Chapter 25

"Eri's rewind power affected Deku more than Kaiya, so Kaiya's injuries were still pretty severe once it was all said and done." The doctor explained to Aizawa as they talked over Kaiya's sleeping body. "She had extensive stab wounds on top of the overuse of her Quirk. Chisaki must have really battled against her on a level she wasn't used to." Aizawa groaned and noted the many bandages wrapped around Kaiya's thigh and stomach. "Once she wakes up, she is free to go. Recovery Girl did her part. Kaiya's lucky to be alive."

"Thank you doctor. I'll keep an eye on her." Aizawa said, dismissing the doctor. He sat down next to Kaiya and took in her battered appearance. "I have a feeling you knew what you were doing with Eri. You let her heal Midoriya over yourself." Kaiya groaned slightly before letting her eyes flutter open.

"What would you have done?" She asked through pained breaths. Aizawa narrowed his eyes at her in annoyance. "I had to save her. Deku had the best chance of stopping Chisaki with his Quirk."

"You fought well. You all did. I just wish...this hadn't happened to you." Aizawa sighed. Kaiya cracked a smile and placed her hand on Aizawa's gently.

"I still have my Quirk. I am still alive. Mirio and NightEye can't say that. I am lucky." She whispered, feeling a tear leave her eye. "I'm just glad you're looking over Eri."

"How did you know about NightEye?" Aizawa gasped, seeing Kaiya shake her head.

"I've heard everything since I was brought here. I just couldn't open my eyes. When can I go home?"

"Soon. Now that you're awake and your bleeding has stopped, I'll take you back to the dorms with everyone else." Kaiya nodded at the answer and took a moment to look around the room. Aizawa saw the sadness in her eyes before he spoke again. "He isn't here. I had to send him back to UA to keep up with his courses."

"I don't know who you mean." Kaiya mumbled, not looking at her teacher.

"Sure. I'll be back soon. Get ready to leave." Kaiya nodded and sat herself up straight, wincing through the main in her stomach. "And go easy on yourself. You were stabbed for god sake."

Arriving back at the dorms, Kaiya, Kirishima, Midoriya, Tsu and Ochako were greeted by the army of friends waiting for them. "We were so worried about you all!" Kaminari cried out, hugging each person.

"I'll make some lavender tea to calm your minds!" Momo offered, running away. Kaiya was rushed by the girls pulling her in for hugs while Midoriya was tackled by Iida.

"Thank you all for the welcome. It's nice to be home." Kaiya smiled, seeing Bakugou sitting on the couch, keeping his eyes from focusing too much on the arrivals. Her eyes darted around the room to find the red and white haired boy she had missed so much, but he was nowhere to be found. A creeping sadness filled her heart until she felt something brush beside her. "Shoto?"

"I'm glad you're safe." Was all he could muster standing beside Kaiya; but his eyes yearned to do more. Kaiya knew he desperately wanted to hug and kiss her but not in the middle of this crowded room.

"Thank you...I am too."

"We must all go to bed now. Rest up for tomorrow!" Iida instructed, dismissing the group. As Kaiya made a move to leave, a warm hand caught hers and dragged her to where he wanted to go.

"My room." Todoroki whispered, moving quickly through the hall. As soon as his door clicked shut, his eyes bore over Kaiya's body. "Anywhere hurt?" Kaiya shook her head quickly. "Good." He breathed, pulling her to his body. His body released a thick tension as Kaiya wrapped her arms around him.

"I'm here." She whispered, feeling Todoroki's racing heart against her. "I'm sorry I scared you."

'"You have...no idea how scared I was." He whispered into her hair. They broke apart for a moment for him to look at Kaiya. "When I saw...all that blood...and you wouldn't wake up." Tears threatened to spill from his eyes as Kaiya grasped his face tenderly to get him to focus.

"I'm here. I had to save the girl. But I'm okay now." She reiterated, running her thumb over the trailing tears. "I'm sorry." Todoroki took a deep breath and placed his forehead against Kaiya's, calming his heart rate. "Kiss me." She whispered, angling her neck to reach Todoroki's lips. "I won't break." She said when an ounce of hesitation traced Todoroki's eyes. He obliged to her command, first taking her gently before a fire flowed through him. His fear of almost losing Kaiya overtook him and he gripped onto her tightly, claiming her mouth more fervently which Kaiya returned.

Breaking apart for air, the couple gazed at each other for a moment before Kaiya began giggling to herself. "What is so funny?" Todoroki asked before Kaiya reached into his front pocket and pulled out his vibrating phone.

