Summary/disclaimer: Time for another chapter of Chilling Champion. Enjoy the 4400-word chapter. I don't own Pokémon, Nintendo, and a few others.
It was a nice idea for the moment. It all seemed to be a very nice idea at the time and he knew it when all was said and done. This would be something fun for the time being. It was oh so interesting when all was said and done. A fun adventure to be sure, but one that had time and effort put into it at the end of the day for now.
She knew he needed just a little time and effort spent on whom knows what and he could enjoy himself for now. it'd be a nice change of pace at the end of the day. Oh, would it be fun for them yet he couldn't question what to say and do next? It was to be one for the books as of now.
He questioned to himself what her reasoning for tracking him down like this had been for whatever reason. He at least knew that something was coming sooner or later and she had come for some reason. Some important little tidbit of his life that could be controlled at the end of the day when it came down to it. It had been a lot more questions before now.
Still? He had been a lot more interested in this no matter what to do next. It had been something fun for him and he knew it more than anything. It'd be something fun for now. Whatever little thing.
He had been a lot more focused on whatever came next. This would be something interesting when all was done and dusted. He had been a lot more focused on whatever little thing seemed to come down next. It'd be something fun for now and he couldn't all be done and dusted for now. There was a lot more to this before now. He had to be ready, had to strike harder and faster.
Cynthia looked down at the plains that swept across the mountain. It was going to be a lot more interesting if she had lived here, and dealt with what had come as of the moment.
There were a few things she wished to see done before today was done, a few more things that would improve it here… But then again? She was no architect, she only knew a little about this place, not much about its people or what made it tick.
There was so much to be said and done about it and whatever else was around here. Yes, there was something quaint about living here.
"So, did you come here to battle me or because it's nice to be here and you wanted something new? Because if it's something new? There's an entire region here for you." Cynthia heard as she turned toward Mabrey who had become far more amused than he had been interested.
He was honestly finding this odder than everything. He had been hopeful that had been interested in what was coming next as of the second. This was going to be fun. He crossed his arms across his chest as he tilted his head.
Mabrey hummed as he glanced around, he noticed that there was more going on his face. There's going to be more going on at the moment. He was honestly curious as to what was to happen.
There were a few more questions on his face as he tilted his head before humming before he sighed while he clicked his fingers.
There had been so much he was curious about, so much that had to be done. She was an odd woman, he rather thought that cool of her. Still? He didn't want to be the champion, not yet at the latter.
"Why did you come here as of the time?" Mabrey questioned before he hummed to himself. "I know it probably isn't me. This was an excuse, wasn't it?" Mabrey asked as Cynthia hummed to herself before she tilted his head to the side.
He was honestly curious about what she did at the time. it'd be something odd when it came down to it. He had honestly expected to do it when he considered it. This had been a lot more interesting than a simple battle.
Still? if that was what was to be needed for this encounter. He really couldn't refuse when he considered it. there was a lot more he wished to ask her and would if he was given the time and effort to think about it.
She hummed before she glanced at her friend before he tilted his head. There was a glance at her as well before both friends before he tilted his head. He put his hands into his pockets before he brushed off his suit and ran a hand through his hair while he clicked his fingers to himself.
Cynthia patted her Pokémon on the head before she turned to look at her friend. It had indeed been an odd thing when it came down to it. Cynthia had been a champion when she seemed to question what to do before he looked to glance up into the sky.
He sighed and put his hands into his pockets before he started to speak before she spoke a few seconds later. It had become a chore for them when it came down to it.
"I did want to see you as of the time. is that so wrong? You were one of the fewest that had come closest to beating me." Cynthia stated before Mabrey blinked and waved his hands back and forth.
"I doubt that I'm the only person who had come close to beating you. I did want to see how well you were at combat." Mabrey said before he held up his hands and shrugged.
"I do doubt you are, but I'm guessing I'd be wrong. No? if that's the case? How well did I do? I didn't think I did anything special when it came to battling you. I just did what I could to try and stop you." Mabrey said while raising an eyebrow at her.
Still? If that were true? He doubts she was lying. She was a lot of things, but she wasn't a Lier and he knew that better than anyone when it came down to it. He brushed off his jacket.
Both of them knew what was coming. This was going to end before long. It'd be a lot harder for it when she considered it. there was so much to do next. It'd be a lot harder for both of them. There was a lot more to do next as of the second. She'd hummed to herself before this had come down to if Cynthia stayed or went. He had a lot more to this than either seemed to want when it came down to it, he hummed to himself while looking at her.
