Their wedding was due to take place during the summer, which funny enough, Keith's parents and Lance's parents were both married in the summer.
"Guess it's a family tradition now," Rosa had joked when Lance and Keith announced their wedding date. August 28th.
"Why August 28th?" Lance asked when Keith brought up the date.
"It's the day I went to the doctor and found out I was pregnant," Keith said with a smile. "The twins are one of the reasons we're together, I figured it was only fair to honour that."
"I love it," Lance said with a smile.
"Can you play a song Papa?" Marina asked as she and Camilla climbed onto the smaller beanbags in the studio room for when the girls wanted to sit in on one of Keith's sessions. "Daddy said you can sing and play the guitar."
"Did he now?" Lance asked, turning his gaze to Keith who just shrugged with a smile. Oh, he had definitely told the girls he could play the guitar and sing.
"So will you?" Camilla asked as she gave Lance her puppy dog eyes. She had quickly learned how to wrap Lance around her finger.
"Alright but then you girls should think about cleaning that playroom of yours up," Lance said with a roll of his eyes.
"We will," the twins chimed with a nod.
"Alright then," Lance said with a nod before he picked up the guitar and started strumming.
"I wanna write you a song
One as beautiful as you are sweet
With just a hint of pain for the feeling that I get when you are gone
I wanna write you a song"
Keith smiled as he heard Lance start to sing. He knew Lance had started picking up the hobby of playing the guitar. He played in the early days of their relationship and Keith was glad he picked the hobby up once more. Lance had a natural talent for the guitar.
"I wanna lend you my coat
One that's as soft as your cheek
So when the world is cold you will have a hiding place you can go
I wanna lend you my coat"
Keith was also glad that the girls enjoyed watching Lance play the guitar, Marina especially. He had a funny feeling that she would pick up a similar hobby.
"Ooh, everything I need I get from you
Ooh, and giving back is all I wanna do"
Keith watched as Marina studied Lance's fingers as he played the guitar. Yep, he knew for certain she will pick up the guitar later in life.
"I wanna build you a boat
One as strong as you are free
So any time you think that your heart is gonna sink, you know it won't
I wanna build you a boat"
Keith turned as he heard the soft knock at the door. It cracked open to reveal Shiro and Adam on the other side, Kosmo getting off the floor to greet them with playful licks.
"Ooh, everything I need I get from you
Ooh, and giving back is all I wanna do, ooh"
Lance looked up and noticed the couple standing at the doorway, he gave a nod of his head in greeting before he turned his attention back to the guitar.
"Ooh, everything I need I get from you
Ooh, and giving back is all I wanna do, ooh"
Lance turned his attention to Keith with a smile, a soft tender look in his eyes. Keith knew right away the song was meant for him. Lance may be singing it in front of the girls, Shiro, and Adam but he knew it was meant for him.
"I wanna write you a song
One to make your heart remember me
So any time I'm gone, you can listen to my voice and sing along
I wanna write you a song
I wanna write you a song"
"What do you think about violet?" Rosa asked as she pulled out several colour swatches.
"Maybe something a little softer?" Lance suggested as he could see the disagreement on Keith's face forming.
"Softer huh?" Rosa asked with a hum as she dug through the pile of swatches she had. When they first discussed the topic of theme colours, Keith and Lance brought up red and blue which were their respective colours. However, this was quickly shut down as Rosa said the colours would clash.
"What about a shade of purple?" Veronica had suggested. "After all, when red and blue come together they make purple. So it's like you both coming together in a way and merging your colours.
So, they decided to go with a shade of purple for one of their colours. Only one problem, they couldn't decide on what shade to go with.
"Oh! What about lavender?" Rosa asked as she pulled a swatch out of her pile. "It's still purple but it's a lot softer than the others and it goes well with a wedding theme."
"What do you think Keith?" Lance asked, turning to Keith who studied the colour in Rosa's hand.
"I think we finally have a shade of purple," Keith said with a smile. "Now we just need to match a colour to go with."
