The thing about Skye
Expansion off She can purr
Daisy knew something was wrong. She knew it. She could feel it in her bones, in the ground, in the vibrations around her. They were wrong, but her people… They were right there. They looked fine, they acted fine, so she reasoned that it was just the situation.
Daisy was feeling a bit off, herself. Because May is gone, and May is everything. The leader, the protector, the teacher, the glue that holds everything- the team- Coulson- Daisy - together.
So, Daisy knew that something was wrong, but everything was wrong, so she couldn't really place it until she came across the containment unit full of clones of herself. LMDs . Like May was replaced with. Daisy stretches out her senses and comes into contact with those wrong vibrations because everything is wrong with the world.
She slides down the wall, clutching the tablet in her hands desperately, searching through the feeds because her powers are useless . Their vibrations were wrong and Daisy hadn't even considered that they'd been replaced. She's gotten complacent and believed nothing worse than May turning up missing could possibly happen.
Her heart stalls, seeing Fitz dead on the floor, blood pooling out and Coulson- Mack- looking only apathetic- expressions not even changing as they kill two agents in cold blood for noticing the circuitry in the dead scientist.
It's not him. It's not him, it's not him, it'snothim. But that means he's missing too.
Daisy trembles and shakes, but she dare not let it out. She represses it, she has to, or the imposters will find her and there will be no one left to search for her missing family.
Daisy notices the blood on the ground, and it draws her out of her panic, some. Jemma. She killed robot Fitz.
Daisy reaches out with her powers and finds her cowering in the corner- bloody- bruised- trembling like a leaf as she brandishes a bloody knife.
It wasn't him, It wasn't him, itwasn'thim.
Simmons doesn't feel right- feels nothing like calm, joyful, reasonable and curious Jemma Simmons. Her emotions are erratic and terrified, and they make her vibrations not right . But, but , she doesn't feel still like the imposters do. Daisy's not sure- wants to be sure- doesn't want to be alone in this.
A noise distracts Simmons and Daisy grabs her trembling wrist and yanks . She thuds into Daisy solidly and Daisy pulses, and oh. It's Jemma. It's really her- human and whole and Daisy isn't alone.
Jemma sinks against her, then grasps at Daisy's body just as desperately as Daisy grasps at her. They aren't alone. They aren't alone, they aren't alone, theyaren'talone.
A weird, wheezy, congested feeling starts up in Daisy's lungs, rising and falling with her breathing, and she coughs. The rumbling continues, and Daisy pulls back some, coughing more, "Sorry." It doesn't stop no matter what Daisy does to clear her throat, and the vibrations actually get louder when Jemma pets her arm.
"What-" Daisy stutters, pleasure, and relief, and, weirdly, embarrassment over the rasping rumble timed with Daisy's respirations. "What is-"
Simmons gives a watery, wearily amused, smile. "What, you didn't know that you purr sometimes?"
"What- no I don't ," Daisy immediately denies, defensive, until Jemma's hand travels up Daisy's arm, brushes affectionately against her cheek, and rakes her fingers along her scalp. The vibrations pulse louder at the familiar, aching, pleasure of the physical show of affection.
Daisy rips herself away, eyes wide, "Wait, stop it ." Daisy tries to grasp hold of her powers, to stop the vibrations as she had outwardly not too long ago, but the relief of Jemma being here with her is still all too present, and the control slips away from her in a way that it hasn't in a long while.
Jemma starts to smile, a real, genuine, not-about-to-tip-over-the-edge-of-insanity one, and Daisy bristles in embarrassment. "Shut up. Let me look at your leg."
They don't have time for Daisy to wrap her head around this new (only to her, apparently) discovery. They have a team- a family- to save. Even that thought isn't enough to stall the rumbling in Daisy's chest, and the sensation is oddly soothing as the vibrations work to knock loose the tightness usually constricting it.
A/N: Yes, this is two chapters in one day because I'm a needy little shit that craves attention. On. that note, I'm going to let. you guys choose.
Do you want next update to be a bit of Simmons fluff

Please review and let me know what you think of this chapter as well. I know a few of you liked the purring as well and wanted Daisy to find out. It's angstier than you probably expected- and me- but this is what happened.