"This was tickling me the whole time during that kiss." She giggled, checking to see who was calling. "Your father? What does he want?" She asked, seeing Todoroki's mood shift. "What is it?"

"The man will not stop bothering me. He wants to see my training and wants to talk every day. It's infuriating."

"What's the harm of him watching you? He may have some advice for you." Todorki looked at Kaiya incredulously as the words left her mouth. "I'm just saying. You have the Number 1 Hero at your disposal. It couldn't hurt to have him see you. Plus, it sounds like he is trying to be more...fatherly?"

"I'll think about it." Todoroki grumbled. "Can we go back to kissing now? My father is killing the mood."

"There's a mood?" Kaiya asked, crawling onto Todoroki's futon.

"That's hurtful." Todoroki grumbled as Kaiya laughed, pulling him down to her level. "I'm trying here." He mumbled before Kaiya pecked his lips gently.

"You're doing a good job. Now come here." She whispered, claiming his lips once more.

The next morning, Todoroki and Bakugou had extra provisional training and Kaiya requested to tag along for "training" purposes; since she was still healing. Present Mic and All Might agreed to her request.

"Ugh, why are you here?" Bakuguo groaned as Kaiya exited the bus behind the pair.

"Don't ask questions, just be grateful for my amazing presence." Kaiya answered him, winking at the exploding boy. Todoroki just smiled at how easily she annoyed Bakugou. He pecked a kiss on her cheek before Present Mic saw them as they entered the arena.

"I hope my father doesn't show up." Todoroki mumbled to her. "And I really hope…"

"Hey Todoroki!" A very loud sound shook Kaiya's ear drums while Todoroki froze.

"What the hell was that?" Kaiya asked, seeing the owner of the voice parade down the hall.

"It's me! Inasa! Remember me?" The large boy asked with a huge smile on his face.

"Is that the guy you fought during the provisional licensing exam?" Kaiya asked, seeing Todoroki nod.

"Hi there! Are you the UA boys? I'm Camie." A sweet voice sounded behind Inasa. "Oh wait! You're Shoto Todoroki, you're like...super hot! Can I have your number?" She asked him. Kaiya glared at the bubbly teenager but bit her tongue. Their relationship was still under wraps, so she couldn't be upset with another girl finding Todoroki attractive.

"Umm I'm sorry but…" He started to say before another voice sounded from behind them. The student who turned Kirishima and Bakugou into meatballs during the provisional test came over to them.

"Oh isn't it the UA trash." He snarled.

"Why didn't you give Camie your number?" Kaiya whispered to Todoroki who just narrowed his eyes at her.

"Why would I? I'm with you." He answered simply, earning a smile from Kaiya.

"Good luck, I'll be watching." Kaiya winked, leaving Todoroki with Bakugou who was glaring at the pair.

"What is up with you two? You're around each other a lot." Bakugou spat. He was in an increasingly irritated mood today and even Todoroki was getting annoyed by it at this point.

"We like each other, is that a foreign concept for you Bakugou?" Todoroki snapped back, exiting to the arena. Bakugou sucked his teeth in annoyance and ignored Todoroki's reply.

In the arena, Kaiya found herself sitting near the front of the stadium so she could observe the training closely, while All Might and Present Mic stayed in the back.

"Hey Shoto! Show these students that you don't belong here, you shouldn't have failed in the first place!" A loud, familiar roar sounded from the entrance. Endeavour stood with All Might and Kaiya groaned, knowing that this would affect Todoroki's performance.

"So much for being subtle." She whispered, hearing Gang Orca tear into the trainees. "I'm so happy I'm not down there."

A group of children came bounding out into the arena and surrounded Bakugou, Todoroki, Inasa, and Camie. Kaiya laughed at the utter fear in her classmates' eyes at the small children. "This is amazing. I'm so glad I came." Kaiya giggled, noting the pile of children toppling over Todoroki.

Kaiya could see that Bakugou was losing his patience with the kids as they had stolen his gauntlets and began running around the arena with them. Inasa was crying in the fetal position and Camie was still trying to warm up to a trio of girls. Todoroki was under a pile of kids while Kaiya was laughing too hard to notice that Endeavour had found her and sat next to her.

"Kaiya." He said, scaring her out of her laughter.

"Jesus Christ." She gasped, feeling the heat of the hero next to her. "Hello Endeavour. How can I help you?" Kaiya asked, steadying her heart rate.

"Did you know I would be here today?" He asked.

"Todoroki mentioned it, but he wasn't sure if you'd show." Kaiya answered him, still watching the cluster of kids destroying the students. "This is so funny." She whispered to herself.