"What about a soft grey?" Rosa asked as she pulled out another swatch. Of course, she came prepared. She had already gone and thought of ideas of what would suit the other colours and had a list in her head. "It keeps the soft look of the lavender without clashing with it as they are both soft colours."
Rosa handed the two swatches over to the couple to observe and think over while she tried to think of what other colours in her swatches would match well with the lavender they picked out.
"I like it," Keith said with a nod. "I had an idea of maybe a gold but I think the grey would suit the lavender better."
"Lavender and grey it is then," Rosa said with a smile.
"Lance could you get that for me please?" Rosa called out from the kitchen.
"Sí, mamá," Lance called back as he got up from the couch and headed to the front door.
"Daddy look!" Camilla said as she held up a picture to Keith. "It's me, Rina, you, and Papa."
True to her words, four figures stood in a line holding hands with smiles on their faces. Two smaller figures stood in the middle, one coloured in pink and one coloured in purple. Above them were hers and Marina's name written in black. On either side stood a figure coloured red and the other coloured in blue to represent Keith and Lance. Of course, one dog was drawn in between Cami and Marina coloured in teal to represent Kosmo.
"It looks wonderful Cami," Keith replied with a smile. "Do you wanna hang it on the fridge when we get home?"
"Can we?" Camilla asked with a smile.
"Of course," Keith responded with a nod.
"Es bueno verte de nuevo mamá," Rosa said as she walked into the living room. Keith turned to see her walk up and hug a woman with grey hair tied into a bun. Keith stood up and headed to Lance's side.
"Es bueno verte también Rosa," the woman replied with a smile before her eyes fell on Keith. "Quién es este joven?"
"Ah, Mamá, this is Keith, Lance's novio," Rosa said with a smile. "Keith this is my mother, Annette."
"It's nice you meet you, Mrs. Sutton," Keith said, remembering what Lance had told him of his grandmother.
"Oh please, Mrs. Sutton makes me sound older than I am," Annette responded with a roll of her eyes. "Please, just call me Annette."
"Right," Keith responded with a nod. God, his nerves were everywhere.
Keith didn't think he had ever been more nervous in his entire life. Here he was, sitting at a dinner table with Rosa, her mother and father; Annette and Brenan Sutton, Michael, his mother and father; Howard and Cristina, the twins, and Lance.
"So a summer wedding huh?" Cristina asked turning to the couple.
"Yeah," Lance said with a nod. "It's funny, Keith's parents were married in the summer as well as Mama and Papa."
"Must be a new family tradition," Brenan said with a chuckle.
"And what do your parents do for a living Keith?" Howard asked, turning his attention to Keith.
"Oh um, my mother works as a pharmacist," Keith replied, squirming in his seat as all eyes were on him. "She's been working there for almost seven years now."
"And your father?" Cristina asked.
"He used to work as a firefighter," Keith replied, his voice growing softer. "He died in a fire when I was young, I barely remember him."
"I'm sorry for your loss," Annette chimed in with a soft smile. "My father was a firefighter as well, dangerous job that one."
"Yeah," Keith responded with a soft nod.
After dinner, Keith excused himself to the backyard. The twins followed and he watched them play on the playground set.
"Keith?" a voice called out. Keith turned to find Annette walking out from the kitchen.
"Hi, I was just-"
"I know what you were doing love," Annette interrupted. "I do the same thing when I get overwhelmed. Escape outside for some alone time."
"Lance does the same thing," Keith said with a chuckle. "Guess it runs in the family."
"I suppose it does," Annette said as she sat on the bench beside Keith. "You have nothing to worry about you know."
"Huh?"
"I know you're worried, about Lance's family liking you or not," Annette said as she turned her gaze to the twins. "Cristina and Howard may not show it but they have taken a liking to you. Of course, they had to get past their views towards a same-sex relationship. They're just hard asses."
