Twistedly Stranded
A/N: The idea for this story actually came to me as a dream, so believe me, craziness abounds...
Chapter 1: The Game
"If you were stranded on a deserted island, who would you want to be stuck with?" Lavender Brown asked coyly, eyeing the other girls in turn. "Harry Potter, Seamus Finnigan, or..." -Lavender grinned evilly- "Draco Malfoy?"
A gasp arose from the circle of girls huddled together on Hermione's bed.
"Malfoy?" Hermione was the first to recover. "You can't be serious."
"No way," Ginny agreed. "Malfoy should not even be an option."
Parvati giggled. "I don't know...I should think even Malfoy could be useful for something..."
Ginny gave her a disgusted glare. "The question was 'who would you want to be stuck with?' Not 'who would you want to fu-"
Parvati and Lavender shrieked with laughter, even as Hermione clapped her hand over Ginny's mouth, effectively silencing her. "Ginny!" Her scandalized look said it all.
Ginny rolled her eyes. She was used to Hermione's escapades into the role of the outraged mother. "It's just a word, Hermione."
Hermione's disapproval was clearly evident. "It isn't proper."
"Not proper to do it or not proper to say it?" Ginny grinned wickedly as Hermione's jaw dropped. "Because I have heard some very interesting rumors about you and Neville..."
More shrieks from Lavender and Parvati.
"Wha- No! I haven't- we haven't-" Hermione sputtered in horror.
Ginny threw up her hands, as though relenting a little. "Okay, okay. I must have been mistaken."
Hermione sighed, smiling with relief. "That's alright, I-"
"Maybe it was you and my brother."
This time, when Parvati and Lavender shrieked, Ginny was certain the whole castle could hear them.
The look on Hermione's face was priceless. It seemed to be a combination of shock, embarrassment, and maybe, just possibly, guilt.
"Ginevra Molly Weasley, you take that back right now!"
Ginny smiled sweetly. "Or what?"
That seemed to stump Hermione for a minute. "Or I'll...I'll...strand you on a deserted island, that's what!"
"Can it be in the Caribbean?" Ginny questioned innocently.
"Oh, you…!" And with that, Hermione seemed to run out of words. She stamped once, angrily, and fled the room.
The other three girls stared after her, eyes wide.
"Wow," Lavender murmured. "You sure know how to press her buttons."
Ginny shrugged, already half-ashamed of herself. The other half was defiant. "She was getting on my nerves. She acts like I'm this little child that needs looking after, or something. I'm sixteen!" If Hermione hadn't just done the same thing, Ginny would have stamped her foot.
Parvati and Lavender exchanged glances.
"You know, Ginny, you never did answer the question," Parvati informed her.
Ginny frowned, confused by this sudden turn of conversation. "What question?"
Lavender's smile was pure mischief. "Harry, Seamus, or Draco?"
Ginny's expression turned thoughtful. "Malfoy," she decided at last. "Just to piss her off."
