A/N: Please could you guys let me know if you're enjoying this?
"What do you mean Jasper's been shot?" Eleanor asked her brother, as she tried to quickly put her clothes on, and getting stuck putting her top on.
"We were checking the lead on Dad's killer like I said, and a shot rang out. Len. I heard the shot hit him. Felt it in his body as he tried to push me out of the way. I saw him fall."
"You didn't stay?"
"No. I called an ambulance and I booked it Len."
"You left him there?" Eleanor asked, tears streaming down her face.
"I had to. There was someone shooting at me, and Jasper got shot so I wouldn't. I had to."
It was at this point that James burst into the room.
"Your highnesses, if you want to get to the hospital, I would recommend going now, before Mr Pryce finds out about this and places the whole palace in lockdown."
Eleanor wiped away the tears and nodded, following James out of her room. Liam wrapped his arm around her. Not only to comfort her, but to also direct her, as she was likely to walk into something. Her mind was clearly with Jasper.
"What do you know James?" Liam asked.
"I found out he had been picked up not long after you called, your highness, and he was taken to St. Mary's Hospital and wheeled straight into surgery. He lost a lot of blood, so it's touch and go at this moment whether he'll make it. I'm sorry Princess, I know you were reconnecting with him."
It took thirty minutes for James to get them both to the hospital, but for Eleanor it felt like a lifetime. She couldn't stop crying.
The car had barely come to a stop before Eleanor was jumping out of it, closely followed by Liam and James. She stormed into the building, up to the desk and demanded to know where Jasper was, while a doctor, seeing the blood on Liam's face and shirt was fussing over him to make sure he was not hurt. Liam managed to brush him off long enough to walk up to his sister, who was not getting anywhere. She looked at Liam and he could see the anxiety and desperation in her face. Liam turned to the receptionist.
"I would like to know the status and whereabouts of Mr. Frost. He is my personal protection officer and was shot in the process of saving my life."
The receptionist then realised who Liam and Eleanor were, and called up to surgery for a status report.
"He is still in surgery. They are doing what they can, and they have him stable for now."
"I want to watch." Eleanor said. It was a statement. Factual.
The receptionist looked at Eleanor, and felt sympathy for the young Princess.
"I'm afraid I cannot allow that"
"Please?" Liam asked "He is more than my body guard. He is a trusted friend. All we'll do is watch if you have a viewing gallery"
"Fine, but he" the receptionist nodded at James "has to wait outside.
"Has anyone called Liv yet?" Eleanor asked as she, Liam and James followed the receptionist top the surgical floor, and into a viewing gallery where Eleanor and Liam watched, hand in hand, as surgeons battle to save Jasper
Elizabeth arrived at the hospital to complete chaos. There were reporters everywhere, all clamouring to get a photograph of the Royal Family, along with the identity of the body guard who was shot and the mystery surrounding why.
She slipped around the mass and into the hospital, where she was confronted by armed security guards. After confirming her identity, and that she was Jasper's next of Kin, she was escorted to the ICU.
Once there, she saw Eleanor pacing and Liam, covered in blood, sat with his head in his hands. As she approached, Eleanor saw her. She almost ran to Elizabeth and embraced her in a bear hug, tears flowing freely again.
"What happened?" Elizabeth asked.
"We were out looking at something, and someone shot at me. Jasper pushed me out of the way and told me to run. I ran back to the car and called an ambulance. Liv, I am sorry I left him, but its protocol."
"I understand. How is he?"
"He is stable, but they don't know what damage has been done until he wakes up. We aren't allowed to see him." Liam explained.
Elizabeth stood, with Eleanor still crying on her shoulder. Elizabeth was still in too much shock to cry.
It was 12 hours after the shooting. Liam and Elizabeth were sleeping rather uncomfortably on the hospital chairs. Liam no longer covered in Jaspers blood, but Eleanor could not stand still. She felt more powerless now than she did when her dad died. She paced and paced in the corridor, hoping they would tell her he was awake. She could not lose another person that she loved.
That thought got her to stop pacing and look through the window to Jaspers ICU room. It was at that moment that Eleanor realised that she trusted Jasper with her life, that he had been there for her after Robbie died, and that she loved him. His past didn't matter to her at all. She just loved him.
Looking down the corridor, Eleanor realised that no one was watching her. Even James was watching the entrance to the corridor.
Quickly, she crossed the corridor, and put hr hand on the handle to Jasper's room. It was cold and smooth in her hand. Hesitating, she pushed the handle down and the door open. Slipping inside the room, and quietly closing the door. She just stood and watched Jasper breathe. There were wires stuck to him, and he was connected to tube after tube, and she didn't know what any of them are for.
Her tears had long since stopped, her eyes were still red rimmed and stinging from crying for so long. Mustering all of the strength she had, she placed one foot beside the other until she reached Jasper's bedside. She lifted his hand and placed it over her own heart. With her free hand, she brushed his hair out of his eyes.
"I need you to come back to me Jasper. I need you back. I can't live without you. I love you."
She bent down and kissed Jasper on the lips, before she sank into the chair still holding his hand. She was still there when a nurse came to check his vital statistics.
"I won't tell, your highness." she said as she took Eleanor in.
"Thank you." Eleanor replied, her eyes never leaving Jaspers.
Eleanor leaned back in her chair and tried to close her eyes, but they were too sore, so she just sat. The steady beep beep beep of the heart monitor the only sound in the room.
The nurse came to check on Jasper every hour on the hour. It was just after the nurse's fourth visit that Eleanor felt her hand squeeze.
"Len" Jasper croaked out.
Eleanor jumped out of the chair, ran to the door, screamed for the doctor and ran back to Jasper's side.
"Hey you!"