"And you?" Keith asked, however, the words escaped him before he could stop them. "I'm sorry, I didn't-"
"Lance is my grandson, I care for him a great deal," Annette said with a smile. "He's happy when he's with you, you can see it on his face and the way he looks at you. He loves you very much."
"I care about him," Keith said softly. "Probably more than I can say."
"And that's what matters," Annette said turning her gaze to Keith. "As long as Lance is happy, the family will be happy. But, what we think doesn't matter. What matters is, are you happy with Lance?"
"Of course," Keith responded with a nod. "When we were apart, everything hurt. But now that we're together again, I don't think I've ever been happier."
"Then you have your answer," Annette said with a smile. "As long as you both are happy, you have nothing to worry about."
Annette stood up and started heading inside, the screen door creaking as it was opened.
"Annette?" Keith called out, Annette turning around to face Keith.
"Yes love?"
"Thank you," Keith said with a smile. "Really, thank you."
"Anytime love," Annette responded with a smile.
"See, that wasn't so bad," Lance said as he and Keith were cuddling in bed that night.
"Most stressful thing I've ever done," Keith said with a sigh.
"And yet, you managed to win both sets of grandparents over," Lance said with a smile. "And you were worried."
"Well yeah," Keith said. "I'd rather have your grandparents like me and not hate me."
"If you say so," Lance said as he kissed the side of Keith's neck. "As long as I have you, I don't care what my grandparents think."
"Papa?" a small voice called out from the doorway. Lance and Keith turned to find Marina standing at the door, rubbing her right eye with her hand, the other preoccupied with her bear.
"What is mi amor?" Lance asked, sitting up and turning on the lamp beside his bed.
"I had a bad dream," Marina said with a sniffle, a few tears sliding down her cheeks. "Can I sleep in yours and Daddy's bed?"
"Of course baby," Lance said holding his arms out to help her onto the bed. Marina waddled over and Lance lifted her onto the bed, moving her in between him and Keith.
"Good night Daddy," Marina whispered as she cuddled up to Keith.
"Good night baby doll," Keith responded back. Apparently, he was more tired than he thought because he felt himself drifting off.
"Good night mi amor," Lance softly spoke to Keith as he leaned over Marina and kissed Keith's cheek gently before turning the lamp off and snuggling close to Marina.
"Do you Shiro, take Adam Walsh, to be your lawfully wedded husband?" the preacher asked turning to Shiro.
"I do," Shiro responded with a nod, his smile never leaving his face.
"And do you Adam Walsh, take Shiro Kogane, to be your lawfully wedded husband?"
"I do," Adam responded with a nod, his heart racing a million miles an hour.
"Then by the power vested in me, I now you pronounce you Shiro Kogane and you Adam Walsh to be officially wedded. You may not kiss."
As Shiro and Adam kissed, the crowd cheered and stood up. Some more than others.
"So, how does it feel to be married?" Lance asked as he and Keith walked up to Shiro and Adam.
"Honestly, it doesn't feel any different," Adam responded with a shrug of his shoulders. "We've been together so long it was like we were already married."
"And no you are," Krolia said as she walked up to the couple with Kolivan, a smile on her face. "Took you long enough."
"We were waiting for the right time is all," Shiro responded with a faint blush on his cheeks.
"Sure whatever you say," Keith responded with a roll of his eyes.
"Hey, at least we're not making you sing for our wedding," Adam said with a playful glare.
"I would have said yes," Keith grumbled with a pout.
"How do you think you'll be on our wedding day?" Lance asked as he and Keith walked into their bedroom, tossing their shoes and coats off. The girls had fallen asleep on the car ride home and they just got both of them tucked into bed.
"I don't know," Keith said with a shrug of his shoulders as he slipped his tie off and slipped it onto the dresser. "Probably won't know until the day of."
"Only 10 more months," Lance said as he wrapped his arms around Keith from behind and leaned his head on Keith's shoulder.
"Only 10 more months," Keith repeated with a soft moan as Lance moved into his neck and started kissing his sweet spot. However, Keith jumped as he felt Lance start biting the same spot. "Hey! Lance! That's gonna leave a mark!"