"This was more than just you wanting to come to see me when it came down to it, isn't it?" Mabrey questioned before he looked around, more interested in what was coming.
Cynthia said nothing, she knew that he was smart enough to realize what had happened next, there was enough on his mind for him to know what was coming next. She nodded simply, holding her Pokeball now. It'd be a while now before she headed outwards toward the next city or settlement for the time being. she turned to Mabrey who seemed to be a lot more curious as to what she had been doing before now. There was so much to this before now. He had been oh so curious when this was done and dusted for now. It had been something odd to handle for now.
"So, just came to see me for now?" Mabrey stated before he rubbed at his head. "I don't think it's as important as it seems to think much of it. Mabrey stated before he tilted his head and sighed before he cracked his fingers. I know at least a few reasons you'd come. This isn't just a fight for now, is it?" Mabrey added while he tilted his head.
Mabrey tilted his head while he started to tilt his head once more. It had been a lot more to this battle than there had been something more than this. What he did know was it wasn't often the woman came here. It wasn't often what he had been doing before now. It came down to a few topics that he hadn't yet understood before all was said and done…
There was a lot more than a simple fight at the end of the day when it came down to it. There was a lot more to do before now if anything else. He had a lot more to question, a lot more to properly impress upon her when it came down to it when all of this was completed and handled properly.
Yet? Cynthia always seemed to have problems with that, always a problem with what was going on in the world, and yet? It hadn't seemed to be prepared for now.
If anything? It just made him laugh at how odd a woman he could have been when all of it was said and question for now what to say.
Maybe nothing, silence always seemed to have worked if nothing else, and he was too tired of anything to properly converse with her. He yawned all the same as he rubbed at his brow, too insecure about what to do if anything.
Cynthia fell silent, looking over at her, too uncertain about what he was to say and do. Perhaps it was some ruse to get her to drop her guard, she'd not be surprised if it was when push came to shove. He had tried it before and she knew more than he what was going on when all of it was all over.
"Too unsure what to say?" Cynthia questioned while she watched as he hummed, simply shrugging as he did so.
"Nope, just a little thrown off for now. I don't know what's going to happen if nothing else before now." Cynthia heard Mabrey state and seemed to fall silent before now.
He was a lot more to question as to what to hand before now and what question for now.
He was bored and sighed, unsure what to tell her.
"Are you going to be like this the entire time if I'm being honest, doesn't mesh with what and all. Doesn't seem like something you'd be big on either, but I guess being a champion gives you options when it comes to all of this, doesn't it?" Mabrey asked with a smirk as he did so.
He knew her as well as she did him, there was too much history to do anything more than smirk when all of it was said and done at the end of the day. Too much on the brain for him to back down and stop when it all came down to it. There was too much to focus on when it seemed.
He questioned before he hummed, prepared for now what to do next at the end of the day, he prepared for more, preparing for the best.
He yawned, slowly tucking his feet under him. He yawned once more, tilting his head once more before slowly looking back at her as she did the same. He rolled his eyes before looking up at the ceiling, unsure of whatever it'd be for now.
There was always something to do next. Always a chaotic thing with her, wasn't there? She always did something odd and it always amused him. Now? he was too unsure, too uncertain of what she'd do if put in a certain position… And how odd this could have been for now. It'd be such an odd position for him to be in.
Then again? Cynthia was good at that. She was always like this, always pushing, always climbing up and up and up and up until she burst or something. it was an odd time, but he wasn't able for now. It wasn't going to be handled as of now.
He didn't know what her plan was, what her goal was as of the second. He wasn't going to focus at this point. the very fabric of the idea for now. she was far too much of an enigma to get to that place in time. She was to focus more and more on such little things. This wasn't an easy part of the bargain, not something he felt he qualified to take over on her behalf. This was such an odd little move, something that couldn't have been for the time
Yet? This was a nightmare, one which he didn't see easily which came down it was for now. this nightmare didn't at all for the time being. she constantly made him feel on edge, yet? It was enough to make him laugh, something that hadn't yet seemed to question before this came to it.
"You came down here for a relaxing retreat from being the champion, no? it's written all over your face. You want to be here because you want some time where you are not the champion, aren't you?" Mabrey questioned as he tilted his head, looking around as of the time being, this wasn't something he wasn't in the position.
This wasn't something he wanted to do, it wasn't yet a problem, but it was something he found to be more amusing than it had been.