"Hm, he still doesn't think too highly of me." Endeavour murmured. "Can't say I blame him; but I am trying." He admitted to Kaiya quietly. She was confused as to why he was telling her all this, but chose to listen to the hero.

"Give him time. He is stubborn and he has a lot going on right now anyway." Kaiya tried to make the hero feel better. She didn't care for his way of parenting or how he treated Rei or Shoto; but it wasn't her place to say anything too cut-throat.

"I want him to be proud of me; proud to be my son."

"Then make him proud to be your son. Be proud to be his father; it's a two way street sir." Kaiya explained to him. "That's what I would do if I had parents; seeing as I don't, I want to make myself proud." Camie had created an illusion Todoroki and Kaiya broke out into laughter with his smiling face; but when the illusion faded, Bakuguo mocked him which made her laugh even harder. Both boys glanced at Kaiya and she waved between her laughing spells.

"If I may ask sir, why are you telling me all this? I am nobody." Kaiya asked once she stopped laughing.

Endeavour regarded her carefully before responding. "You enjoy being around my son, I thought you would know a lot about what was going on in his head. Why are you here anyway?" Endeavour stated.

"I'm still healing from the Chisaki mission; and I don't get to see Todoroki much with all his extra classes." Kaiya admitted.

"I heard you did fine work on that mission. Despite your intense injuries, you saved that girl." Endeavor nodded, still not looking at the girl.

"Yes sir. She was top priority." Kaiya smiled, seeing that Todoroki and Bakuguo finally figured out a way to be with the kids. They created an illusion slide mixed with wind, fire, and ice. The kids were happily playing around with the teens, laughing and smiling with each other. "Look at him, he's so gentle and yet so powerful. That is your son." Kaiya smiled, seeing Todoroki show off his flames for a few children. Endeavour followed her eyes and grunted.

"You care for him. Does he care for you?" Kaiya froze at the question but decided it was best to be honest.

"We care for each other a lot, yes sir." He nodded at her in an approving way.

"Good. I'm glad he has the chance to be happy. I'm relieved I didn't ruin that for him." Kaiya's heart ached at the soft admittance of the hero. "Thank you, Kaiya." He said and left her to her own devices.

"On the list of strange things that have occurred...this definitely makes top five." She whispered to herself.

Once training was over, Kaiya saw Endeavour and Todoroki speaking with one another outside of the arena. She desperately wanted to intervene but kept her distance when a presence alerted her. "You're dating him aren't you?" Camie asked from behind her. Kaiya turned to her and saw a genuine smile on the Illusion girl's face.

"If I was?" Kaiya asked her cautiously.

"You're very lucky. He's a good looking boy plus he's good with kids. Well done. I saw the way you glared when I asked for his number." She smirked, flipping her hair back.

"I'm sorry; this is all new to me." Kaiya sighed, rubbing her neck.

"It's okay; he looks at you a lot, it's actually kinda cute." Camie smiled and waved goodbye. Kaiya returned it and saw an unhappy Bakugou glaring at her.

"What's your problem?" She asked him.

"You and Icy Hot huh?" He snapped at her, rolling his eyes.

"It's new." Kaiya whispered, blushing profusely. "No one knows."

"Whatever." He mumbled and turned to walk away.

"Wait, Bakugou. What's wrong? Why are you mad?" Kaiya asked him, brushing her fingers against his arm but he snapped away.

"I'm always mad. It doesn't matter to you." He snapped and walked to the bus. Kaiya was confused as to his anger but chose to walk over to Todoroki. Endeavour nodded at her and took his leave as Kaiya brushed up against Shoto.

"Everything okay?" She asked him, seeing a semblance of a smile on his face.

"Yeah, actually it is." He whispered, walking to the bus with her. "Everything okay with you?"

"Your father...spoke to me during your training. Nothing bad; just wanted to check on you."

"I saw him with you. I'm sorry for that." Todoroki mumbled but Kaiya waved off the apology.

"He's your father. Despite the past...he does care about you." Todoroki grunted but chose not to reply. Getting the hint, Kaiya chose to drop the subject. "Oh...real quick. Bakugou knows about us...we may need to start telling people." Kaiya told him. Instead of a shocked reaction, Todoroki just nodded. Narrowing her eyes, Kaiya sighed heavily. "Everyone already knows...don't they?"

"I told Midoriya...and he can't keep a secret apparently. They've known since Bakugou's rescue." Kaiya groaned at the news before Todoroki chuckled to himself. "It's not a bad thing. As long as the teachers don't find out, we'll be okay."

"Fantastic." Kaiya mumbled.
