undid itself, as Popol fell down with Heiwa on top of him, as the kitsune quickly moved off with a horrified expression.

"Ah! I'm sorry, Popol! I didn't mean to-" Heiwa exclaimed with a flustered tone.

"No, don't apologize, I'm just glad that we're all back to normal." Popol stated. 'All in favor of not getting cursed like that again?"

"Aye." The two girls in the group agreed without hesitation.

The group continued to move through the area, as they avoided the various curse barriers set in the area, even traveling across a pool of lava, using stone cubes to get across without falling in it, as they destroyed the enemies on the other side of it, clearing the area.

The next area seemed to be a large corridor with a door leading down into another area, as the group noticed that there was a greater abundance of curse barriers, which they stayed clear of, not willing to have a repeat of the incident a while ago, as they destroyed the enemies around, hitting one of the owl-dolls of a switch on the top of the room, as it led them down into a pit of sand, as the group trudged through it, fighting another snake golem, and a Virs, before the way to the next area opened for them, while Heiwa dusted herself off for sand, and shook her tails to get rid of any sand stuck there.

"Not a fan of the sand?" Boki asked Heiwa.

"Not when there's this much on me, and we're not even on a beach!" Heiwa complained.

The group then found themselves inside a large treasure chamber, as they moved across the various rooms inside of it, taking care of enemies inside of each one of them, as they used a owl-doll to clear the spikes on the way to another room, and lured a large enemy to crush the broken stone that was leading to the bottom of the area. Boki even got herself cursed, in order to fire a snake to hit the last target in the area, which opened the path towards the next area, as they could sense that the energy source was just ahead of them.

When they entered the room, they found themselves in a large open chamber, where there was an artifact on the pedestal in the center of the room, being a golden scarab with a pair of glowing energy crystals around, one red and one blue. The Yoggval then crashed in before them, still in its fiery form, as the artifact charged up energy and then blasted the Yoggval with a blast of energy, which seemingly destroyed it.

"I guess too much power is lethal, huh?" Boki remarked.

"...No, I feel that the energy hasn't gone away… in fact, it just got stronger…!" Heiwa exclaimed, alert about the situation.

Heiwa's omen seemed to be correct, as there was another burst of flames, as the Yoggval revived itself, looking far different than it did before, being much larger, and its body far more ancient, with an orange crown on top of its body. Boki's power also returned, acquiring the same power as her new enemy, as the large machine let out a bird's cry, as it shook the entire room.

Pharaoh of Flames

Phoenix Yoggval

The machine then began to attack exactly like it did before in its normal form, although its attacks were far more potent, as the group were forced to evade its attack, while Boki hurled flames back at it, and Popol struck at it repeatedly with his weapon. It didn't take long for the group to destroy the machine, as it exploded in a burst of orange flame. However, before the group could celebrate, the machine was reborn in a burst of yellow flames, as it was now shrouded in yellow flames with a yellow crown.

"Wait, this thing has multiple lives!?" Boki exclaimed.

"It's like Mokou… We'll just have to keep on destroying it until it stops being brought back." Heiwa stated.

The group began to attack the machine once again, as its attacks had grown much more stronger, as it began to hurl flames that actually created pillars of blue flames that lingered for a moment, and even fired bursts of yellow fire orbs whenever it dived to the ground. It then fired off a spread of sun rays, which the group had to avoid, as they began to spin around. The group managed to destroy the machine again, as they were far more exhausted from the fight with the first life of the machine.

However, the room was suddenly bathed with a rainbow glow, as there was a burst of rainbow flames, as the machine was created once more, with rainbow flames and crown, as it was attacking far more wildly than before, as its flames were pelted everywhere in the room, causing the group to evade rapidly to avoid being hit by the burning flames of their enemy.

After dealing with another salvo of attacks, they managed to destroy the machine, as it seemed to stay destroyed for a while, as the group looked around, expecting any nasty surprises from the artifact.

"Well, that was a tough battle, but I guess we managed to make it stop-" Popol stated, before there was a burst of dark energy, as it summoned a gout of dark fire, as the machine returned, its body turned dark purple, with a deep purple crown, as its eyes were red, and its entire body was shrouded with dark purple flames. "Oh, you've got to be KIDDING me!"

The group were taken by surprise by the onslaught of attacks it unleashed, as they proved to be barely undodgeable, as the group were hit by them, as the attacks cursed them, causing Boki's own flames to weaken to almost nothing, and Heiwa to be turned into a fox, leaving Popol the only person to properly fight, with only his body transformed.

However, it was not enough against his enemy, as he was constantly bathed by the dark flames, as he was injured again and again by the attack, as he dropped Heiwa, collapsing on the ground, as the machine prepared to fire dark sun rays into Popol, intent on finishing him. Heiwa, in distress, immediately scampered up to jump into the attack's path, as it struck her with full force.

"Heiwa!" Popol exclaimed with horror and distress, before he saw that within the beam, Heiwa's body was returning to normal, as she seemed to have sprouted an extra tail. When the beam dissipated, Heiwa was back to her humanoid form, although her hair was glowing purple, and her eyes were blood-red, as well as there being a tail made out of dark fire. "...Are you…"

"Don't worry about me." Heiwa answered back, as the warmth and innocence in her voice seemed to have dissipated, leaving behind a cold tone, before she then turned towards the machine with animosity within her eyes. "I'm going to turn you into ashes for what you did to Popol, you piece of scrap."

Heiwa then took the air, as she began throwing balls of dark fire at the machine, as it couldn't withstand the barrage of fire, before Heiwa rushed towards it, as she wielded her brush, which turned dark purple like her, as she launched a series of brutal slashes that left behind trails of dark fire, as the machine was battered by them, before it too was cursed by the powers of the dark flames.

"Know your place." Heiwa snarled, before she then parried the weakened attacks of the machine, before she then charged up energy, as she fired off a massive ray of darkness that hit the machine, as it was disintegrated into nothing by the merciless attack.

Heiwa then eyed the artifact, as she then swiped it from its pedestal, before she then crushed it with her bare-hands, creating a burst of red and blue energy that Boki absorbed, as her colors turned dark-purple, and she could feel the power of the artifact coursing through her. After a while, Heiwa then collapsed, as the tail of fire burned itself out, and her hair and eyes turned back to normal.

"Heiwa!" Popol exclaimed, as he rushed over to her side to check on her. "Are you okay? That was… You sure that thing didn't do anything bad to you?"

"I'm glad you worry about me." Heiwa smiled back. "Don't worry, I'm okay… just a little tired after using so much power. I can still fight with you all."

"Then how about I pay you back by using this power to get us to the enemy base! We're going to finish this once and for all!" Boki exclaimed. "And by the way… THAT WAS AWESOME!"

"...Heh." Heiwa chuckled lightly, touched at Boki's exclamation.

The trio then broke through the temple, using Boki's powers, which created a sphere of dark energy around them, as it hurtled after the enemy airship.