Cynthia raised an eyebrow, more amused than thrown off by his assumption, but she didn't at all deny such a thing for the time being.
He was curious, it wasn't something that he could bother for now. He tilted his head as he pondered what she'd do. What she was building up to… If anything at all went sideways? Well, he'd probably see it all falling to pieces if anything. He'd be watching this little chaos for now. He didn't know for now when it came down to it. He was too much more to handle, too unsure before it was over at the end of the day. It made him laugh and laugh before now had been something else that hadn't been done for the time being.
This nightmare was just going to begin… However? He knew better… And he'd always know better than it because he understood such problems. It was clear such things only served to have gotten it so hard, for now, to have fixed.
He didn't at all understand what to do next. He questioned before he sighed about what to have to do next. Mabrey looked at the woman before he questioned what to do next. It wasn't going to have to be busy for now. He tilted his head before he shook his head.
Mabrey looked at Cynthia before he yawned and put his hands in his pockets. It was clear more and more that Cynthia had come here for a good reason and yet? Mabrey was all too interested before he tilted his head.
"So, are you going to be, ok?" Mabrey stated before he folded his hands into his pockets. "I didn't expect you to come down here for something like this to happen. Your something else, Ms. Champion of Sinnoh." Mabrey stated to which she snorted and tilted her head before he smirked at himself.
The taunt and tease were something he had wished to have done for a while. It was clear entirely that such problems had only served to have bothered him and bothered him badly. If anything, else? He'd not allow himself a moment of peace or clarity. He had a lot worse problems like such a thing before he questioned before he rolled his eyes before.
"I came out here for some peace," Cynthia stated as Mabrey clicked his tongue before he questioned what to tell her next.
He yawned, clicking his tongue against the roof of his mouth. Cynthia yawned, looking down before she crossed her legs under her. It was clear Mabrey was amused as he took a seat next to the woman as she looked at the sun which made him tilt his head to the side, it was clear to him that her plans went beyond such matters… They went beyond the idea of simply bothering others.
Yes, Mabrey knew Cynthia was simply screwing with him as she had done in their last battle. He rubbed his eyes as the woman kicked off her heels and then looked into the sun.
It was honestly sobering to him to see the queen of Sinnoh, a woman who had defeated Pokémon trainers by the truckloads… Was tired of being at the top of the food chain. Granted? It was simply part of life sooner or later she'd get bothered… But it was entirely funny that this woman was just plain tired…Perhaps it was just the idea that the most elite Pokémon trainer, someone who had ripped through people as if they didn't at all exists.
Mabrey let out a yawn and looked before he tilted his head, it was entirely palpable that she had lied about being busy or needing something to deal with such a thing.
She was the ace of Pokémon in the path of such a thing and more, it needed to be winning for now, curious only for it to end as of now before low, it seemed to need to end before now. Mabrey was not so damn easy for now, it needed to end sometime soon.
Still? Fun was here, all of it could be ended as of now. He felt like keeping his silence, for now, only getting quiet for now, and looked upwards.
"Are you going to stay a while or was it just to see me? You've got a lot of friends to go see and I'm just a challenger whose been dealing more and more with exploring Sinnoh." Mabrey said before looking upwards and smirking, looking upwards and smirking to himself.
"Are you going to be ok if I do?" Cynthia stated before looking around. "And because I've met a few challenges who wanted to try and fight for the sake of fighting, Mabrey… It's not often I get to relax and meet someone who doesn't want to be a challenger…. Few people enjoy Pokémon battles just for amusement, just for some sort of amusing distraction… It won't last, you're not going to let it last… We all know it's going to end sometime soon," Cynthia stated before looking to the side.
"Maybe I simply enjoy challenges more than I enjoy something else," Mabrey stated before looking around, all too amused for now.
She knew more and more that he was not at all trying to bother her and it was a good question, one which she struggled to find many answers to and was utterly able to relax with ease as she knew more and more that Mabrey was just playing with her and trying to have some fun with it all.
"You've changed a bit since we last talked, you know," Mabrey stated before he hummed and crossed his arms.
"Maybe I've just been eager to try and chat so much that I've never been able to express myself the right way, it's not hard to change what you are," Cynthia stated before she looked up and into the sky.
"Hmm, you're a lot more fascinating than you were before, Cin," Mabrey stated before he started to think at the end.
They both looked upwards and into the sky, unsure of what to do next, and yet it was something that needed to be dealt with at the end of the day. this seemed to be better and better at the moment.