"Exactly," Lance said with a chuckle, continuing to suck and bite on Keith's neck.
"I hope you know that you're going to have to explain this to my mother," Keith said as he leaned back against Lance. "We're going to check out a venue with her and Kolivan on Thursday."
"Then I guess I better get my story straight," Lance said with a chuckle.
"You. Me. Bed. Now," Keith said as he suddenly turned around.
"As you wish," Lance said with a smile as he led Keith to the bed.
"Looks like you two had fun," Krolia said eyeing the purple mark on Keith's neck as the couple walked up to the hotel.
"I'll say," Lance said with a smirk towards Keith.
"Let's just get this over with," Keith grumbled as he headed inside, Krolia, Kolivan, and Lance following after.
"Hello, welcome to Rosewood Hotel, how can I help you today?" the receptionist asked as the group walked up to the front desk.
"We have an appointment Luxia Queen," Lance said with a smile. "Should be under Lance McClain."
"Give me one moment," the receptionist said before typing something into her computer. "Ah, here we go. Alright, I'll go and fetch Ms. Queen for you and be right back."
With that, the receptionist walked away, leaving the group to themselves.
"You guys are using protection right?" Krolia asked suddenly.
"Mom!?" Keith yelled turning to mother with wide eyes.
"Hey, it's a valid question," Krolia said with a roll of her eyes. "Unless you guys are planning on another child, I have to ask if you guys are being safe."
"Your mother is right Keith," Kolivan piped up from beside Krolia. "It's better to be safe than unprepared."
"We're being safe," Lance chimed in, wrapping an arm around a blushing Keith with a smile. "I promise."
"Alright then," Krolia said with a nod, just as the receptionist came back with a woman, her blonde hair tied into a loose bun.
"Thank you Florona, that will be all," the woman replied. "Sorry to keep you all waiting. I'm Ms. Queen but please, just call me Luxia."
"Pleasure to meet you," Lance said with a smile.
"Please follow me, I'll show you the hall," Luxia said as she led the group down the hall. "The hall would of course be used for your reception, the garden is where our ceremonies are held during the summer season."
"It's huge," Krolia said as they entered the hall. At the moment, it was empty aside from tables and chairs on the far wall.
"And if we go out the doors in the back, we'll be right at the garden where the ceremony would be taking place," Luxia said motioning to the set of doors at the back.
"What do you both think?" Kolivan asked, turning to the couple. "It is going to be your wedding after all."
"It's nice," Lance said with a nod. "But, it doesn't feel…like…"
"It doesn't feel like it's the one," Keith finished.
"That's it," Lance said with a nod.
"Well, this is the first one we've seen," Krolia said with a smile. "There are still lots of places to look at."
"Your mother is right," Luxia said with a nod. "I remember my own wedding, it took me and my husband forever to find the right venue for us. I'm certain you'll find what you're looking for."
"Thank you," Lance said with a smile.
"Of course," Luxia replied. "If you ever change your mind. Our books haven't filled up yet so you still have some time."
"We'll keep that in mind," Keith said as Luxia led them out of the hall and back to the foyer.
Author's Note:
We're back with another chapter coming at y'all!
Sorry, it's a short chapter again but school has been kicking my ass lately. But, reading break is coming up and I'll have time to get some longer chapters out. I've also been distracted with Attack on Titan lately so that's my other excuse. Today's episode, oh my god, so many feels.
Anyways, the next chapter will be Lance and Keith's wedding so I am VERY excited to write it.
I also have a little announcement. The Discord is ready! For those here on , since they are weird with links. You can go to my AO3 page and find it in the same chapter of Angel Eyes on there as well as my Wattpad.
I am still sort of new to Discord, I own one with my friend group in it so I kind of have experience with it but not really. Don't feel pressured to join but I made it so that my readers could all hang out and be in one safe space. I'll also probably be more active there and therefore won't have a need for these long ass author's notes.
Anyways, until next time!