There was a lot more to try and understand about the other and Mabrey was utterly hopeful at the time being. All of it became amusing to Cynthia and looked down at the ground, utterly curious about what he was doing next.
"Are you ok?" Mabrey asked as Cynthia shrugged before looking down at the ground and was silent.
"Are you? it's been a while since we met last time. I don't at all know what to say when it comes down to it. We've only met once or twice yet it feels like we've been meeting dozens of times over and over again." Cynthia asked as Mabrey hummed and looked down at the ground, utterly tired at the end of the day.
There was a lot more to this, both watching as one another looked at each as they looked into the sky. This seemed to be amusing over and over and over.
"I don't know what to tell you, it's been a lot more hopeful that we might talk again like this," Mabrey stated before he looked upwards and into the sky.
"There's a lot more I don't think we've been able to discuss back then," Cynthia said before falling silent, utterly unsure of what to do next as he looked into the sky.
"Are you ok? I have a lot more to try and focus on at the end of the day and well? I have a bit of a tight schedule." Cynthia said before she slowly started to fall silent and looked upwards and into the sky.
"I don't know and I don't care to be honest. There are some problems to try and fix and coming out here. It fixes a lot of those problems, you know." Mabrey stated before he slowly started to focus more and more on Mismagius and her face.
Mabrey stayed utterly silent, unsure of what to try and do next as the two looked at each other before he glanced at her, utterly unsure of what to do next as he found this moment to be amusing. The two were utterly silent as they slowly started to think more and more of it all.
He was all too ready for it to end, all too unsure of himself, utterly thrown off by it all, and worn down entirely. They had a lot more to try and figure out, more than what they were used to. It was just more and more of a nightmare to deal with as he clicked his jaw against the roof of his mouth as he did so.
Mabrey hummed and then sat down on the ground at the edge of the cliff, only pausing to look upwards into the sky as she slowly walked over and sat next to him.
"So, what brings you here besides getting tired of being the strongest Pokémon trainer in the entire region? Because I'm surprised, you'd come here rather than somewhere else." Mabrey said as he slowly started to think.
"Maybe it's the fact that I can really relax here and not constantly worry about being the master and champion here," Cynthia stated as Mabrey hummed.
"Ah, so being like you were a few years ago or so? I don't know what it was like being the champion but it seems a lot more exhausting than you make it seem, no offense." Mabrey said as he slowly sighed and fell to the ground, utterly silent.
"Are you going to be good when someone takes your throne? Because we both know what it will be like when someone finally takes your throne. When it comes down to it? Because I know a few people who don't deserve it." Mabrey said as Cynthia hummed.
"Speaking from experience?" Mabrey heard as he nodded.
"It's not easy being the kind of person who is the queen of the hill. You have nothing to aspire to when you're so high and mighty, nothing, it's scary, isn't it?" Mabrey said as Cynthia hummed.
"You have no desire at ALL to be champion, do you?" Cynthia asked as Mabrey hummed.
"Not yet, not until I feel like I earned it. Anyone can become a champion but it's more than just a title, isn't it? Some duties come with it; duties I don't feel I've earned yet." Mabrey said as Cynthia raised an eyebrow.
"Oh, and does this come from somewhere, or are you implying it's just something to think about?" Cynthia asked, leaning backward onto her hands.
"I'm just pointing out my views on being the cream of the crop. It's lonely. You don't get to enjoy it the same way when it comes down to it, you know." Cynthia heard before she sighed and knew he was just making a point.
Still? it was too odd, very much too odd, and too odd to say much if anything. She did not wish to say or do much to try and handle it anytime soon. They had a lot more to figure out, so much that it was almost baffling over and over at the end of the day. Whatever came next would be harder and harder to figure out.
She didn't even want to know what was on Mabrey's mind. it was a nice thing but it was clear she had a lot more to understand about such things and it was harder and harder to figure out, much harder than it could have possibly been… Anything else was secondary to what she had thought.
She looked at Mabrey who had been silent, utterly so in a way that could only begin to grow more and more tiresome. So much more she could learn from him and yet? She didn't even know the first thing about it.
There was too much to really try and figure out at the end of the day, far too much.
"You're a very odd person sometimes, Mabrey, you know that? We have a lot in common and yet we don't." Mabrey heard as he shrugged.
"I'm not sure what to tell you, Cynthia. I just like things differently. There are a lot of things I enjoy doing and a lot more to try and find out. I don't think you can do that when your champion, you constantly have to deal with." Mabrey said.
